Valentine's Day in Harperland

Well today was Valentine's Day and I didn't really feel like writing about it this year.

For starters, if I saw another cellophane rose, tacky card, or other pinky thing coming at me I'd probably scream eh?

And secondly, how can you celebrate love in a country as grim and grey and as broken as Harperland?

The Harper Cons and the Bigot Trap

It was an extraordinary sight. John Baird sitting next to Julian Fantino at a committee meeting this morning, blasting the hideous anti-gay statements of a Canadian religious organization. 

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird took aim Tuesday at "offensive" and "mean-spirited" statements on the website of an organization that gets federal funding to do aid work in Uganda.

A page from the group's website that has been removed, but is still available as a cached version, calls homosexuality and transvestism perversions and lists them along with pedophilia and bestiality.

A day after Fantino defended his decision to fund that organization's activities in one of the most anti-gay countries on earth. And fast tracked its approval.  

Is Stephen Harper a Homophobic Witch Doctor?

Yesterday, as I was writing a post about Mayan witch doctors, a horrible thought suddenly struck me. Could Stephen Harper be a Christianist Ooga Booga Man? I think the evidence speaks for itself. But you be the judge.

First of all you need to know that Uganda is a barbarous place where gay people are hunted like animals and murdered.

Christian evangelical groups also seemed content to whip up a fury against homosexuals. In particular, U.S. evangelicals held workshops in Uganda in 2009, saying gays aimed to sodomize teenagers and undermine African families. Not our fault, they said, when, soon after, a Ugandan politician introduced an Anti-Homosexual Bill that includes the death penalty for homosexuals. And the Minister of Ethics and Integrity once said, “Homosexuals can forget about human rights.”

And that Harper is also an evangelical bigot, whose Jebeesus jumping church teaches that women are born to be subordinate, and that gays are an "abomination." 

Then you should read what happened when a gay radio host from Britain visited Uganda.

“He was scary. He ordered us to cut the cameras then brought a security guard,” Mills recalled. “We ran off and he rang one of our guys saying, ‘Where are they staying? What are the registration plates? I want them arrested. They won’t get far.’”

And how before he was forced to flee, a witchchdoctor tried to "cure" his homosexuality.



Now you should know that like that chicken shaker, Stephen Harper also believes that gays can be "cured."

Because the voices in his head tell him they they "choose" to be gay.

"Regarding sexual orientation...what we are really talking about is sexual behaviour."

Which is why no doubt, why his government continues to treat these Christianist quacks as a legitimate charity.

Even though they can hurt some of those they seek to "cure". And insult all the others.

But then he doesn't care, because he's voted against every bill designed to protect the rights of LGBT Canadians that has EVER been introduced in Parliament.

Yup. Stephen Harper NOT a leader. Just a sinister Christianist bigot, a homophobic witchdoctor. And a REALLY creepy guy.

The good news?

I suggest gay people picket his appearances during the next election campaign.

So maybe some brave journalist from the maggot mainstream media might FINALLY ask him why he believes that gay people choose to be persecuted.

I'd like Canadians to see him try and answer that question, so they can know him better. And imagine what he might do with a majority.

Stephen Harper and Uganda's Gay Genocide

Well I see that Stephen Harper is claiming he privately warned the President of Uganda not to jail or kill gay people.

"It was not discussed multilaterally; however I did raise it directly with the president of Uganda and indicated Canada's deep concern, strong opposition and the fact we deplore these kinds of measures."

But of course I don't believe him.

How could he? When the people responsible are his kind of Christians?

Both opponents and supporters agree that the impetus for the bill came in March during a seminar in Kampala to "expose the truth behind homosexuality and the homosexual agenda".

The main speakers were three US evangelists: Scott Lively, Don Schmierer and Caleb Lee Brundidge. Lively is a noted anti-gay activist and president of Defend the Family International, a conservative Christian association, while Schmierer is an author who works with "homosexual recovery groups". Brundidge is a "sexual reorientation coach" at the International Healing Foundation.

And the Ugandan M.P. who introduced the Gay Genocide Bill is a member of the sinister Christianist political group The Family.

"[The] legislator that introduced the bill, a guy named David Bahati, is a member of The Family," he said. "He appears to be a core member of The Family. He works, he organizes their Ugandan National Prayer Breakfast and oversees a African sort of student leadership program designed to create future leaders for Africa, into which The Family has poured millions of dollars working through a very convoluted chain of linkages passing the money over to Uganda."

In short, the same kind of religious fanatics and homophobes who make up the Con base and are crawling all over Harper's PMO.

If Stephen Harper had really wanted to help save the gay people in Uganda he should have criticized the Ugandan government PUBLICLY, and threatened them with being expelled from the Commonwealth.

But he didn't. And neither did the Commonwealth of Homophobes.

The gays of Uganda have been abandoned.

But we will not forget them.












And when it comes to this Con government. That could have done more to save them but didn't.

Because their executioners are Christianist fanatics.
