I wish I could give last night's debate a more glowing review, but I just can't.
I didn't think the opposition leaders gave Stephen Harper a hard enough time on the things that matter to me, like Bill C-51 and the way that monster has raped our democracy and our values.
But most Canadians care more about the economy than they do about our freedoms.
And in that regard our three leaders did hit him where it hurts.
For ten long years he has schemed and plotted to destroy the Canada he hates so much, by perverting our traditions, and dismembering our democracy.
And now he's got a new plan that he hopes will do both.
Force a long and exhausting election campaign upon Canadians, so he can bombard them with ads from his well funded propaganda machine, while draining the money like blood out of the opposition.
So he can claw them to death in the final stages of the campaign.
And it seems that the Final Battle for Canada is about to begin.
I realize that we are now in the heart of the Canadian summer, and the last thing most Canadians want to think about is politics.
But the PMO never sleeps, there are still rumours circulating that Stephen Harper is planning to call an election in the next few weeks.
Before all those Canadians he's trying to bribe, spend the $3 billion child care dollars he sent them.
And in that regard this may or may not be significant.
You could tell by just looking at him that Stephen Harper hated the very idea. He was angry he was vicious.
He went after the opposition like a rabid hyena for daring to criticize his flawed and dangerous anti-terrorism bill.
He accused the NDP of "attacking the police and the security services."
But in the end he folded like cheap suit, and was forced to surrender some ground.
When I first read that Stephen Harper had an Enemy List I was not surprised. For it's his madness that makes him so dangerous.
But I was worried about my country and its democracy. For no democracy can survive in such an atmosphere of intimidation.
And of course, I was also worried that I was not on Great Paranoid Leader's list of enemies... real or imagined.
For how low can you go eh?
But it turns out the situation is even worse than I thought. Because as Susan Delacourt points out, we are ALL on an even larger list of his friends and enemies.
