As I'm sure many of you know, the Progressive Blogger's site has been down for more than five days.

Or frozen in time.

And if what Scott Tribe, one of the site's administrators reports,  turns out to be true.

It couldn't be a more ominous development.

I've been trying to ignore the so-called Con Woodstock at the Manning Centre this weekend.

Because life is too short.

And there are no signs of (intelligent) life there...



But maybe the deathly gloom is contagious, for I have to admit I've been feeling a little down myself.

During the last election campaign I spent most of my free time trying to encourage young Canadians to vote.

As did a lot of other people and groups all over the country.

I got the feeling that more of them would vote than had voted in other elections. But I couldn't be sure.

Ever since Rona Ambrose became interim leader of the Cons she has been trying to pretend that it's no longer the Harper Party.

For when the Liberals announced yesterday that the deficit will be bigger than expected. 

The Liberal government is setting the stage for a budget deficit that will be nearly three times the maximum $10-billion the party promised during the election campaign.

Well I think it's safe to say that Stephen Harper will not be seen anywhere near Parliament Hill today.

And that he will spend yet another day hiding from Canadians.

Because today would not be a very good day to come out of the closet.

As we all know, when Ezra Levant isn't spouting hate, he's begging for money.

And him and his trusty sidekick Brian Lilley have been known to do or say anything to raise the cash they need to keep their bigot boat afloat.

Well what a difference a day makes. On Wednesday I was worried that Justin Trudeau was being too nice to the Cons.

And warned him it would get him nowhere.

But yesterday Justin and his government more than made up for that momentary lapse.

By delivering two more crushing blows to Stephen Harper's foul legacy.

The Hollow Victory of the Con Bigot Ezra Levant

I wasn't planning to write anything more about Ezra Levant's great "victory" over Rachel Notley's government.

But after seeing the tongue bath he is receiving from our Con media, I thought I should make one thing clear.

Notley made a mistake by banning Levant on the grounds that neither him nor his racist roaches are journalists. Because anyone can be a journalist.

But he should be banned from all clean and decent places because he is a grubby bigot.

Why Playing Nice With the Cons Won't Work

I learned long ago that if you want to help build a more equal, kinder, gentler society, you have to be as tough and as ruthless as the Con zombies who infest this world.

For they will try to destroy you, and being nice will get you nowhere.

So when I heard a group of hapless hacks on CBC's Power and Politics nodding their heads, like pigeons do when they walk. And agreeing that Rona Ambrose was doing a GREAT job as interim leader of the Harper Party.

It could only happen in a country still recovering from the depraved rule of Stephen Harper.

Where members of Ezra Levant's hate mongering site The Rebel were thrown out  of two Alberta government news conferences for posing as journalists.

Only to threaten to sue the government for not recognizing their phoney credentials. 

Rona The Droner Ambrose's Insane Fighting Frenzy

Well I know some people think I'm exaggerating when I say that Rona Ambrose's bombing obsession is now bordering on insanity.

Or when I say that she repeats herself a lot, and that her almost primeval urge to destroy Justin Trudeau can barely be contained.

And yes, I admit that image of Ambrose riding a nuclear bomb was inspired by the way she's trying to talk up a Third World War AND because she's married to a former rodeo bull rider.

It was Family Day in Ontario, and and a slow news day at CBC Ottawa, so they invited Rona Ambrose to appear on Power and Politics.

So she could talk about the subject that excites her the most: bombing Iraq and Syria, and Justin Trudeau. Not necessarily in that order.

And needless to say it was a bomb. A political porn show if ever there was one.

For obvious reasons.

Three days after Bernie Sanders' victory in New Hampshire I'm still floating on a cloud, and dreaming up a storm.

I still can't quite believe my eyes. How could an old leftie calling for a revolution in the United States of America manage to win so convincingly?

Ever since Paul Godfrey ordered his major Postmedia papers to run an ad on their front pages attacking the Liberals, there has been no doubt whatsoever which side that media conglomerate is on.

When I first read Nathan Cullen's proposal to kickstart the electoral reform process, I must admit that I thought the NDP had lost its grip on reality.

With Bernie Sanders seemingly headed for a decisive victory in tomorrow's New Hampshire primary, it seems that the Millionaire's Club is starting to feel the heat, or the Bern.

For first there was Rex Murphy on the National, denouncing Sanders for his class politics, and suggesting he's a communist.

Even though that tool of Big Oil is a millionaire, and lives in one of the glitziest condos in my neighbourhood. So it's yet another conflict of interest to add to Rexy's record.

By the way Rona Ambrose and the Con zombies have been clamouring for the Energy East pipeline to be built NOW, you might think that if it isn't we're all doomed.

The Demolishing of Stephen Harper's Legacy (Continued)

I can only imagine how Stephen Harper must be feeling as he watches his foul legacy slowly being demolished.

But it can't be pretty, and it must be painful. 

Everything he built is being knocked down, and so soon after he was defeated.

Barely two weeks ago he had to look on helplessly as plans for his massive memorial to himself in the heart of Ottawa were scrapped. 

And today it was the turn of the Mother Canada or Mother Harper monument to feel the sting of the wrecking ball...

Michael Harris On the Con Smearing of Justin Trudeau

I was glad to see Justin Trudeau have the courage and the decency to visit Alberta, a province where so many Cons hate him with an intensity that borders on insanity.

I was happy to see him provide Rachel Notley with some badly needed support, and reassure the many suffering people in that stricken province, and the devastated oil industry, that help is on the way.

“I’m going to continually highlight that we’re all in this together as Canadians – that Alberta contributed tremendously to Canada’s growth over the past decade. And now that we’re facing challenging times here in Alberta, Canada will be there for them,” Mr. Trudeau told reporters.

So imagine how I felt to see the Con media in that province attack Trudeau like a pack of rabid zombies. 

Lisa Raitt and the Foul Legacy of Stephen Harper

You might think that Lisa Raitt would have learned her lesson, when she put out this big shiny poster about two months ago.

Only to have it greeted with jeers, howls of laughter, and calls that she be arrested for lying like a thief.

Or a Con artist.

But no, sadly it seems she didn't learn a thing. And she is shameless.

For there she was again yesterday peddling the same foul myth...

The Oily Madness of the Con Queen Rona Ambrose

If Rona Ambrose doesn't stop viewing her job as both interim Con Queen AND the new chief spokeswoman for Big Oil, sooner or later somebody is going to tell her she should go pump gas for them.

Because every Question Period, no matter what's happening in the country and the world, she leads off with some kind of oily question. 

One day she's flogging the Energy East pipeline, the next day she's raving about a carbon tax.

I thought Justin Trudeau's question and answer session with ten so-called ordinary Canadians the other night on the CBC, was a pretty decent little TV show.
