You should have seen them today in the House of Commons, like a two-headed beast attacking the foreign workers monster they created.

Stephen Harper vowing to crackdown on those who abuse the program. 

"It does appear to be the case that there are some Canadian employers who believe that they can have a preference for temporary foreign workers," Harper said. "This government has been clear: That is absolutely unacceptable and it will not be tolerated."

But not the Work for Foreigners scam itself.

And Jason Kenney vowing to tighten up the program he has spend the last six years relaxing.

In more than eight years of blogging against the atrocities of the Con regime, nothing has bothered me more than the way the MSM has heaped slavish praise on its deranged leader.

For while I have always seen Stephen Harper as a monster, who has broken every rule of decency in his bid to change this country beyond recognition.

The MSM has so often called that bizarre behaviour the work of a political genius.

So am glad to see that even Andrew Coyne has finally recognized that there is no there there.

If it wasn't for the fact that it's almost May, and Spring still feels like Autumn, I might have trouble believing I'm still living in Canada, or Harperland.

For when I check out the news these days I can't believe what I'm reading.

First there was Pierre Poilievre watering down his toxic Unfair Elections Act after vowing not to change a word.

And today there was Jason Kenney posing as a champion of Canadian workers. 

Which had me wondering whether he's losing his mind.

The Monster Burger and the Inner Torment of Jason Kenney

Lordy. I think it's safe to say that Jason Kenney is now wrestling with his greatest inner torment since he chose chastity over sex, so many painful years ago.

For he is truly caught between the devil and a Big Mac.

On the one hand, because so many Canadians are so outraged, he's trying to look like he's cracking down on the sordid foreign workers scandal. 

The government's decision to impose a moratorium on the fast-food industry's access to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program will send employers "a very clear message" that abuse will not be tolerated, says Employment Minister Jason Kenney.

On the other hand he also apparently agrees with the CEO of McDonald's Canada, who believes that Kenney's moratorium is "bullshit."

The Incredible Humiliation of Stephen Harper and Pierre Poilievre

Golly. I don't know who looked more more beaten or more pathetic today, Stephen Harper or Pierre Poilievre. It was too close to call.

But what is certain is that both were humiliated beyond belief.

Harper slapped in the face by the Supreme Court, and sent crashing to the canvas.



Stephen Harper threw in the towel on Senate reform Friday after the Supreme Court slammed the door on his hopes of a quick fix for the scandal-plagued upper house. 

His hapless stooge Poilievre forced to walk like a burro backwards on his Unfair Elections Act.

Darth Harper and the Robocall Scandal

Well he must be feeling pretty pleased with himself. He must believe that The Force is with him.

And to be fair, it did decide that Nigel Wright shouldn't be charged for paying Mike Duffy to keep his mouth shut.

It did decide that the sight of an underage drinker lying unconscious in his driveway, after a swim suit party, wasn't something it should be concerned about.

And then today there was this gift from the Elections Commissioner. 

Jason Kenney's Other Big Foreigner Problem

Well surprise, surprise. I see that Jason Kenney has stopped bragging about how he plans to fix the foreign workers problem, after the tragic story of that waitress in Weyburn, Saskatchewan.

Who was reduced to tears after she lost her job to one of them.

And who can blame him eh? When he created the problem, Canadians are so angry.

And even McDonald's admits the problem is so big it's temporarily halting his pimping services. 

Stephen Harper and the Scandal at 24 Sussex Drive

Well compared to all the other scandals he is facing this may not be the biggest. 

Paramedics were called to the Prime Minister’s official residence in Ottawa over the weekend after an 18-year-old woman suffered from severe intoxication. 

The Ottawa Paramedic Service confirmed that it responded to a call involving an 18-year-old who suffered from “possible alcohol intoxication” at an event at 24 Sussex Drive.

But it is scandalous to see how lightly the incident is being treated, and the way the RCMP seem to be trying to protect Stephen Harper.

When I was a boy I sometimes used to dream about running away to sea. 

So the sight of that old sugar boat today, made me dream for a moment of sailing to some place far from Harperland.

Because this tortured country is getting crazier by the day.

I've watched with growing anger how the Con regime has flooded this country with foreign workers, even though so many Canadians are unemployed.

I've watched them use the Temporary Foreign Worker's program to drive down wages and try to bust unions.

I've looked on helplessly as some of my own friends have been humiliated and turned into slaves, with no money, no hours, no job security, no benefits, no nothing.

But this is the limit, and enough is ENOUGH.

I'm glad that The Guardian and the Washington Post have been awarded a Pulitzer Prize for their reporting on the out of control activities of the National Security Agency. 

And that Edward Snowden has been vindicated in his own country.

It has been nearly a year since a thin, pale computer whiz kid named Edward Snowden dramatically burst into our consciousness and became the most important whistleblower of modern times. As a result of his actions, we now live in a very different world and it is one — I would argue — that is better than before. At least now, we know.

Because thanks to him we do know so much more about the world we really live in. 

And so much more about the surveillance state that Stephen Harper is building...

Sometimes I think that getting Canadians to take any kind of political action is like that swan trying to get the wooden ones to follow.

Because we must be one of the most democratically complacent people on Earth.

Well I knew what he was going to do from the moment he announced that Jim Flaherty would have a state funeral, for no good reason.

And then let it be known that he had PERSONALLY written the eulogy he would deliver.

Oh. My. Gobble. I see that Pierre Poilievre is still trying to pretend that his foul Unfair Elections Act is perfect.

But that if the Cons in the House of Turkeys want to make it even better, he might  welcome their recommendations.

"I'm prepared to defend every single measure in the Fair Elections Act," Poilievre told CTV's Power Play on Tuesday. But he added: "From the beginning I've said if there are good ideas that will make this great bill even better, then I am happy to hear them." 

When in fact the bill is hideously flawed, those recommendations are only a SCAM designed to put lipstick on a pig.

Why the Senate Scandal Can Still Bring Down Stephen Harper

For a brief moment today I wondered whether I should remove Nigel Wright from the poster for my new and exciting season of Senategate.

After the RCMP announced that he was no longer under investigation. 

The RCMP has ended its probe into Nigel Wright, the former chief of staff to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and his $90,000 payment to suspended Conservative Senator Mike Duffy.

But then I thought no, this scandal is still as sordid as ever. It couldn't have happened without Nigel. Bless him. And it could still bring down Stephen Harper.

Is Stephen Harper Losing His Grip on Power And His Marbles?

As you know, I've been watching Stephen Harper closely for eight long and horrible years, like some people watch birds.

And I can honestly say I've rarely seen him looking worse. Or more deeply disturbed.

I can't get what what Tom Flanagan says about him in his new book out of my mind:

“He can be suspicious, secretive, and vindictive, prone to sudden eruptions of white-hot rage over meaningless trivia, at other times falling into week-long depressions in which he is incapable of making decisions.” 

So the last thing I needed to see him talking about was the Third World War.

When I saw Linda Frum had caused a flap on Twitter by trying to defend the indefensible Unfair Elections Act, all kind of thoughts flew into my mind.

How could somebody so dumb be a Senator? Can I be one?

Rob Anders and the Ghastly Foulness of the Cons

I see that voters in the riding of Calgary Signal Hill will be deciding the fate today of the Con loon Rob Anders.

And that his opponent believes that this time he can be beaten.

Ron Liepert says it's a myth that controversial Calgary MP Rob Anders is somehow untouchable after a 17-year run in federal politics. And it's a streak he's hoping to bust when federal Conservatives in the riding on Calgary Signal Hill pick their nominee on Saturday. 

So you might think that Stephen Harper and his inner circle would be secretly hoping that Liepert can rid them of a guy like Anders, who is always embarrassing the Cons and making them look like rednecks or MANIACS.

But sadly you'd be wrong.

Are We Losing the Battle to Kill the Unfair Elections Act?

I thought we were making good progress in our struggle to try to force the Cons to change or kill their foul so-called Fair Elections Act.

But it turns out I may have been a bit too optimistic. 

For while we have made progress, it seems far too many Canadians are still too ignorant or too complacent. 

Jim Flaherty: The Man and the Legacy

I think it's fair to say that he was a better person at the end of his political career than he was at the beginning.

He did reinvent himself from a pit bull to something vaguely resembling a pragmatist. 

He did become more human.

And I'm sorry he died before he could spend more time with his family, or on the golf course, as he well deserved. 

But it also must be said that he was a prominent member of  the worst government in Canadian history, and this is part of his legacy. 

Could Stephen Harper Soon Be Toast?

It's all going horribly wrong. His foul voter suppression bill is only making even more Canadians want to vote to throw him out of office.

He has more scandals than he can count. His Cons are fighting themselves or urging people to vote for another party.

Pro-life Conservative MP Kyle Seeback told attendees at Campaign Life Coalition’s national pro-life conference on the weekend that when he was first elected three years ago, he would have told people to “vote Conservative” to make a pro-life difference in the country. 

 “I don’t agree with that anymore. You have to find the right person to vote for, regardless of the party affiliation on this issue,” he said.

So I'm not surprised that some are asking is Harper toast?

I only wrote one post about the Quebec election, because I knew that Pauline Marois' hideous version of the Parti Québécois was going to lose, from the moment she embraced Pierre Karl Péladeau.

And he raised his fist in the air and with a crazed look on his face demanded a country. Even though polls showed that an overwhelming majority of Quebecers didn't want another referendum.

And would make absolutely sure that the PQ couldn't hold one.

He's the most Republican looking MP I've ever seen.

A ghastly little fanatic who could just have easily have been suckled by Karl Rove as he was suckled by Stephen Harper.

But what Pierre Poilievre doesn't seem to have considered is that the bill could blow up in his face.

I went down to my favourite beach today to celebrate the Rites of Spring, only to find the last remnants of the Winter from Hell still clinging to the pier.

And for some reason the sight of that ghastly chunk of ice reminded me of the monster in the movie The Blob.

And of the climate change monster that is threatening our world. 

Has the Time Arrived for a Canadian Spring?

Well I think I can now OFFICIALLY declare that Spring has arrived in Simonville, the small humble corner of Canada where it's never Harperland.

I'm sure Sheila Fraser knew when she called the Con's Fair Election Act an "attack on democracy" that the Cons would come after her like a pack of rabid rats.

And sure enough, as I pointed out in my last post, the Cons are trying to smear her.

And that he was afraid that just allowing Fraser's name to escape his pie hole, might cause him to lose control.

And of course, that would be HORRIBLE....

As I've mentioned before, one of the reasons Stephen Harper's Cons are rushing their Unfair Elections Act through Parliament, is that they want it to become law before Michael Sona's robocall trial begins in June.

And with good reason. Because the bill would make it harder to go after those who would try to steal an election.

When Sheila Fraser was the Auditor General and exposed the Liberal sponsorship scandal, the Cons were only too happy to quote her every word.
