I see Jared Loughner has appeared in court, looking crazier than ever.
While the Republican teabaggers run for cover like cockroaches. The maniac Glenn Beck consoles Sarah Palin.
“Sarah, as you know, peace is always the answer,” said Mr. Beck, reading from an e-mail he sent her. “I know you are feeling the same heat, if not much more on this. I want you to know you have my support. But please look into protection for your family. An attempt on you could bring the republic down.”
As if she was a victim, instead of a dumb right-wing demagogue who doesn't understand that words have consequences.
And David Frum makes an absolute fool of himself by blaming it on marijuana.
After horrific shootings, we hear calls for stricter regulation of guns. The Tucson shooting should remind us why we regulate marijuana.
The stoopid....it hurts. Frum may be more reasonable these days, but he'll ALWAYS be a nerd.
But here's the thing eh? It doesn't matter why Jared Loughner did it.
For the past two years, many conservative leaders, activists, and media figures have made a habit of trying to delegitimize their political opponents. Not just arguing against their opponents, but doing everything possible to turn them into enemies of the country and cast them out beyond the pale. Instead of “soft on defense,” one routinely hears the words “treason” and “traitor.”
Because the right-wing is going to wear this massacre until the end of time. We've got them on video, we've got them on audio tape, we've seen who they are.
And we can use all this to force them on the defensive, not just in the United States, but in this country as well.
Because which party in Canada tries to delegitimize its opponents? Which party turned our Parliament into a hyper partisan pig pen? Which party and what leader bullied Dion, calls Michael Ignatieff a Russian, and suggests that the opposition parties are TRAITORS?
Which party wants to flood our cities with dangerous weapons, and turn our streets sticky with blood?
Yup. I think we just got ourselves a new political weapon we can use to club them like seals. And a great election slogan.
From guns to medicare to prisons and funny money pensions. Stephen Harper wants to turn us into Amerikans.
I must admit I had never heard of Gabrielle Giffords before she was shot. I don't follow American politics that closely.
I can't eh? Not when I have to worry about waking up every day in Stephen Harper's Insane Con Klown Canada.
But the more I read about Gifford, the more I liked her.
And then I saw this picture of an Arizona sunset on the day the bigot law Don't Ask Don't Tell was repealed...
That she posted on Twitter along with this message.
And I liked her even more.
So I thought it was really neat that her 20-year-old gay intern may have helped save her life, and was able to console her in the ambulance.
So what's being a hero got to do with being gay? Nothing really. But I sure love the karma. Helping a friend who helped us fight the bigots and the violent. At the worst moment in her life.
Which is why I thought this was the best news today.
Doctors said they were "very, very encouraged" by her ability to respond to simple commands along with their success in controlling her bleeding.
"When you get shot in the head and the bullet goes through your brain, the chances of you living is very small and the chances of you waking up and actually following commands is even much smaller than that. Hopefully. it will stay that way."
She's in a medically induced coma, so she doesn't know how many people all over the world are pulling for her. How many friends she has. But I bet there are a lot of them.
And what more can you say eh?

Let's NEVER let Stephen Harper turn us into that kind of gun crazy country.
A Congresswoman is shot in the head. A judge, a nine-year-old girl, and four others are killed. Eleven people are wounded some of them critically.The madness.The horror.
Because Giffords is a Democrat, the Republicans are weeping crocodile tears, and claiming a crazy man did it.
But nobody can dodge responsibility for the kind of society America has become. A violent militaristic one, where racism still divides, religious fanaticism inflames the ignorant, and guns are too easy to get.
Where a mentally ill person can get hold of a powerful weapon.
Post a picture on his website.
And nobody hears his cries for help. Or recognizes the danger.
"WOW! I’m glad i didn’t kill myself. I’ll see you on National T.v.! This is foreshadow .... why doesn’t anyone talk to me?.."
"I don’t feel good: I’m ready to kill a police officer! I can say it."
Because it's just too crazy EVERYWHERE.
And the Republicans, and the tea baggers, and the right-wing-radio hosts can't dodge the responsibility for creating an atmosphere of violence.
No matter how it tries, the right cannot divorce itself from the pustulence of its violent rhetoric no matter how many times its practitioners say "not me, not me" after people are murdered for taking these vile imprecations to heart. A few crocodile tears from Glenn Beck won't cut it.
They noted that Jesse Kelly, a tea-party candidate who narrowly lost to Giffords, held a fundraiser at a shooting range in which he invited supporters to "help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office" by shooting an M16 with him. They pointed to an online map, posted by Sarah Palin, in which gun sites marked each congressional Democrat that the former Republican vice-presidential nominee wanted to defeat, along with her frequent use of shooting metaphors.
Oh boy. What's happening in the United States both horrifies and scares me. But I love and admire the many good people in that country. I share their struggle against the hatemongers of the rabid right, and I want to cheer them on to victory.
So this is what I would tell them. Make those Republican teabaggers WEAR this massacre. Use it to attack them harder them ever.
Make Sarah Palin EAT this map. Over and over again.
Tell them they're not patriots they're TERRORISTS.
Tell them if the founding fathers got hold of them, they'd horsewhip them or hang them.
Organize, mobilize, drive those crazies from power.
And above all make it clear to them that they don't speak for America.
Because you need them like you need a hole in the head.
