Gawd. I have to agree with Susan Delacourt. These aren't Canadians they're nothing but teabaggers. The nerd traitors in our midst who would turn us into AMERIKA.
All that remains to be determined is whether they are suffering from rabies or SYPHILIS.
But then who came blame them for being so desperate eh? This sordid scandal must be really bothering them.
It's not like Stephen Harper can brag about HIS roots.
And I'm sure that shouting "We're Number Ten !!!!!!!" isn't as good as shouting "Canada's back !!!!!!!" When we're going backwards.
As the desperate battle to put out the hellish fires at the Fukushima nuclear facility continues.
“What you are seeing are desperate efforts — just throwing everything at it in hopes something will work,” said one American official with long nuclear experience who would not speak for attribution. “Right now this is more prayer than plan.”
I can't help thinking about the heroic plant workers who are sacrificing their lives, to try to save their country, and the world, from a nuclear catastrophe.
One, his body being bombarded with soaring doses of radiation but refusing to give up the fight, wrote to his wife: “Please continue to live well, I cannot be home for a while.”
Or the pain of their families.
One young girl tweeted about her doomed father: “My dad went to the nuclear plant, I’ve never seen my mother cry so hard. People at the plant are struggling, sacrificing themselves to protect you. Please daddy come back alive.”
Heroes is a word that is awarded cheaply these days. But they are the real thing.
Death came to the many firefighters and staff who stayed and the divers who swam in radioactive pools to reach critical valves. Helicopter pilots also fell ill as they ferried in water and cement to smother the whole mess from above. Had they not sacrificed themselves -- or been sacrificed -- the harm would have been a great deal worse to the rest of the public.
To paraphrase that old saying... greater love hath no human, than one who lays down his or her life for others.
OK. So let me get this straight. Bruce Carson, a former lawyer who was disbarred and jailed in the 1980's for defrauding his legal clients.
But still managed to become one of Stephen Harper's closest advisers.
Carson was one of the more seasoned hands in Harper's generally young government when it came to power in 2006, having worked in politics for decades. Many Conservatives lamented his departure when he left for a job in Calgary in 2009
Gets a plummy job under dubious circumstances.
Carson was named executive director of the Canada School of Energy and the Environment in 2008, after the federal government had given them $15 million in funding. Carson had dealt specifically with energy and environment issues inside Harper's office. The opposition said it was conflict of interest.
And then this grizzled Master of the Universe PMO Big Oil, throws it all away for a WATER contract, and his 22-year-old fiance.... a former ESCORT?
The name of Michele McPherson, 22, appears on a secret contract witnessed by Bruce Carson that guaranteed her 20 per cent of all gross revenues from sales related to water contracts on First Nations reserves, according to a copy of the contract obtained by an APTN investigative team.
No...No...NOOOOOO !!!!!!! Monkey God don't torture me so cruelly. It can't be THAT good.
But if it is, all I can say is this eh?
The Con gang must be DESPERATE for ratings.
Now I understand why Stephen Harper is always talking about family values.
Unlike so many other Con scandals I wouldn't be surprised if this story has legs eh?
Or if the Cons are forced to replace their fancy campaign bus with a paddywagon.
And of course, once we defeat those scummy mobsters.
I am glad the Liberals have finally released an attack ad. And I like it because it tells the truth about the sleazy Cons who are stinking out our government.
But I also think it could be more hard hitting. Because it's one thing to call them bad people. Or the mob.
But to be truly effective in a country as disengaged as Canada you have to link truth to consequence. Hit the dumb masses between the eyes and show them what it means to THEM.
Like Dominique Leblanc did the other day during Question Period.
The Parliamentary Budget Officer has confirmed our fears. The Conservative fighter jets are really going to cost double what the Conservatives have been telling us. The amount of $30 billion is how much money the Government of Canada transfers to provinces for health care. No wonder the Conservatives continue to hide the real cost.
Do Conservatives seriously believe that 65 stealth fighters are as important to Canadians as every doctor, nurse and hospital in our country?
And of course they must be darker. Because the threat of a Harper majority is a very dark thing. And in the end this election will come down to this one question:
Would YOU trust Stephen Harper with a majority?
And if you want Canadians to pay attention you must create a mood of menace. Because a lot of people don't vote for a platform, their vote is determined by how they FEEL about a leader.
Which is what I'm trying to do with this slightly revised new/nouveau version of a video I made the other day...
You know I don't get much feedback on my videos.
But after my last one, a guy sent me a comment saying they were LOWER than the Con ads. And he was SHOCKED.
But I was totally flattered eh? Because now I know I'm on the right track, and they ain't seen nothing yet.

The film was inspired by events that were very real and very controversial. Audiences who flocked to “Gojira” were clearly watching more than just a monster movie. The film’s opening scenes evoked the nuclear explosion in the Pacific and the damaged Japanese bodies so poignant to domestic viewers. Godzilla — relentless, vengeful, sinister — looms as an overt symbol of science run amok.
The tragic irony is that this latest nuclear Godzilla is self inflicted.
Japan now has 54 nuclear reactors, ranking third in terms of energy output behind the United States and France. Japan also has an unusually shoddy record for nuclear safety.
But the destruction so familiar....
When I was a boy I carried a teddy bear under one arm, and a Godzilla doll under the other one. When I was a teenager I used to collect the movies. Now I'll never be able to watch another one without thinking of this terrible tragedy.
The good news? The Japanese are an amazingly resilient people. La Presse's Patrick Lagacé quotes Jean Dorion, a well known Montrealer who is married to a Japanese woman.

And hypocrisy. Denouncing the opposition for threatening an election he has been planning for months. Bombarding the air waves with attack ads. And now making sure that when it comes, it will be fought on his terms.
The government has put off until March 25 a Liberal opposition day, which had been tentatively scheduled for Monday.
By delaying it until three days after the budget, the government has guaranteed it will get at least one last chance to trumpet its economic management before heading to the polls.
So now if the opposition parties bring him down on the contempt of Parliament issue, he can say I wanted to give you all those goodies but the nasty coalition didn't let me.
The bad news? A new poll suggests that most Canadians don't want the government brought down over the budget.
The Ipsos Reid poll found that only 27 per cent of Canadians believe the opposition parties should vote against the budget.
A further 17 per cent believe the opposition should wait to see what's in the budget before deciding what to do, while 40 per cent say the budget should be supported.
The good news? Canadians believe that the Cons should support medicare, and social programs. On that battlefield the Cons are vulnerable. And on the question of raping our democracy they stand condemned.
So what will the progressive parties do? Will they go sooner rather than later? Or will they keep the Cons in power for another year?
It's a difficult decision. But all I can say is when you gotta go.
You gotta go...
And the best news? The Cons are more vulnerable than they appear.
And when things are desperate, and you're staring at The Abyss.
In the darkness that is Canada these days, one thing cheers me up.
The sight of progressive YouTube videos sprouting like April flowers. Because Canadians are huge YouTube users, I believe the internet will play a very large role in the next election. The Cons are killing us with their attack ads.
And their Porky Action ones... paid for with OUR money.
So every message counts...
I love that video and that channel. And the name. And I'll be adding it to my YouTube Warriors For Canada blogroll immediately eh?
But at the same time I can't help wondering whether progressives are going to be able to come up with the kind of hard hitting attack ads the Cons so deserve. Because if we don't, we will not survive. And neither will the Canada we know and love.
I understand how they feel. It would be better if we didn't have to use attack ads.
But the sad truth is that in a smug and prosperous country like this one, the only way to attract the attention of a lot of Canadians is to hit them between the eyes with a sledgehammer, and explain slowly and simply what's in it for THEM.
Play to the distrust so many have for Harper, and create a real sense of fear and loathing about what a Harper majority might mean.
Which won't be too hard eh? Because Harper and his Cons are a wonderful combination of Dracula and the Mob.
So in that spirit I made a new attack ad. Because I didn't have much time, I just used stills, and kept it crude and simple.
But if I can make a video, anyone can.
And in a dark time, it's the feeling that counts...
I had a hard time getting up enough energy to blog tonight. Every story I wanted to write about is so depressing. Starting with this one.
As if the poor Japanese people hadn't suffered enough, now they must face their worst nightmare.
As must the rebels in Libya. Because now that the eyes of the world are focused on Japan, who will stop the degenerate tyrant from slaughtering them?
Then there's Obama, the human rights champion Pentagon stooge declaring that the treatment of Bradley Manning was "appropriate."
Obama responded that if Manning's treatment is good enough for the Pentagon, it is good enough for him. "I've actually asked the Pentagon whether or not the procedures that have been taken in terms of his confinement are appropriate and are meeting our basic standards," Obama said, suggesting some of those procedures were to protect Manning's safety. "They have assured me that they are."
"I became upset. Out of frustration, I clenched my hair with my fingers and yelled: 'Why are you doing this to me? Why am I being punished? I have done nothing wrong.'"
And then of course, there's that other cloud hanging over my head. The possibility that we could be fighting an election in less than ten days.
Stephen Harper might finally win his precious majority. And use it to torture and slaughter the Canada we know and love.
Oh boy. Talk about blogging in a nightmare world. If you don't blog you can try to ignore what's going on out there. If you do you can't.
I think I need a break. I may have to give up blogging, and just make videos. Or go back to writing poems about trees, even though the woods are full of policemen.
Or maybe I'll just do what the guy in this new R.E.M. video does.
And hope I'll feel better tomorrow ...

When I heard that Stephen Harper was going to play a desk sargent in some police series on TV, I assumed he'd look like this.
Just like his Con crime fighting package, totally insane, and very American.
But actually it's WORSE...
It's set in Victorian times. I can't tell whether he's playing Big Brother or Jack the Ripper.
And both the clip, and this interview are positively SCARY.
But of course the real mystery is why is Stephen Harper is campaigning on breakfast television, promoting some TV show, instead of attending Question Period, when he says he doesn't want an election?
Why is he blaming his daughter for this cheap propaganda stunt? Who wrote this corny script ?

And who had the bright idea of rubbing grease all over Harper's helmet head to make him look like a gangster? Julian Fantino? Or Bev Oda?
Before she left town in a hurry, in her limo, with the In and Out Gang.
Oh boy. You know only a man as deeply disturbed as Stephen Harper could play Big Brother, Jack the Ripper, and a Con gangster. All at the same time.
And I suppose it's good that he'll have something to fall back on, after he loses his day job, and serves his time in prison.
But you know what's REALLY scary eh? By the time that awful episode airs he could have a majority, and be arresting people for REAL.
Golly. I always thought that having the Con zombie Vic Toews as our Public Safety Minister was a bad idea eh?
It's bad enough that his idea of public safety is to jail every third Canadian. And spend billions on prisons, so he can starve the government of funds, and use that as an excuse to murder eat medicare.
Executive director Chris Duffy said his own office received a tsunami information statement at 9:58 p.m. Thursday and issued their own tsunami watch bulletin just after midnight. It was upgraded to an advisory at about 2 a.m. Friday.
He added the advisory is still in effect and reports it had been lifted were false.
"From the federal side, I understand there was a slip-up there a little while back," he said.
He was referring to Public Safety Minister Vic Toews' morning declaration in a radio interview that the "alert" had been lifted for British Columbia when by late afternoon, the advisory still hadn't been.
One frustrated B.C. emergency official, unaware of who made the comment, said he'd like to beat whoever said it.
Hey buddy, get a number eh? There's only about ten million Canadians ahead of you.
Or better still, wait until the election. So we can beat them ALL back to their crypts in Alberta...or Alabama.
