I wasn't going to write anything about Justin and Sophie's sad separation. But as summer slowly changes to fall, I changed my mind.
I wanted to thank them for representing our country in such a classy manner, and for making us look new and exciting in the eyes of the world.
I'll never forget that, nor will I ever forget how the Cons did their ugly best to destroy them.
For it was, and still is, a horror show.
The Prime Minister of Canada surrounded by a howling mob of Convoy Party Cons, waving their vile Fuck Trudeau flags, and looking like they wanted to hurt him or even kill him.
Sophie Gregoire has talked about how she has tried to shield her youngest children from ugly slogans like these...
And way the monstrous Cons have been coming after them since the separation was announced, is just more of the same.

I don't know where the Justin and Sophie story will go from here. What I do know is that if the Cons were hoping to demoralize the Prime Minister, they appear to have failed miserably.

And is spending millions to try to take advantage of that hopefully temporary situation.

It better not be because of those riots because these people don't give a damn about what has Trudeau accomplish. And did I say that for most of them who have a meany attitude, they were divorced more than even Pierre Eliott Trudeau was at that time.

Oh please let's hope the party can stick his pants back up and explain to us (NOT DURING A DEBATE) why their plan is convincing and that Poilievre will only enjoy votes to only chew and spit them since nothing will ever change, regarding what's with housing for example. I just can't wait to see if some of my peers will ever get their appartment for only themselves for under 600$ in the next five minutes Poilievre gets his majority. And so as our planet is burning. Hi Jackie...I too am sad and angry, and what those Con bullies have done to Justin and Sophie. They really are the lowest of creatures, and the silence of the media is sickening. They all but ignored the Belleville Horror and their indifference to the sewer the Cons are turning Canada into is simply unforgivable. And you're right, the way the Cons are always screaming "protect the children" while going after the Trudeau kids, and exposing other children to their foul and very un-Canadian and perverted behaviour, is simply an abomination. I have read studies comparing the brains of conservatives and liberals, which show that many Con beasts have an enlarged fear gland in their brains. But that's no excuse for their cowardly behaviour. However, what worries me is the number of half decent if not very bright Canadians who are letting themselves be seduced by Poilievre lies. Especially the vote for me and I'll build you a house one, which is absolutely pathetic. The problem as I see it is that the Liberals and the NDP have to counter that lie with a Marshall Plan to construct millions of new living spaces, not just homes but apartments. I know only one friend who lives in a house, Montreal is a city of renters, and we need to build more apartments or Poilievre might just be able to steal the election. And if we don't build those homes the influx of new immigrants and asylum seekers will only make the problem worse.
As for Justin and Sophie, I'm not worried about them at all. Some friends in Montreal who know them, tell me they're sure they will get back together again, after Sophie gets a break from the Con jungle her husband must by necessity live in. It's going to be closer than I thought, but Poilievre is carrying so much baggage that sooner or later Canadians will realize who he really is, and it will be all over. I'm glad that PP is polling so high at a time when it matters so little. However, I do hope that it will jolt the complacent among us into waking up and casting their vote when the time comes. We can no longer assume that JT will win regardless but rather that there's a real chance that the worst possible PM we could ever have could become reality. We can't do that because Poilievre with the help of our smarmy Con media has brainwashed a lot of dumb Canadians into believing that he's some kind of messiah who can, among other things, build them a home if they vote for him. It's the biggest con artist scheme I have ever seen, and it needs to be held up to the light and dismantled piece by piece. His failure to even pretend to want to do anything about climate change is also another weak point. Off-topic, but Harper's right-hand man at the IDU, Mike Roman, is one of the now-indicted co-conspirators in the Trump RICO case in Georgia. I just want to thank Simon for keeping an archive of all the CPC's corruption because I went back and shared a couple articles of his about this guy and Scheer from 2019. Interesting that the IDU website has now deleted his profile, and he is no longer listed as assistant chairman (essentially Harper's consigliere, a promotion from having been the guy who maintains the books). What continues to baffle and frustrate me is how all of this information is there in plain sight, yet MSM abjectly refuses to even mention it at all, preferring instead to jaw on ad nauseam about torqued horse race polls, out-of-context Trudeau quotes from a week ago, and boring, repetitive hot takes and opinion angles about a private matter in the PM's personal life. Polls are funny, Angus Reid (ANGUS. FUCKING. REID.) Has the CPC down to around 36-37% and the Libs up to 31-32%. Which means they are in a dead heat. Angus Reid (!) has LPC at crushing numbers in Atlantic and tied with CPC in Ontario.
What does this all mean? It means it's a minority government unless people stay home. I'll be voting, I'll help bring my fellow condo owners to vote.
Lastly, if Liberals want to get people onside how about some comms? It's not enough to send JT or a Minister out there to make an announcement. LPC should be buying airtime nonstop: papers, radio, Twitter/X, TikTok, BlueSky, Insta nonstop nonstop. LPC should be helping to build a ton of apartments, they should give people housing credits, they should talk to Banks about mortgage rates.

Hi Jackie...I have always believed that the real threat to Canada comes from the far right/religious right in the United States. The Chinese meddlers are just a distraction, and are being used by the Cons and their bought media to disguise those who helped make Pierre Poilievre leader, and are doing their very best to make him Prime Minister. You ask whether our shabby media are "blind, lazy, complicit, blackmailed, or just stupid?" And I'm tempted to answer all of the above. But I think we can narrow it down to stupid and afraid. They are afraid that they will soon lose their jobs, like John Ivison has at the National Post. They believe that dark money from Big Oil and other right-wing business interests can keep them afloat. And as far as the stupid is concerned they seem blind to the diseased misogyny that keeps Poilievre going like some ugly doll from Hell. Take the case of the reporter Teresa Wright who asked Poilievre whether he was courting the far right, only to have PP attack her as a CBC stooge, when she actually works for Global. It was a deranged diatribe and if any in our shabby media bothered to check they would have noticed that nothing bothers Poilievre more than being put on the spot by a female reporter. Again and again he has shown his true colours, and nobody has noticed, or put two and two together. I've reported that when working for the Harper regime he used to get a sick pleasure out of bullying civil servants, until he reduced them to tears. But again nothing but but silence. I blame myself for failing to recognize that those civil servants were almost certainly women, but the pervert pattern is too obvious to ignore. However they are a warning that unless the Liberals step up their game, especially on the housing front, they could lead to big trouble down the road. I think we can all afford to enjoy what's left of the summer, God knows we deserve it. But come the fall we need to hit Poilievre and his Anaconda harder than we ever have before. Hi Pierre...It's not just Abacus, I just saw a Mainstreet poll that gives Poilievre a super majority level of support. As I told you before, none of these polls trouble me too much. The problem is that with no reliable media in this country willing to expose Poilievre's lies and moral corruption, a lot of Canadians are just confused and easily fooled. If we can make up for the absence of a responsible media, and if the Liberals can do more to systematically denounce the Cons AND offer Canadians hope on the housing front, the Cons should deflate like the Hindenburg long before the next election...

I'm a pessimist by nature, but when I come down from panic mode it helps sometimes to look at imperfect historical examples as a way of diffusing my innate obsessive tendency toward five-alarm anxiety.
According to Wiki: The Liberals were in the hole by as many as 13 points at the nadir of SNC in 2019. Leger had a C+13, ARI had a C+11 and Ipsos had a C+10. That's in addition to your assortment of C+8, C+9 single-digit leads that were also pretty bad during what could be called the first major disaster for Trudeau and his Liberals.
That deficit was attained just six months before election day. The Liberals have two years to climb out of this one. Even cutting it by half would still make them competitive come election time. Does that mean complacency, of course not, it never does, but it doesn't have to be a foregone conclusion of doom and gloom either. Something that I'm even having to learn through trial and error, as I've been losing a lot of sleep lately over Trudeau's plight.

The pollsters are trying to demonstrate that Mr. Poilievre's makeover is working. Of course, they and our media fail to ask why the Conservatives believed he needed a makeover in the first place. In general, political parties that are in good political shape do not have their leaders make sudden and jarring changes in appearance and hire a vocal coach to make the leader's voice sound less weeny.
I do not believe the polls for a whole host of reasons but one thing I did note is a few of the polls show the Conservatives up but they also show the NDP down, by at least 5 points off of their 2021 election results. That would reduce them to unofficial party status if that were to actually happen in an election.
So these good summer polls are useless to the CPC because they cannot force an election without the help of the NDP and they will not be doing that anytime soon.
Hi Jackie....Thanks for explaining why despite the bad polls, all is not lost. The Trudeau government still has plenty of time to turn things around, and demolish Pierre Poilievre's house of cards. There is one big challenge in my opinion, and that is doing something to shock the housing situation back to life, and give the millennial generation hope that they might one day be able to afford a house or an apartment. The problem as I see it, is that too many millennials went for homes they couldn't afford, unless interest rates remained extremely low. Unfortunately for them it was only a matter of time before those interest rates started climbing, and now they are in a panic, and instead of blaming themselves are blaming the Trudeau government. To make matters worse, far too many of them have been fooled by the Con man Poilievre into believing that he has a magic formula that will reduce interest rates and magically gift them a home. To correct the situation the government will have to go big or go home. But it can be done, and if Poilievre can be revealed to be a Con man, other big issues like climate change will help finish him off. I admit that I am not as optimistic as I once was, but I'm still confident that the forces of decency will prevail in the end. So yes, I will enjoy what's left of the summer, and look forward to the battles that lie ahead,,,

As you point out, with the NDP not going anywhere it's not likely to bring down the government. So Justin Trudeau still has lots of time for a policy makeover, and hopefully do a better job of exposing Poilievre's many lies. The Liberals have been far too passive, and it's time they went on the offensive. It won't be easy with the Con media so obviously biased, but it's far from impossible. And hopefully when fall and winter arrive more Canadians will be able to imagine the horror of a Poilievre government and will do what must be done to make sure that never happens....

In Sinapore a public house costs less than an Honda Civic. At least that was how it was last time I was there 20 years ago. 80% of people live in public housing. Hi Steve...I agree with you, governments should have a much bigger role in providing housing for Canadians. Leaving it up to the private sector, won't supply us with the kind of rental units we need. We need a cross country mega plan to build millions of units as quickly as possible. The Liberals can do that, the Cons can't. And if you take the housing issue away from the Cons, and expose Poilievre as the fraud he is, the Cons should fall out of the sky like a lead balloon....
