The Syrian Apocalypse and the Con Klowns
I see it's going to be an apocalyptic weekend. The unofficial end of the northern summer that is never long enough.
The sound of fighter jets flying low over my tree house.
And of course this ghastly nightmare.

Alberta and the Climate Change Deniers
Well now we know what climate change could do to Alberta.
At a minimum, temperatures in Alberta are expected to increase by 2 C over the next hundred years; all available global climate models predict this outcome. In response, Alberta's ecosystems are projected to shift northward: for example, the parkland landscape around Edmonton will come to resemble the grassland landscape around Calgary.
At the upper end, under a high global greenhouse gas emissions scenario, the climate models predict drier conditions and temperature increases of up to 6.5 C, which could result in the near-complete loss of the boreal forest from northern Alberta. The boreal region currently covers more than half of the province.
The question I have is what will people think of climate change deniers like Joe Oliver and Stephen Harper who helped lead them to such an arid future?
The Scary Tale of Stephen Harper and Mr Chainsaw
Even by the standards of the Con propaganda machine it was a bizarre photo-op. Stephen Harper, Peter MacKay, and Julie Fantino in a room full of toys, in a community centre in Toronto.
Just so Harper could play Mr Cuddly and Great Law and Order Leader at the same time.
And solemnly declare that he is determined to protect the children of this country from child predators AND Justin Trudeau.

Stephen Harper Declares War on his Enemies
I suppose we should have seen it coming. The strange look in his eyes when he fired that rifle.
The way he kicked off his Great Escape Tour by attacking the opposition like a rabid walrus. While holding up what looked like a handcuff.
And now the Third Sign of the Con Apocalypse.
The unmistakable sign that Stephen Harper is preparing to go to WAR.

Is Mike Duffy Threatening to Bring Down the Con Regime?
Ever since the Senate scandal began I have always wondered why the Con regime went to such desperate lengths to protect Mike Duffy.
Some suggested it was because he was such a good fundraiser. But so was Pamela Wallin and they did nothing to help her.
And I have always believed that the reason they bent themselves and the law backwards to help Duffy, was because they were AFRAID of him.
And now it seems Tim Harper agrees.

Stephen Harper and the Senategate Show
Well according to the Con Ministry of Propaganda and Disinformation, Stephen Harper's main activity today was talking to Barack Obama about the crisis in Syria.
But knowing him I wouldn't be surprised if he spent most of his day worrying about this latest Bob Fife report.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s ex-chief of staff worked closely with two Conservative senators to persuade Sen. Mike Duffy to pretend to repay $90,000 in invalid expenses with his own money, emails show.
Stephen Harper and the Great Fall Offensive
Well he's back in his bunker of his dilapidated mansion. No doubt desperately trying to erase the memory of his disastrous Great Escape Tour.
Or recharging his batteries for The Great Fall Offensive. When the Lord or lightning providing, he will arise from his political deathbed as a Great New/Nouveau Leader and crush his enemies. Especially Justin Trudeau.
But it's just not working eh?
Trudeau is more popular than ever.

Stephen Harper and The Duckman Factor
It's funny eh? But when I saw this picture of Stephen Harper waddling over the frozen tundra, during his disastrous Great Escape Tour, I couldn't decide whether it was some monstrous Arctic goose....or a Duckman impersonator !!!
You know...the deranged and depraved duck detective who is always trying to get people to think of him as a hero, or just love him. But due to his numerous character flaws, always ends up looking like a LOSER.

Stephen Harper's Great Escape Tour Ends Disastrously
Well, as you know, the idea was to get as far away as possible from the ghastly Senate scandals. And the media.
And to try to repair Stephen Harper's tarnished image with one sunny photo-op after the other...
But it all went terribly wrong. Old Duff followed him all the way. ..
So did Pamela Wallin.
And it all ended today with a horrible scuffle, and a foreign reporter getting mugged.
Peter MacKay and the Con War on Marijuana
Holy Jahbesus. You'd think Peter MacKay would be the LAST person to accuse anyone of smoking their credibility by getting high.
Justice Minister Peter MacKay says Justin Trudeau’s credibility is “up in smoke” after the federal Liberal Party leader admitted smoking marijuana around the time he voted in the House to increase penalties for pot possession.
Not after using Con Air to go fishing, sticking us with the bill, and then blowing smoke out of every orifice eh?
And certainly not when EVERYBODY knows that people with glass bongs, shouldn't throw stones, or accuse others of being hypocrites.

Remembering Jack Layton and the Man on the Bike
At the end of a long day, it's always a welcome sight. The little terminal to the Toronto Islands, and in the summer my escape hatch out of the city. But its new name makes it look even better.
Because Jack Layton loved the islands as much as I do. I'd see him there all the time riding a bicycle with Olivia Chow. And of course because like so many others, I loved Jack.
So today on the second anniversary of his death, I thought this was really neat.

Stephen Harper and the Great Squirrel Tour
OMG. When my special satellite feed of Stephen Harper's Great Escape Tour came in tonight I must admit I was shocked.
For there was Great
The Real Crime of Bradley Manning
I suppose it could have been worse. He could have got sixty years, he got thirty-five.
Thirty-five years for telling the truth, blowing the whistle on war crimes.
Among the 700,000 classified documents Mr Manning downloaded while stationed in Iraq was a video that showed a US Apache helicopter in Baghdad opening fire on a group of Iraqis, including two Reuters journalists and their children, who had attempted to rescue a severely injured man. More devastating than the film was the cockpit chatter of the soldiers who joked as they shot people in the streets. "Look at those dead bastards," said one. "Nice," said another.
And embarrassing the powerful. Thirty five years to send a warning to others:

Stephen Harper's Con Klown Tour Continues
Uh oh. Talk about bad timing. It looks like Stephen Harper's Great Escape Tour is turning into a real drama.
Or a Con klown show.
First a Buffalo Airways plane makes a spectacular belly landing short of the runway in Yellowknife.
To remind us of the dangers of flying in the north. Then Harper claims that the Arctic Rangers can handle any search and rescue emergency.
Only to end up with a red nose AND a red face.

Stephen Harper's Cowardly Prorogation Move
Well I told you last night he was trying to run for cover.
Trying to run away from all the sordid scandals dragging down his corrupt Con regime.
And today he proved me right eh?
Because he can spin it anyway he likes, but this is just another monstrous act of political cowardice.
Stephen Harper's Desperate Great Escape Tour
Well I guess he knew he couldn't hide forever eh?
And that he had to get as far away from the media and the Senate scandals as he could, without looking like he was fleeing the country.
Mike Duffy's threat to drag him into court and grill him like a
So up to the North he went on his Great Escape Tour. And now he's bellowing like a walrus !!!

Con Porky Action Plan Ads Pulled for Fraud !!!!!
As if Stephen Harper's foul Porky Action Plan ads weren't annoying enough. Especially since we're paying for them.
Now it turns out his newest ones are being pulled because they are FRAUDULENT !!!
A Harper government advertisement touting a jobs program that does not yet exist has been pulled from the airwaves and won’t be seen again, Global News has learned.

Is Mike Duffy Planning to Take Stephen Harper to Court?
OMG. It's come to this. Stephen Harper and Mike Duffy are no longer good BBQ buddies.
Old Duff feels he's been roasted enough by the PMO, and now he wants Harper to feel the HEAT !!!!
If the RCMP investigation into Mike Duffy over alleged breach of trust reaches court, the senator’s lawyers will call Stephen Harper as a witness and grill the Prime Minister under oath, sources said.
Is Stephen Harper Preparing to Abolish the Senate?
I don't know if it's constitutionally possible, but if anything can bring down the Senate it just might be this audit.
The Senate's internal economy committee has accepted a plan by the federal auditor general to review all senators' expenses, including travel and office expenses, CBC News has learned. Sources have told CBC News that senators will be required to co-operate.
Because the way things are going who knows what porky stuff it might uncover? And since it might take over a year for the results to be known. Which would bring it into the gravitational pull of the next election.
It really makes me wonder whether Stephen Harper might end up campaigning to ABOLISH the Senate rather than reform it.
Gwen Landolt: The Hoggy Homophobe Strikes Back
Uh oh. Bacon Bigot Alert. The ghastly homophobic hog Gwen Landolt is honking again.
Claiming it was very VERY unfair to criticize her for attacking John Baird for speaking out for gay rights in Russia and Uganda.
Because according to her porcine majesty, LGBT people in those countries are not really being persecuted.

The Census and the Dark Harperland Summer
I've never seen a summer like this one. So grey, so cold, so ominous.
And as it turns out so Harperland eh?
For more proof today that if Great Ugly Leader has his way we'll all end up living in perpetual darkness.

Pamela Wallin and the Corruption Cons
Well in the beginning of the end it was almost an anti-climax eh?
Another damning report, another Con Senator being investigated by the RCMP.
The independent audit of Senator Pamela Wallin's expenses has been referred to the RCMP by a Senate committee that is also imposing restrictions on her travel and asking her to repay more of her expenses.
Another Con hack blaming others and refusing to resign.

The Sensational Landing of Pamela Wallin
Uh oh. Everybody take cover. It looks as if this cartoon was only too prophetic.
The Pamela Wallin jumbo is on final approach, and coming in for a heavy landing.
An independent audit of Senator Pamela Wallin's expenses has found ineligible claims amounting to as much as $140,000, and that the number of those claims is in the hundreds, CBC News had learned.
The Jamaican Zombies and the Con Regime
Lordy. What a blast from the past. I haven't used these guys to illustrate posts about the violent homophobes of Jamaica for YEARS.
I thought things were getting better on Zombie Island.
But I see I was horribly wrong.

Jason Kenney and the Octopus Monster
OMG. Run for your lives. It's the octopus monster from outer space, or the Creature from the Con Lagoon.
And it seems like NOTHING can stop Jason Kenney !!!!
Two weeks ago I told you how he was refusing to give up his old job, and humiliating not one but TWO new Con ministers.
And now he's done it AGAIN !!!!

Rob Ford's Drunken Night on the Town
When I stare at that mugshot of Rob Ford. The one that was taken after he challenged a Florida cop to take him to jail for drunk and stoned driving, and was promptly arrested.
I can't help wondering whether more people should have realized where that spoiled son of a millionaire was heading.
Because now we all know eh? And it's not pretty.

The Long Slow Death of Fox News North
Uh oh. Somebody call a plumber, or a mortician. It looks as if Sun TV News, also known as Fox News North or Harper TV, won't be able to make us pay to keep it on life support.
Sun News Network has been denied a guaranteed spot on basic cable TV packages in a CRTC ruling released today.
Maybe.
But the CRTC suggested Thursday it isn't happy with the status quo and proposed "a new approach" regarding the distribution of Canadian national news services.
Which has Kory Teneycke, Harper's old flak, clinging to hope that his stinky fish might survive...
John Baird and the Hoggy Homophobe
Lordy. It's taken me a day to recover from this stunning sight. I haven't seen such a match up since El Macho met La Cuca in the finals of the Tijuana Wrestling League.
And I still can't believe it eh?
Was that really John Baird doing the right thing for once? By denouncing the anti-gay repression in Russia? Brother John?
And was that really the old homophobic haggis Gwendolyn Landolt, spewing and farting in his general direction?

Rosie DiManno and the War on Marijuana
Oh no. How much more can I stand? Not the Great War on Marijuana. Again.
First the Harper Cons come out sounding like something out of Reefer Madness.
Now here comes Rosie DiManno to open up a whole new front in the War on Weed.
By declaring that marijuana shouldn't be legalized, because it makes you STUPID !!!

Climate Change: The Comedy Show?
Well I didn't think anyone would be able to turn the tragedy of climate change into a comedy show.
At least not since the hapless Con stooge Peter Kent returned from the Durban conference to announce that Kyoto was dead. And that was a GOOD thing.
But apparently somebody has tried. And it's getting good reviews.
The Sochi Hate Games and the 404 Kids
Stephen Harper and The Nightmare at 24 Sussex Drive
OMG. It's another Con scandal AND a horror show at the same time. A Nightmare at 24 Sussex Drive.
The old mansion is crumbling, but Stephen Harper is refusing to move out !!!
With Prime Minister Stephen Harper declining to move his family out of 24 Sussex Drive, the National Capital Commission has been unable to perform substantial renovations to curb rising energy costs at the official residence.
He won't leave the Big House, even though it's costing taxpayers an arm and a leg to keep it at body temperature.

Rob Ford and the Scandal That Won't Die
I thought it was strange that at a time when Toronto was convulsed over the police shooting of Sammy Yatim, Rob Ford had nothing to say about what had happened.
Nothing to say about the way the police acted that night.
But instead ducked reporters, and when finally cornered while campaigning for Tim Hudak's Ontario Conservatives seemed incredibly nervous...

Stephen Harper: The Madness and the Blindness
When future generations of young Canadians are forced by their teachers to study the history of Stephen Harper's years in power, the so-called Great Darkness, one question will probably be really difficult to answer.
Because it will exceed their understanding of depravity and insanity.
And it is this one: Why if he was so bad, so mad, such a compulsive liar, and such a ghastly bully, did he fool so many Canadians for so long?

The Harper Regime and the Signs of the Apocalypse
I don't know how I made it to this long weekend in Ontario. But now that I've arrived I've got to say this is the weirdest summer ever.
After the searing heat now it feels like fall.
And after all the other extreme weather events all over the world, I'm not surprised to read that climate change is happening faster than anyone imagined.

Stephen Harper and the Road to Armageddon
Well there he was today in his crumbling bastion of Quebec City, in the province of the fiery nightmare, looking as shaken, or just plain weird, as I have ever seen him.
Trying to reply to Obama's humiliating slap in the face.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper responded Friday to U.S. President Barack Obama's dim view about whether the Keystone XL pipeline would spur significant job growth, holding firm to his belief that the project will boost employment "on both sides of the border" and bolster the continent's long-term security.
But never daring to challenge his figures.

Stephen Harper and the Great Surrender
He likes to pose as a patriot. Or go on and on about standing up for our sovereignty, in the True North strong and Conservative !!!!
He has bombarded us with propaganda about the War of 1812, to show us how we beat the Americans eh?
But now that the Americans are threatening to invade us again, it appears that Great Patriotic Leader is preparing to surrender.

Sammy Yatim and the City of the Dead
I've now seen all I need to see about the police execution of Sammy Yatim.
Almost more than I can bear to watch. And like Rosie DiManno, more than enough to sicken me.
I am sickened that a teenager with a small knife, who’d done nothing more hostile than shout profanities, was felled by a hail of bullets. I am sickened that a suspect already shot and dying was then Tasered. I am sickened by the sight of the officer who’d fired the volley of bullets being pulled back by other cops, as if he needed to be restrained. Again I ask: Who was the impetuous and maddened instigator in this cast of characters?
Stephen Harper's Ugly War on Diplomacy
If you want a simple illustration of where Stephen Harper's sinister Con regime is taking us, all you have to do is contrast two pictures.
This picture of Bruno Saccomani, Harper's former chief bodyguard.
Who now has his own limo, and somebody to open the door for him, as our new/nouveau ambassador to Jordan.
