Climate Change: The Comedy Show?

Well I didn't think anyone would be able to turn the tragedy of climate change into a comedy show.

At least not since the hapless Con stooge Peter Kent returned from the Durban conference to announce that Kyoto was dead. And that was a GOOD thing.

But apparently somebody has tried. And it's getting good reviews.

An intelligent satire about the human dynamics behind climate change that will have you peeing your pants laughing. A modern Adam and Eve deal with anything from international negotiations to the office kitchen, exploring what it is that makes human beings piss in our own swimming pool. It’s a gas!

And despite the description and the clip, when I saw that today I thought hey why not?

When you're living in Harperland laughter is a defence mechanism eh?

Until I saw this picture of the dead polar bear...

The one that looked like a rug. The one that died of climate change.

A starved polar bear found found dead in Svalbard as "little more than skin and bones" perished due to a lack of sea ice on which to hunt seals, according to a renowned polar bear expert.

"From his lying position in death the bear appears to simply have starved and died where he dropped," Stirling said. "He had no external suggestion of any remaining fat, having been reduced to little more than skin and bone."

Then suddenly NOTHING about climate change seemed funny. Because when I look at that poor bear I also see the future of Canada. Looking like a rug after the Cons have finished with it. Shrunken, hollowed out, broken.

But this is still a JOKE.

The Government of Canada supports an aggressive approach to climate change that achieves real environmental and economic benefits for all Canadians.

A really bad one.

And my question remains the same:

What can we do to make absolutely sure that we defeat Stephen Harper and his Cons in the next election? Before they lead us to disaster.

Before they torch the planet...
