Harperland and the Horror of 2012
Golly. It's hard to believe that the horrible year of 2012 in Harperland is finally almost over.
And that I'm still standing.
For if on this day in 2010 I wrote this:
It was the worst of years. The year when the crazed tyrant Stephen Harper ripped a giant hole in the fabric of Canada, chewed on its heart and its liver, and lied through his bloody teeth.
This year was even WORSE.

Idle No More and the Power of Solidarity
One day historians, or forensic psychiatrists, will no doubt argue over why Stephen Harper was prepared to let Chief Theresa Spence die.
Was it because that cold, cruel, man couldn't feel the pain of others?
Or was it because he was a coward?
Saturday, December 29, 2012
Idle No More and the Bigot Voices
As Chief Theresa Spence enters the 16th day of her hunger strike, with Stephen Harper still refusing to meet her, I see his inaction is causing some old Canadian demons to take flight.
Flying out of their internet caves like bats, and emitting bigot sounds.

Idle No More and the Con Denial of History
When I woke up today and saw that it had snowed, for the first time this winter, I felt like I was back in Canada eh?
Because I can't imagine winter in the Great White North without snow. Just like I can't imagine this country without the Québécois or the First Nations.
So I can't understand why a Canadian Prime Minister would refuse to meet with a chief from one of those nations, even though his pride might kill her.

When the Cons Try to Cover Up Murder
His name was Maj. Paeta Hess-von Kruedener.
He was a Canadian peacekeeper who was
Now the Canadian military, and the Harper government, are trying to cover-up how he died.
The Defence Department has quietly removed from the Internet a report into the killing of a Canadian military officer by Israeli forces, a move the soldier’s widow says is linked to the Conservative government’s reluctance to criticize Israel for any wrongdoing.

Chief Spence, Harper, and the Attawapiskat Christmas
I didn't want to blog tonight. I just wanted to enjoy Christmas.
But I couldn't get these two contrasting images out of my mind.
Chief Theresa Spence slowly starving to death.
While Stephen Harper, with a weird look on his face, plays cribbage.

The Cons and the War on Christmas. Again
Oh no. Just when I thought the War on Christmas was over. Here it comes again.
As brought to us by Bill O'Reilly, the Fox Nation, and this year by Santa himself.
Luka Magnotta and My Lost Country
I can't imagine a worse way to end this horrible year in Harperland than having Luka Magnotta awarded the title of Newsmaker of the Year.
For not only is that cruel psychopath smirking in his jail cell tonight.
It also says so much about about the country we have become, and how low we have fallen.

Stephen Harper and the Christianist Threat
Uh oh. Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition. Stephen Harper has admitted he is getting his guidance from above.
Asked about how faith influences his decisions, Harper said that he prays regularly to “ask for strength and for wisdom.”
Which explains the state our country is in, and why the Con regime is going up in flames faster than the burning bush. Or down in flames faster than the F-35.
But doesn't explain why he is ignoring the ninth commandment: Thou shalt not bear false witness.
Idle No More: The Sounds of Resistance
It was a wonderful sound. A glorious sound that made my spirit soar like a bird.
The sounds of native drums beating all over North America.
The Day Stephen Harper Met Homer Simpson
OMG. Somebody call Interpol or the International Hipster Police. I knew the sinister Con operatives in the PMO are desperate, but this is the limit !@#!@
The Con drone who pretends to be Stephen Harper on Twitter is trying to fool Canadians into gagging on the ultimate Big Lie.
By doing his/her/its best to make it look like Great Nerd Leader is as cool as Homer Simpson !!!!

Why is Stephen Harper Afraid of Chief Spence?
It's hard to believe that a native leader from a suffering community, would have to go on a hunger strike, to try to get a meeting with a Canadian Prime Minister.
On the eve of a day of aboriginal protest, the hunger-striking chief of the troubled Attawapiskat First Nation is again calling for a meeting with the prime minister and Canada’s governor-general.
And even harder to believe that Stephen Harper would let her starve rather than talk to her. For either he is incapable of even the smallest noble gesture. Or he's AFRAID of her eh?
Pat Martin and the Rat Faced Cons
Golly. I have no idea why Pat Martin called the Cons rat faced whores.
Martin launched into a Twitter tirade for the ages Wednesday night, calling the Conservative Party “rat faced whores” and attacking Public Safety Minister Vic Toews’ personal life to express his displeasure over not being invited to an announcement for a local infrastructure project.
I know they're always jumping into bed with foreign interests, for money. Or handing out cheese to their supporters. But can rats OINK?

The Ikea Monkey and the Harper Kong
Gawd. If my protest calendar for December wasn't booked solid.
And if I hadn't got plastered at the office Christmas party.
I might have been walking around today with a sign reading "Free Darwin Now."

The Missing Women: The Sorrow and the Horror
Stephen Harper and the Newtown Massacre
Well I see that the camera caught Stephen Harper in an unusually tender moment.
Claiming that he had to turn off the TV when the sights and sounds of the Newtown Massacre became too much to bear.
“I think once you’ve been a father, you’re affected by the deaths of children in a much more profound way than other people. It’s hard for me to talk about it,” he said in a one-on-one interview with Global National anchor Dawna Friesen.
“It’s hard for me to imagine how anybody can be so deranged, so angry, so troubled that they would do such a thing. It’s really beyond our comprehension.”
Which was all very moving eh? If it wasn't so phony. Or so deranged.

Vic Toews and the Bushmaster Man Card
Uh oh. Zombie alert. As if the Newtown Massacre wasn't scary enough, here comes Vic Toews, the Minister of Public Insecurity.
Stumbling out of his crypt to claim that the Cons are protecting Canadians from gun violence.
"We made (it) very clear that there are certain types of firearms that simply should not be in the hands of civilians. They have a very specific police or military purpose, but we believe that they should not be in the hands of ordinary citizens," Toews said.
While conveniently forgetting to mention that the assault rifle that killed all those children and their teachers is easily available in Canada.

Guns, God, Madness, and the Harper Cons
I was glad to see Obama visit the latest community in America to be shattered by gun violence. And I was happy to hear him say this.
"We can't tolerate this any more. These tragedies must end. And to end them, we must change.
So maybe all the poor little children, and the brave adults who tried to save them, didn't die in vain.
But I just wish Obama had mentioned the word "gun" instead of invoking "God" so many times. Because there was more than enough God and madness in America today.

Jim Flaherty and the Theatre of Cruelty
You might think that Jim Flaherty would be satisfied with ramming through his latest Trojan Horse budget.
His ghastly swollen beast stuffed to the gills with toxic waste.
But no. Now he's going after seniors and the Canada Pension Plan.

The Slaughtered Children and the Gun Nutz
I'm sure you know how I feel about guns and gun violence. And how I feel about those who hurt children.
So you can imagine how I feel about this horror.
A heavily armed man opened fire inside a Connecticut elementary school Friday leaving 27 dead — including 20 children — and forcing students to cower in classrooms and then flee with the help of teachers and police.
But for hours I wasn't able to write anything about it. I had to write about something else. Not because I was sad, although I was. But because I was so angry.

Mad King Harper and the Flying Circus
Well mad King Harper, he of the reverse Midas touch, may still covet his golden toy, as it slowly turns into a steaming cow pie.
I want it. I MUST have it !! I WILL have it !! I'm the f***ing King of Canada !!!!#@!!
But sadly for him most sane Canadians, and most in the MSM, know a debacle when they see one.

The Con Plan for Total Chinese Domination
All hail Great Monkey Leader and his
Where if you're Canadian we don't want you.
The B.C. Federation of Labour says documents show it will be 14 years before Canadians replace all the temporary foreign workers from China hired to work at an underground coal mine in northern B.C.

Stephen Harper and the Flying Gong Show
Holy Mayan prophesy. I think I now know how the Con regime is going to end eh?
Not with a bang but a whimper. With acts of sheer folly, and howls of laughter.
For there was Stephen Harper today, in the Con circus that was once our Parliament, accusing the NDP of being a "gong show."
The Monkey King and the Koch Brothers
Sometimes in the court of the Monkey King it's hard to keep your eyes on the prize.
To lower your sight enough to understand his real role in Canadian history.
For while we all know he's now China's latest plaything.

The Cons and the War on Christmas
Oh my Ding Dong. Deck the gazebo with boughs of holly.
Or steaming mounds of horse shit.
Tony Clement, the King of Muskoka and the Minister of Misery, wants us all to know something REALLY important.
He's no grinch, and the Cons don't hate Christmas.

Stephen Harper and the Great Betrayal
Well I suppose we should have known eh?
This is after all Con Canada, home of the Porky Action Plan.
But it turns out that if we want to know what's in the Nexen deal for Canadians, we have to ask the Chinese.

Rex Smurphy and the Harp Daddy Cabaret
He is the worst and most divisive Prime Minister in Canadian history.
A cold, cruel, right-wing ideologue who is trying to change this country beyond recognition, without the consent of most of its citizens.
He has made a mockery out of our Parliament, bullied his opponents, and muzzled scientists. He is a tool of Big Oil, who is selling us out to foreign interests.
He has raped our values, and shamed us in the eyes of the world. But still Rex Murphy wonders why so many Canadians hate Stephen Harper.

Stephen Harper and the Big Sellout
Historians will probably debate whether it was the strange smile, or the way he opened his mouth and showed his teeth, that gave the game away.
Or whether it was the spiffy straw hat.
But nobody will be able to deny that Great Helmsman Leader tried to do the impossible today.

Stephen Harper and the F-35 Debacle
Oh no. Tora, Tora, Tora !!!!!!
I mean... Mayday, Mayday, Mayday !!!!!
It looks as if Stephen Harper's plans for Total World Domination, have come crashing down to earth.
The Montreal Massacre and the Shameless Cons
It's hard to believe that it's been 23 years since their lives ended so suddenly and so brutally.
Their faces still stare out at us, so young and full of hope.
If they had lived some of them might have kids in university today. And some of their daughters might be studying to be engineers, striding confidently down a road that their mothers helped pave.
For let's never forget that they were pioneers, proud young women making a place for other women, in a male dominated profession. And that's why Marc Lepine killed them.

The Day The Cons Went Wild
They have turned our Parliament into a circus, and our democracy into a farce.
They strangle debate, they never answer any questions
Just repeat one Big Lie after the other.
They mock their opponents, like a gang of bullies drunk with power.
But this is the absolute limit.

Harperland: The Light and the Darkness
As I write this they have started voting on the Godzilla Budget in the House of Commons, and what a horror show it is.
The ghastly good ol' boys from the Reform Party whooping it up as they bury our democracy. Again.

Why John Baird Should Be Fired
Three days ago he was the mouth that roared. Lecturing U.N. delegates like some crazed televangelist, as if they were children.
Blasting the Palestinians for daring to ask for humble observer status, claiming it was an "impediment to peace."
But today after Israel delivered what the gentle Ban-Ki-moon described as an "almost fatal blow" to the peace process, John Baird was strangely subdued.
The Day Benny and Steve Got Hitched
Oh no. How could I have been so wrong?
This is no mere bromance, no sordid one or fifty-night stand.
This the real thing.
Harper tweeted on Saturday that he spoke to Netanyahu and that he "thanked Canada for its friendship and principled position this week at the UN."
A love story so red hot it melts the boundaries of decency. Stretches the bonds of sadism. Blows its way from

Con Canada: Harperland or Pottersville?
Oh goody. I see that TV stations have started running It's a Wonderful Life over and over again.
So Christmas can't be more than a month away !!!!
Although I've gotta say I really hate the Con version eh?
Where John Baird plays the senile Uncle Billy, who instead of just losing the money, loses his marbles and his dignity.

Rob Ford and the Con Conspiracy
Oh no. I can't believe it. For a while I thought this was the last I would see of the Con klown Rob Ford.
Standing there, a stunned look on his idiot face, watching his career, and his team, going down the toilet.
And like so many people in Toronto I thought it was a thing of beauty.

John Baird and the Palestine Shame
I didn't think it was possible that John Baird could shame this country further.
Make us look more like stooges, oddballs, or just plain weird eh?
But somehow he managed.
Are the Con Zombies Out of Control?
Damn. Even after studying them for years, I don't think I'll ever really understand the true horror of Stephen Harper and his Con zombies.
I know they're an alien right-wing strain. I know they're political thugs who lie all the time. I know they're the stooges of foreign interests, and foreign governments.
I know they shame us in the eyes of the world. But why do they always go after the CHILDREN?

Rob Ford and the Cherry Nation
Golly. How moving. I see that the old Con Don Cherry is
“It’s unbelievable how they have nailed him to the cross and only because of who he is,” Cherry said. “I feel for him because I have been there.”
And sharing his paranoia.
Will Progressives Defeat Themselves?
In the growing darkness of Harperland, it's hard to know what's the truth, what is illusion, and what's just another Big Lie.
But sometimes the truth is so blinding, like a fire in the sky, that it's impossible to ignore it. Or live like so many Canadians in a state of denial.
For if you're a progressive, and you are serious about bringing down the Con regime, this result should serve as a warning.

Another Good Reason Rob Ford Should Go
When I saw Rob Ford today, sort of apologizing for the first time in his life, I'm almost felt sorry for him.
"Looking back, maybe I could have expressed myself in a different way. To everyone who believes I should have done this differently, I sincerely apologize," Ford said in a prepared statement at a Tuesday afternoon news conference at city hall.
For his voice was hoarse, there were tears in his eyes. And the sight of a Con blubbering always moves me deeply eh?
But then I remembered that he lost his voice cheering wildly at an Argo rally a few hours before, and then I noticed his brother Doug.

Rob Ford and the End of the Moron Nation
Well it was never going to be a pretty sight eh? You can't put lipstick on a Con.
But there was Rob Ford as ugly as ever. Blaming everybody but himself, after hitting the ground with a sickening thud.

Stephen Harper's Humiliating Weekend
Golly. It must be a case of reverse voodoo eh?
The more pins Stephen Harper sticks into his Justin Trudeau doll, the more Justin laughs.
And the more Great Macaca Leader squeals.

Stephen Harper and the Two Justins
OMG. Or should that be Baby Baby? What are Stephen Harper and his absurd Cons doing to our country?
For there was Great Musical Leader today, too busy to meet with the premiers, but not too busy to hand out royal bling to Justin Bieber.
While in the House of Commons the Con chorus wailed pathetically: The other Justin is bullying Alberta !!!!! WAAAAAAAH !!!!!!!!
Friday, November 23, 2012
The Liberals and the Tempest in a Tar Pond
Holy inquisition. What Harperland Voodoo is this?
David McGuinty is being
Ontario Liberal MP David McGuinty apologized Wednesday and resigned his post as the party’s natural resources critic after he said Alberta MPs need to take a nationwide view of energy policies or go home.
While the Cons wank themselves into a frenzy, or swing from the rafters of the House of Commons like a pack of horny monkeys with blue behinds, so inflamed is their outrage.

The Con Bullies and the Dead Children
Three days ago hundreds of people gathered to remember Port Coquitlam teen Amanda Todd.
She would have been sixteen next week, but she killed herself last October after two years of being bullied and cyber-stalked.
It was a beautiful ceremony, both sad and inspiring.

The Many Faces of Stephen Harper
Oh boy. Colour me purple. I see that some professor has finally figured out what I've known all along.
Stephen Harper employs a small army of people to try to make him look pretty.
The Cons and the Gaza Horror
It was the bloodiest day so far in the living nightmare that is Gaza.
More rockets, more bombs, more horrifying violence.
First there were six ambulances, one after the other, unloading the bodies of men identified as militants, at least two of them decapitated. Then came three more, this time with children, dead and wounded. Another ambulance rushed in, then quickly sped back out. Even the medics unloading the bodies grimaced.
More dead children.
The conflict between Israel and Gaza militant groups has claimed the lives of at least 23 children, according to the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, innocents cut down in a battle they barely understand.
Hundreds more have been injured. And for those children who escape the physical toll of the war, there is a heavy psychological price to be paid. Many are traumatised by what they see and hear, terrified of a relentless air campaign, and unable to process the violence and death that surrounds them.
And as the horror continued, and diplomats struggled to restrain both sides, where was John Baird, our Minister of Foreign Affairs?
Delivering this pathetic speech.
Hamas is targeting innocent civilians with an onslaught of rockets. It’s a despicable act of terror, and yet, as Israel responds, as it has every right to, it is the target of condemnation. Canada, however, stands by Israel’s side.
I have never been prouder to be a member of Stephen Harper’s team; I have never felt a greater honour.
For he cannot even restrain himself. He would sound giddy, even at a time like this one. He can't tell the difference between a diplomat and a cheerleader. And like every other Con he'd play politics with tragedy.
Oh boy. Remember when we were known for our peacemaking skills? Remember when we were able to bring even the most bitter enemies together? Remember when we were proudly independent, not stooges of a belligerent foreign regime.
How low have we fallen.
Welcome to Con Canada.
Welcome to poor Gaza...

Why Stephen Harper is no Economist
Oh well. At least now we know why Stephen Harper is in such a hurry to sell us out to foreign interests eh?
It turns out it's because he took the slow boat to China.
A confidential government document obtained by CBC News warns the Harper government has been slow to open new markets in Asia, leaving Canada firmly tied to the troubled U.S. economy for a long time to come.
