Jagmeet Singh's Very Embarrasing Throne Game

I've always had the feeling that Jagmeet Singh sees himself as some kind of medieval warrior.

A shining King of Khalistan who would not look out of place on a throne.

But who knew that throne would be so expensive?

Who knew it would land him in ethical trouble.

On Jan. 16 Singh posted a photo of himself holding his daughter in a grey rocking chair tagging the Toronto furniture company Monte Design on Jan. 16.

Make him look even more like a champagne socialist.

The rocking chair is listed as retailing for $1,895, far above the $200 limit listed, with conditions, in the Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner rules for people in public office.

And have so many people calling him a hypocrite.

With some Cons like Warren Kinsella suggesting that his career is going to take a big hit.

Even though he presumably wants Singh to do well, so he can take votes away from Justin Trudeau.

As for me, I'm not shocked or even surprised. Singh has always had bourgeois tastes...

And while he may be a fun guy, he is definitely NOT a "people's champion."

But what I do find a bit shocking is that he hasn't bothered to apologize for his ethical gaffe.

And whatever this is, it's not enough...

Seriously.

And where did Jagmeet get the idea that he can do what others can't?

I'm also waiting for other DipperCons like Charlie Angus to go after Singh on the question of ethics, or the lack of them.

Like he's always gone after Justin Trudeau, and his poor gentle mother...

But I'm not holding my breath, for the NDP is not the principled party it once was.

Not when Singh is always attacking Trudeau, while sucking up to Erin O'Toole.

Oh well, it's disappointing.

But at least the NDP can have a new song to make its own, while it waits for the report of the ethics commissioner.

It's a much better song than those DipperCons deserve.

Singh can still fantasize about being a great warrior.

And keep trying to show that he  hates Justin Trudeau even more than the Cons.

But when they start laughing at you, it's all over...

  1. I bet Chuckles the Dingus fantasizes about tying Margaret Trudeau in a rocking chair in his basement, as though she were Mrs. Bates. I also notice he's not their point man on "ethics" anymore. It's that rabble-rousing loudmouth Matthew Green. But Chucklefuck was in the Star making up hyperbolic BS that professors are making less than Tim Horton's clerks. Does no one bother fact-checking anymore?

Jagmeet is such a fraud. The cons have no use for their stated beliefs. They just cynically cheer on their polling numbers being inflated so as to split the anti-Con vote. The NDP as an organization is a racket leading their deluded Rose Twitter diehards by the nose. Such "ideological purity" they fault Justin Trudeau for violating: he's wealthy, he's an "elite" etc. etc. etc. He doesn't care about the housing issue, yada yada yada. Andrea Horwath is a landlord, but you don't see Jaggy take it up with her. And now she's about to hand Doug another term. Two sides of the same crooked coin.

I battled the bullshit Bernie saboteurs on my side of the border. I'm really sick and tired of the Canadian equivalent being no different. Bernie's a multimillionaire with a sprawling farm in Vermont. His wife was paid a handsome sum to run Burlington College into the ground. AOC gets a spread in Vogue and gets invited to the Met Gala where she wears a designer dress that says "tax the rich." Spare me the moral sanctimony of being such a champion for the common folk.

Meanwhile in Canada, Jagmeet the joke prances around in his bespoke suits, drives his flashy BMW and custom bikes, and raises hell about so-called ethics breaches of Trudeau's, only to be guilty of it himself. Maybe don't throw stones in glass mansions, Jaggy? Or get off the Internet, put your money where your mouth is and STFU. A good measure of the stupidity of people is the fact that these hypocritical charlatans get any votes at all. What was it John Lennon used to say? A working class hero, that's something to be!

Simon, please NEVER post ANYTHING by WK on your blog again! It only serves to legitimise him.

Amazing how this is a major scandal according to you but the PM'S controversies are all fake.

Yes, Singh made a blunder and if he gets in trouble for it he brought it on himself. But let's examine some differences between this scandal and Trudeau "fake scandals"...or nothing burgers as the party talking points sent to the party trolls tell us (speaking of which I see that you have what's going around social media down to the letter here).

Singh...file is handed straight to the Ethics Commissioner. Singh offers his explanation, one and done.

Trudeau...whether SNC or WE....story changes daily. Government officials resign. Liberal MPs on various committees use every tool possible to shut down the investigation or stonewall it as much as possible. Pretty strange behavior for "fake scandals".

NDP supporters...a few exceptions but mainly meh...he's gotta deal with it.

Liberal supporters when it's the PM...fake scandal...fake news...manufactured witch hunts...I stand with Trudeau...nothing burger...beating a dead horse...the Opposition and media are working to bring down Justin...everyone is so mean to Justin...B-b-but Harper...B-b-but someone else did it too.

Plenty of hypocrisy here all right...and it's coming from you and your readers.

  4. 'Zat you, WK? You working for Jaggy now? Hoping to split the vote?

Or someone from Jeff's troll factory? The bully from the schoolyard?

Not that there's much of a difference at this point. Piss off.

  5. So Jassy proves to be a grifty chancer. Quelle surprise.

The top story from yesterday shows up nowhere on National Newswatch , Ipolitics or Progressive Bloggers. It's the millions of residentioal school records reeased dummies. Marc Miller is becoming a favourite of mine. Reformatories must be in despair .

  6. Hi Jackie....Jagmeet Singh is only in it for himself, he always has, and always will be. When he spends all his time attacking the decent Justin Trudeau instead of his good buddy Erin O'Toole you know he has lost his way. I used to put up with his nonsense, and his lies, and his failure to understand how this country works, but like many former NDP supporters I have had enough. He is not what I imagine an NDP leader should be, and there are days when I wonder where he'd be happier with the Cons. Pity....

  7. Hi UU...I share your dislike for Warren Kinsella, and I was one of the first people he blocked on Twitter. But one tweet, to show how much damage Singh is doing to himself and the NDP, will not legitimize him. After the vile way he has gone after Trudeau, I doubt anything can...

  8. Hi anon@7:50 AM....I hadn't realized how ugly NDP supporters have become, until I was forced to delete a slew of comments that could have come from Erin O'Toole's big mouth. Your comment was the only one I didn't feel I had to delete in the name of human decency. But even you are echoing the Con line, but...but...Trudeau!!!!!!! I find it incredibly hypocritical that NDP supporters believe that Jagmeet can do no wrong, even when he viciously attacks Justin Trudeau for no good reason. Or tries to steal his ideas and claim them as his own. Singh is the star of his own tacky show and that's all he ever will be. Our shabby media is always giving him a pass, but I never will...

Don't think I said but Trudeau anywhere except connected to on the record fact that concerns him.

Again...amazing how events that saw government officials resigning and government MPs trying to stymie efforts to get answers are fake scandals.

As for ugly...it's on full display regarding a video of Singh and his newborn.

  9. Hi Jackie@12:08PM....I think he's probably a Con from Ballingall's troll factory. The Cons know that they can't hope to defeat the Liberals unless the NDP splits the progressive vote. And as I mentioned above, I have rarely been attacked as viciously as I was today by a gang of NDP and Con trolls. And I must say it is very hard to tell them apart. But if those losers think they can intimidate me, they've got another thought coming....

  10. Hi rumleyfips.....I too should have realized that Jagmeet was a grifter, who likes to pose as a "People's Champion" but is only interested in HIMSELF. But at least now, after the abuse I have taken from his DipperCon supporters, I will stop giving him a pass, and expose him for who he really is. And you're right to be impressed by Marc Miller. He is truly dedicated to the Indigenous cause, and I believe he could be the best Minister of Crown and Indigenous Relations, this country has ever seen...

Rock-a-bye baby on Jagmeet's new chair,
if only you knew, just how it got there.
once you are older, then you will see,
that rules there for most, don't apply to daddy.
Poor Jagmeet. It's funny how it never dawned on him on how this would look. Maybe he thought it was provincial jurisdiction and it wouldn't apply to him. The self entitled privilege is astounding.
Great choice of tune, Simon. I was at that concert and I saw them in Ottawa two years prior. It brought back wonderful memories but also sad ones that Freddy's no longer with us. I can only imagine the music we've missed out on if only the same drugs that saved Magic Johnson were available to Freddy when he was ill.

As an individual with a disability I cannot forgive the NDP and the Conservatives teaming up to vote against and kill the bill that contained the pandemic payment to PWD and denying me much needed financial support.

I will also never forgive them for forcing an election and killing the bill that was introduced to create the federal disability benefit.

The bill that contained the payment for PWD passed HOC unanimously and became law in a week. The payment was sent in October of 2021.

No one killed the bill for the federal disability benefit but the Prime Minister when he called the election all on his own.

Karma strikes again. Perhaps Jagmeet will now understand that an ethics violation is a guard rail designed to keep politicians wittingly or unwittingly from entering into a criminal act and not a criminal act in itself. Using it to cast doubt on the integrity of your political opponent is fair game but levering it into an ongoing personal attack on your opponent and his family while knowing full well it was not a criminal act is not ethical in its own right. Hopefully Jagmeet will now be guided by his moral compass rather than behave like some opportunistic jackass in the future. We need more politicians that a least strive to uphold a set of values they claim to represent not more of those that use a team of lawyers and media consultants to determine the legality of the lies they spew under the parliamentary freedom of speech umbrella. Time will tell but the superficial crowd demands a circus and so far it looks like Jagmeet does not have the moral fortitude to challenge them and honestly represent the soul of his party.

Thanks for proving my point that you're exactly like everyone else you accuse of being hate-filled.

Actually I am what is called the swing voter. In other words unlike you I can think for myself and hold politicians accountable.

  16. Hey Simon, why you keep letting these Ballzinger trolls through the door? They keep stinking up the place. I don't believe for one minute that this guy is a swing voter. Maybe he fell off a swing as a kid and it did brain damage. Him being a swing voter is about as believable as him being able to think for himself rather than only about himself.

Perhaps Jeff is renting an office at the Layton Building HQ. Dippers sure could use an infusion of cash. Maybe an online auction of designer rocking chairs and bespoke suits might help. Or some "Annoying Orange" NFTs.

  18. I always chuckle at what passes for "corruption" in this country. It is a joke.

Really, in some countries senior government officials loot the national treasury and put their ill gotten gains in Swiss Bank accounts for when they are eventually deposed and sent into "exile". Meanwhile the junior officials are asking for bribes to do the job they have been hired for, such as issuing drivers licenses. Not that they are any good because cops will still not accept them unless you pay them a bribe.

A two-thousand dollar chair is really small potatoes.

As well, let's remember that using your position to help out friends and family is a human trait that predates civilization. It is part of the human condition and can be no more legalized out of existence than ones sexuality. All we can hope for is having laws and norms that prevent that kind of behavior from getting too out of control and/or prevent it from seriously harming the public good.

Canada is actually doing a good job on that score.

  19. Hi Ottlib….I wouldn’t call what Singh did corruption, unless it’s part of a larger problem. He is just a cheap grifter who although he is always accusing others of not living up to his high standards is guilty of first degree hypocrisy. And it does matter. Once we normalize that kind of behaviour it can only get worse. Singh has yet to publicly apologize and that is unforgivable…
