In the last few days Erin O'Toole and his ugly Cons have been going practically wild, trying to stop the government from bringing back a hybrid Parliament.
And it has been a brutish spectacle. O'Toole is now so desperate he couldn't care less about protecting others from his possibly pestilential Cons.
He just wants to have enough of his Cons in the Commons so they can turn it into a monkey house or a fascist circus.
So he has been going after Trudeau like a bat an ape out of hell.
Or at least he was...
Now he's slowly deflating, after the arrival of Omicron. And looking like a dangerous idiot.
While the Liberals, and the NDP, look like geniuses. The House of Commons decided in a Thursday evening vote to return under a hybrid format, which will allow MPs to attend debates, committee meetings and cast votes virtually if they choose to do so.
And to make matters worse, O'Toole is also looking like a hypocrite, for spending a million dollars on an election studio, to protect himself from the potentially pestilential breath of ordinary Canadians.
Conservative leader Erin O’Toole says $1 million in party funds spent on their downtown Ottawa election studio was money well spent.
Which is sure to make his many Con enemies start sharpening their knives again...
Veteran conservative strategist Tim Powers told Global News that the studio’s price tag is sure to raise some eyebrows in caucus – particularly among those MPs who want O’Toole gone.
“There are always conservatives who are going to question party spending on election outcomes, more vigorously if the election doesn’t produce a win, and they should do that,” Powers said.
Which in turn explains why O'Toole seems to be suffering from what Enzo DiMatteo calls a bad case of bunker mentality.
O’Toole’s strategists are at it again – true to O’Toole’s military training – and are adopting a bunker mentality to now beat back questions about his leadership.
The slow drip, drip, drip of embarrassing leaks is becoming harder to ignore. It’s torturous to watch.
And DiMatteo is right, hiring the grotesque Jeff Ballingall reeks of desperation.
It didn’t work during the election. It’s not working now with the party essentially refrying the same old same old in its social media messaging since the election, including trying to drum up fears of a Liberal-NDP coalition to keep the base in check.
The Conservative brain trust around O’Toole is running out of ideas. It’s all becoming a little tiresome. How long can the charade last?
My guess is the charade won't last more than a few more months.
I've noticed that the SoCons are starting to stir. Starting to let the party know how they feel about abortions and vaccines.
So O'Toole, who was at a Saskatchewan cattle show yesterday, will have trouble holding on...
Which is just as well for this country.
For his anti-Trudeau hate mongering is out of control...
The pestilential Cons are a deadly threat to the life of our decent Prime Minister.
And a mortal threat to us all...
The more the media talk about the hybrid parliament, the less they talk about Con covidiots and O'Toole's shaky grip on the party. I expect a lot more of these distraction tactics as the knives are sharpened for O'Toole.
ReplyDeleteIf a big comet or meter was hurling towards earth and the press asked Justin and Toole what to do?
ReplyDeleteJustin said: Play a lot of Aerosmith and hope Elon gets there on time.
The Tool said: Justin changed the orbit, orginally it was going to miss the Earth
The former BoC chair was on CTV this morning thoroughly debunking the asinine Justinflation meme. Another balloon deflated like a pigeon float at the Macy's parade. Hopefully O'Toole gets a big lump of coal or pigeon poop in his "true blue" stocking for Christmas, complete with an eviction notice signed "Bah Humbug! Yours Truly, the Conservative Party". Ironically it was at a Con holiday party where he announced his doomed candidacy in the first place, right after weak Andy got his very own unceremonious "defenestration".
ReplyDeleteNow, assuming he's gone within the next few months, is it possible that Emperor Harpertine is so desperate that he's floating a different trial balloon -- that of Kylo Ben, the Sith apprentice, being the failed legacy candidate to go up against Trudeau? Ho ho ho and a yippie-kai-yay, that would be fun to watch...
Love the new CPC logo. The Tool may have spent a million on a production studio but the real ace he was counting on was the Con antics in parliament. The crowd watching the crowd of parliamentary chimps is a powerful influencer. With remote work there are no standing ovations, booing, shouting; just elected officials either promoting or obstructing legislation. Boring work, no Rah! Rah! Yeah! we destroyed Trudeau today glue that the Cons so desperately need to cover up their platform of lies.

"Conservative leader Erin O’Toole says $1 million in party funds spent on their downtown Ottawa election studio was money well spent."
ReplyDeleteMoney well spent? Umm, if you say so Mr. tool. Actually, it was the typical Con approach of avoiding difficult questions by keeping Bubble Boy Erin from facing real Canadians during an election campaign. Yes, the same Bubble Boy who opposes hybrid sittings was basically running his campaign in a hybrid setting. Hypocrisy at it's finest. Even more hilarious was this contradiction in terms. "The Conservative brain trust around O’Toole is running out of ideas. It’s all becoming a little tiresome. How long can the charade last?" Enzo's being much too gracious to suggest anyone around the tool has any brains. They lost by using the same worn out Harperpalooza festival of mud flinging, shit spewing rhetoric bereft of any facts or plausible policies. That was the K-Tel Classics Part 2 under Scheer and now their back in the studio for part 4 after part 3's ahem, "money well spent". "A little tiresome" is another gracious description of a worn out broken record. My motto has always been "live and learn". The Con motto must be "live and too dumb to learn". If it keeps them out of power then that's good but at the same time, their base of deplorables keep getting uglier and even more unhinged thanks to the far right rhetoric. They need to be dealt with to the full extent of the law before someone is killed along with the cowardly assholes who stir up the pot then sit back and gleefully gloat over the results.

Hi anon@4:41PM….There is no doubt that O’Toole is trying to distract people from his leadership word. I fully expect him to come out tap dancing with an I Love Oil and Gas tutu on. The problem for him is that those distraction tactics won’t distract the Cons who want to bury knives in his back, and only makes the Cons look like desperate lunatics in the eyes of most reasonable Canadians…
ReplyDeleteHi Steve…Yes, it really is pathetic how O’Toole tried to blame Justin Trudeau for everything. The only thing he can’t blame him for is the bad weather in BC, and that’s only because so many of his Cons don’t believe that climate change is real. Their new shadow environment minister Michelle Rempel has already made it quite clear that her job is to protect the Tar Sands from the evil Trudeau. It’s beyond pathetic…
ReplyDeleteHi Jackie…l saw what that former BOC chairman had to say, and I trumpeted it as loudly as I could on Twitter, by portraying Pierre Poilievre as pissing into the wind. I also demanded that the media denounce the Cons for spreading disinformation about the real reasons for the rise in inflation. But they’ve seen how much riding prices have hurt Joe Biden, so I expect them to keep beating that hollow drum. I’m afraid it will be up to those of us in social media to try to correct the record. It won’t be easy because inflation is hurting a lot of people. But I look forward to using the situation to brand the Cons yet again as serial liars….
ReplyDeleteHi RT….Yes, I think that Moudakis logo is brilliant. The Cons should be forced to tattoo it on their foreheads. Trying to make a health emergency into a freedom of speech issue is about as low as the Cons have ever gone, and they should be ashamed of themselves. But of course they don’t give a damn about the lives of others, and now that the new variant has arrived, the more they keep up their insane demands, the more they will damage themselves…
ReplyDeleteHi JD….O’Toole must be running scared. He knows that the release of the studio information was an inside job, and he must be wondering what else his enemies have on him. If I was them I would demand an audit, because from what I hear the O’Tooles like to live high off the hog. And you’re right, the Cons seem stuck in some real life Groundhog Day. They keep repeating themselves even though repeating something that doesn’t works is a definition of insanity. My guess is that because they a now not much more than the Trudeau Hate Party they get off slandering and threatening the Prime Minister so much, they can’t see how they are hurting themselves. They are bestial people and deserve what is coming for them….
ReplyDeleteSimon, you may be interested in this. Another example of Sergeant Schultz's "bunker mentality."

The absolute irony of a party that continually rails against "communism" stacking the ranks with craven sycophants based on their willingness to clap for Dear Leader. But Trudeau is a "dictator"!
The GOP spent eight years accusing Democrats of being socialists and "anointing" Obama as the "chosen one" who would govern like a "sultan." This would be the same party that now demands absolute fealty to Trump. Rules for thee but not for me.
LPC is too nice (and too smart by half).
ReplyDeleteWhen Skippy goes "Justinflation is causing all this stuff!" LPC should go back with "Imagine Erinflation? Lost public sector jobs, tax cuts for the rich and cuts to services. Can we really afford that?"
Maybe for the next election...speaking of, people are saying 18 months until the next X Marks the Spot, but where is this coming from? O'Toole will just get turfed again, LPC would get a majority and Singh would just be in a hot tub with his spouse or dancing on TikTok and who knows where Blanchet will be, probably pining for the return of the Nordiques to Quebec City.
This is a fine time for the Liberal Party of Canada, and they should use to advance bold, socially progressive policies. Don't waste the opportunity!

ReplyDeleteChantal mused in her latest column that Blanchet may be tempted to go back home and lead the PQ. Not sure where that's coming from, but she seems to have her ear on the ground in QC, so who knows. As for the "18 months" thing, it's a meme that O'Toole is intentionally misquoting Trudeau from the French debate. Trudeau didn't say he would trigger an election in 18 months. He said that most minority governments last for about that long, and an O'Toole minority would probably be even shorter because he has no common ground with any other party, the cons have isolated themselves that much. O'Toole is just trying to run out the clock before a mandatory leader review in 2023 (which is why Batters et. al. want it to happen sooner).
Unfortunately Chantal also seems to have taken the bait from Fife and whoever that random author is, floating a trial balloon with the unauthorized Freeland book. I'm really not sure why this book has been "inflated" as such a big deal. She has two books of her own, and there are countless unauthorized books about Trudeau. Including a Fifty Shades fanfic and an "exposé" that pinpoints the culprit of the SNC-Blahvalin farce as being.. wait for it... alien lizard clone people who sit on the Supreme Court, and whose extraterrestrial identity JWR was going to reveal (Roddy Piper must be rolling in his grave), had she not clashed with the alien lizard clone prime minister. (No seriously, it's a thing.) Doubtful the upcoming Freeland tome will be in that QAnon genre (unless Putin Press puts out a competing volume), but really all this is, is some random person's gambit to sell books. Media is once again buying into their own self-created hype.
Fact of the matter is, literally the only person who has the final decision on Justin Trudeau's leadership of the LPC is Justin Trudeau himself. It seems he and Freeland work best in tandem anyway, so those agitating for a replacement don't seem to have the LPC's best interests in mind. It's Fife, but he and Kinsella aren't going to make a JWR of Freeland. She's too smart to be a backstabber.
As for the pigeon, the tandem tag team in QP are smacking down the Justinflation crap, although Dale Smith argues they should be more forceful and shout it on repeat. That's a valid take. But it's not like they're ignoring the issue altogether. They're just too mature to stoop to juvenile meme levels in doing so. Which is kinda too bad, because I just wrote a song about the pigeon that would have made an ideal retort to Lantsman's lame attempt at old school rap.
