How Doug Ford And the Con Premiers Failed Canada

He was standing in his late mother's garden. He looked terrible, wasted even. He wanted to convince people that after three days in self-isolation he was OK, and in full control of the situation.

But instead he gave the opposite impression. He looked like a man who was losing it, and like so many other Cons doesn't know what he's doing.

First the picture froze, then they lost the audio, then they went to black. For poor dumb Doug, who doesn't know even how to operate a computer, it must have seemed like a nightmare.

And it was, for all of us. Never has incompetence seemed so dangerous.

But as if that wasn't bad enough, then he started to blubber.

Unfortunately what made him blubber and say sorry over and over again was the thought that his lockdowns or mockdowns might have hurt his business buddies.

And the thought that his once sky high polls might never recover.

And none of those blubbery apologies, as far as I could determine, were for all those people who have died because he refused to grant them paid sick leave.

So those crocodile tears count for nothing.

And when the time comes, this hog is going down.

But of course it's not just Ford who has failed his people, all the Con premiers have, and none of them will save us.

According to a recent Environics Research poll, when asked who they trust more to make the right decisions in handling the pandemic, Canadians in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Manitoba were most likely to say the federal government. On the flip side, they were also the four places where residents were least likely to prefer their own provincial governments, with only 18 per cent of Albertans and 20 per cent of Ontarians trusting their premiers.

In fact the biggest lesson of this pandemic is that no decent Canadians can ever trust the Cons again.

By constantly trying to balance the needs of the economy against the imperatives of a dangerous virus, and by catering to their political base rather than trying to lead it, premiers like Ford and Kenney have managed to both frustrate and infuriate their populations. And while they may eventually pay a high political price for their incompetence, the people who voted them into power in the first place ought to reflect on their role in this.

First and foremost, we need to stop electing people who don’t believe in government, and who insist on running them like personal fiefdoms when entrusted with their administration. We saw what the rise of know-nothing, pro-business populism did to Great Britain and the United States, and we may have comforted ourselves here in Canada with the belief that we were better than that. We aren’t.

It has been a painful lesson, but it seems that some Cons are finally getting it.

The good news here is that even some conservatives seem to appreciate that their movement’s ongoing flirtation with anti-intellectual populism is leading them down a dangerous road. As former Stephen Harper adviser Sean Speer wrote in a recent piece, the Liberal government’s new budget is “a powerful (and perhaps sobering) sign that progressives are winning the battle of ideas.”

We are winning the battle of ideas, we have the leader we need.

He beat back the ugly Cons and the smelly toxic Trudeau haters...

He showed them that decency matters.

And soon he's going to bury them...

Ontarians typically vote Lib federally when we have Con premiers. Trudeau better not wait too long to call an election. The way Ford's been looking and sounding lately, he may not last much longer.

  2. Perhaps liberals and progressives are winning the war of ideas because they actually have ideas. Case in point: PMJT and Sophie got their "Tru-Dose" jabs today, helping to discourage AZ hesitancy by getting on board the #GenXZeneca bandwagon. The response on social media was more Q bullshit about their marriage. That poor woman. She's been through enough shit and the Covidiots have to fling more.

Honestly, if Hollywood gossip and buck-a-beer are the extent of what the "opposition" has to offer, why should anyone take them seriously? They have no solutions for actual life-or-death situations that Canadians face. Memes, conspiracy theories and shitposting are not a valid platform in normal times, let alone a pandemic. And come to find out that not only are they not listening to scientists, they're technologically illiterate -- or at least Doug is, with his dope fiend burner phones. Not sure about the Parler trolls in Jeff's employ or Kenney's war room. But in multiple ways, they're all STUPID! Unfit to run so much as a Twitter account, let alone a province or an entire country.

I'm glad to see that the tide finally seems to be turning. Hopefully once COVID washes away, so will the last vestiges of Trumpist loonie toons once and for all. That's all.... FOLKS!

  3. This may be temporary. Just like the "vaccine shortage" narrative that dogged the Federal government eventually took care of itself, as the vaccines began to arrive, the current troubles of the Ford government could subside as more people are vaccinated. It is true that they are not vaccinating people at the rate they have claimed they can achieve but people are being vaccinate.

Once most Ontarians become vaccinated, there will be a sense of relief and the Ford Conservatives can then begin to rebuild themselves politically. I still believe that they have the inside track on winning the next election but the troubles they have been having this spring will make them work for it and it could very well make the next Ontario election a crap shoot. And that is a change from just three months ago when it was apparent that the Ford Conservatives were on track to win the next election, without much of a challenge, the only negative being they would win with a reduced majority but comfortable majority.

  4. It's getting hard to tell the difference between Doug Ford and Mike Harris. Idiots abound in conservative circles.

Judging by Doug's teary performance it's clear he could have used the help of a drama teacher. But, he probably would have turned that down to. What a blubbering fool he was and just like his idol, Trump, in the end it was all about Doug. Doug good, albeit slow, sorry. Trudeau bad, bad bad bad. He seems to forget the billions he's still sitting on from the feds and the billions the feds have paid out in CERB but it's never enough for the sad clown. He'll have to dip into his $ tickle trunk $ to help the people he hasn't killed yet instead of using the cash for personal reasons. Damn that Trudeau eh Dougy? His Con clown colleagues aren't faring to well either judging by that poll so regardless of all the lipstick the Con media tries to slather on them and their daily JT bashing, Canadians aren't being fooled by it.
As Dougy spends the weekend licking his wounds and upgrading his laptop to Windows '98, I hope he takes the time to read what people are saying about him and not just the Lilley fluff jobs that adorn his bedroom walls. People are mad Dougy. Especially this one who basically slices, dices, chops and julienne's him into a pile then uses a flamethrower on the remains. Ouch!

  7. QAnon 8:00PM -- Maybe Trudeau's supporters feel the need to defend him and Sophie because of mindless sausage makers who keep harassing them. You do know that the family has had a number of close calls in just the past year or so alone right? From assassination attempts to COVID to house fires to even cancer?

You try explaining to three young children why a heavily-armed maniac plowed his truck into the family's home. Seems he wanted to kill or "kidnap" their father à la Gretchen Whitmer, so that he could rescue the mole children in the underground dungeon at the summer cottage or stop Canada from becoming a communist dictatorship. Or that the Ottawa bureau chief of the Globe and Mail was floating tabloid innuendoes that their mom caught COVID from getting "cozy" with a British actor. Or that the Cons' "finance critic" spent a whole year pushing conspiracy theories about secret mansions, charity slush funds (cf. the Clinton Foundation), and Great Resets from the New World Order. You do know what they're up against, right? Nothing in the Liberal "fandom" comes anywhere close to this. But do go on about Trudeau "cultists" or TruAnons. Is that you, Jake the Flake?

This is why Sophie hasn't been seen too often in public anymore, and not because of the inane conspiracy theories that trolls keep conjuring up about their relationship. Well, technically it is because of those conspiracy theories, but not because any of them are true. Besides, what the hell do you care if random people online get emotional seeing them get vaccinated? What about the remaining sycophants of Fraud Nation who believed Doug's crocodile tears?

Get a life. Mindless Con cultists, making the MAGA chuds look objective and open-minded one drive-by brainfart in a comment section at a time.

  8. Some folks will rightly point out how difficult the job of being premier is and that critics should shut the fuck up. I don't doubt the job is tough, but he ignored/overrode actual medical and science experts when he shouldn't have.

It sounds like he's more crying about his own (dimming) political future than anything. He had dreams you know. He coulda been a contenda for PM instead of the guy who fed Ontarians into the COVID meatgrinder because his business/religious buddies/supporters needed to get paid.

His crying and blubbering make me loathe him even more. He knew what could happen to people and HE STILL picked poorly.

"Trudeau's mindless cultists...making the citizens of North Korea look objective and open minded one tweet at a time."

LOL. Do you Con Trolls have any other talking points or actual policy points that could help in these matters?

Fucking dumbass (and if you're one of the paid trolls it's money wasted) con parrot.

  9. Hi anon@3:08 pm....I would love to have an election right now, but it's just not possible. There is too much Covid around to make it safe. But don't worry, Ford is a Con beast now, and he'll still be a beast in September...

  10. Hi Jackie....Yes, decency and good ideas are why progressives are beating the Cons. And although I didn't see the Con reaction to that lovely photo of Justin Trudeau and Sophie, I can only imagine. The Cons are like a death cult, and are growing more desperate every day. They know they are going to lose the next election, and they are wailing like banshees. As I said in my recent posts, I am enjoying every minute, and when we finally defeat them, I intend to rub it in every day for the next four years. They will pay for their disgustingness over and over again...

  11. Hi Ottlib...Unfortunately I can't hope that his murderous record will help defeat Ford, because the Truth is that Horvath and De Luca are both terrible candidates. And they are both splitting the progressive vote. But it will be a closer contest, and as long as Ford helps the Liberals win the next federal election, and he will, I will be more than satisfied....

  12. hi rumleyfips....Mike Harris, as the CEO of one of the biggest long-term care chains has had a major influence on Dough Ford. It's why he relaxed inspections before the pandemic began, and why he was so slow to react. Harris did Ontario terrible harm, and set in motion the events that would leave the province unprepared to deal with the pandemic. If I had to rate the two Con beasts, I would put Harris ahead by about five grunting IQ points...

  13. Hi anon @8:00 pm....You know, I feel sorry for Cons like you, so ugly and so bitter. And so willing to call decent Canadians cultists, when Trudeau lives in your heads and makes you so crazy. You have no idea what decency means, and it must make you so miserable. I wish I could help you to be as happy as we are, but all I can suggest is that you ask your doctor to help put you to sleep. And BTW some of your ugly friends also left comments as ugly as yours, but I deleted them upon arrival, and the same thing will happen to you next time...

  14. Hi JD...Thanks for the link to that Robert Hiltz article. It is bang on and very powerful. And who can disagree with this?

Right out of the gate, let’s be clear about something: Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s tears don’t mean a thing.

Ford’s crying act at today’s press conference streamed from his late-mother’s backyard — which hilariously cut out part way through — was a show. A bit of theatre where a man in too deep, too wedded to his own dim ideas about governing, and too arrogant and stubborn to change course, made a show of emotion. Woe is Doug? Fuck Doug.

Doug Ford was, is, and will always be, a dimwitted Con thug. The fact that he is premier of Ontario reflects badly on all of us, as did his idiot brother when he was mayor of Toronto.

But here's the really scary part, the reason he is always trying to make Justin Trudeau look bad is because in his neanderthal brain he thinks that is the way to one day make himself Prime Minister of Canada. It sounds insane, but trust me it's true, he is that deluded. And while we might not be able to do much about removing him as premier, until the provincial Liberals and the NDP get better leaders, I think we can guarantee that the beast will never be Prime Minister....

  15. Hi Jackie...don't worry about that Con loser, everyone know that you are a million times smarter and more decent than he is. I also loved that photo of Justin and Sophie getting vaccinated together, and I intend to use it in my next post. And what makes the Cons foam with rage is because they both look so happy and healthy. I keep lecturing them about decency, but sadly they don't seem to know the meaning of the word, and are more like Trumplings than Canadians. They lost one Great Leader, and are about to lose another Great Leader or Great Dumpling O'Toole. And soon they'll all be sobbing like Dougie...

  16. Hi Dan...I might have been able to forgive Ford if his fatal mistakes were just the product of his abysmal ignorance, but they were not. They were the product of his brutish ideology, they cost thousands of old and vulnerable people their lives, caused widespread sorrow and endless sadness, and for that I can never forgive him. As for that Con parrot, he's just pathetic, and of course increasingly desperate. We have them on the run, and we are going o destroy them....

  17. Hi Nick....The fact that a Con would dare to criticize Jackie is a measure of how disgusting and how desperate they are. To be honest I didn't realize that Con was directing his foul comment at her, or I would have deleted it instantly. I don't mind an occasional foul comment directed at me, but I don't allow Cons to take aim at the great commenters that contribute so much to this blog. So I won't be making that mistake again....
