Is Erin O'Toole Losing Control Of His Own Ugly Cons?

As you probably know, Erin O'Toole is having a tough time trying to pretend he is a really nice guy, AND a strong leader.

The nice guy part went down the toilet, literally, the other day. When he was seen on tape cackling with glee at the thought of forcing Justin Trudeau to move into an outhouse.

Which was weird and disgusting, but did make only too clear why old Outhouse must NEVER be prime minister. Not when he has no class.

And not when he can't restrain himself or his ugly Cons.

For those zombies are totally out of control.

All federal party leaders maintain they don't want an election in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic but the Conservatives appear to be pursuing a strategy that could give the Liberals justification for calling one.

Liberals are accusing the Conservatives of systematically blocking the government's legislative agenda, including bills authorizing billions in pandemic-related aid and special measures for safely conducting a national election.

Not only are they holding up aid for suffering Canadians, to try to provoke the Liberals into calling an election, in the middle of a pandemic, which is diseased.

The many SoCons in the Con caucus are also up in arms, and vowing to make their presence felt at the upcoming Con policy convention.

The social conservative wing of the party has been working diligently to get their fellow travellers selected as delegates, and so gain a say in the party’s policy direction. How effective they’ve been in their mission is not known. But two sources told the Star that they anticipate a sizable minority of delegates are committed social conservatives — enough to potentially tip the scales in policy votes.

Which could blow the Cons new image as a moderate party right out of the water.

But the religious fanatics aren't the only ones losing confidence in O'Toole's leadership.

One MP told the Star that the Erin O’Toole of the last six months is not the “true blue” Conservative he branded himself as during the leadership.

“What is our platform? What are we doing?,” the MP, who agreed to talk about the mood in caucus on the condition they not be named, said.

There are many others, and it won't be long before they start going after old Outhouse...

And who can blame them eh?

These latest poll numbers really couldn't be worse...

With the Liberals soaring, and the NDP so close behind, O'Toole is clearly leading his party to disaster.

And so soon.

It took us two years to destroy Andrew Scheer.

But already the Con clown O'Toole is just about done.

And in the place where he truly belongs...

  1. The Leger poll has not changed in over a month. Any changes in the estimates are within the margin of error.

The most interesting thing about the poll is the NDP estimates and what it is doing to NDP partisans. I stated in a comment on your last post about Mr. Singh that NDP partisans are now interested in gaining power at any cost. Looking at the comments about this poll that is apparent. None of the NDP partisans seem to care about the risk of handing the Conservatives government if it means the NDP can get closer to their goal of winning power.

There is nothing wrong with that. The NDP reaching for power is fine. That is what normal political parties do. However, if, as a progressive, you are willing to risk saddling Canada with the most regressive government in its history in order to achieve that goal you forfeit the right to call your party the "conscience of Canadian politics" and the self-righteousness that has always gone along with it. You are now just a supporter of a party that looks and acts like the Liberals and Conservatives. Wear it.

Oh, and these very same partisans do what all partisans do. They take polls that make their party look good and say they are credible and true but those polls that show your party is not looking so good must be because the pollster is a shill or some other excuse. So Leger is the gold standard but EKOS is not because its estimates put the NDP at 15%. If it were opposite so would the opinions on each polling company. Hint: both polls suck for reasons I have stated many times.

As for Mr. O'Toole he is just inept. Politically tone deaf, too weak to bring the more extremist elements of his party under control and totally unprofessional. If you want to be Prime Minister you have to act like one. I will not say he will never be PM because politics does not work that way. However, he is certainly making it much more difficult for himself in achieving that goal.

  2. Simon, I'm back! I took a break from Canada politics because it was looking so bleak and stupid back in February, all I could muster were some birthday messages to the kids and a new one about the Dr Seuss controversy that the Republicans are trying to gin up to take attention off their own shitshow of a party.

I just checked your last couple of posts and it still looks like Justin and the Liberals are doing OK. Not astronomical, but OK, and better than I had expected, in fact. I was really disappointed to find that I had to turn to social media anyway to get coverage of Biden's virtual meet-and-greet with Trudeau, because our media is just as incompetent as yours, and spent all day obsessing over Tiger Woods. They're experiencing withdrawal from Trump chaos, the monster that they created. They hate competency and want Biden to fail and it shows. Biden seems to be channeling Pierre who he had great respect for and it appears that, finally, Justin is too.

Did O'Stoole really say he wants Trudeau to live in an outhouse? Oh, for crying out loud. I really didn't think anyone could have debased the Cons more than Scheer did, but along comes the Tool Man to say hold my beer -- er, milk, I guess. Wow, he really isn't the sharpest Tool in the Tool shed. Maybe you should start doing cartoons of him as the Tidy Bowl Man.

Did Skippy and Chuckles have any traction in exhuming the dead horse of the WeGhazi bullshit or does nobody gives a fuck anymore? I'm guessing that the polls show the latter. Dipper numbers always artificially inflate in between elections, and then come back down to reality once voters move to strategically block the Cons.

Good to see everyone again. I hope J.T. and the Tru Grits get to "spring forward" into a bigly tremendous majority real soon.

  3. Hi Ottlib...Yes, the NDP seems to be doing better than it has for a long time. Too bad it's probably because of Jagmeet's Singh's smearing of Justin Trudeau. Singh lies almost as much a Scheer did, he ignores how our federal system works, and makes grand promises that are designed to be popular, but are as hollow as can be. He has benefited from almost no media attention, but hopefully that will change. For he can never elect an NDP government, but he could split the vote and elect a Con one...

  4. Hi Jackie....Welcome back !!!🎉🎉🎈I missed you a lot, and I’m sure others who read this blog did too. Your amazing knowledge, and fighting spirit are an inspiration to us all. I hope you had a good rest and are feeling better now. This pandemic really does test us to the limit. And there are days when I find it very hard to blog. But we have a better world to build, all our efforts count. And we are making progress. The ghastly Trump is still brooding like an ogre in his castle, but he is much diminished, and I’m still dreaming of seeing him in handcuffs. And here in Canada things are also looking up. The Ugly Cons are losing their vaccine issue, and Outhouse O’Toole has never looked worse. If it wasn’t for our lousy media he’d be flat on his face. But at least now we can say, Jackie’s back so you better mind your manners...😉

By copying the Con strategy of anti lib headline grabbing and pretending to have a get things done leader it would seem all the NDP will accomplish is help elect the Cons while still leaving them in third place. Perhaps there are other dynamics at play and some of the more progressive Cons who buy into the hate Liberals and presto leadership propaganda would consider voting for the NDP. Especially those that live in provinces with Con leaders at the provincial level. If this shift does exist it is likely temporary as the Cons will out promise the NDP near election day as lies are easy and besides who will notice once they are mired in divisive political quicksand afterwards. The best NDP strategy would be to attack the Cons directly and watch them splinter when they loose the next election. This would guarantee them at least an opposition place win in the future. Then again perhaps they just like third place.

    Welcome back, Jackie!

Yes, it does appear the Cons are heading to third place, thus expect their attacks to increase on EVERYONE. Now they are attacking the Chief of Defence, next it will be Chrystia Freeland, then Trudeau, then...this is why it is _imperative_ to return the Liberals to power, hopefully with an NDP Opposition, to keep it morally grounded.

The splintering of CPC into its religious zealot/conspirationists and a more prog branch has been a long time coming, and can only help progressives overall.

Lean Tossup has the LPC at 164 seats "if an election happened today..." so expect more vitriol from O'Toole.

  8. Recently found out that a well- known and liked family GP is vying to run in the next Federal Election in my riding. I am sad because he is not on "my team".

So, in a moment of madness do I suck it up and vote for the person or the party????

In a recent byelection provincially.......I refused to vote because of a similar situation.

  9. I don't comment much about Simon's foray into cons and neocons' abject approach to destroying the current prime minister's efforts, but I certainly enjoy reading every blog entry and comment made to tackle it. I too missed Jackie's sardonic and pleasingly caustic humour and I'm glad she came back for more. Merci beaucoup pour vos efforts!

  10. Hi RT....The NDP are mimicking the Con strategy, but although it has given them a bit of a boost, once their many lies are exposed, and once people realize that voting for them could split the vote, I expect that support will crumble. I had hoped the NDP and the Liberals would work together during this pandemic, but the NDP hardliners are still bitter about their 2015 loss they were unable to rise to the occasion...

  11. Hi Pierre....I would love to see the Liberals win a majority, with the NDP as the official opposition. For that to happen the Cons would have to splinter into their different factions, and from what I see their upcoming policy convention could do a lot in that regard. I will be keeping my fingers crossed...

  12. Hi Marmalade....It's a tough decision, and for me it would depend on how strong the Cons are. If your vote could elect a Con MP I would put personal considerations aside and vote progressive. The stakes are just too high. i.e. no medicare as we know it, mutilated social social services, no CBC etc etc...

Simon, O/T but I hope you're following how Premier Botched Ford and General Bungle Hillier are completely screwing up the rollout. Doctors and health units are in the dark as to what comes next from these idiots. I cant say I'm surprised but the depth of incompetence on display has been stunning. Please report on this.
On a brighter note, welcome back, Jackie. I would love to hear your take on this as well.

    Hi Simon

"i.e. no medicare as we know it, mutilated social social services, no CBC etc etc..."

Included in the etc etc is the deadly sin of obfuscating action on climate change through lies and promises that will lead nowhere but disaster. We have seen this to some extent in their responses to Covid but the human disaster related to climate change is a slow moving freight train that will crush everyone in its path if allowed to gain even more momentum. The other etc. is the growing number of religious fundamentalists that believe they are engaged in spiritual warfare against the devils disciples. Trump effectively harnessed this crowd further fueling Canadian aspirations. The two put together conjures up visions of offering up sacrifices instead of relying on common sense and science to battle the destructive forces unleashed by climate change.

  17. JD, I was thinking about writing something about Dug and his very smrt general fucking up the Ontario rollout (again), but I think I may issue another fuddle duddle salute at Charlie the tuna and his pet pigeon for their desperate attention-seeking scheme to have the K-brothers arrested. Simon already wrote about Skippy's demotion. Looks like he isn't taking it too well. Chuckles meanwhile has sunk to a new low. Going after Margaret and Sophie wasn't enough. Now he's pulled Ella-Grace into his obsession. SMH.

I think we know what all this is about: blasphemous rumours, as Depeche Mode once said. Skippy's gone full QAnon but social media is pushing something else. As Ottlib said, the NDP have no right to proclaim themselves the high and mighty morally righteous conscience of parliament any longer. I give it a week or two before they call Big 'Dris before the committee to... testify about his whereabouts with Sophie. Wasn't that what Fife was winking about last March when she got sick? Cue up Maclean's and DicklessPW to publish another tabloid exposé on Margaret and the Rolling Stones. Gimme shelter.

Pee Pee Poilievre, the "wee" WE tyrant, and his noble knight Sir Charles the Hypocrite, who only thinks he's the model of a modern major general. What was it Napoleon said at his Waterloo? "Able was I ere I saw Elba."

  18. Hi JD....I’m sorry I have been so exhausted that I haven’t had the energy to write about what I think of Doug Ford and his criminally irresponsible regime. But I will, we must all start organizing to try to light a fire under Ford and his murder clowns as Dale Smith calls them. And of course start preparing to defeat the ugly Ford Nation in the next election..,

  19. Hi RT....Thank you for reminding me to include O’Toole’s nonexistent plans to fight climate change on his list of crimes against Canada. I keep forgetting, and it’s so embarrassing. I can only say that I am so exhausted that I have trouble remembering what day it is, so I’m going to have to plead insanity. 😉 But I’d like to assure everybody that I am slowly recovering and will be my usual self soon. And look forward to taking on the religious fanatics and other kooks who now infest Outhouse’s Cons...

No worries, Simon. As exhausted as you are, you're still able to churn out a lot of blogs. Add to that the massive amounts of fodder our decrepit Cons are providing and you must be left with the difficult choice of "where do I begin"? I wasn't aware of(until Jackie pointed out) what Peewee and Chucky were up to and it clearly shows a despicable desperation to revive a long ago dead and now skeletal horse. Damn them. Damn the whole fucking lot of them.

  21. Hi JD....Yes, it's true, the Cons and the NDP are trying to beat some life into the long dead WE horse. It's a disgusting spectacle, but it only makes them look bad. I'm trying to stay away from that story, these days life really is too short. But now I'm getting my energy back, if I have to remind people of the real reason Poilievre dropped out of the Con leadership race, I'm only too ready....
