Why Erin O'Toole's Desperate Makeover Is Failing So Miserably

As I'm sure you know, Erin O'Toole is desperately trying to improve his image. After being forced to expel the hate mongering religious fanatic Derek Sloan he's now claiming that the Cons are a totally new/nouveau party.

But sadly for him it's all going horribly wrong.

It seems you really can't put lipstick on a hog, or a Con.

Not when O'Toole lies all the time.

Like claiming that he moved swiftly to expel Derek Sloan, when in fact he once bragged that he was his biggest supporter...

Or how about his latest smarmy lie just a few days ago, when he claimed that he was a good friend of the Muslim community...

When in fact, in the aftermath of that brutal attack, he led the charge against the non-binding motion M-103 that condemned Islamophobia, whooping and hollering like all the other rednecks.

And his ugly Cons are still the party of bigots, and religious fanatics.

Then there's his vow to kill the CBC, so it can be replaced by a Fox News type right-wing network.

Just like the Cons in Britain are trying to do to the BBC.

Which doesn't sound too new/nouveau, or too Canadian to me eh?

But my fave is his latest hollow promise, a pledge to give Quebec and the other provinces all the medicare money they want.

Even though he has vowed to mutilate medicare and has done it  before...

Which in itself makes him unfit to ever govern this country.

Luckily most Canadians seem to have already come to that conclusion themselves, for this poll of polls is devastating.

The Liberals have inched over the majority government threshold in the seat projection, though the chances that the party would actually win the most seats if an election were held today is roughly 50/50. The Conservatives have been unable to make any headway, while the New Democrats are in a position to win about as many seats as they did in 2019. The Bloc Québécois has seen its support drop in Quebec compared to the last election.

Can you believe it?

Even after all the filthy froth from the dirty old Cons in this country,  if an election was held tomorrow Justin Trudeau could win another majority!!!

As for poor old Erin O'Toole, he isn't going anywhere, and he knows it.

His makeover is failing miserably.

He's still the absurd leader of Canada's evil Trump Party.

And as I've said before, he's going to take it down with him...

  1. I hope they don't get any traction being given a boost on the vaccine issue, by their pet propagandists like the Globe & Fail. Trudeau is getting feistier giving pushback on the PMQs, and bizarrely even Vassy seems to be approaching a level of marginal credibility.

I'm pissed that Moderna is the latest to pull out the rug, but last week it was Pfizer, now Pfizer is gearing back up again. It angers me that things outside of Trudeau's purview -- whether it's the premiers fucking up or realities of the supply chain -- are being framed as his fault. Especially when the old tool has no plan.

It's going to be tough to hang on until March when it starts to even out, but I try and tell myself the fact the Cons are yelling this so loudly from the rooftops means they must be desperate. I have no reason not to trust Trudeau. It's the media who are liars.

The bill coming up on social media regulation should be interesting, after today's Proud Boys announcement. The old tool didn't do a damn thing when Rachel Harder started screeching about "diversity of thought". AKA free speech for racists. Fact is the Cons are still a party of lies and hatred, and no amount of supply-chain hangups or lipstick on Porky O'Toole can change that.

  2. The liberals under Justin are not fighting the war with skunks, and it seems to be working. Grievance politics is for losers and the Conservatives just dont get it.

  3. Not sure if you saw this. They want to bring back WeGhazi. Trudeau, Telford, Morneau, the K-bros -- even harass that poor old couple who got anti-Semitic death threats after Bergen posted their phone number on Facebook. They'll come after Margaret soon enough. Charlie and his pet pigeon just love to kick old ladies. It's a fetish.

Jesus, SNC didn't even get this level of obsession. There's nothing more even to dig into about the WE thing itself, so who gives a shit about prorogation? What the hell is going on? Lockdown psychosis? By god, hasn't this dead horse been beat into glue and been decomposing for half a year already?

The Cons big tent is a collection of old legacy issues ranging from oil, guns and governance based on religious beliefs. The Tool is the carny barker at the front entrance wearing his safe and secure confidence inspiring uniform with a hint of military undertones. Unfortunately the tent is rather dingy and the barker is uninspiring so the only real strategy is to depopulate the Liberal tent by using well paid alarmists to continually shout fire in the hopes he can snare a few fleeing souls as the rest stampede off into the wilderness. Its a rather cynical strategy that assumes people are easily deceived but perhaps if they fumble around long enough they will eventually find enough virtual gasoline and a spark to blow it all up including their own tent as the Republicons have discovered. Fortunately time is not on their side as they scurry from one false alarm to another.

  5. I would increase health transfers without conditions

    Party time in the provinces!

Even an idiot like Doug Ford is too canny to say something like that.

    Panic & desperation?

If it weren't for our thoroughly disgusting media blowing the vaccine situation way out of proportion in a desperate attempt to fluff the tool and rebuff JT, those polls would be much worse for the trump-north party. They're adding more stress and anxiety upon Canadians in a time when reassurance and patience are needed, not fake outrage and scare tactics. That there are vaccines available so soon was a monumental achievement on its own and should be celebrated for it. They will make their way here along the oft-times bumpy road but they will get here. What really pisses me off is that the libs are really working hard to get the vaccines into Canada and the cons and their media mouthpieces have been working hard to destroy the good work that's been done. To hell with you all is what I say. If you want to help then do us all a favor and kindly STFU!!!!!!!

I saw this and just had to share it.
    https://nationalpost.com/editors/note-to-readers-our-disappearing-headlines
The National Compost whining about Google and Facebook stealing their fake news. The funniest part was calling their content "reliable, trusted journalism that informs you and keeps governments accountable". What a crock of shit. The sooner the fake right wing news has been expunged from Canada the better.

  8. So Ivison, that windbag bagpiper and disgrace to Scotland, is out with a new article about an Abacus poll suggesting the Liberals are taking a hit on the vaccine doomsaying. I'm not surprised, but I am disappointed. That being said, it turns out it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

    https://outline.com/dZVrjB

By the tone of Coletto's tweet, I was expecting a lot worse, like a complete reversal of fortunes. Turns out the Liberals are statistically tied, still ahead by one, and the Cons aren't picking anything up. Trudeau's personal approvals have dropped into the net negatives, but even Ivison concedes that this slump is probably temporary turbulence, so he's pushing for a vote of no confidence before the window closes. Which I'm sure would go great for them, being at fault for an election in a pandemic. Because the poll also shows the old tool's negatives rising even more. Anand and Champagne were stellar in committee and the old tool still has no plan.

This article offers a more balanced view of the behind-the-scenes vaccine work, though I'm still incredibly skeptical of that guy in Calgary who claims he could have produced the vaccine overnight.

    https://outline.com/edHfAt

I'm taking off for about a month or two until this all evens out. The DipperCons want to haul back the WeGhazi inquisition, and start a new one on Canada-U.S. relations just to blow smoke in advance of Biden's visit. The guy on the Power Panel referred to COVAX as Xanax. I should probably go take one myself. My head is starting to hurt from all the stupid.

I left a nice birthday message for Ella (2/5) and for Didi (2/28) on my blog. Anyone who has Twitter? Please share it with @JustinTrudeau. I'll be back in spring. Six more weeks of bullshit. I know it's not forever, but right now it looks like the dumb is getting worse than the disease.

  9. Hi Jackie...I'm sorry it's taking me so long to answer comments these days, I'm just completely exhausted. I've had to complete a project in half the time I normally do, and between that and Seb's scary adventures on the front lines, both of us could sleep for a month. And yes, the vaccine hysteria doesn't help. The Cons, the NDP, the Bloc, and our ghastly media have totally disgraced themselves. I know they are biased, but I never imagined they would distort the facts and try to scare Canadians the way they have. It's unforgivable, and I intend to go after them all harder than I ever have before. When I can find the energy to levitate myself off the couch...

  10. Hi Steve....Sadly I'm sure the Cons have managed to scare some Canadians, and that has cost the Trudeau Liberals some polling points. It's a sad thing when Trudeau has done such a great job and is being blamed for something that is not his fault. But as the vaccines start to flow into the country again I'm sure that Trudeau's popularity will return, and it will be yet another fake scandal that will like all the others quickly be forgotten...

  11. Hi Jackie...I saw Mark Kelly, promoing his Fifth Estate WE story on the National, and I quickly changed the channel. For I need to be reminded of that ghastly fake scandal like I need a hole in the head. Honestly, what is the CBC thinking?

  12. Hi RT.... I'm pretty confident that Erin O'Toole isn't going to get anywhere by trying to scare Canadians with the vaccine story. I think most Canadians know what he is like, and are not impressed. So he can throw all the faecal pellets he wants at Trudeau, but the stench will stick to him, and he will NEVER be prime minister...

  13. Hi jrkrideau...It can only be desperation, and after all the billions the Trudeau government has given the provinces to shore up their health care systems it's criminally irresponsible. O'Toole is definitely not a leader, and I predict that after he loses the next election even his ghastly Cons will rapidly reach the same conclusion...

  14. Hi JD...I agree, the media has disgraced itself trying to smear Trudeau with the vaccine situation, even though the production delays have nothing to do with him, and only show how smart he was to line up all kinds of other vaccines so that Pfizer and Moderna are not our only choices. I find it criminal that our shabby media should try to boost their ratings by scaring Canadians, and I hope we can teach them a lesson they will never forget. I hope to bounce some ideas off you and the others this weekend...

  15. Hi JD...The media has never been more corrupt and more Con, but they want us to support their demands for more government money? Good luck with that one. They can all go bankrupt as far as I'm concerned...

  16. Hi Jackie...Thanks for passing on that Ivison story, but please don't remind me that he was born in Scotland, for that Con fluffer is an absolute disgrace to his birthplace and his profession. But as you point out, the Abacus poll is not as bad as I feared it might be, so don't get too depressed. I don't blame you for feeling that way, these are hideous times, and the way the Cons and their grubby stooge media are behaving is enough to depress any decent person. But Trump has gone, O'Toole is going nowhere, and whenever an election is held I'm sure Justin Trudeau will be victorious. So take a little break to decompress from all the bullshit, but don't make it too long because we all need you to inspire us to keep us going for the finishing line....

I hope the fiasco continues down south. Not a nice thing for our neighbours I know. But the contrast helps the side I want to win and its their own fault I'm not nearly as confident as you and believe the conservatives could easily squeak back in. The party of no solutions that covertly harbours the worst elements in Canadian society. They belong more in permanent opposition than the NDP. What do the proud boys and the Islamic terrorists have in common? Like all terrorists their right wing.

  18. The media and the Opposition in this country are convinced that the Liberals are going to call an election in the Spring. They believe this because they still have not figured out that the world has changed as a result of COVID, including the political world. They still believe that the politics that worked before March 16, 2020 works now, even though the US elections should have opened their eyes to the fact that is no longer true.

As well, although they will never admit it the movers and shakers in the Conservative Party and the media allies of the Conservative Party realize that Mr. O'Toole and his message are not resonating with Canadians, to say the least.

As a result, they are trying their best to prevent a Spring election, Mr. Ivison's suggestion notwithstanding. They are terrified of what the result would be if an election were held this Spring. So the reasoning seems to be if they cannot help Mr. O'Toole connect better with Canadians they can bring Mr. Trudeau down far enough to convince him not to call a Spring election.

It is a desperate move on their part. The media in this country may be biased, intellectually dishonest and addicted to punchy narratives that generate clicks but they are not stupid. Although they are not stressing it they are aware of the concept of "global vaccine shortages as a result of vaccine manufacturers ironing out the production bugs at the beginning of vaccine manufacturing". They know that by June Canada will be swimming in vaccines with at least four companies producing Health Canada approved vaccines. So what they are doing is actually setting up the Liberals to look really good by June. The Liberals will be able to point to the troubles of today and the good news of June and say "Look, we fixed it".

One does not do that if one believes their guy can win an election. Of course, the Opposition and the media will have to find something else to bitch about during the summer but that is in the future. The goal right now is to prevent a Spring election. Note, if the Opposition really wants an election the Fall Economic Statement is being debated in The House and it will need to be voted on. It is a confidence motion because it includes spending measures. If the Opposition really believes that the Liberals have botched the vaccine rollout there is an existing confidence motion they can vote against before the end of February.

Of course, that is not going to happen because the Opposition and the media are trying to buy time. Time for Mr. O'Toole to find a way to connect with Canadians and time to find something, anything that can be construed as a scandal against the Liberals.

The irony is I do not believe the Liberals are planning a Spring election. I do believe that they are focusing on the pandemic. Spring of 2022 on the other hand, that is a different story.

  20. Hi anonymous@12:02 AM....Nobody can rule out a Con victory, but polls show that they have a dud as a leader. And despite his attempts to portray himself as a moderate, I doubt that Canadians will trust him at a time when his opposition to the CERB is still fresh, and it will be easy to portray him as a man who might privatize Medicare. The best chance the Cons will have is if the NDP gets enough support to split the vote, but so far at least there is no sign of that....

  21. Hi Ottlib....I agree with you, nobody wants an election at this time. The Cons may be almost tied with the Liberals, but only because the Liberals have lost a few feathers over the vaccine delays , and not because the Cons have made any progress. So if the vaccine delay is resolved by late summer I believe a window of opportunity may open up. But then my crystal ball is a little cloudy these days so who knows when we will have an election. All I am sure of is that when it does finally arrive the Liberals, barring some catastrophic event, will have the best chance to win it...

  22. Hi anon@3:15 PM...Yes I saw that little nugget, and I’m sure the “ Rebel Commander “ must be quite concerned for the Dominion people seem to have lawyers with a good track record. I will have to check the Rebel site to see if they are in a major fundraising mode. If I recall The Rebel was already in some kind of financial trouble, so this could get interesting...
