Has Justin Trudeau Lost The Wind In His Sails?
As a sailor, I know that you can have the fastest boat, and the best crew, but if the wind quits on you, you can still lose.
Which makes me wonder if that is what's happening to Justin Trudeau.
For as this latest poll suggests, the fake WE scandal has had an impact.
But the good news is that impact may be dissipating already.
The WE Charity Scandal appears to be registering and the federal horserace has tightened significantly. The 11-point lead the Liberals enjoyed a month ago has shrunk to just five points. However, there is evidence that the impacts of the scandal are already beginning to dissipate; at 35 points, the Liberals are up two points from our previous poll.
The wind appears to be back in the Liberal sails, and while they are heading for a good place the Cons are going nowhere.
Despite their reduced lead, the Liberal Party would still very much be in contention for a majority government if an election were held today. There are two reason for this. First, while the WE Charity Scandal clearly hurt the Liberals, there is no evidence that it has helped the second-place Conservatives, who haven’t budged in the polls since the election.
Second, Conservative support is heavily concentrated in the Prairies which will translate poorly in terms of seat efficiency. The Liberals, meanwhile, lead in British Columbia and every province east of Manitoba.
As for the NDP, despite the way the disgusting way their loser leader helped Andrew Scheer smear Justin Trudeau, they're sinking fast.
And with just 15% in B.C. and 11% in Quebec all I can say is when the next election arrives, I just hope they can afford life jackets.
Which is as it should be. Decency should count for something, even in this debased country full of dirty old Cons.
Justin Trudeau has done a magnificent job leading this country through a murderous pandemic.
He has never attacked his opponents like they have attacked him. Not once.
So he deserves another majority.
And the sooner the better...
Even con pollsters are saying this doesn't look like a career-ender. Whether he walks away of his own volition because he's tired of the BS is another matter. But that ARI one showed that 68% of respondents felt WeGhazi would have "minimal to no impact" in the longer term (56% say minor, 12% say none at all). The remaining 32% that said it was the worst thing in the entire world roughly corresponds to the flushable turd of the country comprising the Con base.
ReplyDeleteThat poll also showed that it's primarily Cons who say Crooked Justin is a criminal, lock him up, lock him up. 80% of Cons now hate him, whereas the rest are primarily just upset, disappointed or confused. Because Cons are insane, and Scheer is gasping for relevance knowing he has less than a month left in his pathetic career.
But Darrell Bricker, no fan of Trudeau's, even told the Hill Times he felt that the Liberals are more likely to be judged on their handling of Covid and the economic recovery rather than what he termed "ethical lapses." Otherwise known as Hillary email scandals, in other words, contrived smear campaigns. So that's two cons thus far who've said that Trudeau took a hit but not a bad enough one worthy of packing his bags. Reports of his professional obituary have been greatly exaggerated. Meanwhile, threats to materialize his physical obituary have been criminally underreported.
I'm not saying this hasn't been a bad bruise, but Justin's a boxer, so he's used to getting bruises and then healing from them while he lands another punch. The problem I have is that even the best prize fighter stands to be brutalized when getting clobbered by 40 to 50 feral hogs with brass knuckles and crow bars. And by 40 to 50 feral hogs, I mean the garbage media at the feeding trough. All they have done is to amplify what amounts to Jesse Brown's vendetta-driven conspiracy theory against the K-bros as amplified by Scheer, Skippy, Angus and Singh, and now Blanchet just to take the heat off his rape allegations. I'm sure this week's committee hearings will be an absolute circus, but nothing I've seen so far tells me he stands to be anything but calm and collected. As is to be expected.
New facts came out today vindicating everything the government has said about the civil service, the overhead costs, the due-diligence in examining other agencies, and the fact that the money was going to students rather than "rewarding his friends". Not that Skippy cares, or Charlie, or their frothing base desperate to take him down at all costs -- even dangerous ones. I should note that 20 percent of Dippers in that ARI poll want him to rot in jail. 20. Fucking. Percent. The rhetoric from orange and rose Twitter is getting as disturbing as Cons. I don't want to ever hear any Dippers call themselves the conscience of parliament again. This is Jaggy and Charlie's legacy: harassing a 71-year-old woman who suffers from bipolar disorder, and riling up the dirtbag left to such an extent that they want to see a benevolent philanthropist prime minister face the guillotine because "he's rich". Populism is a helluva drug.
I for one hope they make good on their threats (not those threats, their parliamentary ones) and force an election in September, so that he can claw the majority back and shut them all up. So sick of this perverse feeding frenzy BS, and I hope to God this week's meetings are the climax of a bad movie and this summer season of stupid is almost over.
Wow, look at that top voter intention graph. The SS Liberal's tacking to starboard faster than an America's Cup yacht! How long before the ethically challenged captain and first mate hoist the Jolly Roger?
ReplyDeleteLots of breathless Con inspired media hype but no scandalous data as details of the We contract emerge. The charity was being paid approximately 10% of the program cost for administration expenses, subject to audit with no profit allowed. The only way to scam that type of contract is to inflate costs but considering the massive scope and time frame 10% does no allow a lot of wiggle room. Due to the hype the contract was DOA so we will never know if a real scandal would have emerged in the form of a highly paid board of directors, politically connected contract workers or suppliers. But no ... failure to recuse is the scandal with a stinking heap of Con inspired innuendo on the side. It is likely the alternative program will be a bust and students will have to be given the money as a bursary in the fall with no means of differentiating between those that were willing to work and gain experience vs those that had no intention of working due to adequate family finances. Its the Con way...take an ambitious win - win idea and trash it in hopes of destroying Trudeau rather than work to improve a student program that was intended as a beneficial life line during a pandemic. Its painfully obvious the Cons are focussed on destruction rather than helping students and others the students would have helped.
ReplyDeleteRT
I expect the Cons standing will improve once they have a new leader, because of the "new, fresh face" factor, regardless of who wins. But their numbers will decline again once the fall is underway, because they really don't have anything to offer Canada.
ReplyDeleteCrucial to the Liberals this week will be how Trudeau does on Thursday - I expect he will do well, but Cons and media will be waiting to pounce on any mis-step.
Anonycon 10:18, fuck all the way off. Sick and tired of the smearing and gaslighting from your gutter-politics ilk. He lost ground to the third-party saboteurs who are right now abusing his mother for political gain, and there are people who want to kill him because they think he committed "money laundering" and that the K-bros help him to groom kids. Are you happy you got your pound of flesh and riled up the Oswald crowd? You sadistic fuck!
ReplyDeleteRCMP tells Vice that they've recorded no less than 130 threats to Justin Trudeau's life and that's just in their official files alone. The hatred for him is staggering and it's everywhere. CBC, HuffPo, Globe, Sun, Kinsella, Jesse Brown, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, it's rife with filth, accusing him of vague "corruption" all the way to QAnon shit alleging him to be a pederast. You and your kind have really hatched a doozie of a conspiracy theory with help from your media friends, the dirtbag-left Dippers and that vulgar accused rapist Blanchet. Keep pushing this garbage and it'll send Canada into the depths of fascism and get Justin Trudeau killed.
Why don't you shove your own pirate flag in the poop deck and leave Justin Trudeau and his family at peace. I changed my mind, to hell with #elxn44, fuck the leadership and public life and let Chrystia or Carney or Garneau or Ed the Sock or whoever the hell else wants this job take over for him, as long as it keeps the Con scum at bay. This is only going to get worse because the bulldogs have a bone and they're not going to let go.
I read that Vice article and it sickened me, even worse because nobody else cares. They think "ethics" is more important than murder threats and the seedy underbelly of fanatics who believe he molests children and deserves to die. He should just quit for his own safety and sanity and be a free man. I don't even want him to stay in this job anymore and it's all because of sausage handlers like you.
Eat shit and choke on your goddamn "ethics" of which you have none.
The first ch shows that from January 2020 there has been up and down movement with everybody now back to where they were. An election now would probably give us a House that looks a lot like the one we have currently.
ReplyDeleteRT, I was really clinging to hope but I think Trudeau's testimony on Thursday is going to be the last stand of Butch and Sundance. The caucus is panic-stricken, and while facts have come out to vindicate him, politics is not about facts is it. Ekos is cautiously optimistic and bizarrely, so was ARI but that new Leger poll shows a bigger backlash than expected and I surmise that others will too. I am so disgusted with Quebec right now, vague hand-waving about "corruption" is a bigger deal than multiple, credible accusations of sexual assault!
ReplyDeleteI think Justin Trudeau might very well decide that this persecution of his family has gotten to be too much to deal with, and take a leave of absence before bidding farewell and handing off the torch at the November Liberal convention. Which might even be better off for him. It's plainly clear that the fix is in by the fact that the media cares more about this than people who want to murder him. And that Vice article reported what we all know to be true: that there are a LOT of people who want to murder him. What the fuck Canada, you're supposed to be better than us!
Not sure if you read the Canada Politics subreddit but this guy seems to be onto something:
I guess the part we need to know is what will Poilievre, Cooper and Barrett ask the Kielburgers about the PMO, Trudeau, Morneau and Ng and the program and Trudeau's family. I suspect tomorrow will really decide whether Trudeau can survive as PM. I am dead serious because it truly appears that the questions will pertain to past contracts, Trudeau's involvement, Trudeau's family, Morneau, and so on. I am very much awaiting because the Kielburgers will need to answer several of those questions and I suspect they will touch mostly on Trudeau and the PMO, and I believe they will mostly be avoided, somewhat or be avoided entirely.
I am leaning on the ones they are sure of particularly Trudeau's call in 2017 to the Kielburger's, their closeness the Trudeau, if vacations were ever arranged for Trudeau and / or his family. I believe it will spell Trudeau being called and probably getting so much heat there will be no way for him to recover and a resignation will be in order. I hope it doesn't happen.
Tomorrow appears from my eyes to be Trudeau's last day as PM, unless the Kielburgers have been given heat from the Trudeau family. I think they will reveal damning answers. Some don't believe so but I am leaning towards it mostly because yes the Kielburgers have been known to give inaccurate information. I would say it is best to go on the side of caution with any answer but it might and probably will be a minefield for Trudeau and Morneau, but mostly Trudeau. Optics and media heat without true proof will sink Trudeau.
It is likely Trudeau will also resign from politics and Freeland is going in.
It also explains why they didn't want Victor Li paired with the Kielburgers.
Tomorrow is meant to savage Trudeau and his family and get information and cause Trudeau to leave politics.
I won't bother addressing Anonycon again, but my question to everyone else here is: if he does walk in the snow (or sand) and at least you get Freeland or whoever as a concession gift (rather have a secondary Liberal than MacToole or O'Kay), even though we don't have Covid under control yet, can we please, please bring him here to the States? We are collapsing as a country and yet I still think the Trudeau family as a whole would be safer here than at home in Canada!
Hi Jackie....I can’t remember ever being more disgusted at the antics of the Cons and their grubby bought media. Playing politics in the middle of a pandemic is criminally irresponsible. And any Canadian who would judge the Trudeau government for its handling of the WEgate Fake scandal instead of the masterful way it has managed to tame the economic effects of the pandemic Is either a moron or a traitor. People are dying, the frontlines are still fighting and risking their lives, but all the Cons, their NDP stooges, and the mariachi media can do is attack Justin Trudeau. It’s sickening, but the day of reckoning is coming, and the verdict of history will be a harsh one....
ReplyDeleteHi anonymous....I personally fly the Jolly Roger all the time. But judging from that poll the Cons and their NDP stooges are already heading for Davy Jones’ locker. Andrew Scheer is weeping like a baby, and Jagmeet Singh is shouting “death to Trudeau Viva Khalistan!!! While Canadians are left shaking their heads and preparing to give the Trudeau government another massive majority. AAARGh !!!
ReplyDeleteHi RT....The way the Cons and their NDP stooges destroyed the dreams of more than 35,000 young Canadians for crass political purposes in the middle of a pandemic must go down as one of the foulest acts in modern Canadian history. The WE organization isn’t perfect, it’s too big and too corporate for me. But it attracts some of the finest and most idealistic young people in this country, so the way it is being attacked is absolutely disgusting. However, it will only motivate me to fight the Con scum even harder than I have before, so I look forward to that...
ReplyDeleteSimon I do worry about what Thursday's testimony will bring though. That new Leger looks bad. I really like Justin Trudeau, and I hate seeing him suffer and be humiliated like this when he was only trying to help. None of these committees are designed to elicit facts.
ReplyDeleteI mean, if he prorogued like McGuinty did while a leadership race was held, and flew away to Costa Rica with his family to avoid further persecution, I wouldn't blame him in the least. I give him the utmost credit for fighting the good fight. This whole thing just makes me sick and the seething hatred to see a good organization and a good family destroyed is breaking my heart. I cried last night and I'll probably be crying for months.
He doesn't deserve this any more than Hillary did. I'm scared for him and for Canada. I so, so want him to leave someone else to pick up the mess and tell everyone to fuck off. Not even to fuddle-duddle. Just tell them to fuck off.
I'm waiting for the various inquiries to wrap up before declaring victory. I don't know enough about the WE charity's very complicated operations to opine on their ethical compass or lack thereof. The fact that RBC and others are cutting ties certainly doesn't bode well for their business model, especially if the trend snowballs.

Much will depend on how well the Kielburger brothers acquit themselves before the House of Commons finance committee today. For the sake of their organization, they better come out with guns blazing and a robust fact-based defence. Ditto for Trudeau when he testifies on Thursday.
In the long run, as we learned from Hillary Clinton's media-driven email "scandal," even an impeccable defence may not suffice.
Anon 1pm I fear you may be right and why I keep bringing up Trudeau being the male version of Hillary Clinton. No facts are gaining oxygen outside the Twitter bubble, just personality drama and a prejudgment as guilty guilty guilty. It's like the whole country is enveloped in a Fox News blanket where only one side is presented over and over again. But then as we saw with HRC the same was true of the NYT and CNN joining the race to the bottom, so really the notion of "liberal media" is effectively moot. They are all corporate and they are all corrupt.
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch the K-bros but apparently they delivered even more facts corroborating the government's defense. The problem is the petty pundits were only focused on their assessment of them as "smug". This is what passes for journalism in Canada. All style and no substance. They don't educate the public on issues. They just talk about smirks and giggles and for Christ's sakes they were even talking about why the K-bros didn't wear ties. Five hours of testimony and all the feckless media comes up with is fashion advice?
It's infuriating! They're burying facts because it doesn't fit the narrative that they all jumped overboard on like lemmings and they won't admit that they're wrong. Rosie asked Vichy if she saw a smoking gun. Vichy replied "no not yet" and then the same repertory theater of "analysts" just kept talking about the "optics" and how Trudeau is "scandal plagued" and what this means for the "Liberal brand". As the Russians used to say, there's no news in the truth!
The jury is stacked, and I really do fear that this will be Justin's last stand against the Bolivian army. A big reason why is MEN. Canada is run by MEN. MEN hate the prime minister they call "mama's boy", make fun of his speech impediment (a slight lisp), his emotional sensitivity and how he wears his hair. MEN will go after Telford as Trudeau's "secretary" while their social media sycophants are already smearing her as his side piece (while at the same time saying he's gay??).
Literally no one found it offensive or even noticed that Charlie Anus all but described Margaret as a high-priced whore. Telling the K-bros "you bought her for her last name." Bought her??? MEN are all over social media calling her Castro's bitch, Castro's whore, how much was her "going rate" per night and did she get a discount for all the Rolling Stones. This isn't even about the student grants. This turned into a hate campaign against Margaret, Canada's favorite punching bag for 50 years. And who's doing it? MEN! "Leftists" like Martin Patriquin and Tom Parkin and Comrade Charlie and the rose bros who retweet them, and whose rhetoric makes them no better than CONS!
Then I have a screenshot of Sunday Scrum where Patriquin and three other bald white guys on the panel are practically wetting themselves with delight that Scheer helped Blanchet take the focus off his rape allegations. Blanchet's mouthbreathing fanboys now overlap with Max's and have the damn nerve to spew venom at Margaret as "some hag who did coke with Hell's Angels and rock stars"! Can you say projection? Then some hack brocialist who writes for Rabble dismissed Freeland and McKenna as potential Trudeau replacements, opting for Mark Carney instead. I have nothing against Carney but again it's all about MEN!
I am so disgusted with MEN engineering this takedown operation and I just want to burn everything down!!!!!!
What do you say about this?
ReplyDeletehttps://leantossup.ca/trudeau-must-resign/...
I just wanted to share something else that relates to why I think this may end up pushing Trudeau out sooner rather than later, but of his own volition: the way this whole thing has become a pitchfork campaign against his mom. I think it may be winding down with Trudeau's testimony being the climax but the damage to his family has already been done. Shameful, dirty gutter politics from the worst elements of humanity.
ReplyDeleteThis is from a prolific NDP troll and pretty much sums up why Charlie said and did what he did, and what the NDP is doing writ large. (Bloc too. Rheal Fortin proved yesterday that Blanchet is not an anomaly.) I'm not even going to quote it in this comment, just share the link as an example. Again, this is the kind of thing you would expect from Cons, but DipperBros are no better. (Just look at his username. That's evidence enough for the misogynistic rot in this party.)

This family has suffered enough. They deserve peace. Let someone else wrangle the scum. Justin and Margaret Trudeau don't deserve this.
Hi JSB
ReplyDeleteI read it and left a comment. Evan's being ridiculously anal-retentive and it's sad to see him fall for the media-contrived BS. There's plenty of mitigating factors for all those "scandals" that were cooked up to smear him and dent his popularity, and sadly, for some people it seems to have worked.
Personally I'm not 100% convinced as to whether the first sentence is true, because the outrage machine has grown so intense, but if his prediction does hold, that's really all I care about happening anyway. I still lean towards the possibility or even likelihood of him departing early, not because of this WE business but because of all the hate directed at his family.
But a part of me still wants to believe in miracles. I do want him to fight the good fight, win one more and then he can decide what he wants to do.
I couldn't post there...do you know why? I tried to post two times today, but it didn't work.

Anyone read about this?

Interesting right?🤔😉😬😃
airshow may give the cons a 2% edge over weak Andy, Tooless will be a 2% drop. The next goverment of Canada will be a liberal majority.
ReplyDeleteHi Cathie....The Cons may get a bounce from a new leader, but I doubt it will be a big one. The fact that the winner may need the support of the two social conservative candidates will dampen the enthusiasm of many, and then there’s the fact that both MacKay and O’Toole are old Harperites and have that baggage to overcome. But yes, a lot will depend on how Trudeau will do at the finance committee star chamber. It’s sad that it should come down to that after all his good work, but thanks to the Con media that’s the country we live in....
ReplyDeleteHi JsB....I don’t have much confidence in leantossup, and I find that editorial ridiculous. Trudeau has done enough during the pandemic to get another term in there is an early election, and considering the quality of the opposition, even a fake scandal won’t change that...
ReplyDeleteHi Rumleyfips..lI agree, the fake scandal and the Con media smear machine have take a toll on Trudeau and his Liberals, so unless things change a fall election would probably return the same kind of minority we have now. Which would be a monumental waste of time and money....
ReplyDeleteHi Steve....now that I’ve seen the latest polls, I don’t think a majority is possible any longer. The smear machine has done its job and although Trudeau can win an early election, he will almost certainly have to settle for a minority again..l
