Peter MacKay Wants To Fight Justin Trudeau. For Real!!
Nine years ago Justin Trudeau offered Peter MacKay a chance to fight him in a charity boxing match.
MacKay turned him down, so Patrick Brazeau took his place. Only to wish he hadn't.
But despite that, MacKay now says he'd welcome a chance to fight Trudeau.
Just not in a boxing ring.
In the course of media interviews, Mr. MacKay has made a point of contrasting his manliness to the Prime Minister’s. For instance, in one he said he liked staying active by playing hockey, in contrast to the PM, who prefers yoga. He took it even further in a sit-down with the National Post’s John Ivison, telling him that he’d reconsider an overture Mr. Trudeau made nine years ago when he was looking for an opponent for a charity boxing match. At the time, Mr. MacKay declined. Mr. Trudeau ultimately fought, and soundly defeated, Senator Patrick Brazeau. Now, Mr. MacKay told the Post, he would consider such an invitation.
“I’d rather fight him UFC rules,” he said. “Or on the ice – no headgear, no gloves.”
Bizarre.
As Gary Mason points out, it's just the latest pathetic Con attempt to feminize Trudeau.
This, of course, has echoes of the ads the Conservatives once ran that mocked the Prime Minister for being a former drama teacher. The message: Do you really want someone this effete running the country? As it turned out, Canadians weren’t nearly as allergic to male former drama teachers as many inside the Conservative Party had thought.
But it only makes "Macho" MacKay sound desperate.
I have no idea how central the macho image Mr. MacKay is trying to create for himself is to his campaign. But I would suggest that if it is deemed important, he is in trouble already. When you’re talking about wanting a cage match with the sitting Prime Minister to prove who the baddest political dude in the country is, you’ve got problems.
But then Dumbo has always been a mouthy Harper loving chicken hawk...
Who gets others to fight for him.
So it's too bad he chickened out when asked to fight Trudeau nine years ago.
Because I think I REALLY would have enjoyed that one...
He's a bully, a frustrated chicken hawk, a "macho" misogynist, and a dangerous Con.
“I’d rather fight him UFC rules,” he said. “Or on the ice – no headgear, no gloves.”
Those Ugly American Cons are becoming more Trump like by the day.
So nobody who loves this country, should ever vote for them...
What a Trumpian chickenshit tough guy and a bigot to boot. This is their "moderate"? Oh, but meaningless symbolic pandering and empty platitudes at the Pride parade are supposed to fix the Cons' issues with the anti-LGBTQ+ prejudice at the core of their being. As their frontrunner and heir or airhead apparent exhibits this performative macho posturing and dogwhistles "hurr durr Justin is gay." More concerning is his evident sponsorship by the gun lobby. I noticed a few Liberal MPs countering his early Post Millennial messaging of "whatever they [the Liberals] do we [the Cons] will undo," so it appears they've caught onto it and would no doubt use it against him in a national campaign. #LetsTalk about how Pugilist Pete is a pea-pistol prick. Ya coulda been a contender!!!
ReplyDeleteCons talk this kind of nonsense, real Canadians see it, MSM reports it as herosim
ReplyDeleteHi Steve...Con gun freaks always look to me like the pig people from Deliverance. But even if the media ignores MacKay's gun obsession, Canadians have already had a good luck at him, and even if he becomes Con leader he won't win the election....
DeleteSupport this idea 100% two men I loath beating the crude into out of each other, I win!
ReplyDeleteHi Gyor....Are you NDPers really that desperate? I realize Jagmeet is a huge disappointment, and that his numbers are now so bad Trudeau would win another majority if an election was held tomorrow. But if leaders have to fight each other in a cage, it's not Canada, it's a fascist jungle...
DeleteI was going to lay off the NDP for a little while Simon, but this article from a Con strategist admits that the NDP are their useful idiots in pincer warfare against the Liberals. They can't win without splitting and/or suppressing the vote.

You may want to have a look at this and perhaps write a post on it, because it's blatantly out in the open now. Bernie is Trump's best friend just like Nader was W Bush's, Layton was Harper's, and Singh is/was Scheer's and MacKay's.
Do not want.
Well, drop the sticks. Hockey fights are dangerous enough for the pros. An muffin who treats them casually doesn't realize what he's asking for.
ReplyDeleteHi John.....MacKay's comments illustrate the two main sides of his character. One, he has strong fascist tendencies, and two, he's as dumb as a spoon. Which when combined make him dangerous....
DeleteAs far as I'm concerned MacKay's comments constitute threats against our prime minister. The man is an idiot right winger and should not be allowed to get away with it. What was MacKay thinking, and will he at least have the decency to apologiize?
ReplyDeleteThe real question is : would potato pete arrive by helicopter ?
ReplyDeleteHi rumleyfips...I think one thing is for sure eh? Dumbo MacKay will not be seen anywhere near a helicopter for the rest of his life. Or until his small brain shrinks further and he can't remember what that "fuss" was all about....
DeleteI don't remember JT ever challenging then PM Harper to a fight but therein lies the difference between the two. JT's got class and Dumbo is idiotically crass. Dumbo the coward had his chance and chickened out and now he challenges JT knowing full well that as PM, JT would not diminish his role by agreeing to this idiot's challenge.
ReplyDeleteMaCoward's been out of the spotlight for some time now but in the short time he's been back in it he's shown he hasn't changed a bit. As big an asshole as Harper ever was and too lazy to learn to speak french effectively. A serious contender wanting to be PM who seriously wants to make life better for Canadians would take the time to learn to competently communicate in both official languages. What we have here is an opportunistic has-been who's only in it for himself and who entered this race because his only real competition has bowed out. If he were smart he'd call in the choppers to return him to his potato farm to resume his bucolic way of life. Maybe borrow a neighbors dog, shed some crocodile tears and wonder how it all went so horribly wrong.

I just had a thought. About a silver-spoon dunce attempting to play macho to excite the base, while straddling the fence as a palatable "moderate" and satisfying no one. In other words:
DeletePeter MacKay is the Jeb Bush of Donald Trumps.
Please clap.
Hi JD....I knew Brazeau wasn't the first choice, but I didn't know that MacKay had been asked but declined. But I'm not surprised that he would react badly when the story emerged. He's just a dumb jock who wants to feminize Trudeau, so being revealed to have chickened out of a fight with the demon Justin is mighty inconvenient....
DeleteIn other stupid macho fight challenge news, Meghan Markle's out-of-control dad has challenged Prince Harry to a DUEL!
