Andrew Scheer and the Con Bigot Who Wouldn't Quit

I've written about Heather Leung before, the Con candidate in B.C.'s Burnaby-North Seymour riding.

The religious fanatic and vile homophobe who believes among other things that gay people recruit children.

The one whose campaign tried to turn Rick Mercer into a Conservative.

Well, on Wednesday the Cons fired her.

Or at least that's what Andrew Scheer claimed he had done.

But as you can see he really doesn't want to talk about that.

And no wonder, because Leung is still campaigning, with the same Con billboards and posters, as if nothing had happened.

Except that this picture of Leung and Scheer suddenly disappeared...

And so did her ridings's ugly Facebook page.

The one with the picture of Justin Trudeau standing at the edge of a cliff, with comments from Con supporters demanding that he jump or be pushed.

Because that's who those religious fanatics are. The ones who will stop at nothing to install God's Kingdom On Earth and In Canada.

And the reason Andrew Scheer is allowing Leung to get away with it, is because he is one of them, and he shares her virulent homophobia.

Leung calls LGBT Canadians "perverts." He once worked for a man who wanted to jail them. And has refused to apologize for comparing them to dogs.

And that's where we are, just sixteen days away from an election.

The religious right is on the move.

This dangerous religious fanatic is getting ready to form a government this country will never forget...

And if we don't defeat him and his far right Cons.

We will regret it forever...

The irony here is that a child raised by a gay or lesbian couple will be taught to love someone because of who and what they are whereas a child raised by religious zealots will be taught to vilify someone for who they are if it doesn't conform with their sanctimonious, prehistoric ideologies. Now that is what I call perverse.

    1. Hi JD...It is perverse and cruel especially since gay parents get very high marks from child adoption agencies, and work hard to give their children the best they can afford. Every child raised in a same sex household that I have ever met has been a very happy little person. So the hideous bigotry aimed at them and their parents is cruel and bestial...

  2. .. 'candidates' such as Ms Leung.. are exactly why our political system should not allow political parties to dictate who we are permitted to vote for .. A community and a riding should promote the choose who represents their dreams, needs and wishes.. and, be able to fire them if they don't.

Our representatives are Public Servants, nothing more.. though being exemplars is an added bonus. But being a religious zealot is the opposite of what the citizenry needs. As one wag put it, a parking meter endorsed by Stephen Harper would win in Rob Anders old riding.. and in reality, that's about what that riding got, albeit a truly ignorant parking meter. As a Canadian I would not accept someone like Ms Leung operating in the Conservative caucus, even if she did not represent my riding. Somehow Andrew Scheer found her palatable.. how interesting

    1. Hi salamander....What I find so disgusting about those religious bigots is how cruel they are, and how sure they are that they are superior to those whose lives they would try to ruin with their bigotry. Thank goodness the Cons are the only ones who attract those bestial creatures, like flies to roadkill. And by so doing reveal their inner evil...

Liberals 37, Conservatives 33, NDP 15, Greens 8, BQ 5, PPC 2: Nanos nightly tracking (Oct. 6 release)

Trudeau opens up 8-point advantage over Scheer in preferred PM.

Hopefully the debates keep this momentum going and demolish Yankee Doody Andy once and for all.

And that 33 for the Cons looks better than it actually is given they over-poll in SK/AB

    2. Couple more hopeful reads for your Sunday pre-debate motivation. (None of which come from the Probe & Wail.)

      1) Don Martin "Grits" his teeth to deliver a warning to Scheer.

      https://election.ctvnews.ca/don-martin-suddenly-scheer-is-on-trial-by-fire-1.4624576

Pay attention to those three names. One of whom might lose to an Olympic athlete; the other two are waiting in the wings. That's a sign the knives might be coming out.

      2) Éric Grenier offers some historical context as to where we might be going with an election this close. Irony: Politically and ideologically, Andrew Scheer is no Joe Clark, but numerically, could he be Pierre Trudeau? (Minus the 1980 comeback.)

      3) Grenier forgot to mention the close election I've been keeping at the back of my mind, and which appears to be hinted at in a cryptic tweet from the VP of Mainstreet Research. Does he know something we don't?

So, I'm reminded of one key phrase from Desiderata. "Whether it is clear to you or not, the universe is unfolding as it should.

Pierre Trudeau said this to a gathering of his MPs when the initial results came in for the Liberals' reelection bid. I'm not the only one (Frank Graves is another, based on his survey results) thinking we could still get a Liberal minority government, by whatever margin it might be. Because it's 1972.

    4. Hi Jackie...It looks very much like a minority government is shaping up. And I have to say I could live with that. I would have preferred a majority government, but I've always hoped that the left would unite, and a minority could make it easier to eventually do that, and leave the Cons out forever...

  4. Questions we have questions, have Weak Andy wife and kids given up their American citzenship? Has Weak Andy ever contributed to an American political party? To register for the draft is a matter of life and death, thats serious folks.

    1. I doubt that his wife has dual citizenship; Andy has it because his dad was born in the US. I suppose he could give it to his kids, but that would look REALLY bad.

    2. Serves the RepubliCons and their incel keyboard warriors right for wailing for the past 3 years that Justin has Cuban citizenship through his "real dad." Their conspiracy theories aren't even original, which just proves that their nationality is "Xerox-American." I would have expected recent events to prompt jokes about his Kenyan citizenship (or Nambian), or rumors about controversial relationships at the YMCA while he was a drama-teaching community organizer, but they're not even that creative. Racist, yes. Hypocritical, absolutely. Disloyal? 100%. Clever? Not in the least.

  5. Well said JD'

Salamander: I suspect she was chosen by the reformatories in her riding.

Jackie. The polls are now where we started a few weeks ago. 37 is getting close to majority territory.

  6. The date for replacing candidates is past. The ballot will contain this woman's name regardless of what Mr. Scheer says now. His "firing" of her is all for show.

Off topic I saw your tweet about David Akin encouraging young people to consider more options than just the Liberals and Conservatives. That is typical of this goof ball but I take heart that many Conservative supporters in the media are beginning to see that their guy is quickly running out of runway and that things are not going his way.

There is still two weeks left so there is still some room for a surprise or two but this election never felt like a change election from the beginning and it is looking even less so at this stage of the campaign.

    1. Hi Ottlib....I hope you're right about many Cons starting to realize that Scheer is running out of runway. But so far at least I see no evidence of that, since despite Scheer's many flaws finally being revealed, his numbers aren't moving. Like Trumplings they are too fanatical to listen to reason. Maybe the debate will shake things up but I'm afraid this is going to end badly and lead to even more polarization....

The carbon tax ads the Cons a running in Ontario are blatant lies as 90% or the revenue is refunded to the individual with the remaining 10% used to sponsor energy efficiency programs. Political parties that welch on promises is one thing but how is it that our election system allows Con political advertisements that are outright lies? Even the modern day equivalent of the carnival crowd have a legal cap on the size of their lies.

    1. Hi RT....Good question. It makes no sense that we have an ad council with the power to pull ordinary ads off the air for lying, but can't touch political ads. As a result the Scheer Cons have been able to drown us in their excrement and get away with it because our shabby media either can't or won't correct the record...

  8. In the same vein as the threatening Trudeau montage, a mannequin with Greta's face and braids was found hanging from a bridge in Rome. There are SERIOUS fascists in Rome, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the original ones.

  9. Hi lagatta....It's absolutely disgusting that somebody could threaten a 16-year-old girl in such a manner. But sadly that's not only happening in Italy its happening right here in North America wher Greta is routinely insulted and threatened. Fascists are fascists and as before we must either defeat them or lose everything...

  10. Bernier is not technically a fascist, but he is a (somewhat different variety of)far-right bully who has said vicious things about Greta. Climate crisis denial, and its racist subset blaming immigration and people of colour who "breed" too much, has become a significant theme of far-right movements. And misogyny is always part of the toxic mix.
