Is The Con Media Turning Against Andrew Scheer?

Yesterday, I wrote about a Globe article where Andrew Scheer claimed that him and his Cons were more tolerant than the Liberals.

And I wondered whether Scheer was losing his mind, and why the Globe would print such nonsense.

So I'm happy to see the Globe is now trying to make up for that.

And for Scheer and his Rebel acolyte Hamish Marshall it couldn't be more devastating.

For this is brutal.

Federal Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer gave a recent interview to The Globe and Mail in which he tried to sell the Tories as Canada's party of tolerance and acceptance. He didn't nail it.

His position on abortion, which he claimed showed that his Cons are more open to diverse views than the Liberals, is the ugly offspring of political expediency.

Mr. Scheer is personally opposed to abortion, as are many Conservative voters. And yet he insists, almost to a fault, that a Tory government led by him would silence any Conservative MPs who tried to raise the issue.

Perhaps he believes that to say otherwise would cost him votes in a country where abortion rights are supported by the majority, and by the Supreme Court.

If so, where Mr. Trudeau's position on abortion is credibly based on personal conviction, Mr. Scheer's is the ugly offspring of political expediency.

And as for Scheer's absurd claim that he doesn't discriminate against LGBT Canadians, that makes no sense either.

Mr. Scheer was equally clumsy on the issue of LGBTQ rights, insisting he is a supporter. But as an MP, he voted against gay marriage in 2005, and as party leader he refuses to take part in Pride parades. "Not everyone marches," he says. And fair enough.

But while he claims the LGBTQ community should not take his absence from Pride parades as de facto proof that he isn't a supporter, he's happy to let that same absence send a signal to his political base about his beliefs.

It is as I said yesterday, nothing less than obscene.

The mark of a sinister religious fanatic, who like so many other vicious bigots would  encourage his supporters to use their Bibles as weapons.

And the Globe editorial board is right to deliver this verdict:

Mr. Scheer has apparently made it a priority to rebrand his party as a Canada's brightest beacon of tolerance. Based on what we've seen, he may not be the person for the job.

But then who can blame them? They want the Cons to win the next election, they know a loser when they see one.

And like others can see that Justin Trudeau is heading for another crushing majority.

For standing up for our precious Canadian values.

For there are no lower creatures than anti-gay bigots, and those who enable them, who would attack people for who they love.

But does this mean the Con media is turning on Scheer?

I doubt it.

For if they were serious they would explain to their readers that Schmeagol can't change even if he wanted to, which he doesn't, because he owes his leadership victory to social conservatives like Brad Trost...

Who like Scheer also take their orders from above, and now want their pound of flesh.

But as someone who has been a lonely voice warning that Scheer is not what he seems, and is a deadly threat to this country and its values.

I take this as a small victory.

And it only encourages me to continue my struggle against that ghastly bigot, until the day he resigns...

An abomination, eh? Oooh, sounds like fun. Who is this Leviticus dude anyway?

    2. You're quoting the OT? Why? For Christians it's just preface to the NT. Christianity is summed up in Jesus' 2 Great Commandments. Everything else is commentary.

    3. HI anon 11:02...please spare us from "religious" quotations. I haven't the slightest interest in reading what some hairy desert dwellers with a dozen wives and an equal number of concubine goats have to say about anything. Luckily I know some real Christians who believe that Jesus is love, so I don't have to judge Christianity based on the behaviour of bigots like you. So please take a hike and don't bother to come back...

I successfully trolled and bullied a young female progressive blogger right off the internet yesterday. Feels good man.

@anon 11:47 -- Bonjour, Ezra! Senpai Justin notices you, but isn't going to give you a spanking no matter how naughty of a boy you are. Do you have a pee-pee in your Pepé pajamas every time wee Andy launches another Inquisition? Go back to your playpen or should I say pigpen and give Hammy a hug. The grownups are talking here, and you sound like you need to sit in timeout...

Anon 3:49, Therein lies the problem that Anon 11:47 has very little or nothing to wank at all. He blames women for his problems though it's not his mother's fault the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck and deprived him of much needed oxygen. Seek help Anon 11:47, it must be lonely being a complete asshole.

    4. Hi anon 11:47 am...well aren't you a big man or a big coward? You must be one of Scheer's new trolls, because only a Con could be that depraved. But that is of course why progressives are so much better than Cons, and why we must and will destroy you...

    5. Hi Jackie...can you believe the lowlife trolls who stopped by here today. And I deleted four others who were equally disgusting. I normally delete them all, but every now and then I let a couple through to remind people who we're up against. And boy are Cons disgusting...

Anon 11:02, anon 11:47, anon 11:56, considering the weakness of your comments, your obvious delight in banality of your ideas, and the amount of time spent between each one of them just to produce dross, as a troll you are completely inadequate, as a layer of skin, somewhat lacking. Keep up the good work though, if this an indication of the intelligence level of the ConForm base, then we have nothing to fear, but 1950 returning.

    3. Hi Filcher...well said. If these Cons are an indication of the kind of mentality we are up against, we are truly blessed. I must admit that they do bring out the worst in me, and take me back to my high school days when I took far too much pleasure beating bullies up. Now I believe that defeating them and building a kinder gentler world is better than pounding those bullies. But old habits die hard...😡

  4. There is a big problem with quoting Leviticus. The problem is that Christians are no longer under the Law. We do not live our Christian life by following the Old Testament Law. The Apostle Paul makes this abundantly clear. It is not something fabricated to win an argument, or made up in the twentieth century, or manufactured to get around something somebody doesn’t like. It is clearly stated in the Greek scriptures. The Apostle Paul wrote it in Galatians:

All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” (Galatians 3:10)

If we rely on following the Law, the first five books of the Bible) we are under a curse. The passage above, Galatians 3:10, contains a quote from the Law itself, Deuteronomy 27:26. According to Paul’s statement below, things have changed.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse for us. (Galatians 3:13)

It was Jesus’ death on the cross that rescued us from the curse of the Law. If we insist on following the Law and imposing the Law on others, we negate the cross of Christ, and repudiate Christ’s death on the cross.

    1. Hi Joe...thanks for that, I found it very interesting, and a great way to repond to the haters. Although I'm an atheist, I know some very good Christians, including my Mum. But there are an awful lot of fake ones, including all those who support Trump. Long after Trump is just a bad memory they will be still wondering how they went so wrong...

    2. Or Simon, you could just go to Matthew 22:36-40New International Version (NIV)
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Far as I can see there are no exceptions to the law of love one another- despite what alternative Christians believe.

    3. Thanks Simon. I try not to get into online bickering with idiots but sometimes it's too damn tempting. I, too, am an atheist and love to poke holes in the zealots arguments. A personal hero of mine is Matt Dillahunty of the Atheist Experience. Their website is full of great rebuttals and their videos are all over YouTube. Well worth a look and a laugh. Cheers!

    1. Hi Yvonne...thanks a lot for alerting me to Dale Smith's column. I'm a big fan of his, and consider him to be the finest parliamentary reporter in Ottawa. I'm also not surprised that the big names in the Con media completely ignored Scheer's outrageous claim. But as I said in my post, he only proved that he is a religious fanatic living in a parallel universe, and I for one intend to use that against him all the way to the next election..

The ghastly bigot Katie Hopkins has joined The Rebel. She was supposedly making half a million a year at her last job (Daily Mail). Where is Ezra getting all this money from?

    1. Hi anon...I admit I had never heard of Katie Hopkins, but now that you tipped me off, and I did a little research I see what you mean. Another lowlife bigot to join Ezra and hate mongering Rebel. I believe I once read that Levant gets money from some shadowy right wing groups. But I don't think he'll have to pay Hopkins much. Apparently one of the reasons the Daily Mail didn't renew her contract is that they had to pay a lot of money to pay off somebody she accused somebody of being a terrorist sympathizer, but wasn't. So she's definitely in the right place, and hopefully between her and Levant they'll bankrupt The Rebel...

A 11:02 a.m. What Lev. says, is interpreted as meaning men are not to "lie" with men. What is interesting is the translation in the King James version, uses the word "mankind", not man so one could suggest the translation from latin to English is in error and we've always gone along with it because it suited society's morals at the time. This line in the Bible could simply mean men were not to "lie" with the whole world, because mankind can mean the whole human race. Could have been an instruction to not "screw around".

Levit. is in the old Testament which were instructions to the Jews on how to live their lives. that was a very long time ago. Instructions in faith had as much to do with survival of the species as it did with religion.

Christianity has to do with Jesus and the New Testament. So if these Cons consider themselves to be "Christians" you would think they would look more at the teachings of Christ than the teachings of a prophet some many centuries ago with multiple translations in between.

Many of the people who object to how others live their lives are not what I would consider Christians. They are simply people who want their mean spiritedness to have a nice sound to it. Scheer can not be trusted. We saw it with Harper. he got elected and the first thing he did was defund women's groups. those groups advocated on behalf of women and the rights they were fighting for. Scheer will do the same. A vote for the Conservatives led by Scheer, is simply a vote for the old Harper/Reform gang and they don't like any one who isn't like them or believes like them.

Canada is a progressive/inclusive country. Politicans like Scheer and his ilk are so 1800s.
