Donald Trump and the Republican Civil War

Once they were America's oddest political couple, the flaming dotard Donald Trump and the grubby boozer Steve Bannon.

Five months ago, after he fired Bannon, Trump couldn't say enough nice things about his alt-right buddy.

Now he's saying that the day Bannon was fired, he didn't just lose his job, he lost his mind.

As someone at the New York Daily News said, life comes at you fast.

And now it's a cuck fight.

Now it's a Republican Civil War between them and their followers.

President Trump excommunicated his onetime chief strategist, Stephen K. Bannon, from his circle on Wednesday, ending for now a partnership of convenience that transformed American politics while raising questions about the future of the nationalist-populist movement they cultivated together.

With Trump desperately trying to muzzle Bannon.

Late Wednesday, lawyers for Trump sent a cease-and-desist letter to Bannon, arguing he violated the employment agreement he signed with the Trump Organization in numerous ways and also likely defamed the president. They ordered that he stop communicating either confidential and or disparaging information, and preserve all records in preparation for “imminent” legal action.

While over at Breitbart, where Bannon rules the roost, the deplorables are already fighting themselves.

Even as Bannon himself seems to be on his knees already.

In his first comments after being blasted by President Donald Trump earlier in the day, Steve Bannon called Trump "a great man" while hosting a radio show Wednesday night.

"The President of the United States is a great man," he said. "You know, I support him day in and day out."

While no doubt waiting to see which way the wind blows...

But in a sense it doesn't really matter who wins this power struggle. When Trump's base is only about thirty percent, any infighting could be fatal.

What Michael Wolff's book reveals, once again, is that Trump is unfit to be President.

As Jennifer Rubin writes, that should be no surprise.

For a couple of years, it has been apparent to anyone who cared to look hard that Trump was never mentally, emotionally or temperamentally fit to be president. Those who argued that character didn’t matter were both wrong and missing the point. Sanity matters. The book — at least from the excerpts — confirms what dogged opponents of his presidency have always said: He’s an unhinged man-child utterly lacking in the skill needed to be president.

The only argument should be over how and when he should be removed from office.

And in that regard this is good news.

More than a dozen lawmakers last month met with a Yale University psychiatry professor for two days to discuss President Trump’s fitness for office, Politico reported Wednesday. Dr. Bandy X. Lee reportedly met with the group of lawmakers on Dec. 5 and Dec. 6 and warned them the president is “going to unravel.”

Donald Trump is unravelling. He doesn't know what he's doing.

And he must be removed from office.

Before he kills us all...

Fine! Bring on Mike Pence instead. I'm sure he'll be supportive of your progressive values. *giggles*

    1. At least Pence is an experienced politician and is of sound mind despite his religious convictions. The U.S. needs a statesman in the role, not an immature, emotionally stunted narcissist with no clue what he is doing.

    2. Hi anonymous 9:32 am...I don't know why you are giggling. Is it a nervous condition? If so I don't blame you, it must be horrible to be a Trumpkin and having to watchi your depraved leader slowly going senile. But as for Pence, I wouldn't expect him to be progressive, he is after all a grotesque religious fanatic. But at least we wouldn't have to worry about him starting a nuclear war for no reason. And having a religious fanatic as a President would be a real gift to the Democrats, and ensure that the Republicans are totally destroyed in the next election...

  2. Wouldn't the Nazoid Bannon see Rommel as a traitor?

    1. Hi lagatta...Rommel was whitewashed by his opposition to Hitler in the final phase of the Third Reich. But as far as I'm concerned he was just another Nazi and so is Bannon...

Why did Justin Trudeau meet up with Joshua Boyle in the middle of his crime spree a couple weeks ago? Why did he meet with him in 2006? Boyle used to be married to Omar Khard's sister. What the hell is going on?

    1. Hi anon...I saw Trump on TV today, and boy did he look a mess. The bags under his eyes were bigger than Ivanka's Gucci purses. I very much doubt that he will be around for much longer. Sooner rather than later he will have to be removed from office....

It looks like it's going to be a messy divorce Simon. Bannon vs Trump or the jilted vs the gilded. It's Godzila vs Rodan with 'zila spewing fire and fury and Rodan helping write "Fire and Fury".
Bannon did not go away happy(which is now evident) and imo his statement last night that Trump's a great guy is sarcastic payback for when Trump did the same when he fired him last summer. "You're fired Steve but you're a great guy." I'd prefer he just say you're fired then stfu.
By all accounts we already knew it was a joke but it's now indisputable that the Trump white house is a complete, dysfunctional mess with the most incompetent president in history at its helm.
It must be incredibly galling for Trump to know that most of his top team think he's an idiot. That's okay Donald, do does most of the world.

    1. Hi JD....an orange Godzilla? Oh boy, that should be fun. I hadn't thought about Bannon being sarcastic, but you could be right. I feel like sending Bannon a crate of booze to encourage him to tell us more about Trump. But of course the fact that the White House is a dysfunctional Mad House should terrify everyone. The section in the book where Wolff describes how shaken Trump was to have won, is simply beyond belief. When this nightmare is over, it'll make a great movie script, or remake of Animal House. But of course first we have to survive...

Write your local MP and ask what the government could do to lower the price of books coming into Canada.

    $20.98 US (hardcover)
Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1250158060/

    $35.78 CDN (hardcover)
Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House
    https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/1250158060/

1 US Dollar equals 1.25 Canadian Dollar, so that book in Canada should not be selling for more than $26.23 (before tax, of course!)

PS After the physical, I hope there are 3 or 4 psychiatrists ready to ask Trump some questions on the nature of reality. 8-)

when all the "shit hit the fan" on CNN I couldn't stop laughing. O.K. it was like a sitcom. Turns out it was about the President of the U.S.A. Not a good thing.

Neither Bannon or Trump are fit to run a country. Trump's behavior is much like a person who is over whelmed and about to loose it. It perhaps would be better if Pence were president. At least we might not have to worry so much about an international war starting. Yes, I know that means Paul Ryan gets to be V.P. but with the mid terms coming, he could well be gone. The dems have a great candidate running against him.

In the short term Trump may win the skirmish but the distance, will be won by Bannon. He will move on to some one else to achieve his "goals". Bannon has presented himself to the world as the champion of the working/middle class. Once he goes to war on Trump and outlines how little to nothing Trump has done for the working rural white poor, they will abandon Trump and his supporters in a heart beat.

In places like Virginia there is no health care for people without insurance. its provided by charities. People die from undiagnosed diseases. Young men die from a lack of insulin, after first going blind. No new jobs came to the white rural areas. Bannon has enough material to bury Trump and the financial elite who have benefited from Trump's tax bill will abandon him in a heart beat once the realize all that money they saved won't help them once they are dead due to a nuclear war.
