Andrew Scheer and the Angry Old Men in the Con Media
It's been almost two weeks since Andrew Scheer came rushing out to denounce Justin Trudeau for imposing un-Godly restrictions on the government's summer job program.
But since then Scheer has been strangely silent about the issue, and has dropped it like a hot or hellish potato.
Which is weird, considering he's a religious fanatic who would love the government to pay kids to put up posters like these all over the place.
And he must be burning with rage to have God's work thwarted by his satanic enemy Justin Trudeau.
But then of course there are two reasons Scheer is so silent:
One, he doesn't want to reveal how much of a religious fanatic he really is, because that would scare Canadians.
And two, he knows he can count on the angry old men in the Con media to do his job for him.
Old Cons like Charles Adler.
Who penned this gaseous rant.
The prime minister rode into power on a promise that he would listen to Canadians instead of bullying Canadians, which is what he effectively pinned to Stephen Harper. But these days Trudeau’s never ending scrap with ordinary Canadians makes Stephen Harper look like a nice guy.
Who would have thunk that Justin Trudeau could out bully the guy who wanted to install the Barbaric Practices snitch line?
Where he actually accuses Trudeau of being more of a bully than Stephen Harper.
Can you believe it?
And to make matters worse, fires off a barrage of tweets.
Which like most old Trudeau haters, only makes him look crazy, or crazier.
But then he's not alone. The summer jobs issue has polarized the country, with most women and younger men on one side, and many older men on the other.
Even though as Michael Coren points out, the outrage is manufactured.
I had no idea there were so many right-leaning columnists and activists in Canada who cared so passionately about human rights, and the freedom of Christians. That must be the case, because it has been impossible to pick up a newspaper or look at social media in the last few days without seeing outrage and anger at the government’s reforms to the summer jobs program.
It’s all largely a sham of course, just a convenient vehicle to drive at Justin Trudeau and the Liberals.
The premise is false.
The premise is that Ottawa’s reform of the summer jobs program discriminates against Christians. In fact, it’s a reaction to the revelation that sizable amounts of public money were being given to militant anti-abortion groups across Canada, some of which describe women’s choice as murder, compare abortion to the Holocaust, and put leaflets with bloody, graphic pictures on them through people’s doors.
And not only that.
What those old Con media hacks who are complaining so loudly don't mention, is that those objecting to the idea of women asserting the right to control their own bodies.
Are also biased against gay Canadians...
Opponents of the government have singled out the abortion issue, but many, if not most, of these same groups would not hire someone who was in a same-sex relationship.
In other words, young LGBTQ2 people — those most at risk of persecution, suicide attempts, and depression — will be told by those complaining of the unfairness of the new policy, that they are not acceptable as employees, and this policy often extends to straight people living together outside of marriage.
And this is another big reason why they are attacking Justin Trudeau so viciously...
Because of his unconditional support for the rights of LGBT Canadians.
The controversy is being fuelled by those who would discriminate against others, while claiming they are the ones being discriminated against.
And who, as I pointed out on Twitter, would turn Canada into a theocracy.
And the good news?
By alienating women, millennials, gays, and people who live in Quebec, the most secular province in Canada, Andrew Scheer is only sealing his own fate.
Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer’s year may be off to a rough start. Two national polls published back to back this week suggest the official opposition’s fall offensive in the House of Commons has failed to make a lasting dent in the Liberal armour.
A Mainstreet Research poll based on a sample of 3,890 respondents showed Justin Trudeau’s support relatively unchanged from his 2015 victory score. A Campaign Research poll involving 1,887 participants reported a similar pro-Liberal trend.
The polls show Trudeau still heading for another majority, with the Cons stuck in neutral.
At this juncture, the Conservatives are favourites only among the over-65 age cohort. At the other end of the spectrum, four in 10 voters 18 to 34 years old support the Liberals. The Conservatives attract only one in four. In style as in substance, the party is acting as if that demographical shift were of no consequence to its fortunes.
And the Liberals enjoying the support of most women by a large margin.
Which of course explains why Andrew Scheer is so silent, in the hope of not making a bad thing worse...
And makes the Con media look even more grubby and disgusting.
Or as I like to say, the Cons have had their day, the times they are changing.
And the future belongs to us....
Iveson was blathering on about Trudeau's failure to complete the TTP deal the morning the completion of the TTP was announced. The old, tired, white guys comprising the con media are out of touch and out of ideas.
ReplyDeleteHi rumleyfips...in a constellation of stooges John Iveson shines brighter than most. I have no idea why he degrades himself in such a manner, but I'm pretty sure that one day like all the others he will bitterly regret what he has done...
DeleteScheer is a dirty con man all right. I'm sure you're going to write about the total collapse of Patrick Brown in Ontario soon, Simon. Even as all of Brown's team were bailing like rats on the Titanic, and #OpenSecret was trending on Twitter (indicating that this behavior was known of Brown for a long time), Scheer only made a wishy-washy statement on Twitter saying something to the effect of "let's not rush to judgment" and would not say that Brown needed to resign. Which of course, he did, in a "press conference" that saw him rushing flush-faced out the door. Wouldn't you know, Super Bowl commercials and Trump appointees' careers last longer than Patrick Brown...
ReplyDeleteBrown's predatory behavior and Scheer's mealy-mouthed response to the scandal are no doubt going to be brought up in the election cycle, as #MeToo only continues to pick up momentum. Women aren't going anywhere, and as Trudeau said just a day before at Davos, "respect women or expect failure." The Liberals have an avowed feminist at the helm, while the Cons have nothing but creeps. Gee, seems like a foregone conclusion who deserves to win.
Yes Jackie they did bail rather quickly even as Brown was pleading innocence. The only innocence that applies here is the one Brown has stolen from the girls he preyed upon.
DeleteAs a male, I am thoroughly disgusted by these men who use their positions of trust/power to abuse females. I have had male and female bosses in my careers and I'll tell you I'd take the female boss any day of the week. They are attentive, compassionate and listened to reason.
For the most part, the males were seemingly altruistic at first but through time I learned that if given a chance, they would take advantage of a female's vulnerabilities to sate their sick, twisted desires, just as Patrick Brown did.
JD
All of the female bosses I had thought they were all that and a bag of chips. Prefer working for a man. Or lately, myself.
DeleteHi Jackie...I don't know if I will write about Patrick Brown, I'm so disgusted by the behaviour of so many men I don't know what more I could say. If I do it will be to celebrate the sight of so many women breaking their silence and saying enough is enough. It's now clear that the bestial Trump has triggered a women's uprising that if it is supported by decent men has the potential to change the world. For that we must be grateful. But as I tried to say in this post, we are up against an old male guard, and with the power of the corporate media behind them, it will be quite a struggle...
DeleteHi JD....I feel like you, and am completely disgusted by the deplorable behaviour of so many men who are making us all look like animals. We need to support women and demand that they not only be respected, but that they be given the political power they deserve, so that they can restore a measure of sanity to this crazy world....
DeleteHi anon @5:02 PM..."All that and a bag of chips?" What on earth does that mean? Oh never mind, don't tell me. i don't judge people on their gender, just on how they behave. And I like to think that chips are good...
DeleteI wondered why Scheer had suddenly gone silent, and why even the notorious CPCHQ website has scrubbed any mention of the story. Something is not right here, and the Con media have some explaining to do.
ReplyDeleteHi anon@3:50 pm...I checked out the CPC site as well as Scheer's site, and you're right they have been scrubbed. It only reinforces what I tried to say in my post. But don't count on the Con media explaining anything, It may not be a coordinated conspiracy, but it is a conspiracy, and it's aimed at the installation of a right-wing government similar to the one that has left Britain in ruins. All we can do is write our truth on a wall and hope that others see it and spread it...
DeleteJustin Trudeau represents the new Canada, the Con media boy's club represents the old. That's why they hate Justin so much. As you said Simon, the times they are a changing,
ReplyDeleteThe new Canada? Haha, he only has the job because of daddy’s last name. Do you really think that if his name was Justin Smith he would be leader of the Liberal Party, let alone PM.
DeleteJustin’s the only thing keeping the liberals in office. Get rid of him and.....
Hi anon @4:06pm...If I could write this post again, I'd probably just repeat your comment and leave it at that. The old is trying to kill the new. That is why they hate Justin Trudeau so much. But even if they do succeed in destroying him, change will eventually destroy them...
DeleteSimon i agree with you about the Ahole Cons and the fucked up Sheer and his followers %100. Where I disagree with you is about our PM.It is nice to have a feel good Leader and I like that he understands Minorities and how important they are to Canada I believe in the same values that he proves to Canadians every day.I am very Concerned with the Neoliberal attitude in regards to corporations who are continuing to undermine My Canadian Values.
ReplyDeleteI live in B.C. and he is undermining a majority of B.C.ers with his approval of Site C permits and the KM Trans Mount Pipelines and Fish Farms and Mining the Environment First Nations and and the rest of the populous is being Gang Banged at every hole that that suits their purpose with our PM hand in hand with them.
The next big Public Con is the Infrastructure Bank he is promoting. Some Corporate Goons will be in control and we will be taken once again, on this PM's Watch. The feel good PM takes advantage of of the majority with his deflections, while the CEO's openly steal from the Public Purse with our PM's approval.
Please blog some of the fuck ups this PM pulls off, I would feel less pissed off when you over blow our PM when you could be a bit critical and still be the huge fan that you are of our PM
Anon - I agree 100%. I am from BC also. There is something wrong with our PM. He knows how to make gays happy, dope smokers happy, women happy, etc. which are important to me and keep Simon happy. Come to BC, which is not Western Canada, it is the West "Coast". Simon, I was so happy when Harper bit the big one and my expectations of Trudeau were so high, but Trudeau has said fuck you and everyone that looks like you to British Columbia. Anon above knows, I know and many BC'ers know. What do you know about Site-C, Kinder Morgan, Fish Farms? Trudeau will lose so many seats in BC in the next election because he knows that win Ont/Que it's game over. Simon, I hit your site every day. If you were from BC and had all your passion for this province that we do you would be kicking Mr. T's ass.
DeleteHi anon @4:50 pm...I hear what you're saying, and I have never said that Justin Trudeau is perfect. But I happen to believe that the perfect is sometimes the enemy of the good, and I am not one of those precious snowflakes who spend all their time attacking other progressives, even if the ultimate result is to elect a Con government. You are the ones that treat Trudeau like a god by making him responsible for everything bad that happens in this country. The site C dam was not approved by Trudeau it was approved by an NDP government that could have stopped it if it wanted but didn't. And the reason it didn't was because many in BC wanted it built. The same thing goes for climate change. How much can any Prime Minister do, in a country where so many Canadians love their cars and monster trucks? I see progressives as a coalition not as a small band of snotty snowflakes who think they own the truth. That's what I don't attack the Liberals or the NDP, and save my fire for the Cons. I have no intention of changing, so if you don't like it go somewhere else. Or better still, when you start the Revolution call me and I'll join you...
DeleteHI Rob....you agree with anon@4:50 pm and you repeat his same objections to Justin Trudeau, so please accept the same answer I gave him. All I will add is that according to the latest polls Trudeau is the most popular politician in BC. So who exactly do you represent, and who exactly do you think should lead us to the Promised Land?
DeleteDon't you just love these bible thumping hypocrites who say they're being discriminated against when they themselves have been the discriminators for years?
ReplyDeleteKudos to JT for using his teaching skills to teach them that they cant have their cake and eat it to. Canadian law supercedes their so called "values" and until they start treating all Canadians equally, I wouldn't give them a red cent.
As for these old irrelevant "journalists" like Adler, they are in an uproar mainly because it's JT and they just love to attack JT, be it this, or heavens, his socks, or oh the humanity, his selfies. They are truly pathetic as they cater to their base of miserable old pricks.
JD
Hi JD... No group has discriminated against more people or caused more misery than have the Bible thumping hypocrites who would put their twisted values before the ones in the Charter of Rights. They should confine themselves to preaching their ju ju in their own temples, keep their dirty noses out of secular society, and should finance their own activities with their own dollars, unless they choose to pay taxes as they should have been forced to do long ago. And as for the addled Adler he should retire before he has to be carried away in a straitjacket...
DeletePostmedia is a zombie corporation originally fueled by the one percent crowd with easy access to cheap money. Once they have sucked their capital out the worthless zombie the remains will be left to the banks, pension funds and street investors who bought into the miracle. To add insult to injury and thanks to Harper the Con friendly elitists decided to use it to undermine the Canadian psyche at the same time. A win-win combo if you are a Con.
ReplyDeleteAlthough somewhat outdated the following Star article provides a good overview of how the Harper Cons helped bring this blight on the Canadian media landscape into existence https://www.thestar.com/business/2016/01/30/the-problem-with-postmedia-olive.html
RT
Hi RT...I pray every day for the death of Postmedia, which is nothing but a Con propaganda service. And yes, that is a good article which helps explain how that pestilential media organization behaves. But I have some good news. Yesterday the ghastly Con Jen Gerson announced that Postmedia had let her go. One Con down, so many more to go...

ReplyDeleteBlogger was down for a while today, and in the process of trying to solve the problem that I thought was mine, I managed to delete several comments. I'm sorry about that, if you want to resend I'll publish them....
