Donald Trump Prepares To Declare War On the Media
Donald Trump is relaxing at his favourite golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey. The place where Ivanka was married, the place where he wants to be buried.
Still claiming he's not president Lazy Boy.
Still insisting it's NOT a vacation.
And for the first time in a long time, showing Jeff Sessions, his beleaguered Attorney General, a whole lot of love.
For having launched a holy war on the "leakers" inside his government.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced on Friday that the Justice Department is pursuing about three times as many leak investigations as were open at the end of the Obama era, a significant devotion of resources to hunt down disclosures that have plagued the Trump administration.
And for threatening to go after the media.
Mr. Sessions also said he had opened a review of Justice Department rules governing when investigators may issue subpoenas related to the news media and leak investigations. “We respect the important role that the press plays and will give them respect, but it is not unlimited,” he said. “They cannot place lives at risk with impunity.”
Even though the media is not threatening any lives.
Matt Purdy, a deputy managing editor of The New York Times, said: “There’s a distinction between revelations that make the government uncomfortable and revelations that put lives at risk. We have not published information that endangers lives.”
And it's Trump and his gang who are threatening the media, as Dan Rather points out here.
With all due respect, Mr. President and Attorney General Sessions, it appears you can't handle the truth.
There are some cases where prosecuting leakers may - may - be warranted. But that is not what is going on here. The goal is very clear. The President has complained bitterly of leaks because he doesn't want to be questioned, even when he has been caught in lie after lie.
The free press is performing exactly as it needs to. And the proof of that is how seriously those who wish their actions remain undetectable consider the press to be their enemy.
To make matters worse, Trump's rabid right-wing base is howling with rage and fear at the thought of losing him.
Some like the sodden James Woods are muttering about a civil war.
While others like the NRA's Dana Loesch, are threatening to go after the New York Times...
In what is clearly an organized attempt to try to muzzle the media, end press freedoms.
And install what would amount to a fascist regime.
As David Frum tweeted, when asked what might happen if the Trump gang had to confront a real crisis.
It is a frightening moment in American history.
But the good news is that Boss Trump and his supporters wouldn't be squealing so loudly, if they didn't see the writing on the wall...
It's almost time to wipe and flush.
No American government has ever failed so spectacularly and so quickly.
And this hog is almost done...
The media is run by a bunch of lying Zionists. You're probably well aware but too afraid to call them out. REAL progressives know who pull the strings behind the scenes.
ReplyDeleteAnd here I thought Jim Keegstra had died. Tell me Anon 10:21, have you informed Ezra Levant of this development?
Deletemr perfect
hi anon 10:21... please spare us from your Nazi nonsense. The media is run by wealthy corporate interests who come in all sizes, shapes, and denominations. And anyone who thinks differently is just a bigot. Which reminds me, did you see that Ernst Zundel died?

Isn't that fabulous?
hi Mr Perfect... Oh happy day. Not only is Jim Keegstra dead, but so is Ernst Zundel.... ;)
DeleteCan't wait to see Mueller indict this giant sack of shit.
ReplyDeletehi anon...judging by what I am hearing and reading you won't have to wait long. The Mueller is coming, and the giant sack of shite is going down...
DeleteOn August 2, a new survey from Quinnipiac University found Trump’s approval rating at just 33 percent, a record low for Trump in the poll. The same day Trump's approval rating also hit a record low of 38 percent in the Rasmussen Reports daily tracking survey—a poll often criticized as being right-leaning:

hi David...If the Rasmussen poll is that low Trump must really be in trouble, because it has consistently given him better numbers than the others. Trump still has his hardcore base, but for how much longer?
DeleteTrump supporter Kayleigh McEnany has left CNN and has joined the "Trump News Network" 8-)
ReplyDeletehttps://www.facebook.com/DonaldTrump/
hi David...all I can say is thank goodness, CNN is hard enough to watch without Kayleigh and her shameless Trump surrogates. I will however check out (briefly) the Trump News Network, because it sounds hilarious...
DeleteIs it possible that because the man is such a complete and utter buffoon that he will eventually attract competent support personnel who believe it is their patriotic duty to keep him from destroying America. The initial pile of "play for pay" trash that surrounded him seems to be slowly dissipating and is being replaced with a more credible group with minds of their own. Even the far right slithery Sessions seems to have developed a tiny backbone. Nature abhors a vacuum, perhaps encasing him in a strong outer shell is a natural defensive mechanism. Time will tell but the first step on the Korean problem seems rational and so unlike Trump.
ReplyDeleteRT
hi RT...How fortunate we are that somehow Trump managed to attract the kind of people who might save us from his madness. I attribute the fact that he has so many generals around him to the crush he had on General Patton. And of course we can't really relax, because if the generals go rogue or go nuclear, Trump will go with them, and we could still go up in smoke...
