Stephen Harper and the Creepy Valentine
You should have seen him during Question Period today, staring down the helpless opposition with his cold dead eyes, like a hawk staring at a mouse, before it rips it apart.
After tabling his montrous internet snooping bill that would turn Canada into a police state.
The so-called “lawful access” legislation, tabled in the House of Commons Tuesday, will require Internet service providers and cellphone companies to hand over basic customer information — including name, address, phone number, email address, and ISP addresses — to authorities when requested, without the need for a warrant.
His state of arousal at the thought of all that extra power was so obvious, and so deeply disturbing, I had to force myself to keep watching.
Because let's face it eh?
This totalitarian bill may have emerged from the rear end of Vic Toews, the man from Filadelfia, Paraguay. But it was really his creepy Valentine to his equally deranged leader.
Because that old Con zombie knows that Stephen Harper loves power more than ANYTHING else in the world. He hates the internet because he can't control it. He loves to see fear in the eyes of others. It really turns his crank.
And above all he knows that Great Big Brother Leader needs to scare the population, and intimidate what's left of the opposition, so he can kill government, slash pensions, privatize medicare, destroy the CBC, and turn Canada into a reactionary right-wing prison state.
Even though his totalitarian internet snooping bill could compromise the privacy of millions.
If it is collected, it will be leaked. Forcing ISPs and websites to store vast reams of personal information, and to then build systems that allow the police to access it basically guarantees privacy seepage. And how many Videotron or Fido technicians will also need access to our private data, just to make sure the systems function? All it takes is one disgruntled employee posting their password online, and millions could be compromised in seconds.
Yup. As I've said before, these are the people my Mum, and my grandfather who fought in the Second World War, warned me about. And we've got to do something to stop them.

Tell those fascist Cons to keep their grubby hands off our internet.
And that we will not be silenced...
The Conservative government has called its controversial new electronic surveillance bill the Protecting Children from Internet Predators Act as it attempts to win support for the planned laws that would give authorities unprecedented new powers to monitor the online and phone habits of Canadians.

hi sassy...yes I believe they changed the name to try to sell it to the population. Which only convinces me that this regime is caught somewhere in some strange time warp between Stalin and Animal Farm. Because let's face it Harper would make a great Napoleon, and every one of his Ministers would make a great Squealer... ;)
