It was the largest Pierre Poilievre rally ever. About 5,000 people come out to support his kooky campaign to become Con leader.
And our shabby shuffling right wing media was so wowed, some of them are now even predicting that Poilievre could become Prime Minister.
But don't worry it was just Calgary. It was just a large crowd of mostly old white Cons, looking for a new Con messiah before they drop dead.
And Poilievre is not going to be able to play Crypto Jesus for much longer.
For the Con leadership is getting dirty. Already.
First Jean Charest demanded that Poilievre resign for having supported the terrorist truckers, who held our country hostage for so long.
Then Poilievre fired back by calling Charest a LIBERAL.
Now he's suggesting his opponents could be guilty of fraud.
Pierre Poilievre is raising concerns over potential “fraud” in the Conservative leadership race, demanding the ban of pre-paid credit cards to purchase memberships.
While Patrick Brown is reminding Canadians that Poilievre is the one who has the compliance agreement with Elections Canada...
And as if all of that wasn't sordid enough, we have young Ben Harper jumping into the fray to attack Charest and defend the far-right truckers.
Which can only mean that his father is lurking in the shadows, and almost certainly pulling Poilievre's strings, or yanking his knobs...
And when Canadians finally realize that Poilievre is just Harper 2.0, they will almost certainly abandon him in droves.
All of which has even Con friendly pundits like Warren Kinsella despairing at the state of the Cons, and asking some hard questions.
Like how can Poilievre claim to be for law and order, when he aided and abetted the trucker mob?
Another conservative core belief is a prudent, probative, predictable financial system. Lower taxes, less regulation, more financial stability. You know: Truly conservative approaches to finance.
But there, incredibly, was Pierre Poilievre in a YouTube video last week, smoking a shisha pipe, shoeless, waxing poetic about whackadoodle cryptocurrency Ponzi schemes. Actually proposing to make Bitcoin a legal-tender alternative to the Canadian dollar, which is something you’d expect from a twenty-something, pot-smoking Justin Trudeau, not a serious Conservative Party leadership candidate.
While Don Martin, another Con friendly columnist, worries that all that bad blood could damage the Cons beyond repair.
It’s scorched earth with a month to go before the FIRST debate even starts raising the temperature to a boil.
One can only image what the public will think of either frontrunner’s qualifications for leadership if this blitzkrieg of character assassination continues for the five more months until voting day.
It sets up the spectacle of the first governing party of Confederation being ripped in two while the Liberal enemy is laughing on the sidelines.
And I must admit, for once Don Martin is right. I am laughing.
Especially when I see Poilievre promising to build pipelines EVERYWHERE!!
Poilievre's leadership campaign pitch to the crowd included a long list — criticism of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government, the cost of housing, inflation, axing the consumer carbon tax, cutting red tape for farmers and the role of the West in Canada's future.
He also told the vocal crowd he would support building pipelines in all the cardinal directions. "We're going to clear the way for pipelines. I am going to support pipelines south, north, east, west. We will build Canadian pipelines."
For now I can be sure that all that adulation has gone to his head. And that he really does believe that he is our Oily Messiah.
You know, there are many issues we can use to trim Poilievre down to size. From his plans to privatize medicare, to his links to the terrorist Trump like truckers, to his plans to defund the CBC.
But since climate change is our greatest existential challenge, it will be the issue that destroys him.
And when we're finished with him, Canadians will wonder how did that kooky little Con get so far with so little.
And who on earth made him believe that he was fit to be Prime Minister?
For it really is a joke, and Poilievre really is a fascist joker.
Maybe someone should explain to Skippy that they (Harper's government) sold the Canadian Wheat Board to Saudi Arabian nationals. Isn't it nice to know that a country that openly assainates journalists who critize them, are the new arbiters of red tape when it comes to our wheat supplies. Thanks CPC!
ReplyDeleteI also can't help but think Harper's demon spawn is going to be a real problem for Canadian progressives down the road.
You think Poilievre is getting the deplorables boats to float, wait until the little fascist with the Harper name, is given the green light and the keys to shit circus, by his POS father.
You know he is grooming him right now, probably his whole life, on the art of dirty politics and morally reprehensible ideals.
He's probably introduced him to the scummiest billionaires like Koch who are doing everything they can to end democracy and while implementing fascist agendas.
My only wish in life is to be free. I never thought it was possible, as long as Perire Penis is not lying it may be possible. Imagine being a free country, even John Lennon must be weeping from heaven.
ReplyDeleteYa, I mentioned in a post over on my blog that Mr. Poilievre is bringing in crowds in traditional Conservative strongholds. Places where you can run a watermelon under the Conservative banner and they still win by a supermajority.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting that he is sticking with the West and that he has not come East yet. It provides him with some good visuals and gets the media tongues wagging early in the campaign but eventually he is going to have to campaign in the East. The voting rules of the CPC do not allow for winning the leadership on a straight "popular vote" metric. He needs to win ridings.
That may be tougher for him east of the Ontario/Manitoba border.
PP embraced the Freedumb meme as if he found a magical set of wings that gave him super human powers. Not a big leap of faith for a whiny sociopath but CPC memes seem to have a relatively short shelf life and the screeching on the way down will sound like a turbulent opera conducted by Karma. Whether or not you are in the audience, this type of entertainment will extract a high price from those that can least afford it!

Harper's crotch goblin is proving to be as full of shit as dear old daddy and former dear leader Steven. Let me correct his delusional tweet for him. It's PP who's lying on an industrial strength level. Then he laughably tries to pass off PPs walking brain-dead following as ordinary Canadians. Ugh! They're in fact extraordinary. Extraordinarily stupid that is to look at PP as their savior that will save us from the horrible oppression of being one of the freest countries in the world. And here I almost forgot, it's Easter and he is risen! Like an engorged zit on the ass of democracy. Like a swollen lump on ones neck or a Stephen Herpes on ones lips. He is risen and once again, so has my breakfast.
ReplyDeleteThank God my busy season will arrive before long and with it, long days and exhaustion that will keep me from seeing most of this slow moving train wreck. By the time they choose their next leader, the Cons should be so utterly divided that the only way to move forward is for those living in the real world break away from the lunatics and give whatever sanity remains on the right a viable alternative. If not, then the whole fucking lot of them are doomed to fail but not before further dividing our country and fleecing a lot of money from some very stupid people.

Hi DDR...Stephen Harper is still a god for many Cons, and there are many who wish he could return to save Canada from the "dictator" Justin Trudeau. But I don't think we have to worry about Ben Harper. He's too dumb to be Prime Minister. He also shows the same lack of empathy as his father, which is the last think we need at a tormented time like this one...
ReplyDeleteHi Steve....When I see the crypto-fascist Pierre Poilievre saying that he has come to "free us" I shake my head, and wonder what sane person could ever believe that? The far right trucker terrorists are always screaming "FREEDOM!!" And Poilievre is just pandering to them, which makes him unfit to even think about becoming PM...
ReplyDeleteHi Ottlib....It's true that Poilievre is racking up crowd numbers in Con places to try to demoralize his opponents, and we'll see what happens when he takes his kooky campaign eastwards. I can see him attracting big crowds, but it will only be because some PPC supporters and the usual Con Trudeau haters are coming together in what can only be described as a freak show. He can use his crypto baloney to impress the dumb Con base, and attract curious Canadians to his rallies. But if he does become Con leader he won't be able keep that freak show going for three years. A little Poilievre could be entertaining, a lot of Poilievre is unthinkable...
ReplyDeleteHi RT....Poilievre was quick to realize the power of that absurd "Freedom" meme. And now like some carney huckster he's using it to suggest it's the cure for "EVERYTHING." And since it means so many things to so many people, he's been getting some good crowds. But his rallies are starting to look like Trump ones, complete with music, lasers etc. And that label will be made to stick to him until the day he goes down...
ReplyDeleteHi JD....The problem we have is that our shabby MSM is allowing Poilievre to get away with lying like a thief, and spouting the most outrageous right wing crap. It's all about the rallies and nothing about the policies, or even about Poilievre's vow to "Axe the Tax" even as climate change is bearing down on us. I'm always thinking about escaping the mad house the Cons are trying to turn our country into. But it's such a freak show, I have to confess I can't stop watching, and hoping for a monumental split that will dismember the Cons, and for a few years at least end their crazy mumbling...
ReplyDeleteShame on Pierre Poilievre for not being in attendance in the House of Commons last week and doing his job as an MP for his constituents, but instead touring Canada on the taxpayer dime.
ReplyDeleteBit coin is inflation proof, okay where is the proof. Where is the proof Bitcoin is not just a brillianttech heavy ponzi scheme? This message not brought to you by Matt Damon .
ReplyDeletePoilievre is a rat, but unlike the Rat Pack of Liberal yore, has no special talent in government. It doesn't matter how many he draws to his rallies, if none of them are Liberal-NDP-BQ-Green converts, the CPC vote share will stay static.
ReplyDeleteAnd that will be the final humiliation for CPC: another loss to Justin Trudeau in 2025, a minority government or perhaps even a majority if Canada has resumed its kindness. That should be the final bit of holy water to send Pazuzu out the window, so to speak, and finally get CPC to either split in two or cease to exist functionally.
All we have to do is wait, and enjoy the fruits of the NDP-Liberal agreement.
The con clowns are so incompetent they cant even rent a venue large enough. Or more likely doing it on purpose to make a media spectacle of their foolish rubes getting baptized in the rain outside.
ReplyDeleteHi Steve...I'm afraid I don't know much about bitcoin. I read an article once on so-called bitcoin mining, and learned that you need to hook your computer or computers up to a power station to get enough to count. So it's not just good for scammers, it's terrible for the environment....
ReplyDeleteHi Pierre....Despite his many years as an MP and his faithful service to Stephen Harper Poilievre has managed to achieve nothing to be remembered. He has the reverse Midas touch, anything he was given reponsibility over quickly turned to shite, or was ruled unconstitutional. And so far his insane performance as a candidate has had no effect on the polls. It's going to be a long three years for Poilievre, and when it's all over I hope to see him lying in the ruins of the Con party he helped to destroy....
ReplyDeleteHi anon2:24PM...Poilieve and his Harperite advisers are trying to demoralize the other leadership candidates by getting large crowds in Alberta. Big deal. Let's see how many people he gets out East, where people are more reasonable, and not so easily fooled...
