It was Halloween in my neighbourhood, and although I didn't have the time or the energy to carve a pumpkin this year, I had a big pumpkin in the sky shining down on me.
And my friends and I had a lot of fun.
But sadly, poor Erin O'Toole who was hoping to dress up as a winner, had a horrible Halloween.
After the Great Con Pumpkin Brian Mulroney roasted him for being such a weak leader.
Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole should show leadership on mandatory vaccinations and show any of his unvaccinated MPs the door, says former prime minister and Conservative leader Brian Mulroney.
Mulroney said that if he was the leader today, he would require all of his MPs to roll up their sleeves and receive the COVID-19 vaccine, calling it a “no-brainer.”
Of course. That's leadership,” he said in an interview on CTV’s Question Period with host Evan Solomon.
Which must have left O'Toole feeling like even more of a loser than usual...
For this was brutal.
“Look, you're not the leader to follow, you are the leader to lead, and if you think this is in the national interest, Canada's interest, you get your members of Parliament in line, and they have to support what you're doing.”
Especially since everybody knows that there are so many anti-vaxers and other kooks in the Con caucus, and O'Toole is scared stiff of them.
Captain Outhouse and his filthy Cons never miss a chance to go after the gentle Margaret Trudeau.
The Conservative Party is calling on Ethics Commissioner Mario Dion to investigate whether Prime Minister Justin Trudeau violated the Conflict of Interest Act after his mother spoke at an event organized by a group that has received federal funding.
In the letter obtained by CTV News, Conservative MP Michael Barrett references a CTV News exclusive report that details how Margaret Trudeau spoke at Elevate.ca’s Think 2030 series on Oct. 14 to address the mental health impacts of the pandemic.
But he dares not offend his kooky caucus, for obvious reasons...Former prime minister and Progressive Conservative leader Brian Mulroney gave a ringing endorsement to Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole Wednesday evening.
At a Conservative rally at the Hôtel Chéribourg in Orford, Que., Mulroney praised O'Toole's leadership of the party, calling him "steady, strong and visionary."
Only to also end up looking like an idiot...
And all I can say is, will somebody please find a real job for Erin O'Toole?
For his Cons are withering on the vine, and there is nothing he can do to save them...
Happy, happy everybody.
I hope your Halloween was as good as mine was...
Bryan wants his O'Toole Cake and eat him alive, too.
ReplyDeleteI find it hard to agree with ole Lyin' Bryan, but he's right. Leaders lead. When it came to (allegedly) getting cash handouts, no one can say that Bryan Mulrooney didn't (allegedly) have his hand out for that sweet sweet lobbyist cash second or go out of his way for photos with the rich and powerful.
Barrett got nowhere with his Hail Mary conspiracy theory about Tom Pitfield, but I suspect he'll dredge that old saw up again if Anna Gainey does in fact run in a rumoured by-election. The Cons believe they have a winning issue with this Hunter Biden persecution campaign against Margaret Trudeau, building off last year's obnoxious grandstanding over WeGhazi. Barrett, Skippy and Chucklefuck the clown wanted to haul her before their star chamber and now they're at it again. I hope Dion recognizes an obvious drive-by smear that doesn't pass the smell test. Barrett should be sanctioned for repeated abuses of the office and overextending the scope of the committee.
ReplyDeleteThere's no evidence whatsoever that PMJT or the PMO even had any involvement in this. The organization themselves said they received no federal funding. In fact, this particular event was underwritten by Doug Ford's government, not the feds. Now for numerous other reasons, Queen's Park is a wretched hive of scum and villainy if there ever was one, but the #CdnMediaFailed to look there for multiple levels of corruption. That's because the #CdnMediaFailed to recognize that they're corrupt in and of themselves.
Shame on CTV for aiding and abetting con sociopath Barrett in their Halloween witch hunt. They haven't changed one bit since Mike Duffy (I think it was him) pushed Margaret to tears all those years ago. Framing this poor woman's courageous advocacy for mental health as graft just to score political dunks on her son or pressure him to resign, is really the lowest of the low.
McGregor should have his press credentials revoked for participating in harassment of a private citizen. Family is off limits, period. Lügenpresse lowlifes like him really are the enemy of the people. The so-called "free press" is supposed to be "fair and balanced." Not act as the personal oppo researcher for the cons. Dion should investigate the media for their "torqued" coverage being an in-kind donation.
Neil Macdonald was right in 2016 and it still holds true today: It's time to give Margaret Trudeau the respect she deserves.

So it seems Clintonesque Trudeau derangement is evident among many fine people on both sides. Cons strike at Margaret Trudeau charity involvement, while the nuance-allergic identitarian left moves to burn PET's nonprofit down. All this over the "significance" of who is oppressed enough as to take precedence in an acronym.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2021/11/01/why-this-professor-walked-away-from-one-of-the-most-prestigious-organizations-in-canada-and-others-are-tempted-to-do-the-same.html
"Progressives" showing their true blue colours by attacking both Trudeau parents equally! That's how you do gender equity on the Charitygate beat, if you're a Con with no policies or meaningful arguments to put forth. Reminds me of how many Bernie stans fell hook, line and sinker for that RWNJ hit piece called "Clinton Cash."
Meanwhile, here's a rebuttal from the professor tangled up in a maelstrom of toxic drama. This bun fight is not what PET would want to see happening at the benevolent society bearing his name.

I expect a bipartisan DipperCon inquiry demanding hours of testimony on whether anyone from the Liberal Party bought cookies from Ella's Girl Guide troupe. Barrett will "butter up" Dion with crates of Thin Mints. Skippy will throw blacked-out purchase invoices all over the floor at a press conference, only to get chided by another Girl Guide on the hazards of littering. Meanwhile, Chucklefuck the Clown will show off his brand new "merit badge": a membership card in the CPC.
Five really scary people showed up trick or treating at Stornoway. A SoCon, a racist, a homophobe, a misogynist and a Qanon moron. What did the tool say? He said "Hi Leslynn, hi Max, hi Andrew, hi Pierre, hi Cheryl. Where's your costumes?"
ReplyDeleteI like Lyin' Brian's reasons to kick dissenters from caucus but let's face it, if the tool were to boot all the wackos from the party, the ranks would end up being pretty thin. That's the CONnundrum the tool faces when you have to wear 5 different faces to appease your tortured, fractured party. Result, you end up looking like a flip flopping, five-faced, rudderless fool. But that is the state of today's CPC and the longer they remain that way, the longer the Liberals will be in power. It will allow them to make substantial progress combatting the increasingly far right wing ideologies that is hell-bent on destroying everything we hold dear. So by all means CPC, carry on as usual and by all indications, that's exactly what they're doing.

Mulroney is delusional if he thinks the nouveau Cons are true blue Tories and all it would take is a strong leader to set the agenda. The reality is they are a rag tag collection of religious zealots, legacy industry lobbyists and proud boys with the odd Tory thrown in for good measure. Actually stating policy would be political suicide so their only hope for victory is deceit , double talk in the form of being everything for everyone and attacking the Liberals in the hopes that unrelentless propaganda combined with a little luck will will save the day. Flip flopping O'Tool is their only hope for securing a mandate that will allow them to reshape the political system in their favour. Harper dabbled at it with his constant attacks on the supreme court and muzzling scientists to name a few but that was the early days, the road map on what democratic levers have to be pulled and how to pull them is now much clearer thanks to the pioneering work of Trump, Erdogan and several others. So what does the future hold.. one more shot at the brass ring in the hopes that with the help of a well oiled propaganda machine Trudeau will be perceived to have stumbled on a major issue or a day of truth where the marriage made in hell dissolves and the kids are free to choose sides or move on to other interests. Unfortunately Cons thrive on conflict where a hellish marriage is actually a marriage made in heaven so its unlikely divorce is in the cards at present but family dynamics are complex and the kids could tire of the same old story year after year and seek something more addictive. In the interim lets hope Trudeau is on full alert for monkeys throwing banana peels as the Liberals press on with their election mandate.

Hi Dan…. Mulroney is right when he says that leaders should lead, and he was a great caucus disciplinarian. However, I just had to remind people that he endorsed O’Toole and called him “steady, strong, and visionary.” How anyone could describe that grubby flip flopper like that is beyond me. And the fact is an endorsement from an old PC like Mulroney could have helped O’Toole get elected, and that would have been unforgivable….
ReplyDeleteHow? Do brown paper bags ring any bells?
DeleteHi Jackie…..I don’t think the Con vendetta against Margaret Trudeau will go very far. I denounced it on Twitter. And was blocked by Roy McGregor, which tells me those shabby Cons are on shaky ground. I think they will discover that trying to bully Margaret to get at her son, will be counterproductive, and damage rather than help the Cons. Especially since O’Toole made mental health such a big part of his platform. The Cons still don’t get why they lost and the way they are going they never will…
ReplyDeleteHi JD…You’re right, a lot of O’Toole’s Cons don’t need to dress up to scare the bejesus out of most decent Canadians. And if they had formed a government it would have been a veritable House of Horrors. No more country, no more values. But they didn’t win, and now, as you point out, they are stuck in some hellish twilight zone, where they can’t go forwards or backwards without risking tearing themselves apart. The Con establishment is still supporting O’Toole but for how much longer? Like you, I hope this horror show goes on forever, for sooner or later the party will start to crumble…
ReplyDeleteHi RT….Yes, you’re right. Anyone who believes that the O’Toole gang can be reformed, and the PC Cons can be brought back, or put back in the bottle, is frankly delusional. They are the ugliest Canadian party ever since the Reform yahoo’s rode into town, and began debasing our country and its values. Between all the religious fanatics, and all the alt right followers, it’s a party caught in a whirlpool, the kind you find in a toilet. It worries me when I see some progressives relaxing after the election and thinking we can rest on our laurels. I understand the need for rest, but we need to keep attacking the Cons until we can be sure that they can’t recover…
ReplyDeleteFYI: Good read. Enzo continues to hit grand slams out of the park.

Instead of focusing on climate change — the number one existential threat facing humanity — the garbage Canadian media is focused on socks, Kenney's whining, Maggie Trudeau's private life, and vulgar, libelous insinuations about how Melanie Joly became foreign minister.
I mean, you really gotta give Trudeau and team a lot of credit for pushing ahead in spite of all this. But Pusmedia and the Thomson family propaganda enterprise of CTV-GlobeMedia are making a very good case for why humanity (or at least certain segments of it) deserves to burn.
Yeah so, Simon, to borrow from an old saying, Virginia is for haters... tonight's governor election bodes ill for Biden and the Dems' prospects going forward... please do us helpless liberal Yank hosers a favour and keep Trudeau for awhile longer yet, eh? 'Cause I can pretty much guarantee you folks are going to be seeing a whole lot of "move to Canada" discourse again in the very near future...
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, the conservatives are very likely to win the next election now.
DeleteIf the liberals were smart enough, they would change the voting system, preferably to MMP PR, but ranked ballots are ok I guess... they would have to strike a deal with the NDP though, and I'm not sure that liberal partisans like you are helpful here...
After years of normalising lynch crowds that targeted Trudeau and other liberals some members of the UPC are horrified to find that once kooky beliefs are empowered the lynch crowd does not discriminate. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/tracy-allard-covid-protest-1.6234290

Hi Jackie, Virginia certainly doesn't bode well for Biden and along with his declining approval ratings, I point the finger squarely at Joe Munchkin and Thirstin' Cinema as the main causes of both. Those two supposed Democrats thirst for attention by delaying those bills are the best thing that ever happened to the GOP and the likelihood that the orange shitpile will return as king shit in 2024. Of course, if the AG Merrick Garland were doing his job, Trump and his enablers would all be in an 8x10 foot cell for staging a near successful coup. I mean FFS and WTF! Garland has been absolutely useless and as his name implies, a decoration. Dump him and put someone in there who'll bring the hammer down hard on the treacherous bastards or MAGA 2024 will indeed become reality.
ReplyDeleteJD
PropRep would not necessarily stop the cons from winning an election. It could very well see them split in name only, at which point they'd just turn around and form a coalition with Max's iteration of the "Canadian AfD." We know now that the NDP is more than willing to lend them tacit support because they irrationally hate the Liberals most of all.
ReplyDeleteWhat could end up happening instead is that the Liberal coalition is what ends up fragmenting: Blue Grits go back to the CPC, the kooks leave for either PPC or the catch-all junk basin of the Greens, and the rigid left flank departs for the NDP.
The manner in which votes are tabulated doesn't matter. As long as there are people willing to vote for their hatreds or their "economic anxieties" (read: fiscal selfishness) or both, an appetite for con ideology will always exist.
Hi anon@10:44AM….Do yOu realize that a glitch on your computer allows me to know who you are? I couldn’t care less who you are, but I do know that you are no progressive. So when you say “ unfortunately, the conservatives are likely to win the next election now” it sounds doubly ridiculous. Unfortunately for you the Cons are not going to win any election in the foreseeable future. According to the latest polls they are less popular that they were at the time of the last election, and with O’Toole as their leader they can only go down. As for electoral reform, Cabadians have made it clear time and time again that they are not interested, so neither am I….
ReplyDeleteOk then I will post under my name... what is a progressive according to you?
DeleteAlso, I guess you won't support the Ontario liberals since they want electoral reform? Will you be voting for Doug since he is the only one, it seems, who is the only one doing what "Canadians want" - not implementing a change in the electoral system?
Also, like I explained before, I really dislike the Canadian conservatives, as well as the republicans... I don't mind most European conservatives though, especially in Germany, Austria, Switzerland or Sweden... I don't even mind Bozza ...🤔😎
Hi Jackie….I’m sure Canadians would welcome any refugees from a fascist America, but when I see what’s happening in your country I feel like we should cross the border to not just put down the MAGA ghastlier, but also to tell progressives to get their act together. For seen from here they seem to spend more time fighting each there than fighting the Republicans. In the times we are living in progressives have only one duty and that is unite to destroy the Cons. Period. The same thing to a slightly lesser degree is happening here. The way indigenous issues have been weaponized to divide the left is appalling, and the way the faker Jagmeet Singh attacks the Liberals is disgusting…
ReplyDeleteDude -- Austria? The disgraced IDU wunderkind who had to resign because his IDU party was manipulating media and polls to skew in favour of his party? Those cons are OK with you? You know there was another "conservative" from Austria who attained power in Germany through a coalition-style system, right? The Nazis by any other name are now a permanent fixture over there thanks to the clusterfuck of PR, whereas if Germany had ranked ballots, they could be ranked at 0 and disappear.
ReplyDeleteWhere did Simon or anyone else say they wouldn't support the Ontario Liberals? What Del Duca is proposing is far different from the fracas that the Dippers and Cons made when they hijacked the ERRE committee. Trudeau's sole error was in not articulating a specific form of electoral reform that he would push for, and then implementing it regardless of what the other parties would think. He has a point nevertheless about how he would have been accused of "rigging the vote" to benefit his own party (an attack that still won't die), so he tried to have the other parties come to a consensus. Instead it became a dog's breakfast, so he shelved it.
The hypocrisy of the Dippers and Cons is that they, too, are advocating for systems that would benefit their parties, while blaming the Liberals as the "only ones" purportedly acting in self-interest. Del Duca isn't proposing a referendum either because referendums can go awry or fail. But instead of getting on board to compromise, the NDP have decided to attack him instead of Ford out of "self-interest." They fear that their useless party of spoilers and activist cranks would become irrelevant. Heck, if Del Duca wins and his AV initiative succeeds, it could give pause to Trudeau or whoever follows him at the helm of the LPC, to give it another try. It would devastate the NDP throughout the country. The NDP don't want that even if it meant cons would never be elected again. They have a symbiotic, parasitic relationship with the cons that they don't want to let go of, because they don't want the gravy train to dry up.
The NDP is not necessary. Their infrastructure is vapourware and their ideology is bunk. Their only purpose is to rile up freshman PoliSci majors drunk on Marx for Dummies and Chapo Crap House to split the vote and elect cons, under the guise that the Liberals are no different. I would love to see ranked ballots sweep Canada so that the erosion of the centre could be halted, the era of populism arrested, and the fringe kooks could be relegated to the dustbin of history where they belong. Not just Max or the cons but the kooks on the left. I'll concede that FPTP sucks not because it is "undemocratic," but because it keeps the NDP on artificial life support and the cons along with them.
I invite you to listen to this podcast where Alberta-based columnist Max Fawcett makes an incredible and articulate pitch for ranked ballots as the superior model of electoral reform. I take issue nonetheless with the host making it sound like honest-to-god communists having input in Parliament is no big deal. But other than that it's worth listening to. I sure wish this guy had been on Trudeau's comms team selling it back in 2015.
https://thebigstorypodcast.ca/2021/10/13/what-would-electoral-reform-in-canada-look-like/
Well, in down under, they also have ranked ballots, but they usually still elect cons there (of course, known as the liberals in down under...).
DeleteAlso, the Austrian people's party (conservatives) aren't denying climate change, and just advocate for an immigration system that's more like Canada's or NZ... also, the afd are basically a non-player in Germany, and are very unlikely to come to power, and anyway, Germany is weak both economically and politically...its much less important in the EU than the us is in NAFTA...so idk, but it seems you don't know much about European politics?
Also, I agree with you on the NDP, they are kind of useless currently
Delete... but on the other hand, having only two major parties like in the US or down under, it's not necessarily good for the left, since swing voters will simply vote for the right-wing, but in a multi-party system like in Germany or (to a lesser extent) Canada, dissatisfied left-wing voters have the choice to vote for other parties (e.g. the greens or SPD in Germany), so they don't move to the right-wing or don't vote at all like in the US...🤔
