It's hard to believe that it has been a whole week since the monstrous Erin O'Toole and his Con thugs were threatening to tear this country apart.
Mutilate our medicare system, kill the CBC, destroy the plan for a national childcare system, wage war on women and LGBT Canadians, while ending the war on climate change.
It would have been the end of Canada as we know and love it.
But Justin Trudeau and his Liberals had other plans, and that was then and this is now.
Now Erin O'Toole is a broken man, having to explain to his distraught family why he won't be Prime Minister.
He's a loser with a murky future...
Waiting to see who will be the first Cons, to stick a knife in his back...
But while it may seem that the nightmare is over, at least for now, another is already unfolding.
For this is what the Cons are doing to our country.
Shortly after Chris Sky incited the crowd to “go do something” (such as storm restaurants or the mall), unmasked people from the audience tried forcing their way into @CadFairview Eaton Centre. @blogTO @nowtoronto #cdnpoli #antivaxxers #JustSayNo pic.twitter.com/ZJWmPEleUY

That is how their diseased hatred for Justin Trudeau and our precious Canadian values is setting our Canada on fire.
Last week they were blockading hospitals, now they are storming shopping malls.
And as Dale Smith writes, NOBODY should be surprised.
It should be no surprise that this stoking of anger in the service of political point-scoring turned to violence, whether that was with the gravel-throwing incident against the prime minister, or Liberal incumbent Marc Serré being assaulted in his campaign headquarters. And sure, the leaders of the other parties – including Bernier – denounced these acts, but again, a single statement of denunciation doesn’t go very far when you’ve amped up irrational anger in a group of people who are looking to hurt those who you have blamed for their woes.
These kinds of tactics are deliberate. O’Toole’s social media consulting firm makes a point about messages shocking people in order to “invoke anger, pride, excitement or fear.”
The Cons and other toxic Trudeau haters have deliberately stirred up hatred against our decent and very Canadian Prime Minister, and then professed to be shocked when some of those haters have tried to hurt him or kill him...
But the filthy Cons knew what they were doing, because they have been playing that murderous game for a long long time:
It’s also not a surprise that this anger, not just in Alberta but in other parts of the country where the messages resonate, have led to an increase in threats against not only the prime minister (it was only a few months ago that someone rammed through the gates of Rideau Hall with a truck full of loaded weapons, intending to harm Trudeau), but also Notley, and ministers like Catherine McKenna. And it wasn’t just Kenney or Bernier stoking it either.
Both Andrew Scheer and Erin O’Toole made a point of winking and nodding to these crowds, whether it was addressing the Yellow Vesters under the credulous guise of only seeing them as their fig-leaf cover story of being oil workers concerned about carbon prices (when in truth they were the same far-right operators mobilized by M-103 the year previous), or in stoking conspiracy theories about the United Nations Compact on Global Migration, the Great Reset initiative, or even George Soros. They knew what they were doing, and thought it could work for them.
But sadly for O'Toole and his ugly Cons, it didn't work for them. Their bid to take back this country to the dark days of the Harper regime, failed miserably.
Justin Trudeau defeated and humiliated them. Oh boy did he ever.
He saved our Canada, for now.
And hopefully the hate mongering Cons will end up destroying themselves...
Supriya Dwivedi nailed it in her piece for the Star when she wrote that the white con media ignores these issues and the rot within their preferred party because it benefits their privilege not to address it. Look how they chased Wernick out on a rail and shrugged off the sausage maker. Their coverage of nonsensical "scandals" riles people up to hate JT as much as they do. They won't dare address the fact that last summer another QMoron was looking to "citizen's arrest" him for the SNC bullshit. That's on them for making something out of nothing.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't help that the self-declared "progressive" competition NDP is helping them rile up hate for their own benefit. That same white con media artificially pumps their tires to split the vote, and aid their white con political friends by painting Tool and his hatemongers as "moderates." As in, "See, they're so friendly even the NDP will support them!" Singh is doing in Canada what Sanders did here, when he brushed off GOP threats to women's reproductive rights and LGBT equality as "identity politics" in an effort to chase the "economic anxiety" of the "white working class." He didn't have much to say about that same amorphous group threatening Clinton's life either and Singh is no different. He'd let the country burn because he's all about himself.
That same "progressive" party advocates for changing the voting system in such a way that it would gain Max as many seats as they have, which they're fine with because "democracy" and because it supposedly would gain them seats too. I keep saying this, people need to read up on how the dirtbag left in 1930s Germany thought they would win the long game by enabling the fascist right. That's what's happening in Canada and what Bernie Sanders and the Squad did here. Populism is rearing a very ugly head and Canada is unfortunately not immune.
It's terrifying, Simon. I can't believe this is Canada. This is exactly what the MSM did here in the States, when they ignored the threat of Trump's white nationalist mobs or made them out to be "outliers" disconnected from the mainstream GOP, instead hyper-focusing on Clinton "scandals" or the numerical horse race. The media is corrupt and broken. The establishment cons want Tool to stay on so that he can continue presenting fascism with a smiling face -- or shit-eating grin.
Ibbitson, who is Max's biggest cheerleader in the feckless Globe, says the cons have to figure out their "suburban problem." Well, they lost seats by inflicting racism upon Chinese Canadians, but my guess is they'll try to make up for it by appealing to the prejudices and especially economic selfishness of white townies in the surrounding metro areas. Media will help them sweep the gun lobby and the Christopath bigots under the rug, while portraying JT as corrupt. Trump had a different reason in mind when he said it, but I agree with the general sentiment: The media is the enemy of the people.
Who cares, it’s Justin Trudeau. The hate for him is well deserved.
ReplyDeleteFuck off, troll. Isn't there a sausage party you and your fellow QMorons should be attending? Parsing the hidden clues in Tom Hanks movies and Trudeau's socks to discern who's in charge of the pizza pedophile ring?
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly makes him deserving of hate? What makes his wife or mother or even his children deserving of the shit they've endured these past six years, from the unhinged right and increasingly the loony left?
You can't give a valid, rational answer because one doesn't exist.
Chris Saccoccia (aka Chris Sky) and his anti-vaxx, anti-mask movement seem to be well-organized with communication campaigns and rallies designed to prolong the Covid pandemic. On Sunday, after a rally in London, he and his gang dined maskless inside a local burger restaurant reportedly owned by failed Toronto PPC candidate Ian Roden. In fact, PPC signs featured prominently at pro-Covid/anti-Trudeau rallies during the election.
ReplyDeleteAfter the Toronto rally that incited unmasked protestors to enter the Eaton Centre, police arrested two people. Saccoccia was not among them. Police are quick to use force to disperse native protests and homeless people from parks, but very slow to act against right-wing protests that endanger public safety. It's clear who the police sympathize with.
Hey Anon @5:00 p.m., beat it with your incitations.
ReplyDeleteNo one deserves the level of abuse that progressive premiers, women and Mr. Trudeau has received. It is sickening and I, for one, am delighted that CPC will be shut out for eternity in the GTA and progressive urban areas, forcing the party to eat itself from within.
Oh, and before you go on and on, we know the blather is empty.
How many votes did the Maverick Party get this election? Is is less than 1,000? No one believes Alberta when it claims it will separate, it's all childish, churlish stuff.
Thank goodness we have at least 2 more years of good governance...and good luck to Pierre Poilievre as head of the CPC.
And there in lies the problem anonymous 5:00. You are not supposed to hate your political opponents you are only supposed to disagree with them.
ReplyDeleteI profoundly disagreed with Stephen Harper. I disagreed with is policies and his approach to governing. However, at no time did I hate him. At no time did I believe he had not earned the right to be PM. I did not like the direction in which he took Canada but I could not say that he did not earn the right to take it there.
To this day, while I am happy that Canadians finally decided to vote out his government, I do not hate Stephen Harper.
Politics done right is people of good conscience, who happen to disagree with each other, working together for the greater good. It has been a long time since politics has been done right in this country and in many other countries around the world. Which explains a great deal about the state of the world.
Nah, I hate Justin. I keep a bottle of champagne in the fridge to pop when he shoves off this mortal coil.
DeleteThe party of hate has come full circle thanks to years of Harper and his successors constant barrage against JT or anyone who disagreed with them for that matter. "These kinds of tactics are deliberate. O’Toole’s social media consulting firm makes a point about messages shocking people in order to “invoke anger, pride, excitement or fear.” As you pointed out, Simon, Dale reaffirms the tactics the Cons have employed since Harper slithered into politics. They're taken right from the GOP playbook that goes back to the days of the Newt, as in Gingrich. These fuckers could care less about tearing their country apart so long as they can get and retain power. That's what it's all about and what really astounds me today is that the chief instigator of the January 6th attempted coup, Trump, is not charged as such. WTF is wrong with Merrick Garland? Is he giving Trump a free pass? I would appreciate your thoughts on that Jackie. Meanwhile, all the red states are changing their election laws to ensure that the next time, they will steal the election. This is happening right before the Dems very eyes. FFS do something!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile back in Canada, we're luckily not at that stage yet but the efforts continue to divide and conquer. The right wing rags of Postmedia were allowed to flourish thanks to Harper changing the rules on foreign ownership and they will continue their slow drip of anti Liberal rhetoric in the hopes that more and more people will fall into their web of lies and hate.
"Justin Trudeau defeated and humiliated them. Oh boy did he ever.
He saved our Canada, for now."
I couldn't agree more, Simon. And to Anon 5pm, you lost, loser. Get over it you big baby.

New Leger poll suggests Tool is at best uninspiring. It's up to the Liberals to expose him and his party for who they are at their worst.
ReplyDeleteOnly 23% said they voted CPC because of the leader. By contrast, 34% of Liberal voters said they voted LPC because of Trudeau. 38% of NDP voters said they voted NDP because of Singh.
Just 14% said they voted CPC because they thought he would be the best PM. 14% of NDP voters said they voted NDP because they thought Singh would be the best PM. Meanwhile, 23% of Liberal voters said they voted Liberal because they thought Trudeau would be the best PM.
49% of CPC voters said they want Tool to stay as leader, while 51% either want him gone (22%) or don't know/care either way (29%).
(A house divided cannot stand?)
Contrast with 82% of NDP voters want to keep Singh (ugh), while Trudeau's retention points among Liberal voters weren't mentioned in the article, but probably still high.
Ignore the headline, the key takeaway is this:
"The poll suggests that O'Toole was less of an asset for his party than either Trudeau or Singh [for theirs]."

ReplyDeleteThis is nothing new, politicians have been doing it for ages. What has changed is thanks to clickbait media it is now possible keep it full volume between election cycles rather than just during the actual election. Canada has Harper and Post Media to thank for the non stop assault on our democracy. To add insult Canadian tax dollars continue to support this zombie. The only positive is that revenues continued to shrink to the point where they will be negative in another ten years but rather than hasten their demise the Liberals pass legislation to ensure they get revenue from the tech giants such as Google redistributing their clickbait propaganda. Nevertheless, more Canadians voted for the party led by the "monstrous O'Toole" than for the Liberal Party. Hyperbolic rhetoric of the sort found on this site is the very last thing this country needs.
ReplyDeleteIts also known that character assignation style propaganda stirs up a hornets nest of emotionally challenged supporters. Traditionally this was counter productive as regular voters would not identify with them and start to suspect the propaganda. Todays strategists recognise this and are quick to focus public attention on the unrest, not the nutbars, and blame the unrest on the corrupt divisive nature of their target. Fortunately for democracy its hard to keep a good nutbar from stealing the limelight and negatively affecting public opinion as a result. On the downside their threatening antics are driving away people who could and would politically contribute to our well being.

Can we hire Dog the bounty hunter to find the Tool and make him confess?
ReplyDeleteThe Buffalo Protocol. Its sounds like a bad Bourne Movie but its a fact.
ReplyDeleteHi Jackie....Our mediocre Con media missed or ignored the rise of the kooky right-wing in this country. They couldn't see how it was becoming a mirror image of the Trump mob. They didn't see or didn't care that the movement was mating with the anti-vaxx fanatics, which will inevitably lead to violence. All they were interested in was going after Justin Trudeau. Too bad for them, he won they lost. And we won't forget what they did...
ReplyDeleteHi Anon@5:00 PM...I know you are bitter, you thought your jogging faker Erin O'Toole was going to beat Justin Trudeau. But instead Trudeau cleaned his clock, and now its O'Toole who is running for his life. On some days I imagine it must be really hard for you to get out of bed. But hating Trudeau won't get you anywhere. It only makes you Cons look even more like dangerous wild-eyed kooks, and ensures that you will never govern this country again. So thank you, and please repeat after me :"Four more years, four more years...
ReplyDeleteHi anon@8:25PM...Yes, I believe the police should use a little more force to keep those kooks under control. They can yap all they like in the the street, but when they try breaking into a place like the Eaton Centre with the aim of disrupting a pop-up vaccination centre, enough really is enough. And it's off to jail they go...
ReplyDeleteHi Pierre….I like the image of the Cons eating themselves, for goodness knows they behave like zombies, motivated only by their deranged hatred for Justin Trudeau. But like bullies everywhere, when confronted by decent people they fold like cheap suits. I too look forward to a few years of good government, but if the Cons think we will forget the way they behaved, they are dreaming in technicolor as we say in Quebec….
ReplyDeleteHi Ottlib….I despise Stephen Harperbfor having introduced the American-style politics that brought us to where we are today. I will always remember his first attack ads, and how I realized then that a new and ugly force was loose in the land. If more had been done then to condemn that kind of approach, we might have headed it off before it became normalized. Hopefully a new Con leader will get us back on track, but I am not holding my breath….
ReplyDeleteHi JD….Yes, the party of hate has indeed come full circle, and is uglier than ever. If Inhad been told that this is where they would take our country I wouldn’t have believed it. But we did defeat the Cons, and their NDP stooges, and their grubby media. Their leadership problems should keep them down for a couple of years, and when they do rear their ugly heads again I hope we will be ready to finish them off, by making sure Canadians are aware of every dirty little game they play….
ReplyDeleteHi Jackie….the best part about that Leger poll is that it shows that the Cons are divided right down the middle, on whether O’Toole should stay or go. That guarantees that the leadership review will be ugly, and can only give the Trudeau Liberals the space they need to govern, and bring in legislation that can only make them more popular…
ReplyDeletehi RT….The way the Postmedia papers behaved during the election campaign must never be forgotten, and something must be done to try to clip that monster’s wings for it is poisoning our democracy. And one thing the government can do is to stop subsidizing American owned publications, and focus on helping Canadian owned ones. The thought that my tax dollars are going to Postmedia makes me really angry. Especially since it wouldn’t take much for the Postmedia conspiracy to come tumbling down. My only consolation is that in their insane campaign to destroy Justin Trudeau they have shown who they are, and it will be much easier now to turn Canadians against them…
ReplyDeleteAnon@10:41….let’s be clear about two things. One, attacking hate is not hyperbolic rhetoric. And secondly the only reason the Cons got slightly more votes is because of the way the Trudeau hating provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan vote overwhelmingly for the Cons like automatons or zombies. Which renders the whole notion of the popular vote even more meaningless in this country, and is certainly nothing to brag about…
ReplyDeleteHi RT….The virulent attacks on Justin Trudeau didn’t just cost the Cons votes, they also cost Jagmeet Singh some support, at a time in the campaign when he needed that support the most, So hopefully the NDP will take that into consideration and will adopt a more moderate and more Canadian tone in the next election. Who said the election was a total waste of time?

This is "moderate" conservatism, everybody. I'm sure reporters will be asking Tool about this at his next presser, said no one ever.

ReplyDeleteYou are one sick motherfucker.
Actually, I take that back. I don't even think your mother is interested. Rosy Palms, on the other... hand...
In any event: Simon, call the RCMP. There's a sausage handler on this comment board. Hope you took down his IP address. This asshole needs to be reported.
Hi anon@10:42AM….Something tells me you’ll be popping off this mortal coil long before Justin Trudeau. And your bottle of stale plonk will be thrown out with all your other possessions. And as for your Cons, thanks to people like you they’ll only be a faint memory, a nasty stench of something that was dismembered by Justin Trudeau, and left to rot from the head down. You are killing your own party, and for that I can’t thank you enough….🤡
ReplyDeleteHi Jackie….Don’t worry about that little Con sausage, I had to delete more comments from him and other kooks than I ever have before. It was a biblical deluge !! But I left that one up because he’s harmless, and in my opinion not all there. It’s important to show you they are so they can be rejected, and laughed at by all decent Canadians…🤡
