Why Erin O'Toole Is Caught Between a Rock and a Hard Base

I can only imagine how Outhouse O'Toole must have reacted after learning that Health Canada had approved the AstraZeneca vaccine

But it couldn't have been pretty, even with all that lipstick on to try to make him look like a moderate.

He was hoping to use the vaccine shortage issue to destroy Justin Trudeau, so he must be soooooo disappointed.

And to make matters worse, he's going to have to use some anti-kook vaccine to inoculate his own supporters.

Because there are a lot of them, and even some in our shabby Con media are now saying that old Outhouse is caught between a rock and a hard place, or more accurately a rock and a hard base.

If Mr. O’Toole wants to lead his party to victory, he will have do to more than hammer away at the Liberals’ failings.

From the current looks of it, that won’t be easy. Mr. O’Toole has tried reaching out to broaden the base but, when he does, he gets resistance from his own caucus.

And Captain Kibo has mostly himself to blame.

Campaigning for the party leadership, Mr. O’Toole portrayed himself as a tax-cutting “true blue” Conservative – he loudly opposed the federal carbon tax – who would “Take Back Canada.”

After becoming Leader, he also started going after “bad trade deals” and “corporate and financial elites, who are happy to outsource jobs abroad.” His sound bites were light on content, but the language was more than a little Trumpian.

He liked Donald Trump so much...

He made his Cons the Trump Party North.

He raised the hopes of the party's many social conservatives, only to dash them.

So now he's too afraid to expel the wing nut MP Cheryl Gallant...

As any decent person would.

And now he's got a REAL problem.

Mr. O’Toole is today caught between a rock – the Liberals’ electoral machinations – and the hardening of his party’s base. One of them has to give way for the Conservatives to succeed, and it’s not going to be the Liberals.

Especially since the Cons are holding a policy convention next month, and with the religious fanatics up in arms it promises to be REALLY ugly.

Will O'Toole be able to clean up the mess?

Or is it too late for that?

And it's just a matter of time before Justin Trudeau flushes him in the next election...

Outhouse O'Toole.

He came, he failed, he exposed himself.

And before anyone knew it he was gone...

A policy convention?! What a wimp! The GQP had no policy convention going into the 2020 election. A real Partei does what the leader orders, no matter how unhinged. That's the sort of leader who drives record base turnout and violent insurrections. In short, that's the sort of leader the Con base wants, not one who needs namby pamby "policy conventions" to make up his mind.

In the alt reality universe the Outhouse is a real winner. When he speaks China quakes,Canada and the world rejoices as everyone bathes in an unlimited supply of tarry oil.
In the real world the Tool spent 3.6 million on his leadership campaign and with the help of the Proud Boys only won after the losers of the previous two rounds threw their support behind him. A loser endorsed by losers.
Perhaps somehow in this media hyped story telling universe the losers will prevail but no one will know as there will be no one left to write the history.

  3. The Tories should have picked someone like Sagaar Enjeti from The Rising. Michael Chong and Hugh Seagal would have been a serious, threat to Trudeau.

Outhouse Erin O'Stool and his Reform-a-Trumpli-Qanon-Cons are indeed in a very bad place. His base is lost somewhere between the few remaining true blue Con MPs and the majority of wackos drinking the blue porta potty kool-aid. Scattered about the alternate universe of dumb, dumber and brain dead. The big blue tent is now the big blue insane asylum and O'Stool hasn't a clue on what to do about it. He better figure out something pretty soon because at some point our mostly useless Con media will eventually be shamed into reporting what has been obvious to most of us for a very long time. The Cons are the Trump party north with a rudderless leader at the helm. No policy, no clue. So true.
Erin is in dire need of a father figure or, finger right now. He needs to snarl like a rabid dog and take control of his misbehaving miscreants. Except it's a little late for that now. The loonies have left the bin and there's thing none he can do about it without making a bad situation much worse. He'd be further ahead to self medicate as Tipsy Garner Rempel seems to do on a daily basis. Like her, he can always dull his senses with a bottle of wine with breakfast and lull himself into the fact that it's always noon somewhere. Cheers!

  5. Hi anon@8:44pm...Actually I’m looking forward to the Con convention. Those unhappy with O’Toole are expected to cause some trouble, specially the SoCons upset with the expulsion of Derek Sloan. I expect Outhouse to survive, but it could expose the fault lines in the Cons and that could come in useful during the next election campaign....

  6. Hi Gyor....I had to Google Enjeti, but he’s an American so he’s out. And Hugh Segal although he is a rare decent Con is 70 and suffering from some kind of blood cancer. As for Michael Chong he was squeezed out by others more right-wing than him who didn’t appreciate his support for a carbon tax, and a his motion against Islamophobia. The problem started with Harper who made sure there were no good candidates to replace him, and the party is now so right-wing it’s hard to attract candidates from the outside...

  7. Hi JD....The big blue insane asylum, I like that. I may be wrong but I get the impression that Captain Outhouse is losing control over his scurvy crew. I’m surprised that nobody in our bought media has asked where that outhouse tape came from. For whoever leaked it to the media is obviously no friend of O’Toole. As I have mentioned , I’m looking forward to the Con convention and hoping it will give us a better idea of the divisions in the party. As for policy, O’Toole has been all over the place so I doubt anything coherent will emerge from the convention, but we’ll see. I’m hoping for a real jungle party...☠️

  8. Hi RT....I found that $3.8 million very interesting. Outhouse clearly has some powerful friends, and I suspect that’s because Stephen Harper was so anxious to prevent Peter MacKay from winning the leadership. If that’s the case I imagine some of those moneybags must be very unhappy. In fact, if an election wasn’t looming on the horizon I think we’d see the beginning of a movement to get rid of O’Toole, because despite the all out support of the media, he ain’t going anywhere. The Cons made their bed, and now they’re going to have to lie in it....

    Hi Simon

Based on the US experience the moneybags figured out that the hard base turns a horse race into a stampede making it impossible to choose a winner. Their preference is a traditional betting system where they back a favorite with a side bet on the loser just in case. A stampede followed by grovelling in front of a strong man is not their style. Obviously they have whispered in Outhouse Tool's ear to get his shit together but he just smeared on seductive lipstick in response and is obviously just not ready! Its likely at least some of the smart money will decide to do a flush and rebuild afterwards but will it be enough?

    @Simon 9:04 a.m.ish...

Word from CON hack Rob Snow on local 1310 a.m. (Ottawa) is that there is a party revolt ongoing and that it will come to a head at the CONvention. Apparently the social conservative base (So-CON) is angry, angry, ANGRY at O'Toole for going harder after Trudeau on morals grounds and so on..so the fix is in.
Snow even let slip "How are the Cons going to regain power if they can't get along internally?" Oops!

Looks like another Liberal majority on the horizon. Not an NDP rule, but with Good Jack going into the deep beyond, Singh's Orange has had a taint of blue to it...

    Thanks again, as always.

  12. Hi RT...The Canada Proud types who are running O'Toole's campaign, have had plenty of time to appreciate that their shitposting campaign wasn't working. But they thought that NO means TRY HARDER. So now they're trying to make us believe that Outhouse is really a nice guy.
Too bad we have all the evidence to prove that he isn't. Just another ugly Con who wants to change this country beyond recognition...

  13. Hi Steve...That's a difficult question. But I do know something, by playing dirty political games during a pandemic he's only hurting himself. Cons are so warped they don't understand that, and so keep making the same mistake over and over again. Good...
