Ever since he became their Great Leader, Jason Kenney has been treated like a god by many Albertans.
As long as he attacked Justin Trudeau, demonized the carbon tax, and called those who criticized him "Alberta bashers" he could do no wrong.
But not any longer.
Now he's the Con clown King of the Flybirds.
The one who when it was revealed that a large number of his UCP caucus had ignored health guidelines and jetted down to the sunny south, announced he didn't intend to punish them.
Alberta Premier Jason Kenney will not discipline one of his cabinet ministers and his chief of staff after they both took holiday trips abroad in December, despite provincial and federal public-health directives against such travel.
Only to be forced into wielding a chainsaw.
Alberta Premier Jason Kenney has accepted the resignations of Grande Prairie MLA Tracy Allard as minister of municipal affairs and of Jamie Huckabay, his chief of staff.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Kenney said he has also demoted five other United Conservative Party MLAs who travelled internationally over the holidays.
After outraged Albertans demanded justice, and even some of his best buddies in the Con media called it a slap in the face.
Hypocrites!
I am gobsmacked. Disgusted. Sickened.
Premier, what the hell is going on?
To quote George Orwell, one of your favourite authors, it appears some in your government believe “all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others.”
Or compared them all to turkeys.
We don't ask a lot from our MLAs, to be honest. Just a basic level of intellectual function.
If Kenney needed to instruct them on this matter, then we really are being led by turkeys.
In other provinces the flybirds included federal Cons, a few Liberals, and the NDP MP Nicki Ashton.
But Alberta was the epicentre of this revolting betrayal, and nobody has been so diminished and humiliated as Kenney...
Especially since the grubby runt ignored warnings from doctors again and again.
And from the day he took office set out to weaken the medicare system so he can privatize it...
We know that the grotesque religious fanatic and ghastly bigot can't feel the pain of others.
He once worked to prevent dying AIDS patients from seeing their lovers for the last time, and bragged about it.
He got away with that, but this time he could pay a heavy political price. As will other Cons from Doug Ford to Boris Johnson.
For the pandemic has made them ALL look like Con clowns.
It has revealed their true colours.
And the pain they can't feel, will almost certainly destroy them...
Kenney has a 29% approval for his handling of the pandemic according to a new Léger poll. I'm sure what remains of his diehard Trumpian base will dismiss it as fake news because Léger is a Quebec company, therefore a bunch of corrupt Laurentian Liberals. Maybe one of the tissues managers for the Ukulele & Coconuts Party can call up the polling firm and ask them to find 11,780 sympathetic snowbird votes.
ReplyDeleteThe federal Grits would do well to link le petit cowboy to his acolyte Erin the Fool in an upcoming election. He could end up sinking ol' Eric into the tar swamp just like Dug did to weak Andy -- what was it Chopper Pete said? A stinking albatross around his neck?
But what I thought was particularly "Sweet" was that after months of hounding Trudeau and his poor ailing mother for their supposed "lack of ethics"... one of those "flybirds" ends up being David Sweet, the religious extremist Con who chaired the ethics committee! And then that idiot Con senator whose last words before going away on vacation were that Trudeau adopts a different set of rules for himself versus everybody else. Well, I guess he sort of does, because just like Kevin McCallister, he stayed home while all these other people went on vacation. Theo missed a cartoon opportunity here.
Isn't it ironic, don't you think?
If we ever wanted to see how Andy Scheer would have done as PM... well here we are.
ReplyDeleteEven when reality is slapping Jason in the face, he still won't bend from his love of Austrian (eye roll) economics/libertarian ways and religious fanaticism. Always the mark of a "great" leader.
Andy America wouldn't have done much different despite the shrieking of net Reformacons still yelling about "cult of Trudeau".
My country is insane. January 6, 2021, a date which will live in infamy. Kenney isn't the only problem Alberta has going for it; Ted Cruz isn't even welcome in his home country, but we don't want that enabling bastard on our shores either. In which case all Cons are enemies both foreign and domestic, and need to be deported on an ice floe to their own MAGA insurrection island.
ReplyDeleteBe mindful, Canada. Take it from a Yankee Cassandra. Keep and cherish your Trudeau for many years to come. Don't ever let down your guard, and take today's events as a warning. Only a fool would shrug off a nearby storm cloud and say... "It Can't Happen Here."
Both Alberta and Norway are of similar population size with a predominately oil based economy. Norway has a rainy day fund of one trillion dollars where as the AB heritage fund is close to zilch. Also Alberta leads Norway in Covid cases and deaths by a factor of 3 times. Although the Cons likely have hundreds of what-about arguments the inescapable difference is eons of Con governments. They not only take care of their own but create a vacuum effect that keeps sucking everyone along the path to nowhere.

While Norway uses hydro electricity to power electric cars, Alberta wants to use it to lower the carbon footprint of their tarry oil extraction process. Invest in yesterday.... something the Cons are extremely good at because yesterdays businesses have deep pockets when the gravy train starts to run out of track.

Hi Jackie...I do find it ironic, and disgusting, that all those sanctimonious Cons are telling us to do what they say, and not what they do. But seeing Jason Kenney's polls tanking is a happy sight indeed. His only platform was "Hate Trudeau" and make God, Guns, and Dirty Oil Great Again. It was pathetic and the ignorant rubes who voted for him deserve all they get. And yes, I think you're right, Kenney can play the same role as Doug Ford did in the last election, the role of an anchor at a shipwreck. Glug, glug, glug....
ReplyDeleteHi anon@8:51PM....Instill shudder to think what might have happened if Andrew Scheer had won the last election, and was in charge during this increasingly brutal pandemic. The Con premiers have been responsible for thousands of death, and if Scheer had been in charge the tragic toll would have been even worse. Thank goodness for the decent Justin Trudeau...
ReplyDeleteHi Jackie you Yankee Cassandra who we all love. January 6, 2021 will indeed be a day of infamy, but I hope it will also mark a turning point. The filthy Trump Cons have shown decent Americans who they really are, and I don’t think they will forget that for many many years. And neither will Canadians, for our ghastly Cons are the Trump Party North and we have been warned...
ReplyDeleteHi RT....Comparing Alberta to Norway is a truly depressing exercise. The Norwegians seem to have been able to have their cake and eat it, while the Albertans are left staring at a bowl of tarry sludge. Kenney and his idiot Cons need to prepare for an electric future or as you say get stuck in the past. There are a lot of very bright energy scientists in the cowboy province so they can and should do better...
ReplyDeleteHi anon@8:51 PM...I still shudder to think what might have happened if the Ugly American Andrew Scheer had been prime minister at this terrible time. And of course him and Kenney are brothers in arms. Both are creepy right-wingers, clammy religious fanatics, and can't feel the pain of others, or can, and either don't care or enjoy it...
ReplyDeleteNorway copied almost word for word the PET NEP. Between this and free trade, lying Brian has to go down as one of the worst leaders in history.
