Justin Trudeau, Iran, and the Trumpling Cons

For days after the shooting down of that Ukrainian airliner Justin Trudeau spent most of his time demanding answers from the Iranians, and mourning our dead.

He didn't have time to play cheap politics as our bestial Cons were demanding.

But after the Iranian military admitted it had shot down the plane, he did speak out.

And said what really needed to be said...

Some Republicans were outraged of course.

But no decent person could argue with these words.

“This is something that happens when you have conflict and war. Innocents bear the brunt of it and it is a reminder why all of us need to work so hard on de-escalation, moving forward to reduce tensions and find a pathway that doesn’t involve further conflict and killing.”

And no rational person can fail to note that both sides were to blame for that horror show that took us to the brink of an all out war in the Middle East. Or worse.

For while the Iranians shot down the plane, and those responsible deserve to answer for that crime.

If Donald Trump hadn't ordered the killing of Qassem Suleimani, the Mullahs wouldn't have felt the need to retaliate by firing missiles at American bases in Iraq.

And then while bracing themselves for what they believed could be a devastating American response, committed what even their own leaders call an "unforgivable mistake."

Only to have Donald Trump admit a few days later that his reason for killing Suleimani and ramping up the cycle of violence was just another big lie.

In the 10 days since it carried out the drone strike that killed Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, the Trump administration has been struggling to draft an after-the-fact narrative to justify it. On Monday, President Trump put an end to that hash of explanations. “It doesn’t really matter,” he tweeted, “because of his horrible past.”

So yes, there is enough blame for both sides to share.

But don't tell that to Andrew Scheer.

Outgoing Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer placed the blame for the Iran plane crash on "the Iranian Regime alone" in a series of tweets Tuesday – just one day after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the shootdown was due to a recent "escalation" of tensions in the Middle East.

For the Ugly American will miss no opportunity to attack Trudeau, the man who humiliated him...

And never gets tired of humiliating himself by sucking up to Donald Trump.

As he has done again and again...

Now imagine if Scheer had won the election, and was now working with religious fanatics like Trump's Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to try to stir up an all out war in the Middle East.

Just to make The Rapture come sooner...

We'd be in big trouble.

But at least three things should be obvious:

One, we really dodged a missile.

Two, In many respects the Cons are no longer a Canadian party, Trump is their real leader.

And three, isn't it great to know that in this perilous time, we have a real Canadian prime minister?

It's been rather amusing seeing the Liberal trolls slobbering about politicizing the issue while they do the same themselves. Trump is an idiot whose actions lit the fuse but he did not fail to close Iran's airspace or fire the missiles that brought the plane down. Not that reality matters to Liberal trolls.

    1. Conservative trolls don't understand cause and effect. Something about a butterfly fluttering its wings off the coast of Japan comes to mind. FYI, a senior member of the Congressional Black Women's Caucus agreed with Trudeau that Trump caused this mess over a series of big lies. I highly doubt she's the only one. The civilized world stands with Trudeau. Perhaps you're more inclined to agree with Skippy that the root cause of root causes is root causes?

FFS, we're talking about an maniac who threatened to withdraw from NATO over a Christmas movie and a viral video clip of world leaders venting about how he rambles incoherently at press conferences. What's the old saying, events dear boy, events? Not that reality matters to Trumpsucking Conservative trolls.

As you say, Trump "lit the fuse." Even you concede that he's partly to blame. So what's your problem with what the Liberals are saying?

"Trump is an idiot whose actions lit the fuse but he did not fail to close Iran's airspace or fire the missiles that brought the plane down."

Only an idiot wouldn't see that had the fuse not been lit, this never would have happened.

    5. Hi anon @5:24 PM....in my post I blamed BOTH sides for creating an atmosphere of violence that led to the fatal mistake that killed so many innocent people. So please read my posts before you start mouthing off.Thanks...l

    6. Hi Jackie....Yes, Con trolls seem to have an unusual "gift" to reshape reality to fit their biases. I have a scientific training that has no time for that nonsense. It seems obvious to me what happened, and that if Trump hadn't assassinated Suleimani for as it turns out no good reason, those people on that plane would still be alive...

    7. Hi JD....Don't waste your time trying to convince Con trolls about anything. They are impervious to reason, and if they don't like reality, they just scream "fake news!!!" It's simply pathetic...

  2. In other awful news, Trump for all intents and purposes basically ordered a hit on the Ukrainian ambassador. Remember when he griped during NAFTA "why can't I just kill these people" referring to the Canadian negotiation team. Keep in mind Putin despises Freeland. This is what they're willing to stick up for.

In a trillion years, Trudeau would never do to McCallum or (hypothetically) Ambrose what Trump, Rudy, Parnas and their goons did to Maria Yovanovich. The fact that Harper's thugs are willing to go to bat for this psychotic bastard and his Dominionist/Russia-connected mob men and chickenhawks thinking they're "owning Trudeau" shows exactly how low they're willing to go. They don't care about suffering families, they don't care about war crimes, all they care about is power and their pathological hatred of Trudeau.

Canada really did pull off a miracle in this past election. And judging by the looks of it, Harper's Frankenstein project is falling apart just like the GOP. Couldn't happen to a more deserving group of assholes. God Save Justin Trudeau.

    1. Hi Jackie....I haven't had the time or the energy to watch Trump's trial yet. But I will, if only so I can imagine him watching the proceedings and screaming at his bank of television monitors. Also, as I said in my post, Trump has not only corrupted politics in the U.S., he has also corrupted politics in this country by turning the Cons into Trumplings. So all good Canadians should hope that his trial damages him enough to cause him to be defeated in the November election....

  3. Breaking News, Herr Harper is der Zunkuft for the Repulican Party of Canada. Yep he made sure death from above would be ethical and resigned as a nuetral party of the party of hate and divison.

Harper has resigned from the Conservative fund board supposedly in order to campaign against Charest should he decide to run. Must be really worried because if Mad Max almost toppled his empire imagine what someone with some political smarts and connections might do. Guess he figures that if candidates like MacKay sold out the Red Tories once he would do it again but not with Charest as leader. The turmoil suggests that the smart money has decided that an economy based on tarry oil governed by religious zealots has no future in Canada and are quietly pulling the political strings to topple the Harper regime. Hopefully its time to take out the trash, at least the rotten stuff.

    1. And now Drona is back to the undecided category. "Sources say", "sources say". I'm sick of these "sources". Sign your name, and put up or shut up. She's not organizing a team of her own, so a bunch of desperate sycophants went begging to her. What's going on here? Does Harper figure that the rest of the clown cult are losers and is planning to drag her in? Because --

      https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/grenier-conservative-leadership-fee-1.5427808

A change of leader might have a minimal impact on the party's fortunes. Léger asked Canadians who they would vote for with a few different hypothetical leaders at the helm of the Conservative Party. Rona Ambrose and Peter MacKay (who confirmed Wednesday that he's running) both turned that three-point deficit into a one-point advantage — no better than Scheer's losing performance in October.

It all makes for good ratings and suspense, which I'm sure is what the cash-starved media is after. Why doesn't the decrepit old asshole just cut out the middleman and run for the leadership himself instead of these "sources" jerking everyone around. Put his deformed beast of a party out of its misery already. Medically assisted euthanasia is legal now.

    2. Hi RT....I hope you're right and that Big Money is quietly pulling the strings to try to make the Cons a more Canadian party. If that's so I wish them luck but it won't be easy. The Cons now have a caucus where about 50% of its members are religious fanatics who believe that only their God can tell them what to do. So every Con candidate will have to genuflect before them at some point in their campaign, even though in my opinion their party is too corrupt to be saved...
