Justin Trudeau and the Great Trump Tariff War

Justin Trudeau hasn't had much to celebrate recently. The economy may be booming, the unemployment rate is better than it has been for 40 years.

But the Schmearmongering Cons and their stooge media have given him no credit, preferring  to concentrate on one fake scandal after the other.

And the toxic Trudeau haters are forever trying to smear him and bring him down.

So he must have really enjoyed this moment.

When he got to tell a group of workers in Hamilton that the Great Trump Tariff War was finally over.

The nearly year-long tariff war between Canada and the U.S. is almost over. The Canadian government released a statement Friday saying the two sides have agreed to eliminate the tariffs within two days.

"This is pure good news," said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at a stop at the Stelco plant in Hamilton, Ont.

It was great news for those workers and their bosses.

Jean Simard, spokesperson for the Aluminum Association of Canada, said the deal comes as a relief for workers in both countries. "We think it's a great victory for Canada, for the industry and the North American industry as a whole," he said.

"It's everything we've always asked for."

And Trudeau, Chrystia Freeland, and all the other members of Team Canada have every reason to celebrate.

For negotiating with a maniac like Trump is hard enough, and Trudeau had to battle not only Trump,  but Andrew Scheer as well...

Who tried to undermine our negotiating team over and over again.

And while Trudeau stood up to Trump, and didn't allow him to push him or our country around.

"We stayed strong because that's what workers were asking for, but also that's what Canadians were saying," said Trudeau.

Scheer behaved like an absolute lapdog...

So his reaction to the lifting of the tariffs couldn't be more disgusting.

So disgusting I felt I just had to say this:

For a lot of Canadians worked really long and hard to get those tariffs lifted, and they deserve all the credit in the world.

And so does this Prime Minister...

Who stood up to the bully Trump and tamed him.

And by any fair standard for that alone, deserves to be re-elected.

While the ghastly Trumpling lapdog Scheer deserves to be defeated.

Before he shames us further...

  1. Your Charlie Brown prime minister is a good man, who keeps having the football pulled up from under him by Andy van Pelt and his Trumpian stooge propagandists. Finally he gets a kick through the uprights, but the bullies come out to kick him again. Good on Justin for standing firm and not caving to that bastard. Let this be a lesson to "Antifa Andy" (a grotesque misnomer if there ever was one) that trying to play paper tiger with the Chinese dragon like Trump did will only cause blustering blowhards to buckle in one direction or the other. Easy to play armchair quarterback and whine that the guy you don't like is getting results you never could, isn't it, asshole? Fuck this prick, Crooked Andy belongs in jail for foreign collusion by selling out to the Kochs. He's a comic book villain, Liar McLiarface. Justin is your Man of Steel.

    2. I included the photo of Justin Trudeau and his bodyguards to remind people that although he is very relaxed he must live in a hate filled world that people like Scheer have created and by so doing made us a more dangerous country to live in. For that alone he should be jailed...

    3. Don't all political leaders have bodyguards? Even in Sweden, where two political leaders were murdered? Olaf Palme, and alas I don't remember the name of the woman Cabinet Minister... It was a striking photo.

So let me get this straight, does Andrew Scheer endorses the Trump tarifs or not? It's just been hard to read between the lines whether he's using the Stephen Harper way of relying more on the US or not.

    1. Hi anon....Scheer only cared about the tariffs because they could be used as a weapon against Trudeau. Never mind how they affected Canadian workers. He's that cheap and that small...

    1. Hi Steve...I agree, he had to spend a lot of time talking to the ape on the phone, but he tamed him, many used Trump's impasse with the Chinese to full advantage. If it was up to Scheer he would have rushed the negotiating process and made a made a complete mess...

  4. A big win for the federal Liberals, Chrysta Freeland, and Trudeau. Ms. Freeland is one of the best negotiators Canada has ever had. No wonder Trump doesn't like her.

Scheer will not admit Trudeau has done anything well or good, even if he cured cancer, stopped pollution, and walked on the moon, etc. Scheer simply doesn't understand you can still complement a rival and retain your position. as they used to say, it never hurts or costs to be nice. Scheer doesn't understand that and most likely never will. My suggestion, simply ignore the man, for the most part. Giving him too much attention, for negative things, simply gets him what he wants, his name in the paper. Back in the day, there was an old saying, "I don't care what you say about me, as long as you spell my name right."

    1. Trump doesn't like Freeland in part because he's insecure about being outsmarted by a woman. Hence, his obsession with locking up Hillary Clinton. But there's more to it than that: Freeland literally wrote the book (Sale of the Century) on the oligarchs who back Putin and, by extension, Trump. She is barred from entering the country for her work as a journalist exposing the regime and for her role in ushering in a Magnitsky Act (Russian sanctions) into law in Canada. Freeland ranks pretty high on Putin's enemies list, but he also has his own petty reasons for not liking Trudeau. The usual Con macho homophobia, plus some innocuous off-the-cuff remark that Trudeau made in 2014 about Canadians winning at hockey fair and square. It's another stupid male ego thing: Putin cheats at hockey like Trump does at golf. He took major personal offense to Trudeau's comment because 2014 was the year of the Sochi Olympics when they got caught cheating and doping in their own country, a major national wound that Putin didn't soon forget. Funny that, Harper is another insecure man-child who can't stand that he got beat fair and square (by a Trudeau, at that) and seeks to lie, cheat, and steal his way to revenge. What is it with these guys, eh?

Putin also has his sights on not only the Alberta tar sands but the Arctic oil reserves. Used to be that the only thing separating Canada from Russia was Alaska and the Bering Strait. Now you're connected to a de facto Russian colony by the world's longest undefended border. (We're sorry about that.) All that stands in his way is who else but the Liberal dynamic duo that he (and Trump, and the Cons) so despise. It's more than just the Kochtopus who would stand to benefit from Con policies on the "energy corridor." It's Trump and by extension his boss.

Scheer is a demented puppet who just hates Trudeau, takes orders from the big bullies in Edmonton and Queen's Park (and daddy Harper), and wants power at all costs to massage his ego. His "foreign policy" is to huff and puff and talk tough even as he would give away the country to the highest bidder. Remember Harper sold the wheat board to the Saudis, and the sale of Uranium One that got tagged as another Hillary Clinton conspiracy theory happened on his watch. Scheer doesn't understand any of this any more than Trump knows the difference between a nuclear test site in St. Petersburg, Russia or a golf course in St. Petersburg, Florida. His ignorant base either doesn't care about the world around them or are of the same Republican traitor mentality, "I'd rather be Russian than a Liberal/Democrat." Smart people like Trudeau and Freeland make the isolationist deplorables feel insecure too.

Think of the bigger picture, Canada, because the orange menace and the Red Square madman are visible in your rear view mirror. NAFTA is only, shall we say... a tip of the iceberg?

    2. Hi e.a.f....I agree, Team Canada did a great job, and Scheer is too small to give them any credit. Elizabeth May was the only opposition leader to put her country before her party, and offer her congratulations, which reflects well on her...

"This is pure good news," said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. He must think we're complete idiots. There's no such thing as pure good news out of the Trump regime, and Trump never gives something for nothing. I'm waiting until to hear the price Trudeau paid before judging.

    1. Trump is the idiot who's 1) easily swindled and 2) running out of steam to fight multiple wars against Mueller, his re-election prospects, and the "biglier" trade war with China. If Trudeau paid any price (doubtful, but hypothetically speaking), it was probably in the form of a useless trademark for Princess Vank Spank on diamond-encrusted handcuffs (she went to Jared!) or a canned foreword for one of her bargain-bin business books. Or the promise of an autographed selfie of Andrew Scheer from the cover of the Rolling Stone -- er, MAD Magazine. Maybe he set Pence and Kenney up for a dinner date.

    2. Hi anon @7:07 PM...Actually Trudeau was right. There was no price to pay. Team Canada waited patiently until Trump needed to get some good news to counter the bad publicity he was getting for his clumsy moves on the China front. Like a good negotiator Trudeau knew that timing is everything...

Scheer has proven once again that he will never be fit to be PM. His petty vindictiveness towards JT will see to that. He's akin to a school yard bully, as his predecessor was, never giving credit where credit is due while spouting inane criticisms and overall bullshit that are as nonsensical as the man himself. By simply stating that this is great for Canada would have garnered at least a modicum of respect from me but as expected and what now is the rule, there is no respect or decency left in this GOP north version of our Cons. Political ugliness at its worst is firmly entrenched in Canada and Harper and Scheer's only legacy will be as the two who unleashed this despicable attack, smear, fear and hatred politics on us. Take a bow assholes, you've earned it.

Speaking of despicable, I thought of a new nickname for Schmearmonger the cartoon villain: Elmer FUD. Although even he wasn't anywhere near as malicious.

Fear, uncertainty, and doubt (often shortened to FUD) is a disinformation strategy used in sales, marketing, public relations, politics, cults, and propaganda. FUD is generally a strategy to influence perception by disseminating negative and dubious or false information and a manifestation of the appeal to fear.

They blame Liberals for disasters that RepubliCons left in their wake and take credit for things that Liberals do (or just don't give them credit at all). Consider, Romneycare was lauded as a great success for the private sector when it was hatched out of the Heritage Foundation, and implemented in Massachusetts under a GOP governor the color of Marshmallow Fluff. Then it became godless Islamo-communism and a sign of the apocalypse when a black Democrat took it national. Same here: Harper's debt is all "Trudeau's fault." The nuclear landmines that he left behind as booby traps are all "Trudeau scandals." The 40-year high in full-time employment levels, the lifting of the steel tariffs, anything else good Trudeau has done for Canada? "Oh, the Conservatives could have done it better. He's just not ready. He's not a grownup. He's an embarrassment. He doesn't know what he's doing." Then you get he's either "not the towering intellect his father was" or "a carbon copy of socialist dictator Pierre." (That is, when they're not spreading FUD about Castro.) Now he's Trump, except they like Trump, they just don't want a "Liberal Trump" with... nice hair? Cognitive dissonance, it's the Con way.

Yoda's admonition about the path to the dark side, and the dual meaning of phobia (fear and loathing), comes to mind. Harper's haunted puppet puts the FUD in fuddle-duddle, and they both deserve a lot worse than the old "Trudeau salute."

    2. Hi JD...I have noticed how Scheer's hate for Trudeau has become more obvious and even more disturbing. He does act like a school yard bully, and by so doing who's why he is unfit to be a Canadian political leader. He has always acts more like an American than a Canadian and is without a doubt the ugliest politician I have ever known. I never thought I'd say this, but I consider him worse than Harper. And God help us if he should ever become prime minister...

    3. Hi Jackie...The Cons really are the masters of disinformation. As you point out they turn reality on its head. If we had an honest and competent media Scheer and his ugly gang would never get away with it. But we don't, so this horror show just goes on and on...

    4. Thanks for turning up that Scheer anti-choice quote against the Morgentaler award. He'd be thrilled if someone were to reopen the debate and enslave women (and pubescent girls with incestuous relatives) as in Alabama and Georgia.

  7. The Australian election was won by the media, one voice. I think its time for the liberals to go ballistic on talk radio, the sun and the national disgrace.
Here is a good example of the failure of media to cover a story.

  8. I just had another thought about the trade talks. Scheer can't even bring himself to congratulate the team despite Trudeau making sure to not have it be a partisan body. This is "doing politics differently." He doesn't care that Rona Ambrose was involved or even Brian Mulroney. So he's not only slagging the country over his obsessive hatred of Trudeau, but members of his own party (and the party that it once was and will never be again). Just like he bitched and moaned about Trudeau's Supreme Court pick being "partisan" despite Kim Campbell being in charge of the selection committee.

Not that it matters to him anyway, Rona's a woman and he installed that MAGA prick Dane Lloyd in her seat, and the Ruble Media Reformatories of now have all but condemned Mulroney and Campbell as godless commie Liberals. Wonder how Doug's loyal foot soldier Sweet Caroline feels about Andy throwing her old man under the bus, or is she too much of a Borg-assimilated tribal creature to care.
