Who can forget how Stephen Harper tried to fool us, or brainwash us, into believing that he was a Great Economist Leader.
And how it all ended in dismal failure.
But now Andrew Scheer is trying to make us believe that he too can be a Great Economist Leader.
And he's also heading for disaster, and looking like an idiot.
It all began when Scheer was so impressed by Doug Ford, that he tried to model himself after him.
By suggesting that he could balance the federal budget in just TWO years...

But now barely two months after making that vow, he's changed his mind.
Canada's Conservative Party Leader Andrew Scheer on Friday plans to drop a previous pledge to balance the budget within two years if elected, saying Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberal government has made it impossible to do so responsibly.
Which as finance minister Bill Morneau points out, is no way to run an economy.
And Morneau should know, for he's one of the architects of Canada's economic boom.
And those numbers are truly amazing.
But of course, we know the real reason why Scheer backed down so abruptly.
First he saw this poll.
The governing Progressive Conservatives have slid to third, Premier Doug Ford’s favourability ratings have now fallen below those of Kathleen Wynne’s at the end of her tenure...Premier Ford has a net favourability rating of -53.5%. By comparison, Wynne’s net favourability rating stood at -35.3% on April 30th, 2018.
That showed his good buddy Ford to be in a really bad place....
Then Scheer saw that other polls are suggesting that support for his Cons in Ontario is tanking.
Mostly because most people in that province don't like the way Ford is "trimming" the deficit.
And they fear that Scheer would do the same thing if he ever became prime minister.
Which of course he would do if given half a chance.
For he is Ford's shabby stooge...
Which in turn begs the question:
What kind of prime minister do we want?
A quasi fascist goof who can't count, is making it up as he goes along, and would take this country to a very dark place.
Or a real Canadian leader who is standing up for our Canadian values, and presiding over an economic boom.
And I think the answer is obvious.
Stephen Harper was no leader.
And neither is Andrew Scheer...
I love that picture from the Parliamentary Press Gallery dinner, Simon. It clearly shows that Scheer isn't just a serial liar and an idiot, but not right in the head. It also shows how Justin's not afraid of or affected by him at all, and will fight the good fight to the last. (And unlike the empty-suit insurance salesman in the cheap suit bought on clearance at Sears, Justin looks so dashing in his James Bond tux...)

It appears that in that picture that the lawyer is far more dramatic than the drama teacher.

The Cons have spent the last 3 years tweaking their populist strategy which has two basic components. The first is othering as explained by the following "OTHERING IS AN ACT THAT MAINSTREAM POLITICIANS OFTEN ENGAGE IN, BUT POPULIST LEADERS ARE DISTINCT BECAUSE THEIR POLITICAL MESSAGES FOCUS SO HEAVILY ON THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE DIVIDE BETWEEN THE PEOPLE AND THE OTHER". DeleteThe second part of the populist strategy is a little more uncertain. It involves "the sky is falling" narrative to whip up strong negative emotion in the general population along with the narrative that Scheer ( in this case) is a strong capable leader who will solve the dire problems for the people because he has a strong unlimited connection with them. The sky is falling narrative has been reasonably effective in escalating normal challenges in areas such as public safety, public finances, public trust,resource management,and international strategy out of all proportion but attempts to portray Scheer as a strong capable leader with an unlimited connection to enact the will of the people has been left wanting. Yep, barrels full of manufactured crises but a strong people connected leader focusing on the real problems not so much! Its much easier to see him as a bobble head choir boy catering to Steve, Dougie, Trump and the oily elite rather than DA people.

Actually, Trudeau looks COOL, man--while Schneer looks like a rabbit-caught-in-his-headlights. Just picture Schneer's hands raised a little higher, where the ears would be. LOL
Schmearmonger's not a lawyer either. He's a failed busboy, part-time insurance salesman and career Con hack. A self-declared parliamentary nerd who transferred to a different BA program because political science was too hard. At least Trudeau had real jobs before becoming an MP. Teacher IS a real job; he primarily taught math, and also law -- he only taught drama for a year because the full-time drama instructor was away on maternity leave. The arts, by the way, are no less a valid subject worthy of study.

This election isn't about the economy. There is a huge elephant in the room no one is talking about that Cons keep exploiting to their advantage. An anxiety (especially amongst white voters) about immigration and refugees. The left has labeled anyone who criticizes this sacred cow as a hater or a racist.
Trump rode this anxiety to power. Build the wall, deport illegals, ban Muslims etc.
If the illegal crossings at Roxham road pick up this summer (which they may) Scheer will campaign on it til election day.
Funny coincidence... The government is trying to debunk a false rumor out of Kenya. Apparently Trudeau "asked" Kenya for a million immigrants. It's fake news, but someone must benefit from spreading the lie.
Well, the way to out the racists is with a very simple hypothetical question: would they be as "concerned" if the government was taking in immigrants or refugees from Poland, Estonia, or Utah? What's so "different" about Kenya or Somalia that it raises so much ire...?
