The Day Andrew Scheer Flogged Maxime Bernier With A Wet Noodle

He tried to hold off as long as he could. He didn't want to say anything bad about Maxime Bernier, and have his supporters come after him.

Or cause a big fuss at the Con convention which is now less than two weeks away.

But in the end Andrew Scheer was forced to do something, or say something, anything,  about Bernier's deranged assault on diversity.

So he flogged him with a wet noodle

For how else can you describe this flaccid statement?

Where Bernier is NOT condemned for his ongoing racist assault on diversity, immigrants, and the values that have made this country great.

And Scheer thinks he can get away with this:

“Personally, I disagree with politicians on the left and the right when they use identity politics to divide Canadians. I will not engage in this type of politics.”

Which couldn't be more outrageous or more hypocritical.

When Scheer is a religious fanatic and alt-right sympathizer who has been using identity politics and naked racism to try to scare people into voting for him and his Cons...

And for that attack ad alone should have been asked to resign in the name of human decency.

As should Bernier, for as Dale Smith points out, both him and Scheer are basically blowing the same dog whistle.

The fact that Scheer didn’t actually condemn Bernier’s statement, and the fact that he immediately engaged in both-sidesism to condemn identity politics “on the left and the right” seems to fit with the fact that this particular kind of shitposting by members of his party is not only tolerated, but is the modus operandi of their current communications strategy.

The fact that Scheer is using the same language about identity politics that Bernier is using certainly makes it sound like he’s more than just winking to them about the kind of dog-whistling that they’re engaging in.

But then Scheer learned everything at the feet of Stephen Harper, and Bernier is only following in his old master's footsteps...

Regurgitating Harper's infamous old stock campaign.

While seeming to forget that in a country with so many immigrants, that grubby campaign triggered an explosion of bigotry.

Which contributed massively to the defeat of the Harper regime.

And oh yes, I almost forgot. You know that "migrant crisis" that Michelle Rempel has been screaming about for months...

Well it turns out it's NOT a crisis.

Despite the increase in the number of border crossers last month, the Liberal government appears to have brought the situation under control. The Conservatives are wrong: There is no crisis.

The Cons lied about that one too.

Oh boy, you know a few years ago Justin Trudeau delivered a speech at McGill University called Canadian Liberty and the Politics of Fear.

It's a remarkable speech, and you can read it or watch it here.

But here's a short clip.

And I think it's obvious what vision of Canada needs to prevail if this big but still relatively young country is going to survive.

The Cons have shown their true colours.

Their masks have fallen off.

Now it's up to us to defeat them, and make this country clean again...

    1. Hi freak...you do realize that by calling me a violent anti-semite, when I am neither and anti-semite or violent you have opened yourself up to be charged with among other things defamatory libel.

Every one who publishes a defamatory libel that he knows is false is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years.

You will also not be able to hide your identity as you have for years while sending me one vile comment after the other. You are a poor sick person, but you just got yourself into a heap of trouble...

No, you’re not a violent anti-Semite, but you and those who post here are definitely not the tolerant progressives you profess to be either. You’re as hate-filled and venomous as those you complain about simply because you cannot stand criticism of the PM.

Why should anyone tolerate right-wing bigots? The only people I hate are haters, period. That's Republicon territory. Or are you of the "both sides" mentality who thinks that tiki trolls are "very fine people"?

You are entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts. Now get out of here and quit lying and spreading your shit around like a rabid howler monkey.

Anon@11:33 Simon has always fought bullies and has always been against violence. You should be ashamed of yourself. I hope you get prison time or have to pay a big fine.

    5. Hi anon@4:13 PM...Great, thank you. Can I subpoena you to be a witness at that freak's trial. I want my $50,000. But as for being hate filled and venomous that's bullshit. I'm a partisan, but Cons are the racists and hate mongers, and we progressives don't do that stuff...

    6. hi anon@6:20 PM...Thank you for reminding that poisonous today that I have fought bullies from the age of about fourteen, and have always stood for peaceful non-violent resistance to the fascists of this world. Fortunately that fascist is really dumb and just managed to screw itself...

      Hi Simon
likely you fell down the antisemitism rabbit hole with comments about the Harper/Netty romance and similar posts. The following is a wiki link showing how little it takes to cross the line https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_Definition_of_Antisemitism. Just another example of how well meaning organizations can attract wingnuts. Hopefully he is just another key board warrior and not a domestic terrorist in waiting.

An anti-Semite? Seriously? I don't know who that lunatic is, Simon but they sound as unhinged as Rempelthinskin calling Justin a Harvey Weinstein rapist and organizing a petition to have him removed from the Liberal caucus. Sounds like Max has his own breed of biker trolls, and one of them took a ride off the Hell's Angels compound on a Rascal scooter to do jumping jacks over here.

The cons aren't sending their best people. Wait -- do they even have any good people? All signs point to "nyet"...

    1. Hi Jackie...yes it’s bizarre, that Con freak has stalked me for years, made veiled death threats, and gone to extraordinary lengths to defame me by going through my blog looking for ways to slander me with my own words. Now it has set up a Twitter account and is accusing me of being a violent anti-Semite which of course I am not. The troubling part is that I can’t help feeling that it wants to hurt or kill me so the police will have to get involved. Lordy as if the world wasn’t crazy enough.....😎

Aretha Franklin died today. Clearly neither Max Bernier nor Andrew Scheer nor Donald Trump nor our visiting troll knows anything about

      R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

I doubt any of them could even spell it. They missed that lesson in Kindergarten. And by missing that lesson, I mean not only the lesson in "respect" but the fact that they never got that far in the alphabet.

  3. Cons to the right jokers to the left here I am stuck in the middle with JT.
We need proportional representation more than ever. There are no more good guys waiting in the wings. People like Chretien, Trudeau even Mulroney no longer exist.
We have a never ending line of people who started in politics in the second grade and never grew up.

It about a just society, thats what comes after the Magna Carta.

    1. hi Steve...proportional representation is not a magic cure for everything as some in this country seem to believe. And it can create it own problems. If the left united we would win every election from here to eternity...

Bernier is hoping the upcoming convention may see the light and unload Scheer. it was a try and we won't know until the convention whether it will work. This type of attack on immigrants, etc. has worked for Trump, it has worked for Ford, why not give it a try on the national stage. Hey, these boys are desperate.

Now to A. whomever criticising Simon and accusing him of being a anti semite. Now I expect you actually mean being anti Jewish, because being a Semite, well that includes some Arabs. I'd suggest most Israeli's are not from the Semitic people these days but rather from European descent, a lot of Russian descent and then all those Americans. Oh, and lets not forget Ethiopian Jews. How you came to the conclusion Simon is anti Jewish I don't know. He hasn't written anything I can recall condemning the Semitic people. Now he has criticised Israel and its leader, Benni, but that does not make you an anti semite or anti Jewish. There are a lot of Jews who criticise Benni and the politics of the state of Israel.

    1. Hi e.a.f...yes, Scheer and the gang are using racism as so many others have before them. It worked in the U.S. and in parts of Europe, and the Cons have nothing else, so they probably will try to use it again. And thanks for pointing out that I have never been and never will by anti-semitic, and even less violent. That crazy person is so full of hate it is going to be hav to be taught a lesson it will never forget...

I find it interesting that the tweet you used is from Kent Hehr. Some people have been blasting Trudeau for his treatment of Hehr but Hehr still seems to approve of Trudeau.
