A few days ago I wrote a post accusing Michelle Rempel of whipping up hatred against asylum seekers for crass political purposes.
And of being totally out of control.
So I'm glad to see that even some of her colleagues now share that view.
Especially the hapless Con clown Erin O'Toole.
I suppose we should be grateful that Doug Ford looks like what he is, a caricature of a Premier.
A man so dumb and bestial it's hard to believe that he is the leader of Canada's most powerful province.
And of course nobody should be surprised that he would act like a dictator, and slash the size of Toronto's City Council.
Michelle Rempel likes to pose as the political equivalent of Little Miss Muffet. A tiny shining light of decency in a world full of nasty scary spiders.
Liberal spiders who are always attacking her, or discreetly suggesting she's a drunk. And Con spiders who won't recognize her "greatness" or make her their leader.
And while I don't expect that to change, since she does like to scream about EVERYTHING.
She can forget about the decency part.
If the weather in the Scottish highlands hadn't been so perfect, I might have written something in the last three weeks. Especially since somebody once said that if you want to write an insightful piece about Canada you have to leave it.
So I thought I might try to explain how the Cons and other hate mongers had managed to corrupt this country so much, with the help of our shabby media and a small army of dirty old men.
But the weather was so balmy, the sea air was so fresh and clean, and I had such a great time sailing up and down the north east coast and meeting old friends in places like this one...
Canada and its fetid problems seemed so far away, and so easy to forget.
Until I travelled down to Edinburgh to participate in this big anti-Trump rally protesting his presence in Scotland.
I've been trying to get away from the heat, and the crowds on the waterfront where I live, by heading out to the quietest and coolest part of the lake.
But while that works relatively well, there is something else I can't get away from no matter how far I go, or how hard I try.
And that's the stench of the Canadian political scene.
We still don't know much about Stephen Harper's secret visit to the White House. Or what he might have talked about with Donald Trump's senior economic adviser Larry Kudlow.
For that picture of Harper leaving the West Wing with his business partner Ray Novak, is the only evidence some kind of meeting took place, and nobody is talking.
Repeated attempts to confirm the reports of any meeting between Harper and Trump officials were met with silence until after the meeting was completed, and Harper’s team has still not responded to requests for more details about the meeting.
But at least we know that Harper and his beloved Robin Novak, are still together.
It's not hard to figure out why Stephen Harper wants to visit the White House. He's been waiting for an invitation for a very long time.
And goodness knows he needs the publicity, since no Canadian Prime Minister has been forgotten by so many, so quickly.
But since we don't know what exactly Harper is going to do in Washington, and we can't trust him as far as we can spit.
Harper's sudden return is like something out of some scary Twilight Zone episode.
