The Incredible Hypocrisy Of The Failing Doug Ford
Well as you might remember, when we last left Doug Ford, he was up to his waist in the his ethical swamp, protesting or bellowing his innocence.
Claiming that he would never sell bogus party memberships.
Or intimidate another candidate.
And of course dodging questions from the media.
But what a difference a day makes. Yesterday he was still treading water.
Today he's sinking like a stone.
After a new poll suggested that the NDP's Andrea Horwath, not Dougie, is heading for a majority.
The Forum Research poll of 906 randomly selected Ontario voters has determined that 47 per cent of decided or leaning respondents now support the NDP compared to 33 per cent for the PC party and just 14 per cent for the Liberals.
Forum Research says the results suggest that if an election were held today, the NDP would get a majority government with 79 seats while the Tories would serve as the Official Opposition with 40 seats.
And while I don't trust polls, especially Forum polls, other polls clearly show that the NDP has the momentum...
And you know the Harper Cons running Ford's campaign are desperate, by the way they are reacting...
By trying to smear the NDP as anti-semites or Nazis.
Even though no other party has embraced anti-semites and homophobes more than Dougie's Cons.
With the vile anti-gay hate monger Charles McVety declaring him to be his kind of leader.
No other party has a candidate as bigoted as Andrew Lawton.
Who let's not forget, also wants people who use food banks to be forced to hunt for their food.
And as for those bogus party memberships, for once the Globe editorial board is right when it calls Ford a hypocrite.
It’s hard to believe Mr. Ford is actually concerned about the ongoing allegations of data theft, ballot-stuffing, fake IDs and bogus memberships at PC nomination meetings if he himself took part in dubious activities on behalf of PC candidate Kinga Surma in 2016, long before he became party leader.
And calls on him to do the right thing.
If Mr. Ford is who he says he is and believes what he says he believes, he should remove Ms. Surma as the candidate in Etobicoke Centre.
Which might be harder than might be imagined if there is any truth to all those rumours flying around all over the place...
And the really good news?
The election result will be determined largely by the rising millennial generation.
And while many of them are disenchanted by an election campaign that has all but ignored their needs again. And getting them to vote will be hard since many of them are away from home working at summer jobs.
They do hate bullies and bigots, and if they can be motivated, and they do turn out, like all my friends will.
The porker as I predicted, will ride the porky train.
And go down, down, down....
Thank you "Team Harper" for another well managed and a show all campaign, with what looks like another defeat if not at the very most a minority gov.Big Steve Harper sure can pick em. Great come back.
ReplyDeleteHi anon@3:59 PM...It's still too soon to say what might happen, but blowing a 20 point lead in just over two weeks does take a certain talent. Our Con media has always made the Big Blue Harperite machine sound like a force of nature, but the truth is they are a blunt instrument and mostly mediocre...
DeleteSimon, back 1992 or 3 I met a man who worked at Deco labels and tags(Ford family business)he told ne that the pay and working conditions were very poor. If things have remained the same,it would make a mockery of his for the people schtick,
ReplyDeleteSeems to be at par with the attitude the Fords have. Every time I hear he's for the 'people' I want to say yeah 'rich people'.
DeleteHi anon@4:27...I'm not surprised, every time I hear Drug Fraud call himself a "man of the people" or see his tacky campaign slogan "For The People" it looks to me like third rate satire. And when Ford repeats his talking points over and over again "the RADICAL NDP" I find it it hilarious even if it could be so tragic....
DeleteHi Frank...Well that's what it is of course, a millionaire posing as a man of the people. When I see lower income people flocking to his rallies claiming that only he is on their side, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. It's absolutely pathetic, and only ignorance can explain it...
DeleteANYONE but Wynne and the Liberals is all that matters. Blue, orange, green, all good. If they screw up we can kick them to the curb next time, as the Liberals are going to be punted this time. It's what elections are for.
ReplyDeleteHi anon@4:35 PM...I find your attitude typical of Cons who like their depraved fallen leader Stephen Harper could only ever destroy rather than build. As a result he left nothing behind to remember him by except bad memories. I on the other hand only ask for a progressive government and I don't care what colour it is. As long as it keeps paving over the Cons I will be happy and more than satisfied....
DeleteWhat a difference a month makes. Doug the slug was heading for a super majority and now he'll be lucky to keep Horwath from one.
ReplyDeleteI wondered if Ontarians would wake up to who and what this clown ape is and they have. Couple that with his scandals of late and voila! King Bong's rise and fall is nearing completion.
Simon, I feel we need to give credit where credit is due in this dramatic change in the polls. Thanks to all the idiots in the PC party who instilled this meathead as their leader when they would have been guaranteed a victory with Christine Elliott. I guess you truly cant fix stupid.
JD
Hi JD...Yes, I must admit the thought of Doug Ford with a massive majority was depressing, and I wondered whether this country was dealing with a serious case of Trumpitis. It is encouraging to see Ontarians rejecting the idea of that ape as a Premier, and I only hope they can keep that up. And you're right, we do need to thank all those Cons, especially Tanya Granic Allen and her legions of religious fanatics, for taking aim at us and shooting themselves in the foot...
DeleteSome of the Cons who comment here must be slashing their wrists. They believed Druggie Fraud when he said he was going to win the biggest majority in Canadian history. What a loser Ha Ha Ha Ha.
ReplyDeleteHi anon@4:57 PM...yes, I fear the worst. I usually have to sweep at least three of them off the deck every morning, but they've been remarkably silent since Ford's poll numbers started tanking. I suppose it's not surprising. It can't be easy going from hope to despair in just a couple of weeks. I feel for them, and if they need any Kool Aid I'd be only too happy to supply it...
DeleteOT: I hope the police find whoever those two POS bomb attackers were at that Indian restaurant in Mississauga. I'm glad to know that none of the 15 people injured were killed. Right now there's no clear indication of motive or the identity of the bombers. But if it turns out to be a pair of white guys perpetrating a hate crime in one of Canada's most diverse cities, I hope they get punished to the fullest extent of the law, and right-wing terrorism takes front and center focus in the kind of violence that must be stopped.
ReplyDeletehi Jackie...Police are saying that they don't believe it was a terrorist attack or a hate crime. But it certainly was a cowardly attack, especially since there was a children's birthday party going on inside. And like you,I can only hope they can quickly arrest those responsible and make an example out of them...
DeleteEven though I live in the QC side of the Ottawa river these days, this election means a ton to me.
ReplyDeleteFirst, Lyra Evans, the first openly trans woman candidate in Ontario history, is a friend and I wish her well, running for NDP.
Second, other friends will be impacted by cuts to health.
Lastly, Doug Ford is an abomination that needs to be stopped before we become WORSE than under Harris, if that is at all possible.
Go NDP, go Andrea and go away Dirty Doug....
all good reasons to vote NDP. I am glad the voters do not care about the Poppy Girl or the Boycott. People have opinions. Personally I think Poppy Girl is a spoiled brat. The Boycott, has no foundation. But thats no reason not to vote NDP.
DeleteHi Pierre...lucky you for living on the safe side of the Ottawa river, where I'm glad to see the CACA Party is slowly deflating just like the Ford Nation appears to be doing. But yes, if I still lived in Quebec I'd feel the same way. The bestial ape Ford could hurt a lot of people, and do serious damage to the fabric of this nation...
DeleteI am so glad Doogie has been rejected. We saw Mike Harris and Stephen Harper and thank God the voters have chosen not to let history repeat itself.
ReplyDeleteDrug Ford for premier lollol
ReplyDeleteHi Steve...Ford has not been rejected yet, and he could still end up as Premier of Ontario in command of a majority government. There are some encouraging signs, and hopefully at this Sunday's debate he will complete his self destruction. But let's not kid ourselves this nightmare is not over, and our precious Canadian values are still in terrible danger....
ReplyDeletehi anon@8:49 PM...I'm glad you like the name, but to be precise his full name is Drug Fraud. For everything about him says fraud to me, and the fact that he is able to fool so many people is simply appalling...
ReplyDeleteNot long ago Jason Kenny was jumping up and down thinking about Reformatories in power in Ontario and Alberta, thus putting more than half of Canadians under Con governance. Now the trend is to NDP governments in BC and Ontario , thus putting more than half of Canadians under NDP governance.
ReplyDeleteA week is , indeed , a long time in politics.
Is he also against legalising cannabis... so they can keep the business in the family?
ReplyDeleteGREAT news from Ireland though!
ah, Skull looked lovely in the corner of the swamp! do like her/him.
ReplyDeleteAs long as Ford does not win a majority, all will be good. If the Liberals are to loose the election then the NDP will be a good alternative and we will have 3 NDP provincial governments in the country. Not a bad start.
Now "buck a beer" - is that even legal under minimum pricing guidelines? I strongly doubt it.
ReplyDeleteMy riding of Milton has Parm Gill running. The guy who allegedly promised favors to win the nomination. Whats curious is he was the MP for Brampton Springdale from 2011-2015, so why is he running in Milton?
