Roseanne Barr: Another Bigot Bites The Dust

I never watched any episodes of the Roseanne Barr show, not the old series or the new one.

But I knew she was a Trump supporter and a vile racist.

So I thought this was very good news.

And I congratulate ABC for having the guts to cancel her rebooted show.

ABC canceled the hit sitcom “Roseanne” on Tuesday hours after the show’s star and co-creator, Roseanne Barr, posted a racist tweet about a former top adviser to President Barack Obama.

Early on Tuesday, Ms. Barr posted a comment about Valerie Jarrett, an African-American woman who was a senior adviser to Mr. Obama throughout his presidency and considered one of his most influential aides, that said if “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.”

Especially since it was the highest rated show of the broadcast season.

I feel bad for the other actors and technicians who will be losing their jobs because of her mouthy bigotry.

And I also feel bad for the producers who tried to reflect the lives of the many millions of Trump supporters, living in his new and ugly America

What Barr did Tuesday is, unfortunately, not a bizarre occurrence in America right now. Many of us have experienced a return home or a reunion with old friends only to find that the conversational dynamic has shifted toward an ugly and unacceptable place. Blame Fox News, blame Infowars, blame the rise of Donald Trump — whatever mechanism of good manners used to direct traffic between people’s darkest thoughts and their big mouths has atrophied.

Your grandfather changed. Your aunt changed. Your next-door neighbor planted Trump signs all over her yard. A high school classmate posted a racist cartoon on Facebook.

But Roseanne Barr was never the right woman for the job, and racism isn't funny.

So good riddance to bad rubbish.

But don't worry, she's a multi-millionaire and she'll soon have another job.

If Info Wars doesn't hire her, Ezra Levant will...

For I'm sure she'd love to work for another big mouth.

And when I think of it now.

They were born for each other...

I agree that Barr would look right at home on Ezra Levant’s Rebel. However, sadly for Levant, Rosie woukd have to be a bag lady before he could afford her. From what I’ve heard, at the Rebel Ezra gets the big money and all the others get peanuts.

    1. hi anon@6:18 PM....yes of course Levant's ratty Rebel could never afford Barr. I've also heard that most of the money Levant receives from his faithful suckers goes towards his high-end living expenses, and of course his legal bike...

If Levant lasts another ten years, which I doubt, he could have Roseanne and Faith Goldy for the price of a bus ticket. By that time Goldy will probably be working the street, and Barr should be totally senile, so they can talk and mud wrestle at the same time. All we need is a good name for that segment like “White Pride.” 😂😂😂

    1. hi anon@6:50 PM...Roseanne and Faith Goldy in a mud wrestling ring? Now that's a show I might actually be prepared to pay a dollar or at least a quarter to match. The Rebel is still trying to turn Goldy into a martyr after she got into a scuffle with anti-racism protesters at the Quebec-US border.
But sadly for her, nobody believes she could ever be a martyr, so Ezra will probably have to pimp her off if he hopes to raise any serious money.... :)

I watch the old Roseanne show when I was a kid and I used to enjoy it. But Barr became really weird in the years since then, and I thought her new show was just weird. Although to be fair. I don’t think any comedy about Trump’s people could make me laugh.

    1. hi anon@6:59....I've heard several people say that. The old show was better, but the new one really sucks. My personal belief is that she has or had a drug problem and has never quite recovered. I read an article in Vox that explains rather well why she was cancelled. The show's ratings may still have been relatively good, but they were going down, and all the younger demographic had abandoned her. So now ABC doesn't look quite as noble, and Barr of course wouldn't know noble if it jumped up and bit her...

  4. I never saw a shred of humour or insight in Rosanne. Even rabble rousers like Trump and Doogie have some kind of twisted logic to back up their ridiculous arguments.

Right now in England we are seeing a hero being made out of a Levant type character.

    1. Hi Steve....are you talking about Tommy Robinson? If so I'm glad to see that he's going to get to spend a year as a guest of her majesty. That wretched bigot certainly deserves it....

    2. Yes Tommy boy. For me this is the danger, idiots like him twist things in a stupid direction. He has been locked up without comment, and making comment is illegal. Very orwellian.

The show provided insight on the problems facing a multi generational financially insecure working class that rapid change left behind. Its unfortunate that the show was cancelled as understanding the root of a problem normally precedes solution. Although she now claims it was ambien induced, Roseanne could not keep a lid on the bigotry.

  6. Hi RT...I'll have to take your word for it. But from what I've read it did seem to be a brave attempt to reflect the lives of those who are often forgotten. And all because of Barr's big mouth...

  7. I've never watched it - not one for TV, much less US tv. A certified working-class family member watched the old show a few times and told me that it demeaned working-class people, who are not necessarily vulgarians.

Look at how many working-class people who have struggled and sacrificed so their children could get a higher education (whether academic or highly-skilled trades)...

As for the bigot, she has bags of money and is of pensionable age. She should just go away.
