Is Donald Trump Now Too Senile To Remain In Office?

Donald Trump has been acting strangely for quite a while. Some moments he's there, some moments he isn't.

But his sudden decision to grant New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt an interview two days ago, after spotting him having lunch at his Mar-A-Lago club, was bizarre even by his standards.

And when his advisers or controllers or daycare workers heard about that, they were very unhappy.

When President Trump sat down with a reporter for a wide-ranging, 30-minute interview at his private golf club here Thursday, not a single aide or adviser was present at the table — and not a single aide or adviser knew about it in advance.

Because they know that when The Beast is off the leash he's capable of saying or doing ANYTHING.

And sure enough they were right.

The rambling interview was so packed full of lies, Schmidt was practically overwhelmed.

President Trump gave an impromptu half-hour interview with the New York Times on Dec. 28. We combed through the transcript and here’s a quick roundup of the false, misleading or dubious claims that he made, at a rate of one every 75 seconds.

And who can blame him eh?

When the lies came at him so fast and furiously he hardly had time to say anything before the next one arrived.

“There was tremendous collusion on behalf of the Russians and the Democrats. There was no collusion with respect to my campaign.”

Each one crazier than the other.

“What I’ve done is, I have absolute right to do what I want to do with the Justice Department.”

And who would dare tell the emperor he has no clothes?

“I know the details of taxes better than anybody. Better than the greatest C.P.A. I know the details of health care better than most, better than most.”

But while Schmidt has been heavily criticized for letting Trump get away with all those whoppers, others like Esquire's Charles Pierce believe that his interview may have revealed the scariest truth of all:

Trump is a man in cognitive decline.

What Schmidt actually got out of this interview is a far more serious problem for the country. In my view, the interview is a clinical study of a man in severe cognitive decline, if not the early stages of outright dementia.

Over the past 30 years, I’ve seen my father and all of his siblings slide into the shadows and fog of Alzheimer’s Disease.

A man unable to cope with the complexity and dangers of the world around him...

In this interview, the president* is only intermittently coherent. He talks in semi-sentences and is always groping for something that sounds familiar, even if it makes no sense whatsoever and even if it blatantly contradicts something he said two minutes earlier. To my ears, anyway, this is more than the president*’s well-known allergy to the truth. This is a classic coping mechanism employed when language skills are coming apart.

A man stumbling through the wilderness of delusion...

And threatening to take us all on a nightmare journey to nuclear war.

I mean let's get real eh?

If his cognitive decline continues even Trump's Disneyworld lookalike will soon sound better than he does.

You know, that animatronic Trump reminds of the time when Andrew Scheer was known as the robot Speaker of the House of Commons...

And since the dangerous dotard Trump holds the fate of as many as a million Canadian jobs in his tiny hands.

Aren't you glad that Scheer isn't the one we have to count on to stop him?

And that Canadians trust a real leader to get the job done.

According to a new Ipsos poll commissioned by Global News, a majority of Canadians believe Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is doing a good job managing Canada’s relationship with the U.S. President.

But if we are going to get a deal, Trudeau better step on the gas.

Because the dotard isn't going to get any better.

And we're running out of time...

The NYT interview is exactly what is wrong with journalism. Letting trump babble on without push back is what got him the nomination and then the Presidency. Democracy dies in deference.

    1. hi anon...normally I would agree with you, it's outrageous to allow Trump to get away with so many blatant lies.
But as the Esquire writer says, there was some merit in letting Trump table on like a maniac, for he really exposed his ignorance, and his cognitive decline.
In this case democracy might actually survive when enough people realize that Trump is losing his marbles and preparing to play Mr Dictato Head...

Justin doesn't have to worry about NAFTA. The American empire is on the decline, and he has already been negotiating with other countries and with individual state governors like Jerry Brown as a backup plan for when it finally does. Trump actually threw a tantrum in front of Angela Merkel, saying eleven times that he wanted a single-country trade deal with Germany only. What's the twelfth Christmas gift anyway? Dumkopfeve's a-dotarding? Because it wasn't until the twelfth time he insisted on a single-country deal that Merkel finally shut him down and he agreed to a deal with the EU. He'll forget it by tomorrow if he hasn't already. Merkel has already written off the USA as "no longer a reliable partner." At least not while Trump is around. If the Americans wisen up and kick out the GOP, that could change, but it's going to take awhile to repair our global relationships if they ever can be again.

Macron is poaching climate scientists with his Make the Planet Great Again project that's resulting with a brain drain of America's best and brightest who are no longer welcome here. Brexit is going to be a clusterfuddle and May won't last long once buyers' remorse kicks in. But Trudeau is the "APEC Darling" who already wisely planned ahead and started getting things in motion with Mexico last summer at that Three Amigos summit with Pena-Nieto and Obama, and with China and Japan before that, in anticipation for the possibility that America would do the worst in November.

The dotard will forget about everybody, his "new found friend" Justin included, and they'll eventually forget about him. Trump is 71 going on 171, and Scheer is 38 going on 83 or 183. Justin is 46 going on 30. If he knows how to steer a canoe through whitewater rapids he can navigate these choppy waters and the tide of the Trumptanic. Papa taught him well.

    1. hi Jackie... I don't think we have to worry about NAFTA in the long run, it will both fix itself and encourage us to reduce our dependency on the U.S. But any sudden move by Trump could still cause hundreds of thousands of families to have their lives turned upside down or shattered, so we need Justin the Trump Whisperer to save the furniture as we say in Quebec, until that dangerous dotard is overthrown...

The NYT reporter did the right thing, by simply letting Trump talk. Questioning him about his statements would have done no good. It would have stopped him in his tracks. If the American people are ever going to "understand" the American president, it is best they know what he actually has to say, un interrupted.

Trump may actually believe the things he says. He may think he is smarter than other people because regardless of what he has done, he has continued to be successful. He continued to make money. He went on to be President, even though many thought he'd make it. the best way to get the American base to see Trump for what he is, is to let him talk, and talk and talk and talk and don't interrupt.

As to NAFTA, unless some one in the Trump administration steps in and keeps things on course, it won't be signed. Trump thinks this is another game of bullshit poker, which he played in his own companies. However, in this case the stakes are higher and the other side isn't interested in giving away the house to get the deal. Canada and Mexico have other options.

When NAFTA isn't renewed, it maybe that European manufacturers move into Mexico. When American corporations didn't invest in Georgia, Germany did. China may see Mexico as a great place to invest given it sits right in the middle of North and South America. No NAFTA, wonder if China will ask Mexico if they can have a naval base on their coast?

Unfortunately we still have 3 years of Trump. No NAFTA now, well in 3 years the Americans may be more than happy to sign an agreement. No NAFTA means a lot of unemployment in 35 American states.

Canada will feel the impact of no NAFTA, but we do have a better safety net than the Americans. We have higher welfare rates and we have a medical system. The federal government sends out monthly cheques for families with children living at the poverty level. The Americans don't have any of that.

We just need to ensure trump doesn't plunge the world into a nuclear war.

    1. hi e.a.f...yes, I think you have exactly the right balance. We need to let Trump ramble on like a maniac to convince more Americans that he is unfit to be President.
While trying to prevent him from plunging the world into a nuclear war. And unless his own bad lifestyle brings him down, it will be a long three years. Although if the Democrats are able to seize control of Congress, that would speed up the process, for that would almost certainly drive Trump off the deep end, and set up a Democratic landslide in 2020. As you can see despite the frigid temperatures I'm in a very sunny mood... :)

Trump is clearly a very sick man. A man who can distort the truth every 75 seconds for half an hour is unfit to run a corner store let alone a nuclear superpower. The stress of Mueller, the bad diet, his age, it's all adding up. Even the corrupt Republican Congress won't be able to deny reality for much longer. Trump is a dead dotard walking.

According to a story in the Hill Times Democrats are heading for landslide victories all over the country. When that sinks in, the Republicans will be only too happy to use Trump's slide into senility to get rid of him.

@anon 3:18 -- Not just distort the truth every 75 seconds, but never so much as finish a sentence while he's doing so. My fellow Americans should have seen that he was grossly inept to run so much as a lemonade stand after this speech last July:

      https://www.snopes.com/donald-trump-sentence/

But as we already saw with Shrub... never "misunderestimate" the power of stupid people in large groups. 30+ years of eviscerating education as a bunch of commie elite snob stuff has worked wonders for the GOP. Tremendous, incredible, the best words. #ThanksReagan.

    3. Hi anon 3:18...I read an interesting piece that said that Trump's greatest achievement was to normalize things that people would never have accepted before. And lying every 75 seconds for half an hour would once have been considered something a con artist might do, but never a President. I think there's some truth to that, and we must not be complacent or risk finding ourselves in some kind of dystopian nightmare. The truth is precious and it must be defended by whatever means necessary....

    4. hi Jackie...yes, you're right, that insane stream of consciousness or gibberish is a warning that something is not right. For it's scary enough at a time when things are quiet, but it would be terrifying to see or hear Trump carrying on like that in the middle of some crisis. I'm still stunned to see his rabid base still stubbornly defending him oblivious to all the bad things he is doing. But reality will catch up to most of them soon, and when it does it won't be pretty...

    5. hi anon 4:56 pm...yes I saw that story, and although I still think it will be an uphill climb, if enough Republican seats fall many GOP members of Congress will start to panic further isolating Trump, and setting up the Democrats for a landslide victory in 2020...

  5. Melania sure looks happy to soon be rid of him... looking forward to attending the Royal Wedding. Wonder if she'll move back to her native Slovenia (a very pretty and pleasant little country) and do consensual good works such as a children's charity while flitting around between nearby Venice, Vienna and the beaches of Croatia and making business contacts...

But unless she can slip something into one of his Diet Cokes, or double the number of them served to him every day, she's still his hostage, along with the rest of us...;)

The image of the POTUS piglet in his high chair sums up for me the horror of Trump. I never thought the U.S. could elect a president as awful as him, and it has shattered my faith in democracy. Thank you Simon for mocking that fake president. Happy New Year !

    1. hi anon...thank you, I'm glad you like pig boy. I think it's missing something so I'm going to keep working on it and trying to capture the "real" Trump. But never lose faith in democracy. It's the best weapon we have to bring down the monster, we just have to learn to use it as a club instead of a feather. Thank you for your kind words and Happy New Year to you and yours !!!

And I'm sure it drives those Cons crazy...or crazier. All the best to you and yours, and may 2018 be your best year ever!!!!
