The CBC's War On The Liberals (Continued)

Yesterday I wrote a post about the CBC's frenzied attempts to try to bring down the Trudeau government, and make the sinister religious fanatic Andrew Scheer Prime Minister.

And how in pursuit of that goal it seems to have sacrificed its principles and its sanity.

And I was pleasantly surprised to see how many people agreed with me and shared my anger.

But sadly it seems the CBC doesn't seem to be getting the message.

For that's what it considers a balanced At Issue panel.

Three Con crows sitting on a clothesline, shitting on the Liberals.

And the problem for the CBC, and other members of our shabby Con media, is that the anger of Canadians is real and rising.

And this will no doubt make them even angrier.

Over the late summer, Canada’s political situation became more competitive, as Liberal Party support dipped, and the Conservatives saw gains. Today, an election would see 39% vote Liberal, 35% Conservative and 15% NDP.

For that boost the Cons have received can mainly be attributed to the relentless assault of our bought media, the nasty little Ottawa gang who managed to turn a story about tax fairness into a massive smear job.

Reaction to the proposed tax changes on individual private corporations have been a drag on Liberal support, both because they animated Conservative Party supporters and because the fairness proposition of the government has failed to generate enthusiasm among Liberal and NDP voters.”

While ignoring the far more important story about how the stealthy right-wing extremist Andrew Scheer is turning the Cons into an alt-right party.

Or the party of religious fanatics...

Now I should point out that the Abacus poll doesn't really threaten Justin Trudeau's still incredible level of support.

“While Liberal Party support is roughly at the level the party earned in the last election, the challenges the government has faced the past month has had an impact on its support. Liberal vote intention is down four nationally and we have seen a sharp drop in the government’s job approval.

Despite this, the Prime Minister remains a popular figure and his personal numbers have not been affected – 48% have a positive impression of him. The numbers confirm he remains a strong asset for his party and the government.

Not when the Con numbers are distorted by their high level of support in Alberta and Saskatchewan, our confederate provinces.

And not when support for the NDP, despite the arrival of their new leader, is not rising it's tanking.

The data also confirms the considerable headwinds the NDP and its new leader, Jagmeet Singh, face. We find no “bounce” in support for the NDP after his win and instead see troubling signs in Quebec (support down 8), tepid support in Ontario (down to 13%) and little growth in BC.

And with people like Nathan Cullen driving support to the Cons instead of his own party no wonder...

For cuddling up to a foul Con like Pierre Poilievre is enough to make most decent Canadians vomit.

And what the polls already make only too clear is that a vote for the NDP is a vote for the Cons.

But as I mentioned earlier, what all of this does is make most Canadians who still support the Trudeau Liberals really angry.

For they hate Trump and his filthy regime...

And they are going to make his Canadian representative, and the Con media who shamelessly kiss his ass, pay for it big time.

I understand plans are underway to boycott Postmedia, until Con stooges like John Ivison are forced to beg for mercy...

And then I suggest we should boycott the CBC, where they are about to launch the "New National."

Which I think we can make look like the launch of the Levant National...

For that's how low the CBC has fallen.

The Con media has betrayed the Canadian people, and disgraced itself.

And now they can follow the Cons into the garbage can of history...

  1. I was once an avid watcher of the At Issue Panel and a fan of CH! Why has she not been on lately? Maybe she saw the signs!
As for Power and Politics, I'm completely "turned off"!
Also, as for Carole M's new position, I have to say she is more aggressive and I'm not impressed!
Rick, Rex and Mark are also showing their true colours......

    1. hi Kathleen...I have no idea what's going on at the CBC, but I can't believe how Con it has become. I'd accuse them of taking their orders from Con headquarters, but I can't be sure it's not just incompetence. Anyone who would let Rex Murphy pose as the editorial voice of the National, can't be playing with a full deck. But one thing is for sure, I believe the CBC belongs to all of us, and whoever has turned the place into a propaganda arm of the Alt-Right Cons, is going to pay for it big time...

Andrew Scheer is a very nice fellow I've met him in person a couple times.

PS If you're going to call him a religious fanatic to try and scare us, you shouldn't have posted an adorable picture of him with an old priest smiling. All that pic was missing is a puppy.

So Andrew Scheer is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being you've ever known in your life, eh? Sounds like he's quite the Levantine Candidate. Instead of popping up like the Microsoft Paperclip and knocking Simon for his choice of clip art on the blog, why don't you do some research? Have a look at his voting record, his platform, and the kind of company he keeps, not to mention what he's turning the once-respectable party of anti-apartheid John Diefenbaker into (singularity with the DJT-GOP, who long ago gave up any pretense of being the party of Abe Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt or Dwight Eisenhower).

Six degrees of Kevin Bacon, or in this case John Lithgow's character in Footloose. "Ban campus protests and 'feminazi' marches, because they might lead to dancing!" Sorry, but any friend or colleague of the odious Ezra Levant, mentor to a Richard Spencer wannabe like Dane Lloyd, or onetime goon of the villainous Stephen Harper, is no friend of Canada and no friend of mine.

    2. hi anon 11:19... Good for you for meeting Scheer not once but twice. I'm sure you didn't wash your hand for a week, or licked it like a lollipop. But I don't find that picture of Scheer and that Cardinal charming at all, because like it or not Scheer is a religious fanatic. He is in politics to advance the interests of his religion rather than advance the interests of the Canadian people. And if you're patient, and try not to sin too much, all will be revealed...

    3. hi anon 4:20 pm...good try, but I'm afraid Scheer's faithful groupie won't be convinced, or dare I say, converted by facts. Cons twist facts to create their own reality. But the truth is if I didn't believe that Scheer is a stealthy religious extremist I wouldn't call him one. He has scrubbed many of his past writings, and his platform mysteriously disappeared the night he was elected. But he can't fool me, and when the time is right I will share what I know with you all...

I agree that the CBC has gone downhill, Simon. I really hate to say it, because I grew up with it and am a long-time fan. I can remember a time when it had civil, thoughtful and intelligent content, but I've been finding it increasingly idiotic and unwatchable (or listenable).

    What a shame.

    1. hi anon...it is a shame, because when I was younger I too was a huge fan. It reflected Canada for me. But unfortunately it's gone downhill thanks to its lousy managers, who would rather go after the fluffy trash they believe is the way to attract more viewers, and have instead alienated some of its most faithful supporters. However, I have no intention of of giving up on that Canadian institution, or surrendering it to the fools. So they can expect to hear from me a lot in the next few years...

    1. hi doconnor...that is true, scandal is an easy way to sell more papers or whatever. But I expect higher standards from the CBC which gets a lot of our tax dollars so it can be different. And as I said in my post, I find their unbalanced political coverage and their pandering to the Cons to be both idiotic and suicidal...

Singh is clueless about the process. He intends to spend the next two years copying Justin's homework for his platform and "getting to know people," instead of running for a seat. He's letting the raging, incoherent brocialists define the image of the party -- and right now, that image is one of useful idiots for the cons, just like the Bernout Sandals cult of Long March of the Mental Institutions wannabe revolutionaries proved an effective spoiler against Hillary Clinton.

When election time finally comes, Singh will get the same reaction as Joe Clark did in 1979: "Jag who?" Nathan Cullen, meanwhile, is just a far less hirsute version of Madman Mulcair. "He's just not ready. No hair, though."

    2. hi rumleyfips...Singh seems like a nice guy, but the problem is he is saddled with people like Cullen, who seem to hate the Liberals more than they do the Cons. It's not good for the country, and it's not good for the NDP...

    3. hi anon 4:28...I agree. I think Jagmeet Singh is making a huge mistake by not running for a seat in parliament. For while he travels the country preaching "love and courage" the bitter NDPers in parliament are preaching hate and collaboration. And that can only end badly...

I saw that At Issue panel last night and it made me feel sick. It was just one Con talking point after the other. The CBC must understand what journalistic balance means, or get out of the opinion business altogether. I and all my family and friends will be boycotting the Conservative Broadcasting Corporation until that happens.

"Andrew Scheer is turning the Cons into an alt-right party."
I'll go a step further Simon, they ARE the alt-right party poorly disguised as the now dead Conservative party.
Of course, if our useless MSM were hounding Scheer about his Rebel ties and his new Kid Nazi MP like they're hounding Morneau it would balance things out but they wont do that. They smell blood and their corporate masters are pulling their strings as one would do with mindless puppets.
A boycott would be a great way to get the word out and along with it, a list of all the sordid activities of the Scheer regime that the MSM continually ignores.

    1. hi JD... Ever since he was a teenager Scheer has operated on the fringes of the right-wing movement, which accounts for why he was so comfortable hanging out with Ezra Levant and his Rebel gang. His creepy smile conceals the ruthless mind of a religious fanatic and right-wing extremist. He has surrounded himself with like minded fanatics, after getting rid of all those who worked for Rona Ambrose. At least those who didn't resign. And the way he imposed Dane Lloyd on Ambrose's supporters tells you all you need to know about him. If the Cons were a decent Canadian party Lloyd would never be an MP. If the Con media better represented the views of most people who live in this country they would be taking close look at Scheer's cult or coven. But if they don't we will, and the Cons and their stooge media will be held to account...

One day sufficient numbers within the electorate might wake up and seek a little more than an emotional connection to their representatives, and maybe on some other day we might elect a government that knows a little more than how to get elected. Until then, there's no place in the process for the likes of Nathan Cullen.

For now, for the sake of balance let's add a few think-tank maggots to the lobbyists on the opinion panels. Find somebody willing to publish their drivel and we can call them all journalists.

    1. hi John...Nathan Cullen was one a promising figure on the political scene. But after he came third in the NDP's 2011 leadership race, he went rapidly downhill. He became bitter and increasingly aggressive, and the results of the last election drove him over the deep end. He now hates the Liberals more than he hates the Cons, he can't seem to understand that Canadians expect the NDP to be better than that, and he is cutting his own leader off at the knees. He really needs to look at himself in the mirror and ask himself what has he become?

If the voting populace likes Justin Trudeau, and almost two thirds think he has the qualities of a great leader (with the iron-fisted fascist Scheer at the bottom), then why are they all wishy-washy about supporting his party? That's like saying Obama is a terrific president, but I don't want him to actually do anything as president, because I want the GOP to control both houses of Congress.

We saw the result of that. He left office with a tremendous approval rating (biglier than Dotard's will ever be), and remains a wildly popular public figure. But his legacy at home has been more or less neutered, if not outright erased, by Republican intransigence and now the Stormfront steamroller of the Trump Kremlin regime.

So, either something is fishy in the hockey swamps of Canada (and clearly the press is in the bag as a wholly owned propaganda outlet of the re-animated zombie vestiges of the Harper Reich), or Canadians are smoking some bad maple leafs to register that kind of cognitive dissonance. My money's on the first option. Polls don't tell the whole story anyway, and the Grits are still holding strong at the same solid numbers as election 2015.

Now that it appears more and more people are going to be switching the channel when CBC News comes on, and Postmedia's tabloids are revealing themselves to be not worth the birdcage liner they're printed on, word of mouth will probably power the next election cycle. Canada has a monarch. They have an incredible head of government who is compassionate, articulate, and so far very capable of snake-charming and Jedi mind-tricking the orange menace to the south. They're not electing a pope who is so far to the right he makes Norman Pence have a squee when Mother is not around.

    3. hi anon 4:11...yes, there is a bit of cognitive dissonance in those poll findings. I think it's simply the way the questions are asked. So for example while people might like Trudeau, if they live in Ontario they might associate the Liberals with the presently very unpopular Ontario Liberals and paint or tar them all with the same brush.
However, as I said in my post, while the Con media has put a dent in the Liberals, their fundamentals remain strong. And Trudeau's popularity and the booming economy are setting the Liberals up for another majority government...

If the CBC's booking Con-heavy panels and running Con talking points, it may be because it reports to a president and CEO who's a Con party donor and a board entirely appointed by Stephen Harper. But the Libs get no sympathy from me when they won't help themselves.

The CBC reports to a 12-member board, which could have 6 Lib appointees but doesn't. There are currently 3 vacancies, so the board sits with 9 directors. In addition, the appointments of 3 directors, including the chairperson, have expired, yet they continue to sit on the board because the Libs haven't bothered replacing them. Finally, the terms of president Hubert Lacroix and one other director expire by the end of this year. If the Libs get their act together, as of January 1, the CBC could have 8 Lib-appointed directors, and be reporting to a president and CEO of Trudeau's choice.

But judging by the lack of urgency in filling director openings, I expect people to be complaining about the Con Broadcasting Corporation for a long time to come. And I'll say then as I do now, blame Trudeau. As much as I hated Harper, he never goofed off on something as important as getting his message out.
