Andrew Scheer and the Con War On Women

From the moment he was named Con leader, Andrew Scheer has been building an inner circle of religious fanatics like this country has never seen before.

Almost half the members of his so-called "shadow government" are social conservatives who are strongly anti-abortion.

And his choice of a candidate to replace Rona Ambrose tells you all you need to know about him.

For Dane Lloyd's misogyny couldn't be clearer or more disgusting.

The Conservatives' pick to run in former MP Rona Ambrose's riding once referred to feminists as 'feminazis' -- something the 26 year old now says he regrets, but doubts will hurt his political chances.

In a Facebook post from 2009 commenting on the Guelph University's then-decision to close its women studies program, Dane Lloyd wrote: "I’ll probably get assassinated by the Feminazi's for saying that cutting this program is a good thing, saves a lot of wasted money on a useless program. Way to go Guelph way to be politically incorrect."

Or more extremist.

In a Facebook post from 2008 regarding abortion rights activist Dr. Henry Morgentaler being named to the Order of Canada, Lloyd said: "If fetus' are parasites in the mothers womb and she has a right to abort them because of their dependence, then you could argue young children could legally be left to die because of their dependence on mothers."

Or more insane.

And the fact that Scheer chose him over a man like Rick Peterson...

Who was one of the most socially moderate Con leadership candidates, and is infinitely more qualified than Lloyd, tells you all you need to know about the party and the so-con conclave Scheer is secretly building.

For his decision to appoint a man like Dane Lloyd can only be seen as a deliberate attempt to destroy the legacy of Rona Ambrose, who had tried to make the Cons more feminist friendly.

And his decision to make Rachael Harder his Status of Women critic, even though she doesn't even believe in a woman's right to control her own body, is more evidence of his contempt for feminists...

And this is simply outrageous.

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer says Justin Trudeau and Liberal MPs are showing “intolerance” for a “strong, competent, dynamic young woman” his party nominated to chair a status of women committee.

“The Liberals are trying to politicize this. I actually find it disgusting that the Liberals would treat a young, female Member of Parliament in this way, and it just shows the intolerance of the Liberal party,” Scheer said on CTV’s Your Morning Friday.

When he is the one who is trying to politicize the situation.

And as Martha Jackman, the Co-Chair of the National Association of Women and the Law points out, Scheer is the one who is showing his intolerance for the rights of women.

In contrast to the majority of Canadians, Scheer believes that life begins at conception and that any attempt to end such life is wrong. Mr. Scheer is entitled to voice his opinion but when he and other anti-choice parliamentarians argue that their religious beliefs or moral values should dictate whether or not all women in Canada have access to abortion, that’s a problem.

Granting legal status to the foetus or recriminalizing abortion services would violate the freedom of conscience rights of those who do not share Scheer and Harder’s religious beliefs or moral values. More significantly, however, the Criminal Code changes demanded by Harder and other anti-abortion MPs, would violate the life, liberty, security of the person of all women in Canada.

Denying access to a health care service that only women require is clear sex discrimination. The failure to grasp this fact showed not only that Harder was unqualified to chair the Status of Women Committee, but that Scheer didn’t care.

Which is just another reason he is unfit to be a Canadian Prime Minister.

Stand up for the rights of women and girls.

Tell Scheer if he doesn't want an abortion he shouldn't have one...

Tell him this is Canada, not Margaret Atwood's theocratic Republic of Gilead...

And make sure this ghastly religious fanatic and his monstrous Cons are defeated.

Before they destroy our country...

  1. If you read Andrew Coyne's column, it appears she is prochoice.

Still feminism=/=women, there is no con war on women.

Coyne is another con hack for the National Compost. Anyone to the left of Robert Dear (the Planned Parenthood shooter in the U.S.) probably counts as pro-choice to him. "No con war on women"? What are you smoking and what reality distortion field did you cultivate it from? The only thing cons have to sell is 1950s "moral-values" B.S. that's all about punishing "loose women" and forcing gays into the closet, into a rubber room or into a "Christian" concentration camp. They can't even win elections on their toxic agenda alone, so they have to resort to political trickery to do so -- whether it's vote-splitting, fake-news agitprop, or gerrymandering-on-steroids as is done in the U.S.A.

But, you're the N.D.P. guy who wants Jag to steal Justin's thunder, right? Even despite knowing that this would thus allow the detestable Scheer to waltz through the parted Red Sea by default. At least Justin didn't put the cart before the horse, and actually put in some time as an M.P. to learn the ropes before launching his bid for Liberal leader. Your guy is hoping to be the starting quarterback in the Super Bowl, who relies on the defense to hold the other team to zero on the scoreboard, and then lobs the ball in a perfect spiral that would make Tom Brady envious for 100 yards in a Hail Mary Pass as the clock runs out. He said he's going to spend the next two years on a "Jagmeet-and-greet" tour across the country even before running for a seat. Caron is "pinch-hitting" for him in Parliament (not to mix sports metaphors, but that's how the press has described it).

And people say J.T. is a disorganized scatterbrain. This guy is like the far-left equivalent of Donald Trump. Another come-from-nowhere "outsider" who wants his orange clown car to go from zero to sixty in a nanosecond, and win the Daytona 500 before even so much as getting his learner's permit.

But keep hoping for miracles and that enough disaffected, emotional voters affected by fake news and "they're all the same" whataboutism end up flocking to Singh, which will end up putting the local milk boy in charge so that he can wage his "nonexistent" con war on women.

The cons are arsonists who attempt to put out their own fires by throwing gasoline on the flames. The Dippers, meanwhile (akin to the Sanders cult in the U.S. which does not have a "third party" to coalesce around), instead of targeting the real enemy, label centrists as "sellouts" and take up oxygen from the wrong side. The left provides the same useful idiots for the ancien régime as they always have.

Yankee, you understand Singh better than every single Canadian I know. A fake and a phoney making promises that sound nice, but that he literally has no jurisdiction over. If you only had connie and dipper snide remarks about JT to go by, you'd have the vain and vapid Jagmeet Singh.

Is Tom done yelling at Justin to get off his lawn? At least even Chief Shouts-at-Clouds is more youthful than Scheer, who is 38 going on 83 and enjoys barking at Justin to keep off the grass :)

    4. hi Gyor...the day I believe anything the Con stooge Andrew Coyne writes is the day hell freezes over. I prefer to get my information straight from the horse's mouth, or in this case the horse's ass. Campaign Life's report card on Rachael Harder.

      https://www.campaignlifecoalition.com/voting-records/view/level/mp/province/ab/id/11953/name/rachael-harder

Do you believe that life begins at conception (fertilization)? Yes

If elected, will you strive to introduce and pass laws to protect unborn children from the time of conception (fertilization) onward? Yes

If elected, would you support all legislative or policy proposals that would result in a meaningful increase of respect and protection for unborn human life? Yes

Are there any circumstances under which you believe a woman should have access to abortion? (note: Medical treatments to save the life of a mother and which result in the UNINTENDED death of her unborn child, are NOT abortions. Eg. in case of tubal pregnancy or cervical cancer) life of the mother

If elected, will you oppose any legislative or regulatory measures designed to permit the deliberate euthanasia of a human being or designed to permit "doctor-assisted suicide"? Yes

Harder is not pro choice, and Coyne doesn't know what he's talking about.

    5. hi anon 2:53... I actually quite like Singh. He has yet to attack Justin Trudeau like the ghastly Mulcair did every five minutes. The NDPers may not like it but I think they just voted for their Justin. Which is great until the moment they split the vote, and crown Scheer prime minister. I might write something about the situation this weekend, if it's too rainy to sail. But I already know what I want to say. Unless progressives unite, as it has in the past, it will once again lead to disaster...

I didn't know there was a wife or any little girls. How many degrees of cousin removed is Missus Scheer? I guess I had him confused with the 50-year-old virgin from Alberta. Same noxious personality, same religious fundamentalism, same... evident self-hating rage and conspicuous phobia of rainbow symbols...

Justin's not perfect, but he's "ahead by a century" as Gord Downie said, when it comes to the cons. For them, the current year is always 1867, but they've kicked MacDonald out for being a left-leaning Red Tory and started agitating against Britain to declare Victoria biologically ineligible to govern the Empire. Whereas Justin has said on numerous occasions that he and Sophie are equal partners (shades of Bill and Hillary's "two for one deal"), that they are raising the two sons to be feminists, and that while he is discouraged by the fact that people say "he's just like his mother" as an insult, he turns that hostile "mama's boy" invective around and says "thank you." Justin I think is a genuinely nice guy. Scheer comes across as a holier-than-thou, misogynist jerk.

Which means neither he nor Singh has any chance in laïcité central of Québec. Singh for obvious reasons of "conspicuous religious symbols," his apparent political daftness and lack of coherent platform notwithstanding. But Scheer is so backwards he makes Duplessis look like freewheeling playboy Pierre. What kind of rocks does Canada find these cartoon villains under anyway? Simon should make a doodle graphic of Scheer tying up a woman on a railroad track like Snidely Whiplash, only to be foiled by Fuddle-Dudley Do-Right riding in on a moose to come rescue her. The Crappers are Republican levels of pathetic. That they register at all in the polling ahead of the Rhino Party and write-ins for Barack Obama, let alone in credible numbers against the Liberals, shows that even Canada still has quite a ways to go.

If the guy is 26 now and the comments were made in 2008 and 2009 he was a teenager at the time. The 2008 comment would have been made when he was a minor.

    1. hi Greenthumb...when you call women or feminists "feminazis" at the age of eighteen you probably feel the same way when you're 26. Besides what about the rejection of Rick Peterson? He was the only candidate in the Con leadership race who almost impressed me. He's a successful businessman and fluently bilingual. Surely no serious person can believe that Dane Lloyd would make a better MP than Peterson. No, the fix was in, and for all the wrong reasons...

@Greenthumb -- our GOP brought up stuff that Obama and Clinton said decades ago as reasons why they were "unqualified" for so much as dogcatcher. Canada's cons have spent years holding a collective séance to contact the dead spirit of Pierre Trudeau in an effort to stick quotes in Justin's mouth from before he was born. Let's see Scheer ask Justin during PMQ what he plans to do about the FLQ. We know already that no matter what country they're in, cons' time machine only goes one way: retrograde motion. It never moves forward.

All's fair in love and war, and politics is a bloodsport that is less rational than ever what with social media soundbites ("soundbytes"?) and the 24/7 media machine accelerating the pace of rabid, tribal polarization into camps that are increasingly shrill and extreme one way or the other. This putz should absolutely be pressed on his views, but I doubt they'll have changed much. He just probably learned to do a better job "massaging the message" as Marshall McLuhan said. Instead of "feminazis," he'd say political correctness or identity politics or some other dog-whistle buzzword du jour.

As for the composition of the party, however, it speaks volumes about their vision for Canada. Sheesh, can the cons get any more vanilla? They make Fox News look like a model U.N.! I think that punk has one of those Proud Boy haircuts too. If Scheer is Harper Jr., then this Lloyd whatsisname looks like he could be Harper the Turd. Bizarro-world mirror-universe alt-right Trudeau. Surprised he doesn't have a goatee, but then, Vulcans are rational and Scheer's party is full of space cadets. They want to boldly go where only smug white men have gone before, and leave the women and minorities at home.

Hey Simon, you should definitely do an article about the Magnitsky Act coming forward in Canada. Putin is P.O.'ed, and even though it passed the House unanimously and was introduced by a con (apparently one of the few things the Crappers and Grits can agree on, at least on paper anyway), Vlad the Impaler wants Freeland's throat. 'Course he goes after a strong and independent woman... whether Scheer admits it or not, it's what right-wingers do...

The interesting twist in the story is that Canada's version also allows them to pursue actions against other corrupt regimes. The press trotted out "Venezuela" as an example, to avoid speaking about the bigly yooge elephant in the room. We know very well that Putin's bimbo lawyer met with Dotard Jr. promising dirt on Hillary. We knew Bob Mueller is working around-the-clock to build his case against Dotard and possibly even other enablers in the G.O.P. While I doubt Canada would ever go so far as to put sanctions on the U.S., the fact that Natasha Badenoff or whatever her name is keeps being brought up has got to give the Tangerine Nightmare and his acolytes cause for concern.

Mister Trudeau is going to Washington next week, ostensibly to talk NAFTA (he's also making a stop in Mexico). But the timing of this visit looks to have a wink-and-nudge subtext. Dotard "likes" Justin only inasmuch as 1) his daughter has a crush on him, 2) Dotard has his eye on Sophie and thinks Justin is just going to roll over and let the "alpha" have his way with her (fat chance), 3) he thinks he can make himself "likeable" and get really yuge ratings by cozying up to the eminently affable Canadian (whether Trudeau wants to or not), and 4) so far, Justin has avoided direct confrontation like other leaders have, preferring instead to go with the Jedi Mind Trick snake-charmer approach out of necessity.

Dotard may "like" Trudeau because he's getting fooled by him, but he nevertheless doesn't take Justin seriously as much more than a kid on the playground he can beat up and take lunch money from and who is too "nice" (or too backed into a corner) to fight back. Make no mistake, however: by no means is Justin a "new found friend" of Dotard's either. Justin's going to say something about trade, hurricane relief, gun control or some other current event he wants to talk over or feels he has to. But if you play the tape backwards, what he's really saying is, "Just watch me." Putin sure is. Dotard himself should be getting nervous too.

After threatening North Korea he's now threatening Iran, and if the generals around him don't put him in a straitjacket soon, I fear for our future...

  10. How did this become about Jagmeet Singh? I didn't bring him up.

I admit had similar concerns about Jagmeet during the leadership race, the, spread in GQ had me worried he was going to be the NDP's own dandy like Trudeau is the Liberals.

Then I learned about Jagmeet's back story and, watched him in action I realized I and you guys were wrong about him.

See Jagmeet doesn't dress so well because he's vain aristocrat like Justin Trudeau, and he didn't learn Bazalizian Jui Justsu to feed his own ego by beating up old FNs men like Trudeau learned boxing.

No Jagmeet had the shit beaten out of him by racists as a kid to the point where he had to go to school in another country. He learned to dress so well and stylish as well as learning to defend himself, to SURVIVE!

He wasn't lucky son of a Prime Minister who had every door opened for him because of his dad, Jagmeet had doors shut in his face because of his race and religion and still faces those who would do the same.

While Trudeau was enjoying a life of wealth and snowboarding, Jagmeet was supporting his family, because his father had gotten sick.

So Jagmeet worked hard to provide for his younger brother, and on top of that when to parent teacher meetings and so on during his 20's while Trudeau was having a blast.

As Jagmeet's record he has been an MPP for the last 6 years, doing important legislation such as autoinsurance, police carding, and international issues, like calling out India over the massacre of Sikhs. Before Trudeau became leader as an MP Trudeau put forward zero bills, and when he became leader he barely attended the House of Commons.

And before being an MPP Singh was a successful defence lawyer doing lots of probono work for those in need.

So no Singh isn't another Justin Trudeau, remember Context is King.

As we saw with Stephen harper, he professed to be a Christian but his actions said so much more, he wasn't. he made life miserable for thousands of Canadians and in the end it was his undoing, as it will be Scheer's.
