Donald Trump and the Road to Armageddon

Almost four years ago Donald Trump tweeted this:

And yesterday he did his best to turn that into a self fulfilling prophesy.

By starting us all down the road to nuclear armageddon.

President Trump threatened on Tuesday to unleash “fire and fury” against North Korea if it endangered the United States, as tensions with the isolated and impoverished nuclear-armed state escalated into perhaps the most serious foreign policy challenge yet of his administration.

Undaunted, North Korea warned several hours later that it was considering a strike that would create “an enveloping fire” around Guam, the western Pacific island where the United States operates a critical Air Force base.

While somehow managing to blur the line between him and the North Korean dictator...

Mr. Trump’s “fire and fury” response echoed the kind of language the North Koreans themselves have used in the past. In the last few years, North Korean officials and the government news agency have repeatedly warned the United States and South Korea against any pre-emptive attack, with “sea of fire” a favorite phrase.

And in the process showing once again why he is unfit to be president...

Supporters suggested that Mr. Trump was trying to get Mr. Kim’s attention in a way that the North Korean leader would understand, while critics expressed concern that the American president could stumble into a war with devastating consequences.

For while no American president could allow a foreign government to threaten his country's territory.

And some in the media are suggesting it's all hot air, blowing out of Trump's rear orifice.

When the Trump threatens a country the question is not “Will he do it?”, but rather “Why is he talking out of his arse?”

Trump wants us to think he is tougher and more menacing than he is. He spent years mocking Obama, claiming the world was laughing at his “weakness”, and is anxious to be seen as a strong president in contrast. But, it is quite likely Trump has not had a normal briefing on Korea and isn’t aware that every military option to deal with their nuclear program has a very high likelihood of failure, according to the Pentagon itself.

I don't find that reassuring.

For it fails to take into account that Trump's popularity is tanking.

He's not happy.

Only 31 percent say Trump’s actions have made them more confident in his ability to serve as president, while a staggering 62 percent say his actions have made them less confident.

A total of 73 percent have low trust in what they hear in official communications from the White House: 30 percent trust nothing at all, and 43 percent trust just some of it, while 19 percent trust most of it and 5 percent trust almost all of it — meaning only 24 percent trust much of what this White House tells them.

And with Robert Mueller and his team closing in on him, nothing could be a more convenient distraction than a war with North Korea...

Even though it could lead to a nuclear exchange with China, and maybe even Russia.

As you know, I always look for the good in everything. And my hope is that this crisis will wake people up about the danger of nuclear war, and the need to elect leaders who can manage that danger responsibly.

But yes, Donald Trump is a maniac, he never should have been elected president.

And he should be removed from office by whatever means necessary.

Before he kills us all...

  1. North Korea released a Canadian convict when asked by Trudeau's emissary. It seem they are saying ' we are reasonable when dealt with reasonably'. This will be lost on Trump, but the rest of the world will notice.

Justin Trudeau really doesn't get a fair shake at home, though he is widely admired elsewhere in the world (and not just for his movie-star good looks but his level head and open heart). Especially in the United States, which is right now being run by inmates escaped from the psikhushka. Petty whining about magazines, socks, his colorful personality, and things he "failed" to do not even two years into office never got anybody anywhere and never will. 0% of politicians, ever, have kept 100% of their promises (or at least not revised them or re-prioritized what it is they're working on at this particular time). But the fact that Trudeau and his associates could probably prevent nuclear war with Pyongyang through the doctrine of Canadian politeness, in my view makes him worthy of the title "leader of the free world." He's at least the deputy leader, if only because Merkel has seniority and Macron is the new kid in town. Or, Trudeau, Merkel and Macron might very well be equals as the modern day Allied Powers. The U.S., like North Korea, is a rogue state. As long as the traitorous GOP is allowed to exist, there will always be that fifth-column threat from within.

Seoul must look at Ottawa and say, "gee, I didn't know there were Westerners who had to deal with a nuclear-capable maniac on the other side of their border too." Only one of whom, as you mentioned, can conceivably be reasoned with, while the other is Donald Trump. That fact alone will likely produce an even deeper working relationship between Trudeau and South Korea's new president, and probably with Xi of China as well. Trudeau will never say so verbatim, because he wants Canada to ride out this storm and maintain at least a civil partnership with their southern neighbor if and when some sanity returns to Washington. But I don't doubt there's an unspoken understanding among Canada and its Asian partners, all of which now share unlikely political "common ground."

    3. hi rumleyfips....yes threatening North Korea will only make them more paranoid. They need to be told that threatening others will get them nowhere. But negotiation is the only way we will escape a nuclear nightmare...

    4. hi anon 4:00 pm...It's a sad thing that so many Canadians hate Justin Trudeau, even though he is widely admired all over the world, and is the kind of leader we need to get us through these troubled times. It's so petty and so pathetic, but unfortunately this deranged hate is fanned by most media outlets in this country whose bosses are almost all Cons. Canada is only a small player on the world stage, but hopefully Justin Trudeau's brand of politics can serve as an example for other leaders. And that all together they can help save the world from the monsters and the maniacs...

Leave North Korea alone! They don't have a Rothchild bank that's why they're on the hit list just like Libya and Syria were.

    1. hi anon...unfortunately it's too late to ignore North Korea, even though threatening them only makes them more paranoid and dangerous. We need to confront their fears if we are going to be able to finally bring peace to the Korean peninsula...

Trump, in his childish way has stood up to his bad hair day equal by saying to him "Oh yeah!"
The fate of millions of people now rest in the hands of these deranged children.
Let us pray that their regimes force a time out on them and saner heads prevail.

    1. hi JD...the thought that the fate of the world is in the hands of two crazed child leaders like Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un is a scary thought. And yes, let us hope that the adults prevail for they are our only hope...

Certainly looked like a kid with a new toy when he threatened Kim Jong with fire and fury but later couldn't help lying about how his "first order as president was to renovate and modernize our nuclear arsenal. It is now far stronger and more powerful than ever before.". This from a man who can't even get a fence built in 200 days.
All good dictators want their subjects to live in fear of the external tyrants so they can rob and control them. Kim needs more fear as his people will have to pony up more and accept less because of the new sanctions. Trump has certainly helped Kim ramp up the fear but then again he has used it on his own people so why not spread it around, it comes so easy and seems to work so well.

    1. hi RT....yes wasn't that pathetic? Claiming that thanks to him, and after only six months, the U.S. nuclear arsenal is now stronger than ever before. Which although it just another big lie, can only make the North Koreans even more paranoid. The fear campaigns of both big mouth leaders need to be replaced with serious negotiations or they will end in disaster for all of us...
