Breaking: Now Ezra Levant Claims He's Being Blackmailed!!
Golly, you might think that the ghastly bigot Ezra Levant could not have a worse day.
But if you did you'd be wrong.
For not only has his filthy Rebel been roundly condemned for promoting white supremacy at that neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville.
Not only has a shipping line cancelled his Rebel cruise.
Not only have some of his scurvy crew started jumping off his sinking Rebel. With this freak being the latest one.
But now a former employee, a British right-winger named Caolan Robertson, is claiming Levant offered him "hush money."
And Levant is claiming he's being blackmailed !!
Something else happened to me, for the first time in my life. And I don’t really know how to say it, other than to just say it. And I can’t believe it, but here goes. I’m being blackmailed. I’m being extorted.
I’ve always known the rule that if you’re ever being blackmailed, don't pay. I mean, even if you think you can pay a blackmailer, they’ll just ask for more a second time. But you’re scared. So you pay. I thought I could make the problem go away, so I actually paid. And then I paid again. But then they threatened again. Last night actually. So I haven’t slept.
Now I obviously have no idea who is telling the truth, and I have the same amount of respect for Robertson as I have for Levant. i.e. none.
For both are shabby anti-Muslim bigots. So they both could be lying.
But Levant is old enough to know what he's doing, and unless my ears deceived me, he did use the word "hush money," which is weird.
And if it's true that he sued someone just to try to get him to commit suicide, he needs to have his head examined.
So I can't help asking the same questions this Rebel reader does:
Ezra, the record is still not straight. Exactly why you would even consider paying these criminals one penny is totally unclear. You say you were afraid. Of what? All you need to do was take the offensive, report them to the police, sue them in civil court, and put your version of events out. You’re a smart guy so exactly why you decided to pay, and pay again and again is a mystery. Only people who have something to hide pay.
And if more of those Rebel readers wonder where their hate dollars are going, it really could be the Bonfire of the Rebel.
So whoopee and bring your own popcorn !!!!!
Oh well, there are rumours that the Canada Revenue Agency is planning to audit The Rebel.
And if I was them I'd start TOMORROW.
In the meantime I'll keep my fingers crossed.
And keep hoping that the ghastly professional bigot Levant, ends up in the place where I've always believed he belongs...
It's so refreshing seeing the walls come tumbling down around Ezra as his once faithful cohorts are feeding him to the lions.
ReplyDeleteThe truth is a bitch Ezra, and it's coming to get you!
JD
hi JD...I can't describe how much I'm enjoying Levant's problems. Words fail me. I have been really bothered by the way so many who should know better have tried to normalize that bigot bully. So I'm glad to see that he is getting his just desserts. The Rebel has been poisoning our country for too long and I'd like to see it demolished...
DeleteI am fucking enjoying this.
ReplyDeletehi anon...don't feel guilty, I am too. I try to conceal my glee, but it's all I can do to not dance down the street. Encore, encore, I want more... ;)
DeleteRough Week for the right in Alberta.
ReplyDeleteEzra in trouble.
Fiscal firebrand Derek Fildebrandt, MLA, aspiring United Conservative Party leader and ex Canadian Taxpayer Federation Alberta chief, caught taking liberties with his taxpayer funded condo, meal expenses and allegedly being in a hit and run.
He has left the country for a vacation while things cool down.
The #fildepockets scandal is a great tale of schadenfreude filled with irony.
Deletehi hinofan...yes it has been a rough week for the right wing in Alberta, and I'm enjoying that spectacle too. Fildebrandt is such an obnoxious asshole, I'm glad to see him being taken down a peg or two, or three. And of course the fact that he was once the head of Alberta's Canadian Taxpayer's Federation is
Deletethe cherry on the cake. Shame, shame, resign, resign...
Oh the Fildenbrandt thing has been so funny. Its just what we need for the Cons in Alberta. it will also give some more information regarding just how friendly some of those Cons were with the Rebel. It will make for nice work come any elections in that province. Alberta just isn't as white as it used to be and perhaps some of the Cons didn't remember that.
DeleteAlthough the next election cycle is still a few years away, the potential loss of the Rebel is certainly bad news for the Con sponsored election hackers. "News" sites like the Rebel play a key role in legitimizing the cannon fodder that the hackers use to create a social media hurricane and swamp the opposition. Without Canadian "news" sources to reference the whole targeted social media storm looses credibility.
ReplyDeleteRT
hi RT...yes, even if The Rebel doesn't disappear, this scandal will lessen its impact on the next election. And since Scheer isn't able to condemn it as forcefully as he should, it will also hurt the Cons in that way. I for one intend to keep linking Levant and Scheer all the way to the next election....
DeleteI agree with you Simon, Levant's story doesn't seem to make sense. If he was blackmailed why didn't he go to the police? And what didn't he want others to know?
ReplyDeletehi anon...I don't think any serious person can read Levant's blackmail story without getting the feeling that it doesn't add up. Why did he go to such trouble and spend so much money if he doesn't have something to hide?
Deletesaw an article on the subject at Dawg's blog so knowing how much you have to say about Rebel I though I'd check. Upp, you've got your article up. Poor Rebel media, poor cons. ah, such is life. too bad oh so glad! I'd rather have cheese cake to watch this show. I think we're all going to enjoy it.
ReplyDeletewas just reading on HuffPost that 300 advertisers at Rebel pulled their advertising in the past few months. WHAT I'D LIKE TO KNOW IS WHY THEY WERE ADVERTISIGN AND SUPPORTING A RACIST RAG LIKE THAT. its wasn't as if these companies where just small obscure organization. the list includes major Canadian corporations. Guess racism, Nazis in Canada are bigger business than we knew.
ReplyDeleteThe Rebel’s sympathetic coverage of the movement’s racist provocateurs and their conspiracy theories led many of its best-known contributors to quit this week, including co-founder Brian Lilley and National Post contributors Barbara Kay and John Robson. On Thursday, Vice Media co-founder Gavin McInnes also reportedly departed.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how fast things are falling apart over at the Rebel. But he still has supporters who refuse to believe the reality of the situation. And Ezra knows his audience which is why he's claiming blackmail now. I knew he would play the victim card and his supporters are dumb enough to believe it. Reminds of those televangelists who get caught stealing the money or playing with hookers, they don't want to believe it but they'll keep sending the money, even if its to another conman.
ReplyDeletehi e.a.f... yes I read Dawg's post and it reminded me that the guy Levant sued, the former blogger Canadian Cynic, should benefit greatly from Levant revealing that he wanted to try to drive him to suicide. What a swine. And yes, good question. Why did so many advertisers support The Rebel for so long? They too should hang their heads in shame...
