One More Reason Donald Trump Must Go

When I ran this picture the other day I thought there was something strange about it.

And it wasn't just that the U.S. media had been ordered out of the room. Or that it was the day after Trump had fired James Comey.

I just thought the Russian foreign minister and the Russian ambassador seemed to be having too much of a good time, while Donald Trump looked slightly confused.

And now that I know what was going on, it's even worse than I had imagined.

For it seems that Trump had just given the Russians some highly classified intelligence.

President Trump boasted about highly classified intelligence in a meeting with the Russian foreign minister and ambassador last week, providing details that could expose the source of the information and the manner in which it was collected, a current and a former American government official said Monday.

A Middle Eastern ally that closely guards its own secrets provided the information, which was considered so sensitive that American officials did not share it widely within the United States government or pass it on to other allies.

And while Trump has the right to declassify intelligence reports, burning a big source in the war against ISIS is either criminally irresponsible or treason. So now even top Republicans are criticizing their president.

“To compromise a source is something that you just don’t do, and that’s why we keep the information that we get from intelligence sources so close as to prevent that from happening,” Senator Bob Corker, Republican of Tennessee and the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, told reporters at the Capitol.

“The White House has got to do something soon to bring itself under control and in order,” Mr. Corker told reporters, adding, “It’s got to happen.”

And as Jennifer Rubin points out, for Trump the timing couldn't be worse, and the story more of a bombshell.

It is not clear whether this was accidental or a deliberate attempt to aid Russia. However, in one fell swoop he has told allies he is untrustworthy, thereby impairing intelligence-sharing that is critical to our national security. He has also dumped a bucket of fuel on the fire with regard to the Russia investigation, suggesting he has some affinity or at the very least blind spot with regard to Russia.

Because whether he's a traitor, or just an absolute idiot, and a hilarious hypocrite...

The leak is bound to make Trump act even crazier...

And raise even more questions about his fitness to remain in office.

Plainly there are those in the administration who think Trump imperils our security. We should thank these patriots, but also move to investigate and, if need be, remove the man who proves over and over again to be compromised or unfit or both.

Because here's the kicker: if the story is true, and Trump tries to deny it, the Russians will have him at their mercy for as long as he is president...

And of course, he'll have us at his mercy, while he looks for a war to try to change the subject.

As Thomas Wright of the Brookings Institute says, it is the sum of all fears:

For the past few months, we have heard that Trump is normalizing. It is nonsense. There are some sensible people around him working around the clock to avert catastrophe but ultimately he is in charge and he will do what he wants, no matter how mad.” He adds, “We are blind and dancing on the precipice.”

So whether Trump is a traitor, or a clown, or both...

He is unfit to be president of the United States.

And must be removed from office, by whatever means necessary.

For his safety, and ours.

As soon as is humanly possible...

  1. I doubt that Trump is deliberately a traitor, he just is totally out of his league. He would not have the slightest conception of the importance of whatever he told Lavrov et co.It probably made him feel important to be able to pass on interesting “insider” facts.

I remember thinking this before the meeting with Lavrov and Kislyak. He is so far out of his depth it is ridiculous. Lavrov, per wiki, has 40+ years of diplomatic experience around the world and has held very senior positions before becoming foreign minister. He reportedly speaks four languages including English which gives him an advantage in dealing with the White House since there is no need for translators.Presumably Lavrov has a highly experienced staff behind him and he probably is not currently at war with the FSB.

Trump has no government or international experience, with the possible exception of international money laundering, hardly speaks English, has very little knowledge of world affairs, the attention span of a gnat and a need to look important.

Trump has a staff that is totally inexperienced. And stupid enough to allow a Russian TASS photographer to take pictures while completely excluding the US press.

Essentially we have a clown running an insane asylum up against the Russian first team in the Premier League.

Well yes, we need him out ASAP.

I heard a news report yesterday that the US ambassador to the UN was saying that Kim Jong-un was becoming increasingly paranoid. Well, probably true but with Trump saying the US would have to take out North Korea, sending a carrier group (after a bit of confusion) towards Korea and so on I am not surprised. If your big bully neighbour says he's going to kick in the door and beat you to death, there may be a reason to be paranoid. (See Saddam Hussein)

Trump is so erratic that no one, internationally, can figure out what he's doing--not that he knows from day-to-day either. At the moment, policy, using the term very loosely, is probably set by a combination of Fox News, whoever he talked to five minutes ago, and what Steven Colbert has said about him in the last 24 hours,

    1. hi jrkrideau...yes, I think you're probably right. Trump is thrashing around in the deep end of the pool, and he doesn't know what he's doing. His ignorance is appalling, he believes the last thing he's told, he's making it up as he goes along. And his obvious desire to rule like some Banana republic dictator is the absolute limit. He must be evicted from office before sets the world on fire....

  2. It looks as if the Russian Ambassador and Foreign Minister are making jokes in Russian about Trump's scant intellect and massive ego. Trump looks as if he is going to keel over with a massive heart attack or stroke at any moment.

Lavrov is of Armenian origin, by the way, which explains his deep olive complexion.

    1. hi lagatta....when you think that he's actually trying to impress those Russians with a scrap of intelligence somebody gave him, it's simply pathetic. He is so unfit to be president its absolutely frightening. But I remain hopeful that he will defeat himself....

  5. Since the Russians know, why not tell the American people exactly what was leaked? I am guessing it was a mole hill. Something about Jordan and the US planning to annex Syria territory to build the long sought Qtar to tidewater pipeline.

Meanwhile the person Wikileaks indicates leaked is still dead.

Steve? I read the article. Mainly from Fox. Criminals abound.
Ever heard of "Murdoch Monsterism"? Similar to Cohn's Bullyism. I could go on and on but you get my drift.
Conspiracy theories, in my humble estimation, advance nothing. Unless you're Alex Jones, Newsmax, etc., whereby you can unleash a whole lot of pain on people. Remember the Murdoch Trials?
As someone so eloquently said on my TV the other day-
      "Follow the dead Russians"...
I'm not quite sure what your general point is- that Hildog is running a thuggish crime family syndicate? The Dems are?
      Or what?

    2. hi Steve...you mean this fake story?

      Shame on you...

    3. Clinton News Network spin. Its possible it was just a coincidence. As I have said below, if he has thousands of emails to wikileaks on his laptop is that not news.

Its amazing that people hold up the NYT and CNN as the truth and Fox as spin, when if fact they both spin 24/7.

Trump's vision for America seems to be Moscow on the Potomac where two "smart" despotic leaders control most of the white Caucasian world. This is closely followed by the RCon vision where perpetual war is the patriotic glue that binds everything together and makes loss of personal freedom and diversity worthwhile. Perhaps the game has gone on for so long that the outcome is inevitable but then again there is always hope that as people reject bits and pieces of the doctrine they will coalesce around a new vision (updated American dream) and leadership. Unlikely perfect but light years ahead of the current destination.

    1. hi RT...are you believer in the Theory of Chaos? I too like to think that the upheaval Trump has caused will jolt progressives into getting their act together, and start laying down the foundations of a better world. The only problem is finding the time to accomplish that before Trump blows us all up, deliberately or by mistake... ;)
