The Day Donald Trump Declared War on the World
I must admit I thought that warnings like that one would ensure that every progressive in America would walk or crawl to the polls, in order to stop Donald Trump from setting fire to the world.
But sadly I was wrong. Many progressives didn't bother to vote. Others wasted their votes on third parties, or fought each other instead of the real enemy.
So the monstrous orange oaf was elected president.
And now he's declaring war on one country after the other.
He's threatening to invade Mexico.
“You have a bunch of bad hombres down there,” Trump told Pena Nieto, according to the excerpt given to AP. “You aren’t doing enough to stop them. I think your military is scared. Our military isn’t, so I just might send them down to take care of it.”
He's trying to humiliate its president AND the Prime Minister of Australia.
It should have been one of the most congenial calls for the new commander in chief — a conversation with the leader of Australia, one of America’s staunchest allies, at the end of a triumphant week.
Instead, President Trump blasted Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull over a refugee agreement and boasted about the magnitude of his electoral college win, according to senior U.S. officials briefed on the Saturday exchange. Then, 25 minutes into what was expected to be an hour-long call, Trump abruptly ended it.
While National Security Adviser Michael Flynn is threatening to attack Iran.
National Security Adviser Michael Flynn said Wednesday that President Donald Trump’s administration is “officially putting Iran on notice,” and senior administration officials later refused to rule out military action against the Islamic Republic.
Which is a problem because Trump has called the Iran nuclear deal the "worst deal ever."
And Flynn, who is as deranged as his Great Leader, blames Iran for almost EVERYTHING...
“The Obama Administration failed to respond adequately to Tehran’s malign actions — including weapons transfers, support for terrorism, and other violations of international norms,” Flynn said.
When he wasn't spreading fake news about Hillary Clinton cooking and eating children, Flynn spent months trying to prove that Iran was responsible for the attack in Benghazi, Libya, that killed the American ambassador.
It wasn't.
And to make matters worse, as I've pointed out before, Trump's defence secretary James "Mad Dog" Mattis has also been holding an unproven grudge against Iran for more than thirty years.
And he's the one who is supposed to restrain Trump.
And if that wasn't bad enough or scary enough, now we find out that Steve Bannon, the boozy alt-right thug and Trump's closest adviser, believes the U.S. will soon be involved in another major war in the Middle East.
And that war with China is inevitable.
The United States and China will fight a war within the next 10 years over islands in the South China Sea, and “there’s no doubt about that”. At the same time, the US will be in another “major” war in the Middle East.
“You have an expansionist Islam and you have an expansionist China. Right? They are motivated. They’re arrogant. They’re on the march. And they think the Judeo-Christian west is on the retreat,” Bannon said during a February 2016 radio show.
And really what more can one say? Except that never before in human history have a band of crazed fanatics had the power to destroy the world.
And of course, why did so many progressives fail to do enough to stop Trump?
Did they really think he was less of war monger than Hillary Clinton?
And do they finally understand this? The time for partisan games is over.
The Nazis are in the White House.
And only mass resistance can save us now...
So you think Hillary wouldn't have gone to war with Iran? Or Russia? Or China? Or some hapless Middle Eastern or African nation? Don't be naive, Simon.
ReplyDeleteThe American war machine has been in almost continuous action since the nation's founding. No modern American president has failed to start a foreign war, and there's no reason whatsoever to suspect Hillary would have broken with this traditional presidential right of passage. In fact, quite the opposite. Hillary was always as hawkish as anyone in the GOP.
Hi anon....don't be absurd. The American war machine has caused great damage to the world, but Trump is threatening to take it o a new level. If you can't see the writing on the wall you must be blind or out of your mind or just another mindless Trumpanzee...
DeleteWhatever you say, Simon. When Hillary was appointed SOS, the neocon rag Weekly Standard celebrated "The Great Right Hope" and called her the “Warrior Queen, more Margaret Thatcher than Gloria Steinem.” Robert Kagan, co-founder of the neocon Project for the New American Century, raised $25,000 for Clinton from neocons who weren't enthusiastic about Trump.
DeleteHillary shares direct responsibility for Dubya's Iraq folly, having voted for it as senator. As SOS, she was the mastermind behind the criminal attack on Gaddafi's Libya, and the overthrow of the Ukrainian government by neo-Nazis. She was uncompromising in her support of Israeli atrocities in Palestine, and aggressively pursued the Asian Pivot strategy meant to subvert Chinese economic and military power.
Voters were faced with main-party choices featuring Hillary's proven record of warmongering and Trump's deranged rhetoric. And yet months after the election, you're still banging on about people who "wasted their votes on third parties, or fought each other instead of the real enemy." Get a grip man. You won't defeat Trump by pissing on allies who couldn't bring themselves to support either warhawk.
hi anon 11:50... well the Nazi rag Der Trumper celebrated Trump's victory by proclaiming him "The Great Pepe" and the new Goering. And anyone who thinks that Hillary Clinton is crazier than Trump must be as crazy as he is or on crystal meth. The people who voted for Trump with always be known as traitors and idiots, and hopefully when the tyrant is deposed will be punished accordingly...
Delete'The people who voted for Trump with always be known as traitors and idiots, and hopefully when the tyrant is deposed will be punished accordingly...'
DeleteWow, just wow. You are really losing it now.....
and in local news
ReplyDeleteTrudeau joins the ranks of Benedict Arnold and Quisling
by failing on his "electoral reform" promise to the Canadian people.
The question now becomes which conservative will become Trump north as the core essence of the liberal electoral platform disappears.
Just another opportunistic liar who dangled real democracy and then ripped the dream of a voice for all voters away.
mtn
Core essence? OK dude.
DeleteHi anon... Are you on drugs or crazy or just senile? What sabotaged plans for electoral reform in this mandate was the NDP/Con plan to hold a referendum. This country needs a bitter divisive referendum on a complex subject like electoral reform at a time when Trump is threatening hundreds of thousands of Canadian jobs like it needs a hole in the head. I should also point out that a referendum would almost certainly have reinforced the status quo. And after spending $400 million on such a fruitless exercise would have killed the idea of electoral reform for a generation. As it is the idea remains alive so you can thank Trudeau for that...
DeleteTrudeau lied too people like you Simon. You got played, completely played. Is pride that keeps you from seeing this?
DeleteNow your blaming the other parties for the lies of the Liberals.
Wow, P.T Barnum was right.
Nothing sabotaged the electoral reform except Justine and crew. Every party has called for it at some time over the last twenty years. Skip the referendum.
DeleteIf he had half the balls of Trump he would say
"I campaigned on this and won; so I'm doing it."
Just keep his word ...it's simple really with a majority.
mtn
hi anon 9:26....Don't be ridiculous Justin Trudeau didn't lie to anyone. He said there was no consensus for electoral reform, which is just a polite way of saying that nobody gives a damn. And you've got it all wrong, as I've made clear in many posts I was totally opposed to the idea of a referendum, so I couldn't be happier...
Deletehi mtn... don't delude yourself. The electoral reform process was sabotaged by the Cons and the NDP. If they hadn't taken advantage of Justin Trudeau's decency and insisted on a divisive and incredibly expensive referendum, it might still be alive. But of course it's not really dead. Trudeau could easily revive it in his second or third mandate. If the Cons and the NDP are still around...
DeleteThe ndp and cons are a tag team. The ndp help them win and the cons destroy the economy and social programs and the dippers get to sit back and self-righteously scream. I'll never forget these motherfuckers pulling down Paul Martin and killing national day care. I'll never forget Jack Layton's cynically 2011 campaign where he bald face lied about the fact that he was dying.
DeleteYou've been ranting for months about the need for PR to stop those 'evil cons' from ever taking power again.
DeleteNow that change isn't happening and you couldn't be happier? Maybe you need to reread your older post where you were so sure Trudeau was going to change the electoral system.
Trudeau said he would and now he won't. He lied, pure and simple.
Simon, diplomacy is war without explosions. Trump is telling truth, taking names. The world is not some fairy tale. The US has always been the wolf in the sheep clothes. Now Trump is all wolf. Its a good thing in the long run.
ReplyDeleteHi Steve....I struggle to understand why you still support a racist and sexual predator like Trump. But this latest explanation also makes no sense.. The last thing we need in this world is a wolf in sheep's clothing or not. Are you happy that Trump is trying to crush the dreams of Palestinians, or his plans to torch the planet? Your guy is both crazy and dangerous....
Delete"And only mass resistance can save us now..."
ReplyDeleteLike the resistance against Milo at Berkeley last night? The tolerant left burning everything down, blocking traffic, pepper spraying Trump supporters, attacking people with flag poles, throwing bricks at police officers etc?
-MC
I don't condone what they did, however, when they allow the likes of Hitler jr. to spread his words of hate and intolerance under the guise of free speech then you have a recipe for disaster.
DeleteThat's the same type of message that pushed one of your far right fucktard trolls to kill 6 innocent people in their place of worship last sunday night.
Where's your outrage over that?!!!!
JD
Primarily the Middle to Left persuasion use peaceful resistance to achieve their goals but sometimes it degrades into physical acts of the type you describe. Pretty tame compared to the very extreme right that use the murder of innocent people to make their point. Sure you can find no end of rhetoric on Brietbart,Abovetopsecret,Natural news if you want innuendo but the news I watch actually has shown dead people murdered by right wing terrorists. Lets all hope the extreme right are contained and that the left don't start murdering people because then its civil war ... no winners just the Asians if they can stay out of the conflict.
DeleteRT
Hi MC....no I don't encourage people to break windows and start fires. But your darling Milo is a disgusting bigot and free speech does not mean hate speech. So I do encourage protesters to make their feelings known as loudly as possible, and do what they can to make sure he doesn't get a free ride. But as you saw during the women's March, mass resistance can be both powerful and peaceful....
DeleteBlack Bloc are douche canoes, but never in history has Black Bloc pushed a candidate for President that will probably kill at least hundreds of millions.
DeleteHow much you want to bet that trump was openly hostile to Turnbull because he was briefed that he was leader of the Liberal Party without realizing that they are a centre-right party, though Turnbull himself is more of a squishy centrist?
ReplyDeleteHi anon...I wouldn't be surprised if the orange oaf saw the world "Liberal" like a bull sees a red rag. He is a beat and a bully, and with every day that passes he only shows more people all over the world why he is unfit to be president....
ReplyDeleteSo far he has threatened to "invade" Mexico and Chicago. Is he getting confused. His administration is threatening Iran, which is totally funny. They threaten and Iran does another missile test. Usually I wouldn't agree with that sort of testing, but this time, I'm o.k. with it. Trump doesn't get to tell Iran what to do in terms of self defense, because they are in a hostile part of the world and they have the right to ensure their defenses are in good working order. its just funny to hear the Americans "issue their edicts" and have Iran go about its business. But Bannon and Trump need a bad guy and they've chosen Iran when there are so many other "worthy" candidates.
ReplyDeleteIran doesn't have a great track record on Human rights but then neither does Russia, China, central America, North Korea, some of eastern Europe, Egypt, Turkey, etc. So why pick on Iran. At least they're working to convert to solar so they can't be all bad.
