I hesitate to write another post about Donald Trump's so-called Golden Shower or Peegate scandal, for several good reasons.
One, it's so disgusting once was enough.
Two, it sounds too good to be true.
And three, and most importantly, I don't want to distract attention away from the fascist kleptocracy Trump is preparing to unleash on our neighbours, and the rest of the world.
But how can I ignore that shocking story when it's all over the American networks?
Trevor Noah is taking the piss out of Trump, so to speak. Stephen Colbert did a segment on it the other night where he called it an unfortunate leak, but a golden opportunity.
And now it's Samantha Bee's turn...
As for me, I'm not sure what to think about that shocking story.
As I said on Twitter, I'm conflicted...
Gawd. I know the Golden Shower story could be a hoax, but why do I find it so plausible? https://t.co/bidpP04bTA #TheResistance pic.twitter.com/cJYZU0MlNO— Simon (@montrealsimon) January 13, 2017
But since it's making some of Trump's supporters REALLY upset, including the deplorable Nazis who want him to make America white again...
And it's apparently driving the Angry
It's a conflict I can live with eh?
And besides, if Trump likes to sit on a golden throne...
Why wouldn't he like a golden shower?
And if this fake news or not scandal, will help flush him down the toilet of history.
So much the better...
Far be it from me to defend an oik like Trump but ethical journalism is too important. Heard a journalism prof who didn't like him either but was horrified by the publication by Buzzfeed of an unsubstantiated rumour.
ReplyDeleteWe have to be harder on the media. Watched on CBC the coverage of Trudeau's meetings with the public. All the journalists were hysterically raving about his Xmas vacation and not one citizen at the meetings brought it up. They were focussed on more important things. I've figure lately the media is completely out of touch and now I know it's true.
was horrified by the publication by Buzzfeed of an unsubstantiated rumour.
DeleteI may have the sequence of events out of kilter but I thought that the dossier had already been presented to the FBI/CIA or whatever and used in briefings and in leaked rumours. If so I would praise Buzzfeed for releasing to the public the dreck that was circulating clandestinely in intellegence/gov't circles for some months
I'd give them a Whistle-blower award for good citizenship.
All the journalists were hysterically raving about his Xmas vacation and not one citizen at the meetings brought it up I thought that too. The helicopter ride is essentially meaningless but reporters no longer seem to be able to focus on anything of substance.
Heaven help us if Trudeau rides in Thereas May or François Hollande's limo at a conference.
hi anon... I understand how journalism professors might react to an unsubstantiated report, but I tend to agree with jrkrideau. The allegations were presented to Trump, and since they were in an official report, the public should have the right to see what they are.
DeleteBut yes, the media fixation on the Trudeau vacation story is absurd, and I'll have more to say about that in my next post....
Thank you for comic relief. Unfortunately, it is likely based on some facts.
ReplyDeleteThe following is an interesting article on how regardless of whether the briefing on Trump is true, Putin has won :(
TS
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/jan/12/fictional-or-not-the-trump-dossier-affair-is-another-win-for-putin?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
hi TS...well you know me, I can find something amusing in just about anything. And I intend to mock the would be dictators of this world until the day I die. As to whether Putin has won, I think that remains to be seen. He may think he won by helping to defeat Clinton, but at least he knew where she was coming from. Now he's dealing with a madman. And the damage to U.S.-Russia relations thanks to Trump may be bigger than he imagined....
DeleteThis is a deep state coup by the CIA to flush trump and present us with President Pence. Now both the CIA and Mike Pence are both foul beyond words, but given the choice between nuclear winter worst case scenario and disgusting trump/Euro Nazi/Putin alliance best case scenario, I will take the fundamentalist creep and the devious spooks any day of the week.
ReplyDeletehi anon...I've heard that rumour, and I have no doubt that many in the CIA and many Republicans would like to see that happen. And although Pence is a notorious religious fanatic, and a homophobe, I earnestly pray that happens. For at least he is reasonably stable, while Trump is a madman who could very well lead us to a nuclear winter....
DeleteThat's exactly it: Trump is such a vile pig (all due apologies to actual pigs) that it's just plausible enough to be worth discussion. There was a great Tweet I saw that read "Who would have thought it would come to kink-shaming the President in 2017?" Couldn't have said it better. I mean, it would have been nice if his sexual harassment, massive corruption, obvious mob ties and odious personality would have swayed the American electorate and the political press to drop him like a sack of potatoes, but I'll take watersports if that works.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I will relish once he takes the oath of office is how merciless social media will be to him once he's in power. Live by perception, die by perception, and if the perception of a "short-fingered vulgarian" from a single writer 30 years ago is enough to get under his skin, imagine how being the "Pee-OTUS" is going to dog him for the next four years.
hi anon...I'm just tired of seeing the left turn up to a knife fight carrying only a spoon. So I would take this scandal whether it's fake or not, and use it to discredit Trump as much as possible. And you're right, when a man is as thin skinned as Trump, social media should do its best to drive him absolutely crazy....
DeleteDON'T HESITATE! This is the first really funny thing that has happened since Trump has been elected. On one level it isn't funny, because, hey the guy is going to be President, on the other hand, ya, he is going to be President and comedians have never had so much material to work with.
ReplyDeleteAs they used to say, once the public starts to laugh AT a politican, they are finished.
After watching Stephen Corbett I fell asleep blissfully laughing.
I love your "cartoons" on the subject, the great orange one has become the great yellow one.
When I first thought of Trump being elected it gave me ulcer pains. Now I just laugh and laugh. It will help us get through the tough times because of this man.
As one commenter on an American blog wrote, he couldn't forgive the 65 million who voted for Trump because voted to take health care away from his young son. Trump and the rest of the Republicans are busy dismantling the ACA. In effect they are pissing on the health of at least 20 million Americans, so lets at least have a good laugh at Trump's expense regarding the "golden showers". What goes around comes around.
Some are debating whether its "fake" news or not, but that so many of us would believe it to be true, saying a lot about Trump's image. Now would we have believed this if they said it about another world leader?
hi ea.f....I'm glad you liked the photoshop creations I made for this post, because I must say I rather liked them myself. Especially the one about the toilet, because that's where Trump has taken us. And of course I love the story, because it could drive the Angry Yellow off the deep end, before some real world crisis does that, and he kills us all...
DeletePeeresident elect Donald J. Trump's latest scandal doesn't conflict me at all Simon. If he has a pee fetish, then it's just another perversion to add to the biggest perversion of all, how he got to be president.
ReplyDeleteWhether his penchant for pee leads to his undoing, well that remains to be seen. Video of the now infamous "Spritz at the Ritz" coming out the day before his inauguration would certainly piss him off wouldn't it? Anyone else on this earth I would feel sorry for, for Donald J Trump, not one iota.
JD
hi JD...as I said in my post, I have no idea whether this story is true. But considering the way Trump treats women I find it disturbingly plausible. And it's not the fetish that disturbs me, it's why he would, according to the story, choose that bed. And all I can say is somebody please keep him out of the Lincoln bedroom... ;)
Deletespeaking of inauguration, Lawyers, Guns, and Money blog is reporting Trump is insisting the General in charge of the Washington D.C. National Guard be fired when he takes over. So the general who has been in charge of security and organizing the inauguration and the addition of 5,000 extra military people will be gone at 12:01 when Trump takes over. This is going to be very entertaining or not.
ReplyDeleteDoes Trump want him gone, like all other Obama appointees? Some are asking Does he want some one in charge who will go "Kent State" on protesters, which the current General wouldn't; Does Trump want him gone because he is black? the questions do go on. It might be the first of a lot of problems on Inauguration day,. who knows, perhaps Trump wants Putin to take over the job.
Won't miss this show. Its going to be a gong show. You fire the General mid day who is supposed to be protecting everyone. Now that truly shows how stupid Trump is.
hi e.a.f... yes, I saw that National Guard story, and it is strange that Trump would fire that general on the day when he was scheduled to preside over a massive security operation. It probably is just spite, and the same thing he did when he ordered all the ambassadors to resign, even though that might mean that many embassies won't have an ambassador for many weeks and even months. But Trump is so crazy one never knows why, or what he might do next....
DeleteDuring a 1999 interview Trump was asked if he would run for president. His response was "People want me to run for president all the time... I don't like it. Can you imagine how controversial I'd be? You think about Bill Clinton and the women. How about me and the women. Can you imagine?" So what changed why did he decide?
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion part of the reason is the result of long protracted legal hassles with the various government agencies over his foot loose business dealings and associated court battles. First the government agencies pissed him off and more importantly he discovered that he could hold his own and often beat the US legal system. Twisted facts, destruction of documents subject to discovery orders, counter suits, delay tactics all part of a long drawn out winning strategy. Once his ego discovered he was smarter than the best the US legal system could muster ... the rest became history. So far he is right, the establishment has NO Balls when confronted face to face ..no tax forms, no divestment of businesses, no problem with scandals the list goes on.
Given time it is likely the establishment would be able to find enough ball donors to bring him to heel but the one power the president has is to seize emergency control when the nation is in immediate danger. The man plays to win.. its more important than anything else..what are the odds? Will he have to play the ace or will the mighty discover that balls are an extremely rare commodity and elect to roll over and bow before the golden messiah.
RT
hi RT...I remember that interview vividly, and along with so many other things it should have helped defeat him. But as you point out it got lost in the crazy din, and a man with no morals prevailed in the end. I like to think that some of those around him will be able to rein him in. But I can't be confident about that, and I truly fear where Trump may lead us....
DeleteIs Canada Ready for Donald Trump?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.cbc.ca/radio/thehouse/is-canada-ready-for-donald-trump-1.3930474
ReplyDeletehttp://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2017/01/13/the-kinkiest-world-leaders.html
Is Canada ready for TrumP? Good question. I'm sure there are enough sex trade workers who would pee for him. How it will impact the auto sector and forestry is another question and I've got a feeling it won't go well. Many want to reassure themselves 35 American States do a lot of business with Canada. On the other hand Trump, when asked if he was going to release his tax returns responded, I won. He won't be because he won and he may decide he doesn't care about those states who do business with Canada, he won. there is not much those states can do now that he is in office. He may decide to implent whatever he wants and can to simply do what he wants. He doesn't understand much about international trade or foreign policy etc. So it may come to pass that he does what he said he would and piss off a lot of other countries, including Canada.
ReplyDeleteOne in five jobs are dependent upon exports to the USA. Trump isn't going to care about unemployment in Canada and I suspect Trudeau knows it. that is why McCallum is going to China. to insure we have a trading partner, not matter how odious it is. We might be better off looking to G.B. as it exits from the E.U.
by implementing high tariffs on lumber exports, those who own American lumber companies, are going to do very well and the cost of lumber will be driven up. Canada will be only able to export logs to China and that won't work well for B.C. Its a major industry. Although the Queen of Photo ops keeps talking LNG and oil, its not a happening thing here. I compare it like this, Americans have Trump; B.C. has Christy Clark. They're both very bad for citizen workers and great for the 1%ers.
KARAOKE MACHINE BACKS OUT OF PERFORMING AT INAUGURATION

So from tomorrow All Depends on Trump's mouth.
ReplyDeleteI hope you know that Depend is a diaper brand, and that Rosie told Trump is a big a__hole, so we should put All Depends on Trump's Mouth
