I never thought that Melania Trump would appear in public again, after she was caught in flagrante delicto plagiarizing Michelle Obama at the Republican convention.
But Donald Trump is desperate to try to win back some of the hordes of Republican women who have fled his clutches, so he forced her to make another campaign speech.
And sadly for Trump, and poor Melania, it also bombed.
She was as wooden or as robotic as ever. She had trouble keeping up with the autocue.
And her vow to lead the charge against cyberbullying if she becomes first lady couldn't have been more absurd.
When she is married to a bully like Donald Trump.
Melania Trump says she is worried about the children.
“Our culture has gotten too mean and too rough — especially to children and teenagers,” Trump said. “We have to find a better way to talk to each other, to disagree with each other, to respect each other."
It couldn't be more outrageous.
Or more laughable.
If Melania Trump wants to combat cyber bullying on social media, she should start by changing the password to her husband’s Twitter account.— Sean Simons (@seanrsimons) November 3, 2016

And best of all, it couldn't be more ironic or self defeating.
The biggest irony of them all was that Melania’s call to protect the children from ugly and mean language is straight out of Hillary Clinton’s strategy against Trump. It’s the message Michelle Obama had on the Democratic National Convention stage, and it’s the subject of multiple striking Clinton attack ads against Trump.
Melania is concerned about cyberbullying, about a culture that has gotten “too mean and rough.” So is Clinton — and it also happens to be her most successful argument against Trump.
For it will almost certainly end up helping Clinton, by reinforcing messages like this one...
Donald Trump is bad for kids, bad for EVERYONE.
Now, I understand it's not easy to be the leathery old orange's wife.
After all here he is feeding his second wife Marla Maples, like an animal.
Anybody who's made eye contact with a smug frat boy who just dipped his genitals into an unsuspecting partygoer's drink knows this look: It says, "There's pretty much nothing I can't get away with, and you can bet your ass I've tested that theory."
As only he could.
And Melania may be a nice person for all I know, whose only character flaw is being married to Trump.
But it's a big flaw.
So I can only imagine how Trump must have reacted to Melania's speech as he watched it on his gold plated plane...
Or imagine how Melania must be reacting to the sound of all that laughter....
As it slowly sinks in that she has been humiliated. Again.
But then neither she, nor him, nor anybody, will ever change the main lesson of this hellish campaign.
For at this stage the message couldn't be clearer:
Donald Trump is a foul and depraved bully, who is morally unfit to be president.
And must be defeated in the name of human decency.
And the children of America...
if anything, her speech hurst Trump and the republicans. Talk of Russia, borders, and immigrants along with her thick accent doesn't do anything for him. Imagine if the Dems went after him... the trophy wife turned spy?

hi TS...I can't imagine how Melania's speech helped Donald Trump. It was so robotic, so Stepford wife, it was far less effective than her speech at the convention. Which if you remember was well received, until it was discovered she had plagiarized Michelle Obama. And to be quite honest, and this might be cruel, but I can never look at Melania without thinking of an expensive hooker...
DeleteMelania Trump has lived in the US for 20 years. Why does she still have a think Yugoslavian accent?
ReplyDeleteMelania's speech takes IRONY to a whole new level. LOL !
ReplyDeletehi David...I honestly can't believe that her handlers didn't see the irony. But then they're not known for being subtle, and they do think we're all fools....
Delete... so these are the desperate measures...
ReplyDeletein the end, the pedophile, the rapist and misogynist, the big man sends his wife.
