Ezra Levant's Pathetic Plea To Justin Trudeau
No media personality in this country has attacked Justin Trudeau as viciously as has Ezra Levant.
He has called him a terrorist, he has attacked his family in the lowest possible way.
During Trudeau's fight with Patrick Brazeau he got so carried away, he practically came in his pants wondering whether Justin would be removed in an ambulance or a hearse.
And his ghastly Rebel has run one death threat after another aimed at him in its grotesque comment section.
So this desperate plea couldn't be more pathetic
Or more outrageous.
Ezra Levant is hoping Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will go to bat for his conservative online publication The Rebel, after he says it was barred from a United Nations climate conference.
“I know Justin Trudeau doesn’t agree with The Rebel. I know that. But he should stand up for Canadian values like freedom of the press at the UN.”
And neither Justin nor anyone in his government should do anything to help him.
Not because of what Levant has said about the prime minister. That is freedom of speech, even if it is of the lowest order.
And not because he is a rabid climate change denier, and a slobbering tool of Big Oil.
But because the U.N.'s Nicholas Nuttall is right:
"We had never heard of Rebel Media before but we looked at their website and, to be honest, they seemed to be in the bracket of being something of a one person band, espousing an individual's view of the world, rather than being a serious media operation," Nuttall said in an email.
"Some of the headlines seemed to verge on extremism as well."
The Rebel is nothing but a right-wing extremist hate mongering site.
The Rebel didn’t have the organizational strength to cover the UN’s Paris climate conference last year, but now we’re bigger, and we’ve done some foreign reporting, so we thought: Let’s do it this year, and go to the UN climate conference in Marrakech.
We would crowdfund plane tickets and hotel rooms and send Sheila Gunn Reid, our Alberta bureau chief, plus a producer and cameraman.
And Sheila Gunn Reid is not a journalist by any stretch of the imagination...
Just a scummy right wing fanatic and a ghastly bigot.
Shortly after, fellow Rebel personality Sheila Gunn Reid took to her YouTube soapbox to tar-and-feather Quest, denouncing him as a Liberal and even taunting the former MLA for losing to a "gender-queer Colombian immigrant" during the last election.
Levant has admitted in a court deposition that he's not a journalist either. Just an "entertainer."
And every time he goes abroad and pretends to be one...
He disgraces himself, and embarrasses his country.
Justin Trudeau shouldn't lift a finger to help that monstrous bigot.
Just strengthen the hate laws in this country, so that in the name of human decency.
We can finally put Levant in the place where belongs...
He will embarrass us big time if he goes over there. He will shoot off his big mouth and make Canadians look like ignorant fools.
ReplyDeletehi anon...yes he will, I can just see them shouting questions at the delegates from behind police lines, causing a scandal, and making some wonder whether Canada has really changed. It really is a freak show and the less the world sees of that freak show the better...
DeleteI pay 8 or 9 bucks a month to subscribe to the rebel, I wonder how many would pay to read this blog if it was behind a paywall. Oh ya, no one.
ReplyDeleteWhy not just take your 8-9 bucks and light it on fire?
DeleteYou have too much money.
I don't agree with them on everything but they cover stories the CBC and other MSM wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole because it's not politically correct. There is definitely an appetite for conservative news. The Rebel Youtube has over 340k subscribers while our billion dollar taxpayer funded CBC which has been around forever has only 230k subscribers.
DeleteHowever I like to get both sides of the story that's why I read this progressive blog too. As long as it's free. ;)
The difference between Simon and Ezra irreLevant is that Simon does this as a duty to his country, free of charge, whereas Levant is a lowlife, parasitic scumbag who promotes hatred at every opportunity and people are dumb enough to pay for it.
DeleteJD
I once lit a cigar with a dollar bill.
DeleteIt left me with better taste.
Have a nice day, Mr. 12:23
a
You guys aren't much better than the cons who comment on The Rebel videos. Minus the death threats of course, I'll give you that.
Deletehi anon 12:23...well it's your money, so you are free to do with it what you wish. But as for me I'm not interested in money. I have turned down every request to run ads on this site, and I have never asked anyone for a penny. But of course, after your crude comment I'm going to have to charge you a nickel for every visit... ;)
DeleteYour attempt to compare YouTube subscriptions is invalid. The CBC is on our televisions and radio 24/7,their website contains news and videos, they also employ various social media tools like YouTube/Twitter/Facebook, etc. Due to their influence and reach, they don't need to have a million YouTube subscribers to prove their dominance whereas the Rebel must grasp at anything to bring attention to themselves, like this U.N. thing and the access to the Alberta legislature issue a few months ago. They aren't journalists, they represent the alt-right movement which is essentially a white nationalist movement representing hateful views. They attract the worst of the worst, a cursory look at their comments section provides ample proof of that with talk of insurrection, civil war, assassination of politicians, deportment of anyone who is not lily white and Christian. But you keep feeding Ezra and his ilk your monthly subscription fee plus all the other handouts he asks for regularly, just so you can be fed your right wing conspiracy pablum. When he hooked up with Breitbart and especially Infowars (the lizard people are ruling the world!), that Ezra "jumped the shark" so to speak and lost any credibility he might have had.
DeleteI don't think the word "journalist" means what Levant and his band of deplorables at Rebel think it means.
ReplyDeletehi anon...no I don't think they understand what that word means, and none of the Rebel gang remotely resemble journalists. Levant is just a Con artist and the rest of them are just his faithful stooges...
DeleteYes, great idea Simon. Let's make it even easier to gaol people for their words and ideas. What could possibly go wrong?
ReplyDeleteGaol people?
DeleteIs hate an idea?
Rebel as a publication has no redeeming qualities and therefore serves no legitimate purpose. That is unless, you believe raising money for Levant is a legitimate purpose.
Yes, he did say that: "Just strengthen the hate laws in this country, so that in the name of human decency.
DeleteWe can finally put Levant in the place where belongs..." (followed by graphic of Levant behind bars)
Whether the Rebel serves a legitimate purpose or not, that is for the reading public to decide, not the police or some bureaucrat. And when will the hate laws be strong enough for your liking anway? I'm guessing never...
hi Evil Brad...no let me be clear. I am not suggesting that people be charged for simply expressing ideas that I don't agree with. But there is a difference between free speech and hate speech. It's OK to attack people for what they do or say, but what isn't OK is to attack people for who they are, and that's what Levant and his gang do all the time.
DeleteAnd I should add that in Britain, from where we draw our democratic traditions, their anti-hate laws would jail or fine people like Levant, and I don't see Britain being accused of being a totalitarian country....
Not everyone shares your touching faith in police or bureaucrats to make that fine distinction. Nor will the distinction always be as cut and dried as you appear to imagine.
DeleteEvery exercise of state power carries with it the certainty of abuse sooner or later. I'd prefer to live in a country that errs on the side of not putting people behind bars, rather than the reverse.
I can't stand Ezra, but I do like Lauren Southern.
ReplyDeleteUmm, why?
DeleteShe's more of a libertarian, she's the darling of the right, like a younger way hotter Canadian Anne Coulter.
DeleteI'm hoping Ezra will announce he is a candidate for leader of the Con Party, with his "Make Canada Great Again" campaign. Then win the nomination at their convention.
ReplyDeleteWhat could be better?
hi David...well now that Kenney has left, I think that's a great idea. If Kellie Leitch and Brad Trust, and Chris Alexander can stand up for our Conadian values so can Lezra...
DeleteIt is all rather ironic -- Ezra then - "Trudeau is a shiny pony." Ezra now - "Oh wait, help me, help me, help me." Pathetic. And he'll massage this entire charade to suit his own purposes in the end. Ain't fooling no one, Ez.
ReplyDeletehi Way Way Up...yes it is a charade, and from what I see yet another way for Levant to milk money out of his dumb supporters. Because believe it or not, Sheila Gunn Reid is now asking for donations so she doesn't have to sleep in a car in Paris. Talk about a classy journalistic operation... ;)
DeleteOh poor Sheila....I slept in a truck for 2 days after fleeing a huge-ass fire. But poor Sheila, the poor little snowflake
DeleteEzrat and his ilk used to make my blood boil. Now I see them as blackflies. They are annoying as hell but would we be right to wipe them off the face of the earth. Its healthy to have someone poking power in the eye. It would be a sign of strength to give him the credidentials. It seems he has 340,000 followers and that is a significant if demented voice. You are for free speech or you are not.
ReplyDeleteBlackflies are annoying but useful - Levant not so much.
DeleteHi Steve...I'm sorry to keep repeating, but there is a difference between free speech and hate speech. Levant and his ghastly Rebel gang don't attack people for what they say or do, they attack people for who they are, and that makes them a hate site. The Rebel should be closed down, and Levant should be jailed...
