I must admit I'm not quite sure how this zombie horror show is going to end.
But I'm pretty sure that the final episode of this nightmare season is going to be one of the scariest nights of our lives.
Because forget the new season of The Walking Dead, this is terrifying.
Not because I don't believe Hillary Clinton will beat Donald Trump.
But because I fear that a close result could lead to catastrophe.
With the monstrous demagogue inflaming his rabid supporters into a feverish frenzy by claiming that the election had been rigged. For how else could he lose?
And some of his extremely dumb, but heavily armed, and definitely dangerous supporters, trying to start a revolution, and drive the first female president out of the White House.
“People are going to march on the capitols,” said Mr. Halbrook, who works at a call center. “They’re going to do whatever needs to be done to get her out of office, because she does not belong there.”
“If push comes to shove,” he added, and Mrs. Clinton “has to go by any means necessary, it will be done.”
Which could lead to an explosion of right-wing terrorist violence, and couldn't be more disturbing, or more ironic.
Trump and his alt-right goons have demonized Hillary Clinton to such a degree that many of his supporters are now shaking in their boots and soiling themselves, at the thought that she could win.
“I’d go home and cry for four years,” said Ken Herrmann, 69, of Punta Gorda, Fla.
Kathy Maney, 61, a hairstylist from Fletcher, N.C., used the language of love lost. “I won’t feel hatred or mad or anything like that, but my heart will be broken,” she said.
Unless of course they cancel the election...
For that dangerous demagogue just can't stop putting dangerous ideas into the heads of his
And of course if the race is really tightening, we'll have to start worrying that Trump could actually win. You know pull off a Brexit.
And you know how that ended...
God dammit. Without Vine how am I meant to sum up Brexit in 6 seconds. https://t.co/DFGOOIemax— Neil Slorance (@neilslorance) October 27, 2016
Except that a Trump victory and the law of unintended consequences could bring down America.
And the good news?
The more the race appears to be tightening, the more Democrats will be motivated to vote.
For the complacent are also a threat.
One of the biggest challenges facing the Democratic ticket is complacency: if progressive and center-left voters assume Clinton has the race wrapped up, they may stay home or support an uncompetitive third-party candidate, assuming the Democratic nominee is going to win anyway.
As the race tightens a bit, those voters should realize that a Clinton victory is not a foregone conclusion, and while Trump is an underdog, it’s plausible to imagine a scenario in which he continues to close the gap in the race’s final days.
In other words, the more race “tightens,” the more it reminds the American electorate that this thing isn’t over, and the possibility of a Trump presidency remains real.
And this latest ad is aimed them.
And its message couldn't be clearer.
Go vote. End this nightmare.
Crush Trump's Zombie Revolution.
And send the orange manic to the place where he rightfully belongs...
Well, the thought of Hilary Clinton becoming president scares me badly however the thought of Donald Trump becoming president is even scarier. It's a bit like a Roman election with the choice between Caligula and Nero.
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it, Roman 'elections' were often decided by a discrete dagger or two.
I really don't care all that much what the USians do to themselves internally but foreign policies are another matter.
Trump does not have a real foreign policy, well other than building a wall but his military advisers are a nasty bunch and he appears to be a totally self-absorbed loose cannon so he could do just about anything.
Clinton seems to have a foreign policy that Nixon or Bush the lesser would have considered pretty close to insane.
Have a look at https://theintercept.com/2016/10/26/at-hillary-clintons-favorite-think-tank-a-doubling-down-on-anti-iran-pro-saudi-policy/. If this is an accurate depiction of the Center for American Progress's thinking it tends to confirm my suspicions that Clinton (and unfortunately her advisers) think it is 1966 not 2016.
hi wrk...yes you're right it is an uncomfortable choice. But Hillary Clinton is more qualified to be president, she has been and will be kept honest by Bernie Sanders and his army. While Trump not only doesn't know what he is doing, he will be surrounded by some of the most dangerous right-wingers and religious fanatics in America. And let's not forget that Trump believes that global warming is a hoax, and for that alone he must be defeated...
DeleteMy only issues with Warren and Sanders are that they never really pushed her on foreign policy or developed a foreign policy of their own. I wish Bernie had gone after the no fly zone plan, by far the biggest and scariest issue with Clinton.
DeleteThat said, trump could just wake up one morning and be upset that he has a microscopic penis and send a nuke. Those tiny hands on the nuclear codes must never ever happen.
Cheer up Simon! Take courage from the tale of crofter Michael Forbes who said "Nae" to Trump's bullying and in the process captured the Glenfiddich "Top Scot" Award of 2012. Offered £450,000 for his land and a salary of £50,000 per year for an unspecified job, Forbes told Trump, "He can take his money and shove it up his arse." In a few more weeks, Americans will do the same.
ReplyDeletehi anon...I'm very proud of the way Scotland has treated Trump. Thank you for letting me know that Michael Forbes was honoured with the Glenfiddich Award. I can't wait to tell my father, who likes Glenfiddich a lot. ;) And yes, let's hope sanity prevails, and that the Americans also tell Trump to shove it....
DeleteThe reason the founding fathers gave Americans the right to bear arms is because they knew a revolution was inevitable one day. A well armed militia would be necessary to overthrow the oppressive corrupt government. If Trump loses or the election is rigged it will be time to take matters into their own hands.
ReplyDeletehi anon...I don't know why the right always forgets that the left is also armed. We won the Second World defeating your right-wing Nazis. And since the good guys also have, the American army on their side. I say go for it and make our day....
DeleteNot all of trump's supporters are dump. Many have simply reached the end of the line, see no hope for improvement in their lives and see voting for him not just as a chance for change but to fxxxf over those who deserted them.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion Trump does have a screw or two loose but some Americans are desperate. Politicians have not been paying attention to working class voters and this is what can happen
Armed revolt? Doubtful, too many police, national guard, military. Sporadic attacks perhaps but that is about it
' too many police, national guard, military'
DeleteBut is their loyalty assured? They aren't robots after all......
but some Americans are desperate.
DeleteThen perhaps they should do something reasonable about it instead of supporting a crooked Bozo the Clown?
Oh & I agree, e.a.f, they are desperate after having been lied to, cheated, robbed and discarded. I'd be really pissed too.
Clinton is not a great alternative and the Democratic Party has clearly abandoned those same Americans though without the same level of gleeful malevolence.
The US Greens look like a good bet compared to the Republicans or the Democrats.
Looks like the FBI is reopening their case against Clinton, 11 days away from the election. It's so severe, the FBI had to act immediately. There's no doodle or comic you can make that's going to save her now Simon. :P
ReplyDeleteA not surprising twist in the 11th hour (days) of this dark comedy masquerading as an election. Guess there were only so many options, terrorism, gun violence,or a ghost from the past rides into town. Fortunately the latter usually takes time to build suspense and play out so in THE END Hillary could win the election and face impeachment shortly afterwards. Truth is stranger than fiction.
DeletePerhaps somewhere in a parallel universe Bernie is the new president,Hillary is a member of Truthfulness Anonymous, and Trump is in a psychiatric ward as the result of being raped by a Nasty woman. Unfortunately this is not our universe and there is still a lot of work to do in order to improve the story line.

DeleteKeep working on that plot, we may have a publisher for you.
hi anon 5:35...yes I see how the FBI is trying to help Trump, and how your deranged leader now says the election isn't so rigged. But it will have no real effect on the election result. Trump has been tarred as a sexual predator, and nothing can save him now....
Deletehi RT...yes, it is a dangerous situation, and it's clear that even when Clinton wins she will be fought tooth and nail by the tea baggers, when they're not busy fighting themselves. So no matter who wins it's almost sure America will lose. But what better time for Bernie's Revolution? That's what sustains me in these troubled times...
