Donald Trump and the Revolt of the Trumplings

Now it really is looking like the final scene in a horror movie. With the monster Donald Trump cornered and increasingly desperate.

Most decent Americans now consider him a sleazy sexual predator. Fewer people are attending his rallies. His polls are collapsing.

And he's never sounded crazier, or more dangerous.

Or more like a caveman...

Because now he's not just attacking Hillary Clinton, and the Republican leadership, and beating himself on the head.

He's threatening the integrity of the electoral system.

Republican leaders and election officials from both parties on Sunday sought to combat claims by Donald J. Trump that the election is rigged against him, amid signs that Mr. Trump’s contention is eroding confidence in the vote and setting off talk of rebellion among his supporters.

He's convinced most of his fanatical supporters that the election will be rigged.

According to an Associated Press poll last month, only one-third of Republicans said they had a great deal of confidence their votes would be counted fairly. And election officials are worried that Mr. Trump’s continued pressing of the issue could dampen turnout or cause his supporters to deny the legitimacy of the results if he loses.

And some of them are now calling for an insurrection.

In Wisconsin, David A. Clarke Jr., the sheriff of Milwaukee County, posted on Twitter on Saturday that it was “pitchforks and torches time,” along with a photograph of an angry mob wielding weapons. Mr. Clarke addressed the Republican National Convention in July and appears regularly on television as a Trump campaign surrogate.

Calling for the Trumplings to revolt.

Or calling for a bloodbath.

And instead of trying to calm his deranged and violent followers, Trump is trying to use this arson attack to inflame them further.

Even though there is no evidence that the Democrats had anything to do with that attack.

And like I do, even Breitbart the alt-right news site wonders about those swastikas...

Because to me they look like skinhead scrawlings, and I can't help wondering whether the arsonists will turn out to be neo-nazis, trying to stage their own little Reichstag fire.

And trigger a civil war.

Or set their own country ablaze to pleasure their crazed leader...

Who if he must lose, to a woman, would take us all down with him.

And oh yes, if you wondered where Trump gets his paranoid conspiracy theories from, they come from his favourite talk show host, the crazed wingnut Alex Jones.

Which is of course yet another reason that dangerous demagogue is unfit to be president.

And the good news?

As Charles Blow writes,  Trump has proven himself to be, without the shadow of a doubt, the worst of America.

Trump is in fact the logical extension of toxic masculinity and ambient misogyny. He is the logical extension of rampant racism. He is the logical extension of wealth worship. He is the logical extension of pervasive anti-intellectualism. Trump is the logical extension of the worst of America.

Trump is fundamentally altering American politics — coarsening them, corrupting them, cratering them. And America, particularly conservative America, has only itself to blame. Republicans sowed intolerance and in its shadow, Trump sprang up like toxic fungi.

And with just three weeks to go before this election horror movie is over, I'm now pretty sure the final scene will look something like this...

With both the monster, and the Republican Party who created him, going up in flames.

Throw another log on the fire, throw another bigot on the barbie, listen to the wingnuts wail. I can feel their pain and I'm enjoying it immensely.

Fate has handed decent Americans a once in a lifetime chance to cripple the right-wing conspiracy.

And they should seize it with both hands...

First of all, David A. Clarke Jr. should be relieved of his duties, permanently. Secondly, on election day, security needs to increase tenfold at all polling stations, bring in the national guard if need be. The only way Trump can win is by stopping the votes against him by any means necessary. He'll keep stirring up the lunatic fringe right up to voting day and these whack-jobs will need to be dealt with swiftly and forcibly.
When the dust settles and if lives are lost, then Trump should be held to account for creating this monstrosity, and a fitting end will be him behind bars for a very long time.

    1. hi JD...the number of Trump supporters making death threats against Hillary Clinton is absolutely appalling. And Clarke's call to arms borders on treason. I watched his speech to the Republican convention, and the man looked and sounded like a fascist or a maniac. Trump is just looking for an excuse to explain away his looming defeat, but his words are criminally irresponsible, and if something horrible happens he should be held to account...

It's truly exasperating that he can get away his displays of such vacuous thinking. Wanting to change the system isn't necessarily a bad thing in and of itself BUT it's abundantly clear his supporters have failed to clearly think through the consequences of what he advocates.

    1. hi Way Way Up...I'm all for changing the system, and I believe in the revolution Bernie Sanders started and hopefully his young army will continue. But Trump only wants to change the system to help him and his billionaire friends, anyone who thinks he is on the side of ordinary working people is seriously deluded. And since he thinks only of himself, Trump doesn't care about the consequences of his actions...

Trump's supporters are not violent and crazy. The far left is way more screwed up. Your Black Lives Matter riots, loots, blocks roads, incites people to murder law enforcement. Trump supporters have been attacked with violence, don't see any Hillary supporters being attacked.

The MSM with it's Trump is RAYYYCIST HES HITLER HES GOING TO MURDER MEXICANS AND MUSLIMS rhetoric has got your team frothing at the mouth Simon. Ever hear of Antifa? Your left wing thugs violently attack anyone who goes against their point of view.

A matter of fact if Trump does win, the Left is going to lose it's shit so bad, there WILL be riots in the street, not the other way around.

How often has Hillary or a Democrat politician called for insurrection? Trump is calling for rebellion with no evidence supporting his case. Emotions are not evidence, neither is a talk show host evidence unless he can back up what he says. Rather than calling for civil war, Trump should be calling for a Public Commission investigating Electoral improprieties whether he wins or loses.
As far as Hillary supporters being attacked, I do not know, but if you mean activists and protestors being attacked, there are lots of videos floating around of these people being attacked outside Trump rallies, and inside the buildings.
Your last point, there may be riots in the street if Trump wins, could be true, but they have not been encouraged by the Democrat party nor it's candidate, unlike what is being encouraged by the Republican candidate. ~GS

    1. hi anon...I may write one soon. I have read some of the material Wikileaks has put out, but I need to do some more research. What I will say though is that so far I haven't found much. Or nothing that I didn't know before. Hillary Clinton may be a flawed candidate, but the Wikileaks material is, so far at least, no October surprise...

Wouldn't be surprised if the election is rigged, look at how they screwed over Bernie in the Primary.

    2. hi anon 11:39...look I'm a very strong Bernie supporter, and I was disgusted by the bias shown by some of the members of the Democratic establishment. But Clinton beat Sanders fair and square. And Bernie is now out there doing his best to help her campaign...

  6. Wow, some of your commenters real nut-jobs. First of all, anyone who thinks the MSM has done a hatchet job on Trump really hasn't been paying attention. For months and months the MSM continually gave Trump the soft-shoe treatment, letting him get away with lie after lie, never asking the hard questions. They continue to give him this treatment on everything but his sexual abuse issues. His problems don't lie in the media, they lie in the fact that he is a sexual predator who keep his hands to himself or shut his mouth. The other funny thing is what Mr. Anonymous said about the "left" in America. This is no left in America. There is a rightwing and an ultra-rightwing. Go to almost every other country in the world with the exception perhaps of the UK for the past 25 years or so and there is an actual left. Anyone who thinks the Democratic Party is "left" knows little about politics and nothing about international socioeconomics. "Left-wing thugs" What kind of a malformed, misinformed mind comes up with that stuff? It's the Trump supporters who are showing up to rallies armed. It is the Trump supporters who are calling for the repeal of the 19th Amendment. It is the Trump supporters who are openly talking about intimidating voters. It is the Trump supporters who are actually calling for violence openly. And yet, somehow, it is all the fault of "leftwing thugs." Now we know how fascism really happened.

    1. I say as someone who doesn't like Trump and is glad he's losing, I've watched the video and looked into the accusations against them, and its all BS, there is no evidence he sexual assaulted anyone, one accusation has a witness that he didn't do it, another accuser was getting favours from him after the alleged incident, another retracted her rape and allegation and said her exhusband put her up to it, and having watched the video video who never said he sexually assaulted women, and it was clear they were joking around, Billy Bush, Ariana, Trump, how the media is twisting what was said is sicking.

I wanted Trump to lose, horrible tax policy, rotten choice in VP, rotten allies, saying rotten things about Mexicans, ect..., plus honestly he's annoying braggart.

Not like this, not with a twisting of his words and the context, not with all the false allegations against him that don't stand up to scrunity. I seen alot of dirty things in my time, I thought I'd seen politics as dirty and dishonest and ruthless as it gets in the West, but I was wrong.

Rape accuations against Trump (perfectly timed to discract from the email scandal), rape accusations against Bill Clinton, Tax Evasion, Domestic Assault Allegations against Hillary, Sadia Arabia and Qatar invovled in funding terrorists, and so much more. Lies, accusations, confusion, and corruption on all sides.

This elections is sickening, everyone invovled is sickening, both sides are sickening, the third parties are out to lunch, not that in practice they have a shot at winning this election, America is a broken light switch with 2 off positions.

    2. hi Kirby...you're right know we know how fascism can happen. I can understand and sympathize to a degree with the Trump supporters who genuinely believe that the monstrous demagogue will help working people and bring back lost jobs. But the fact is Trump is no Messiah, he's a corrupt billionaire, a sexual predator who treats women like dirt, and much of his movement is fuelled by racism and xenophobia.
As I tell the Trump supporters who comment here, they should not let their fanatic support for that Con artist blind them to the ugly reality...

    3. hi Gyor...I agree with you that this election campaign is sickening, the worst one I have ever seen. And I'm not going to put Trump on trial for the allegations against him. But he has clearly demonstrated his contempt of women, he is threatening to appoint Supreme Court justices who would roll back women's rights. And since women make up 53% of the American population none of that can be dismissed lightly. I too wish that the campaign had been conducted on a higher level, and had focused more on global warming which is the greatest threat we face, or Trump's plans to eliminate the minus wage, and give billionaires even bigger tax breaks. But what can we do? He dragged us all into the gutter and that is where we must fight him...

      Delete
    4. Which accusations are you talking about Gyor? There is ample evidence against Trump for many, many things he has been accused of. If you are talking specifically about the sexual assault accusations, I say this: If a guy brags about sexually assaulting women and nine women say he sexually assaulted them, that is pretty damning evidence in its own right. To me, the only people who doubt it are misogynists, and the litmus test is simple. If I guy bragged about holding up liquor stores and nine clerks at liquor stores said - "Hey yeah, he did hold up my liquor store," few, if any, would doubt that he was a criminal. I could see that one or two of those clerks might have "jumped on a bandwagon" so to speak, but let's face it it pretty much means he's robbed liquor stores. It is similar to Bill Cosby - lots of people talked about his sexual misdeeds, he was sued several times for those misdeeds, and then thirty women came forward to actually talk about his misdeeds. Anyone who actually chooses to believe that all thirty women are fabricating their stories, is simply caught in the web of misogynistic ideology that so pervades our society.

    1. hi David...I don't want to get into that. I've seen the creepy pictures of him and Ivanka. But I'd rather not go after his family just like I didn't go after Harpes's family, except when Laureen acted like a politician. Or showed more interest in cats than she did for murdered and missing women. Trump has shown us what a disgusting and dangerous demagogue he is, and that should be enough to defeat him...
