The Senseless Cruelty of Donald Trump

In my last post I looked at how Donald Trump's visceral misogyny and disgusting fat-shaming could cost him the election.

Along with his racism, his xenophobia, and his dangerous demagoguery.

But what makes him such a monster is one character flaw that stands out above all the others.

His senseless and bestial cruelty.

Donald J. Trump has a cruel streak. He willfully causes pain and distress to others. And he repeats this public behavior so frequently that it’s fair to call it a character trait. Any single example would be off-putting but forgivable. Being shown many examples across many years should make any decent person recoil in disgust.

And when you've read all those examples of cruelty without reason.

When you've read how he humiliated his former wife Ivanka.

Or Ted Cruz's wife

Or the way he withdrew the health benefits of an infant with cerebral palsy.

I think it's fair to ask Trump supporters how can they worship a man like that?

Enough. Wake up. Look at this man with fresh eyes

People disagree about the ideal traits to have in a leader. But almost no one wants a president who has proven himself an addict to being cruel, mean-spirited, and spiteful. For decades, Trump has been deliberately cruel to others, often in the most public ways. He behaves this way flagrantly, showing no sign of shame or reflection.

What kind of person still acts that way at 70? A bad person.

It is that simple.

Giving a cruel man power and expecting that he won’t use it to inflict cruelty is madness. To vote for Trump, knowing all of this, is to knowingly empower cruelty.

Better to recoil in disgust.

Or better still.

Join the winning team...

For all of them are better than Trump.

And they are going to win....

I love the equivocation... Because the Atlantic doth protest entirely too much.

"What kind of person treats the mother of his children that way?"

What kind of person leaves innocent Americans to be murdered by terrorists and then blames a nigh-unknown YouTube video!? What kind of person orders their VIP rescue team to STAND DOWN while the American consulate is under violent siege!?

What kind of person mishandles classified information and then lies about it perpetually? What kind of person smashes blackberries with hammers to avoid responsibility!?

What kind of person arranges the murder everyone who might threaten her political ambition!?

What kind of person deliberately provides weapons to Mexican drug gangs?!

What kind of person hands over control of the internet to third world dictators!?

The idea that Donald Trump shouldn't be in because he's mean... Hmm... Sure, maybe. Hopefully that meanness translates into putting Hitlery and Obama into jail where they belong!

Simon has said time and time again that Hillary is a flawed candidate but she's better than Trump because he's a bigot/racist/islamophobe/misogynist etc.

As far as Simon's concerned it doesn't matter how corrupt Hillary is, he just doesn't want to see a right winger in power because it goes against the progressive agenda. Which I can understand but...

The Clinton foundation gets money from countries who imprison/torture/murder gays and don't respect women whatsoever. Trump called a woman a pig 20 years ago and that's what matters.

Clinton defended an accused child rapist, then laughed about his lenient sentence. How's that for progressive?

I just like to poke the hypocrites from time to time.

My enthusiasm is more Schadenfreude than it is authentic, but it's great to watch people who want to lock me in jail, or murder me, people who hate me get so angry and worked up about such things. They could be preparing, but they're not. They're busy on the internet. :-)

    3. an election is not about the individual candidates as much as it is about their vision and competency to work for the common good. this means two things:
      1. work: clinton has been in the public service all her life, while thedonald serves only himself (not very well,.. but there you have it)
      2. all mechanisms of western democracies are made to pursue common good: those who are not concerned with the common good do not qualify for the job.

in europe, a politician is allowed to be a human being. have a life. here no. so here, people are surprised to find out that politicians are people and do stupid shit. point is that (lets assume that clinton and obama haven't kissed since the hacked emails) both obama and clinton are bigger people for transcending their differences for the sake of the country.

this election is bringing 'the lowest common denominator' to a new low.

Anon 9:28 and Anon 2:24 - Sources? Where are the affidavits, the court documents and on the record interviews documenting the things you both accuse Hilary Clinton of doing? I'm not talking about dead Breibart sites but actual evidence. It's put up or shutup time, boys.

Luce, maybe if I had ever had ONE SUCCESSFUL dialogue with a leftist, I'd be inclined to agree with you.

But you are part of the problem which is fueling the populist uprising coalescing behind Donald Trump. YOU. ARE. PART. OF. THE. PROBLEM.

As is the author of this blog.

Here, look, all y'all are screwed.

It actually doesn't matter who wins the election, because it's too late.

    7. hi everyone...I don't have time to answer all your comments because I'm putting a friend's boat away for the winter. But all I'll say is that whatever you Trump supporters say, your hero is a bully, and a very cruel person, and his character flaws are going to cost him the election. By failing to criticize him, or admit his flaws, you are only encouraging him, and you'll all go down with him...

  2. THe Obama's and Clintons hate each other in real life. This was revealed by the Colin Powell email hack.

    1. hi Steve...the Obamas may hate Clinton, and I'm sure Bernie is no fan of hers, for very good reason. But they will all do their duty, they are quite a squad, and they will help win the election....

“I mean, really? Who gets up at 3 in the morning to engage in a Twitter attack against the former Miss Universe? I mean, he hurled as many insults as he could. Really. Why does she do things like that?” Clinton said.

From the crowd, someone shouted that Trump is “an idiot.”

Clinton pushed forward. “His latest Twitter meltdown is unhinged, even for him. It proves yet again that he is temperamentally unfit to be President and Commander in Chief, ” she said. “I have said it before and I’ll say it again: A man who can be provoked by a tweet should never be anywhere near the nuclear codes.”

    1. hi David...yes I saw that video, and no wonder the Trumplings didn't want it released to the media. Expect to see some choice excerpts make it into the Democrat's attack ads. And then there's the new revelations about his shabby foundation, which could get him charged in the next few weeks. The Trumplings are inhaling their own fumes, but they are in for a hard landing...
