More on Stephen Harper's Mysterious Visit to Las Vegas

Three days ago I told you about Stephen Harper's visit to Las Vegas, to meet with the shadowy right wing billionaire Sheldon Adelson.

And lecture Republicans on how to united their fracturing party.

But I wasn't able to determine whether Harper also attended the Republican Jewish Coalition meeting that Adelson was hosting that weekend.

That is until I saw this.

So now that we know he was there, I thought it might be interesting to look at some of the others on the list of speakers.

For as Press Progress points out, the list reads like a who's who of the Republican Tea Party movement.

Like Ted Cruz, the Calgary-born tool of the religious right, who has so much in common with Harper...

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz, who has called for the outright abolition of the IRS and remarked that a landmark US Supreme Court decision legalizing same sex marriage was a sign "our country is in a time of crisis."

And would turn the U.S. into a theocracy, like Harper would have done if he'd won another majority.

Then there's Rick Scott, the reactionary governor of Florida...

Florida Governor Rick Scott, who has not only had issues with voter suppression, islamophobia, trying to ban the word "climate change" and endorsing Donald Trump for President, he also notably released an attack ad against one of his own constituents.

Who as you can see also has a lot in common with Harper.

And who before he became governor spent a lot of time and money attacking Obamacare by putting down our medicare system.

So you know him and Steve would have got along famously.

And then there's Scott Walker, the fascist governor of Wisconsin, who has crushed union rights in that state.

And was once pushing the idea of building a wall along the U.S. Canada border...

And who shortly after floating that wacky idea, had a secret meeting with Stephen Harper.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper quietly took a meeting last month with Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, a likely candidate for the Republican presidential nomination and a bĂȘte noire to American progressives for his anti-union policies and vocal opposition to same-sex marriage.

The Prime Minister’s Office made no mention of Walker’s visit in Ottawa, issuing neither a press release nor media advisory. The only notice of the meeting came in a press release from Walker’s office that was picked up by a few political blogs in the U.S.

That the Cons tried desperately to conceal ...

For who knows what sinister reason.

And lastly but not leastly, there's Pastor John Hagee.

Pastor John Hagee, who claimed Hurricane Katrina was an act of God to punish New Orleans for holding a "homosexual rally," which is Hagee's term for a gay pride parade.

Who in addition to being a foul bigot, is also a leader of the so-called Dominionist movement that believes that Israel must not give up any land it has seized, because the Christian Messiah will needs it when he returns.

And who just happens to be the guiding light of the man once described as the chaplin of the Harper PMO, the equally foul homophobe Charles McVety...

Last seen during the election campaign doing his bit for the cause.

Now isn't that a small world?

And when you look at that shady cast of characters you have to wonder what a former prime minister of Canada is doing in that company.

And the answer is sadly obvious.

He was trying to impress his good friend  boyfriend Benjamin Netanyahu...

Because he was was a tool of Netanyahu's settler regime, and he was and always will be a real Republican.

Which brings me back to the two questions I have asked before:

Who was Stephen Harper really working for all those years?

And aren't you glad we defeated him?

Meeting sounds like a night mare. One percenters and their puppets. Not surprising they are such a crazed bunch, who in their right mind would have anything to do with this?

    1. hi TS...what I tried to point out in my post was the kind of crowd Harper likes to hang out with, and how those right-wing extremists all share something with him. It is his natural habitat, and it couldn't be more appalling...

Glad Simon? I'm absolutely over the top, bat shit crazy ecstatic that we annihilated "The Thing" that nearly destroyed our great country(that would be a great graphic Simon. Harper emerging from a tar pond with a half eaten duck hanging from his mouth).
And then, in his typical cowardly fashion, he's been near invisible ever since, choosing to hide and pout in his office with his favorite teddy bear Ray. If Harper truly cared for this country and his constituents he'd be front and centre in Question Period but he isn't. Speaks volumes.
This week must be incredibly therapeutic for him as he gets to rub elbows with his ilk. The xenophobes, the homophobes, the dividers, the cheats, the crooks, the Tea Party Elites as it were. I bet he's as giddy as a schoolgirl at a Barbie convention.
They say a man can be judged by the company he keeps and it is so true. Harper sees his reflection in each and every one of these Tea Party Elites and that's a telling testament to just how despicable he is.

    1. hi JD...I'm sure Harper enjoyed every minute with all those Republicans. He has worked hard to ingratiate himself with the right-wing Jewish lobby, and I'm sure he was treated like a king. Although I was happy to see that Adelson wasn't particularly impressed by what Harper told him and the others. I on the other hand would give anything to see a tape of that speech... ;)

    1. The evangelical vote - same reason Pastor John Hagee was at the Adelson summit.

Read your bible - Evangelical Christians believe they need to convert the jews so Jesus will come again.
With the creation of the state of Israel in 1948 the evangelical christians started believing the "endtimes" were upon us, 2000 years late.
It does sound crazy, but religion makes otherwise good people believe and do crazy stupid things.
      Rev. Hagee at his best:

    3. According to the columnist in the Star, David Mamur (sp?) he is a Christian Zionist who have a number of whacky beliefs among which may be the idea "Some Christian Zionists believe that the gathering of the Jews in Israel is a prerequisite for the Second Coming of Jesus."

My feeling is that right-wing Israelis encourage them while trying not to break into loud laughter.

    5. hi anon 4:33...I remember once when he was in Israel some of Netanyahu's aides were quoted as saying they couldn't believe how Harper was trying to be more Jewish than they are. It really is pathetic...

Because Adelson paid for his meteoric rise to Reform leader and for his reelection ads if we had a way to verify the independent 1,800 advertising donations

"turn your kids into junkies and homos", well I'd rather they be that then Republicans, teabaggers, evangelical extremists. You can always send you kid to de tox and get them a good shrink. That carton is so funny.

Being a right wing nut job, can't be undone.

Being BGLT, if that is what god decided the kid should be, so what? It's normal.
Don't care what the kid is as long as the kid remembers the parent on mother's/father's day; the hallmark card occasions.

In some families, back in the day, it was O.K. to bring all sorts of people home with you, just not some one from the right winger parties.

People from the far religious right had a plan and when Harper was elected it was kicked into play. Slowly but surley. it was almost like the frog in the pot of boiling water. But Canadians figured it out and got rid of him, but Stevie will remain part of this group, because they don't give up. They will simply bide their time and start over again. That is why its important not to forget your history. In Canada's case it is about the time we almost lost the country to an religious zealot.

    1. hi e.a.f...I try to ignore those insane homophobes, or my blood pressure would go through the roof. The LGBT people are slowly winning their battle for equality and there's nothing those bigots can do about it...

I'm wondering if Harper as a former PM has a lifetime Air Canada pass and if so, is he using it to selfish ends rather than statesman-like events that would draw types such as Bill Clinton Jimmy Carter or Jean Chretien.

If lifetime air passes are still being issued to former PMs, then we should look at whether that's a worthy benefit for any PM.
