Donald Trump is a foul bully who has encouraged violence at his rallies, and made it very clear that he has no respect for women.
So who can really be surprised that his campaign manager has been charged with assaulting a female reporter?
Or that despite a video clearly showing that Corey Lewandowski grabbed Michelle Field's arm, and images showing that he badly bruised it.
I guess these just magically appeared on me @CLewandowski_ @realDonaldTrump. So weird. pic.twitter.com/oD8c4D7tw3— Michelle Fields (@MichelleFields) March 10, 2016
Trump would defend him and attack the reporter.
Donald Trump is rebuffing calls to fire his campaign manager, who was charged on Tuesday with assaulting a reporter, and instead verbally attacked the journalist, questioning whether she made the whole thing up.
“Who said they were bruises from that? How do you know those bruises weren’t there before?” Trump asked while talking to reporters aboard his plane Tuesday evening.
“To me, if you’re gonna get squeezed, wouldn’t you think she would have yelled out a scream or something if she has bruises on her arm? Take a look at her facial expression. Her facial expression doesn’t even change.”
But then Lewandowski has been accused of inappropriate behaviour before.
In addition to his conduct at events, Lewandowski is under fire from allegations of inappropriate behavior towards staffers and media. The Daily Intelligencer reported that Lewandowski has drunk-dialed female reporters. The campaign denies the allegations.
And Donald Trump has said it was OK for him to insult women.
During an interview Monday with a local conservative radio talk show, the Republican frontrunner defended calling women names like “fat pig” and bimbo,” by saying he never intended to run for office. Trump said that while he denigrated women on Howard Stern’s talk show over the years, “everyone would be having fun.”
“If Megyn Kelly were a man, I’d be saying the exact same thing of Megyn Kelly. I don’t think there should be a double standard if someone’s a woman,” Trump said Monday, referring to his particular comments calling Kelly a “bimbo” and saying “there was blood coming out of her wherever” during a Republican debate she moderated last August. “I’ve been better to women than any of these candidates,” he said.
If Trump wasn't such a disgusting demagogue and filthy misogynist, it would be beyond belief.
And of course he really can't fire Lewandowski for it would only attract attention to his own violent words.
But the good news is that his appalling behaviour is causing his popularity to nosedive.
Donald Trump wasn't wildly popular to begin with. And now he's becoming even more disliked among American voters, creating a significant threat to his chances of winning the Republican presidential nomination.
How bad are Trump’s image ratings? The HuffPost Pollster average of recent national polls puts Trump’s favorability at only 31 percent, while 63 percent view him unfavorably.
So even if he wins the Republican nomination many Republicans may not vote for him
Democratic pollster Celinda Lake said that even if those attacks don’t crush Trump in the primary, it could be difficult for him to hold female Republicans in a general election. “For women, Trump is like your worst date ever,” Lake said.
You know, there is an awful amount of misogyny in the air these day, in the U.S. and this country.
But Trump is a fascist.

ReplyDeleteNOT TRUE!!! As long there is any life left in the KKK and/or the NRA and/or faux news and/or cnn and/or the white supremist groups, herr oberguppenfuhrer drumpf still has a fighting chance!
Huh! Just because you lefties are smart, you think you know it all!!!
hi anon...no, we lefties are smart. But the polls show Herr Drumpf is losing support at an alarming rate, and in a general election should be handily beaten. The KKK is still enthusiastically supporting him, but twenty good ol' boys in sheets ain't going to affect the result...
DeleteA long time ago a male candidate running for. Governor of. Texas was rude to his opponent, a woman, in a tight race. He lost and many attributed it to his rudeness
ReplyDeleteGuess. Trump may learn some thing yet
hi e.a.f... that must have been a hundred years ago. These days it seems anything goes, and the Trump-Cruz show is practically pornographic. Only a politician like Bernie Sanders can lead us to a better place....
Deleteactually it was a long time ago. I am very old. It was I believe Anne Richardson and she won the Govenorship of Texas. She was not expected to win, but after that debate, the guy was just too rude.

COOPER: Let's talk about nuclear issues because you talked about this in a really interesting article in The New York Times.
TRUMP: One of the very, very big issues. I think maybe the biggest issue of our time.
COOPER: That's what you said to The New York Times. You said you worried about the proliferation of nuclear weapons...
TRUMP: Right.
COOPER: ... the most. You also said, though, that you might support Japan and South Korea developing nuclear weapons of their own. Isn't that completely contradictory?
TRUMP: No, not at all. Look, you have North Korea has nuclear weapons. And he doesn't have a carrier yet but he has got nuclear weapons. He soon will have. We don't want to pull the trigger. We're just -- you know, we have a president, frankly, that doesn't -- nobody is afraid of our president. Nobody respects our president.
You take a look at what's going on throughout the world. It's not the country that it was.
COOPER: But if you're concerned about proliferation, letting other countries get nuclear weapons, isn't that proliferation?
TRUMP: No, no. ....
